If you look at younger Betty White, say from the Mary Tyler Moore show, she doesn't look much different from how she looks in Golden Girls. She has the same hairstyle even. We naturally see Betty White as an old lady no matter the era.
We grew up with Demi Moore, so we remember when she was hot in Ghost and G.I. Jane, and we still see that in her face. I guarantee a 12-year-old today would see Demi as an old lady.

I saw this last night in the cinema- incredible movie. Was not expecting a 18+ R movie here in Australia to be so thought provoking.
It’s a horror/ thought provoking movie about aging essentially.
Make me think differently about how much pressure I put on myself to look attractive. Worth seeing! Demi of course was amazing in it.

Because... Well, it's complicated. Not being nominated for an Oscar doesn't mean by all means that one is a bad actor or not deserving to be. During the 'peak' years of her career, she rarely took part to Oscar friendly films, with the exception of Ghost and A Few Good Men. In the first case, it was a super competitive year and while the film is iconic, the performance that stands out is Whoopi's (who won). In the other, it is simply not a particularly interesting role, while she was good. I hope her un-nominated for Oscar status changes this year, hopefully the Academy embraces her performance while abandoning genre bias (sometimes, it happens).

That’s an apt description, along with the other theme of our inhumanity to ourselves, and obsession with youth and beauty and weighing our importance based upon these highly coveted feminine attributes: much of this movie, to me, is also about separation from others (especially as you age) and loneliness.
