Happy 50th podcast, I really enjoy listening to you guys. I also love the fact that you have more than 1 project on the go, makes me feel less quilty about how many I have. See you in a fortnight
Just love watching you guys. Ray it's such a beautiful touch to knit your colleague a hat. Being a cancer survivor I know that the love wrapped round you through such gifts is crucial to stop the loneliness and fear taking over through treatment. Bless you both. Nicola UK. XX
Congratulations on your 50th episode - great stuff. I also like to use a non-superwash yarn for some of my projects (most things other than socks). Since I am Canadian, I try to support Canadian producers where I can. These are a few of my favourites... Lily and Pine, Briggs and Little, Topsy Farms, MacAuslands, Ancient Arts, and Custom Woolen Mills. Some of them also sell superwash, so you have to read the descriptions.
Congrats on your 50th podcast! I enjoy them all. Still working on my Vertices shawl. Been knitting so many socks. Nice gesture to knit a hat for your colleague Ray. So thoughtful of you. 😘💕
Kevin, you better behave made me laugh out loud. Congratulations on 50 . Can we have a Discord category called "I have a crush on Ray' ?? Thanks for sharing ....
Hi! The reason us europeans can knit easily with non superwash is because theres a lot of brands located in scandinavia that only have non superwash. Like Holst, Rauma, Hillesvag. Then there's Istex from Iceland and the UK has some smaller local brands. Because of trade agreements and such within the EU it's really easy to get brands from different countries, here in the netherlands there's a couple shops that stock it as well! :)
Happy Fiftieth!!! You know me...I had Champagne to celebrate the occasion! I need to have some "Sunset" and the Peach colorway in my life!!! Love you guys!! Here's to 50 more!!
As an Edinburgh resident - your pronunciation was perfect, Ray! - we really are pretty spoiled for access to non-superwash yarn. All the local yarn shops stock a pretty good selection - both of commercial non-superwash and hand dyed. And alongside that, I can order from Holst in Denmark or Woolyknit in England, and the yarn will arrive within the week. I also find that it’s a bit cheaper to buy non-superwash, which means I can buy more of it - hahaha! I literally just answered the door while I was watching your podcast and it was the postman with (another) two cones of holst Supersoft. Eep!
We DEFINITELY want to check out Holst! We hear really great things and I think they sell some of their yarns in cones too! Perfect for sweaters and larger projects 🥰
Happy 50th podcast. I don't know about Norway but in Britain the emphasis on non-superwash wool has been growing thanks in large part to the Campaign for Wool that was launched by Prince Charles in 2010 to educate consumers and promote all aspects of the wool industry. It was part of his interest in environmental conservation and preventing the extinction of certain sheep breeds that had become endangered as the wool industry declined.
Happy 50th guys! I find bandwagon then machine spinning my knits to work well and haven't had any problems. I've been doing this with my knits for 40 years now..... works great.
That alarm scared me too as I have a very bad migraine and had my eyes closed and was just listening. I must say Kevin, that I really like your hoody. The colors are in my wheelhouse.
Pretty Lion yarn colors for that hat. Acrylics or cotton acrylic blends are best for baby items too IMO. Fun socks...also reminds me of elves. I agree, perfect size poms for the hats. I like that pink yarn as well and with the blue. Pierre is probably my fave shawl from SW. I forgot about that blanket and those ginormous cakes! Fun yarn colors you dyed. I always find it so interesting the way different breeds and fibers take dye. Happy 50th.
I just started watching your podcasts. I'm really enjoying you guys! Loving all the yarn, sharing of knit ideas and pattern ideas. Enjoying your personalities immensely! I will be continuing to watch you for sure!!
Super wash is convenient, but non-superwash is so fun to knit with - such a nice hand. My favorites are Ms Babbs Killington (absolutely fabulous colors and fabulous stitch quality!), Barrett Wool Co's yarns -all of them- and High Prairie Wool. There are a lot of non-superwash gorgeous yarns if we look around for them!
Acrylic yarns have come so far from what they used to be. They are great for kids things and hats that need washing. As a cancer survivor myself and losing all my hair during treatment, I would recommend a non Mercerized cotton. I had an array of colors to match all my outfits. I wish I would have know about the Musselburgh pattern at that time. I used Very Pink knits double brimmed hat for my pattern. You are so kind to make your friend a hat….she will love it!
Oh that’s wonderful, thanks for the recommendation! Congratulations on being so strong and surviving! Such an inspiration and sending you lots and lots of hugs 🤗
great conversation about non super wash yarn, it sees that small businesses and farm producers are the best source of non sw yarn and by supporting them, you are supporting smaller mills and their communities, In NZ, the land once famous for having more sheep than humans, the value of wool currently hardly covers the cost of shearing and so many mills have closed. Seek out the small farms, as they are the ones looking after the land.
Congratulations on your 50th! Sure have enjoyed your podcasts! Great to see your wonderful hats and those cute hat ornaments! And always, the yarns you are dyeing. Best wishes for the Season!
Happy fiftieth! Thanks for being willing to share your time with us. I so enjoy your UA-cam channel. You can find lots of non-super wash yarns from farms or festivals. You have Olympia farm right in CT and they do the festival circuit. The Woolly Thistle has an online only shop and they import tons of non-superwash from The British Isles, Europe and Scandinavian countries. I have been moving more to non-superwash because I find the garments are sturdier. I think Knit Picks wool of the Andes has a non-super wash version too.
Ray, you are so kind and thoughtful to knit the hat for your coworker. My sister is going through chemo as well so you have inspired me to knit one for her. Bless you.
Hey, guys, great stuff, including the "elf socks" :) I was just thinking about your early shows, when the bookcase was full of... books! Now So Much Yarn! 😃
Happing 50th episode. Living in Ireland we do have a good selection of non Superwash yarn but a lot of it can be pretty rustic. Olann now has their own mill yarn which is beautiful. Yarn Vibes offer a very local yarn. Many Irish hand dyer now offer a non Superwash option which is great.
Love your company while working. You make so much beautiful knitwear 👏 You're absolutely right about non superwash yarn being very accessible in Scandinavia. I am Danish and unfortunately very wool sensitive .. and the only Holst yarn I have in my stash is SW 😉 I highly recommend the Danish yarn Isager. Have a lovely day 😊🧶
Sitting listening and watching as I knit my Snuggle is real. After seeing yours Kevin I added it to my queue. Now it’s on the needles! ❤️ Love the brioche hat. Thanks for sharing all your knitting. It’s so inspirational!
Ray, I squealed aloud at the hatvent hats with the wee little pompoms! Adorable! Great knits, both of you! Love the Brioche hat, Kevin. I'm scared of Brioche and haven't delved into that yet.
Aww 🥰 They really are adorable and those Pom poms totally make it!! Also, don’t be afraid of brioche. Do a small sample or swatch with some of your leftover yarn and see what you think 🥰
A fab 50th episode! That was great that you showed up for Chip’s new Livestream on Friday. He’s doing really well with it. Ray, you never disappoint and provided a song burst once again. We should change the words to…. 🎼’Knittin on the dock of the bay’ 🎶🧶💕💁🏼♀️
Congrats on your 50th podcast! I so enjoy each and every one. The hat ornaments are adorable and your Musselburghs look fantastic. I’m working on one for the grandson to match a pair of socks he’s getting for Christmas. Thanks for the link with the girl venting about how to pronounce Edinburgh. I laughed throughout the whole thing. Until next time!!!
Happy 50th episode! Those little hat ornaments are so cute! 🤗 Glad you had a nice Thanksgiving. The hats you are making for the kids are fantastic and such a great idea. I am also in “hat mode” and knitting furiously trying to get them done before Christmas. Enjoyed the episode, it was great to watch while getting some knitting done! ❤️
Congrats on your 50th podcast. Loved the episode and those haven’t knits are adorable especially when you held the pompon to them. I live in Ecuador and there’s not much superwash yarn here. Hope you both have a great two weeks
I am the same way. I use very bright colorful yarn in my knitting like Lucy Neatby. Its color therapy. I love the how happy it makes me when I have a really beautiful yarn in whatever I’m working on. But then I find I never wear the objects. I need to knit with colors I’ll actually wear, but they don’t bring me the same joy. I definitely need to figure out someway to fulfill both needs I started watching the Wheel of Time series on Amazon Prime. I really enjoyed the episodes that are out so far and decided to go back a reread the books. Honestly the books are so much better than I remember from my college days.
Happy 50th!! My LYS has Patagonia Organic Merino from Juniper Moon Farm, Argentina. (thought it was local) really enjoyed working with it and its reasonably priced. I test knit a colorwork cardigan with it and its great.
Your hoodies are SO FREAKING GORGEOUS!!!!!!!! Just beautiful. I found some 100% rustic wool at JoAnn's in Palm Springs. It's called Fishermen's Wool and is made in India. It is in 8 ounce, 227 gram skeins and you get 465 yards or 425 meters. +I got 2 colors for some very simple color works hats and the first one did soften up & bloom beautifully. On the first one, the 'lice' were hidden but after blocking, they puffed up and show better. The 2nd one will be finished today and doing 2 in a row made my tension better on the 2nd one. But either way, they are both pretty awesome. Here's hoping the recipients find them comfortable. Nice episode!
I was in Jo-Ann's a couple of weeks ago (Nashua, NH) and a woman purchased a "cake" same color that Ray is using. She spoke to the Manager about getting more. Seems most stores had a cake or two, with 180+ in the local warehouse. I purchase Holst Garn directly from them , best price that way. The Woolly Thistle, web shop based in NH has a lot of different non-superwashed "rustic" yarns. I watch Eli aka Skeindeer Knits on UA-cam, she is a Norwegian living, knitting and designing in London. Getting her favorite Norwegian yarns got harder thanks to Brexit. Luckily she has family still in Norway. Love her colorwork mitten patterns, that is how I've been getting back into stranded colorwork.
Thanks for another fun filled episode - congrats on 50! You guys crack me up - it’s okay to say 100% wool instead of non-superwash LOL. Love all your projects, so inspirational. Counting the days until your next episode!
Happy 50th episode. I always go for the new book if I haven waiting for it. I reread the awakening in advance of the release of The Becoming and read that this week. I really like Kevin’s brioche hat and Ray’s elf socks. After seeing all the musselburgh hats that is definitely on my to do list.
Happy 50th podcast! 🥂🎉 Kevin the yarns you dye. They are lovely. Ray, I love the Bernat blanket yarn. I get two to the big balls and make soft squishy baby blankets out of them. I usually just do the dish cloth pattern. It works perfect and everyone that gets one loves them.
Finally, you have pronounced Musselburgh properly. I so proud of you both... Now Yorkshire has to be conquered, remember Yorkshhhhhhh! As to UK yarns, can I suggest you look at Wee County Yarns up in Scotland, their JC Rennie is to die for and although it looks as rough as f*ck, the more you handle it the softer it gets. I knit one of their Advent cowls every other year but you would love their kits, which are just wonderful.
It’s so true that if you’ve thought about making a channel, just start! I love watching you guys (and many of the channels you mentioned) and you guys absolutely inspired me to pick up podcasting again. In reference to non-superwash, I do think it depends on where you live and what your yarn stores stock. As a Canadian, we often have Briggs and Little available which is a wonderful non superwash option! And inexpensive! I’ve noticed more indie dyers picking up NSW bases and when it’s NSW merino, it’s so soft and lovely! 😍
Congratulations on the 50th episode!!! Love you guys and such a nice way to finish out the weekend. I live for your unplanned comments: K - Wow this is heavy, you could hurt someone. R - I know so behave. LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi you two, you do always make smile and happy especially when I'm feeling down and low. Happy 50th podcast, how funny I'm the big 50 next Feb. You lovely things, I'm just baby newborn crochets hats at the moment, and knitted mens hats too. It's very cold here in the UK at the moment. Xx
Great job on all the hats__yours, the gifts, and the ornaments! The pom poms are just too cute! Ray, I'm glad you have your crochet blanket back out. It looks like it's getting big enough to keep you warm while you're knitting it. I think if you get a sheep, Ray, you need to move where there's not so much snow! It will probably need an alpaca to play with! Maybe a yak, too. Kevin, I like you're new yarn dying colors, especially your unnamed one! I don't understand how you can put 2 dye colors at a time in one "pan" and keep them separate. Guess I should watch some videos!
In your spare time (IKR?!) read Vanishing Fleece by Clara Parkes. I live in AU now, am originally from CT (born in Waterbury) while cultural differences pay a part in the availability of non-superwash wool, there's many more factors at play. Love watching you both and you guys make me miss CT!
Congrats on 50! I've been here from the start and I have enjoyed every minute. BTW, I was sorta hoping this was going to be the musical holiday edition, Ray, you could pull it off! Be well, and enjoy the season gents!
I am in Colorado and we have a few local farms that have yarns done in some small local mills and are in the local yarn stores. There are several bigger names such as Mountain Colors, Mountain Meadow and Brown Sheep in Montana, Wyoming, and Nebraska that have non-superwash yarns. Also on the west coast are a few that we find here. I love their yarns. I would like to try some those that Inga talks about and also Laerka on Fiber Tales. I love your channel.
Hi Ann! Thank you so much. I’m not sure if Tincan knits has a video on it, I found it on their website, it was written instructions with pictures. I’ll add the link below.
I have the same huge cake of yarn that Ray has. Mine is in green tones. I bought it last year to be my Covid 19 yarn. I work at a preschool and I knew that I would probably get it. I hate it when I'm right! Fortunately it was a mild case and I did get that huge cake of yarn out and started knitting it into a blanket. I still have a bit to go!! It was a comfort to knit and rest and watch UA-cam!
@@NeedlesattheReadyPodcast I'm so glad that you are recovered and healthy again! I am making washcloths for my coworkers. I also worked on them as well while resting....Plus watching 3 seasons of Yellowstone!! Hello Cowboys!! I have a big basket and I put a washcloth in a Christmas treat bag and filled the basket with them and I'm going to get chocolates and a few other treats. I'm going to have my coworkers choose whatever they want from the basket... Its been a tough year with Covid in the schools. We could all use a treat or two! Thanks for your show. Its fun and comforting to watch!
Thank you for this episode, it's so nice to knit when listen to you. It's easy to find nonsuperwash yarns in Finland, I think. And it's easy to order yarn from Norway or Sweden or from other European Union country. I love to watch Knitting Traditions, too. And I love to knit with the finnish lamb wool, because it's local yarn here. Have a lovely knitting time there!
Lion brand heartland is one of my favourite yarns to knit hats with. It washes wonderful and is soft and warm. I don’t often knit with wool for gifts as everyone likes wash and wear stuff, no fuss with laundering instructions.
Love you guys. I love wooly wool or non super wash wool. It is hard to find US producers. You mentioned Brooklyn Tweed. And Susan B Anderson's yarn is great as well. I mostly find the non super wash yarns are from overseas. The Woolly Thistle is an online store based in New Hampshire that stocks a lot of these kind of yarns. Rauma, a Norwegian company, makes wonderful yarn at a good price point. Rowan Felted Tweed is a great yarn and also not so expensive. I will be interested to see if you branch off to some other brands!
Love the brioche hat , Kevin . Great choice of colors . Well done !! Now that I see your knew dyed yarn , could be nice to knit the brioche hat with the first skein of yarn you showed ?!?! Lovely new colors.
😍 about non superwash here in the UK, there are many different sorts of LYS and most are basic and don’t stock any wool at all, then some perhaps sock yarn, Opal etc, then some stock a better range, then the more high end stores will have hand dyed superwash skeins and perhaps some non superwash, like Jamiesons or similar. But to shop online, there are a lot of non superwash options available. The Shetland wools (2 companies up there, one sources solely from Shetland, the other Shetland breed fleece, but from anywhere, and I can never remember which is i which ☺️ I *think* the more swish looking website is the one that sources off Shetland) There are also independent mills like woollyknits and John Arbon that ship out and sell at shows, then smaller companies like Garthenor, woolly mammoth, daughter of a shepherd, blacker yarns, that stand at shows and sell online. So it’s there are easily available, but if someone just shopped in their LYS that stocked the common commercial brands, they might never see it 🐑
In 2018 when I was going thru chemo I got to looking around the room and several folks were sitting in their chairs with towels on their heads because of hair loss and cold heads. I’m a loom knitter and so put together man colors and women colors and brought them in and everyone would pick what they wanted. I also got requests for certain colors and any hats left over were taken into the hospital and given out. I forgot, Hi boys!!!!
I cast on a Mussel-bruh :-) for my nephew's xmas gift. His swim team works out in an outdoor pool (we're in SoCal, but it gets cold in January)!! Congrats on your 50th podcast!! I find myself thinking each Sunday, "has it been a fortnight?"
Ray, when you said that North Bay Fiber had an update in 5 minutes I thought, "what are you doing podcasting now?! I hope he doesn't miss it!" I'm so glad you got some. Her Kristy Glass episode made me put that beautiful Corkline sweater at the top of my queue, even with all the bobbles.
The awakening and becoming are such great books. Awakening needs to be read before the becoming. I am so bummed to have to wait a year for the next one after finishing the first 2 in just over a week.
Great job guys. Loved it. This time of year is just crazy busy. Take time for you. Ray read the new book. Seriously I have at keadtc4 books going at the same time. It's like knitting, I get bored put something new on my needles. Same with books. Like Kevin says, go with what you love. Cheers !
I just finished a hat for my daughter's birthday using Lionbrand Heartland. I really like it. She's notorious for not following proper washing instructions for woolens. So all her hand knit gifts have to be machine washable and dryable. Stay well! 🙃
Pretty cool that you're getting comfortable with Brioche! That Harlow hat looks great. I'd like to try that. Your new colour reminds me of a peach bellini , or a peach schnapps. The hats you were both wearing today look great on ya. Thanks for another entertaining episode!
OMG the brioche hat is amazing. I made it through the brioche of the MKAL Shawlography. It was good fun once I got the hang of it but admittedly there are patches of dog's breakfast that I can't fix. I'm just going to artfully drape those part in the folds when wearing LOL.
i'm in New Zealand, where there a LOT of sheep, and the majority of our knitting yarns are non-superwash. Some are gentle-machine wash, with is a more gentle process. The majority of locally produced superwash yarns are, as usual everywhere else, indie dyed, because the superwash process allows the wool to take the dye more evenly and , what's the word, brighter? I've heard it said that the reason superwash is so prevalent in the States is that people aren't prepared to hand wash their knitwear if it can't go in the washer and dryer, forget it. True, you think? My own favourite yarn is , not exactly breed specific, but is selected NZ crossbred, and selected from finer end fleeces, so while it's rustic and sturdy it's also soft. Non-superwash Corriedale is lovely too, Ray. And thanks for the shout-out for North Bay Fiber, I went over to watch the Kristy Glass interview. Great 50th episode!
Thanks so much Patricia! I’m not sure how true it is about the non superwash and not wanting to hand wash the wool. I think it’s probably because we don’t have a history with sheep and wool farming so it’s not so ingrained in our behaviors. All I do know is that I’m soo into the rustic wools right now 🥰🥰
HAPPY 50TH EPISODE!!!!!!! Love you guys you are the best. 🥰🥰
Thank you Yvonne!
Congrats on episode 50! I love watching you while I crochet. So glad you are doing some crochet - I don’t feels so alone 😆
Thank you Christine!

See you in a fortnight
Lol 😂 it’s nice to know we aren’t the only ones! See you in a fortnight 🥰
I just love seeing Kevin´s expression when he shakes his head every time Ray leans in and says " 9-inch circular needles" 😄 It never gets old!
LOL, I don't know what it always catches me off guard.
Happy 50th podcast! I have been enjoying your podcasts while home from work after a knee surgery.
Thanks so much!! We are glad we could keep you company while you recover 🥰🥰
I love your kind gesture Ray. The heartland makes great hats. I've crocheted several beanies in a ribbed pattern. Super easy. Colors are great.
Thank you Susan! It is really nice to be able to make items for someone in need of it.

Thanks, I think it came from Stitch Fix
Love all the information you two share. Very clear. I have picked up new ideas and new yarn suppliers and new patterns. I’m happy. 😊❤️

Sitting listening and watching as I knit my Snuggle is real. After seeing yours Kevin I added it to my queue. Now it’s on the needles! ❤️ Love the brioche hat. Thanks for sharing all your knitting. It’s so inspirational!
Oh how awesome!! You’re going to love it!! So cozy 🥰
Thank you Susan! OMG love Knittin on the dock of the bay 😊
@@NeedlesattheReadyPodcast 💕
Happy 50th Episode! Love your knits!
Thanks so much 🥰🥰
Congrats on your 50th podcast!
Lol thanks Linda! That video made us laugh too! What a nice idea to make matching socks and hat! Love it 🥰
Lol thanks Linda! That video made us laugh too! What a nice idea to make matching socks and hat! Love it 🥰
#50!!! Wow. Congratulations on a fine podcast. I really enjoy listening and learning from you two. 💜
Thanks Karen! We’re so happy that we can do this every fortnight 🥰🥰
Thank you so much for watching and commenting. Love that idea of hats for Xmas, such a quick useful knit.
Congrats on your 50th podcast. Loved the episode and those haven’t knits are adorable especially when you held the pompon to them. I live in Ecuador and there’s not much superwash yarn here. Hope you both have a great two weeks
Thank you Sharon!
Thanks for the shout out guys! I love all of your Musselburgh hats!
Of course! Seriously been killing it with your shawls.
I definitely need to figure out someway to fulfill both needs
I started watching the Wheel of Time series on Amazon Prime. I really enjoyed the episodes that are out so far and decided to go back a reread the books. Honestly the books are so much better than I remember from my college days.
We still need to read that!! I keep meaning to add it to our list. Thanks for the reminder!!
All of your projects look amazing! Thank you for sharing.
Thanks Erin 🥰
Happy 50th!!
My LYS has Patagonia Organic Merino from Juniper Moon Farm, Argentina. (thought it was local) really enjoyed working with it and its reasonably priced. I test knit a colorwork cardigan with it and its great.
Awesome!! Thank you so much for the suggestion 🥰🥰
Leftovers day after is second thanksgiving! The best!
Totally!! It’s my favorite too 🥰
Your hoodies are SO FREAKING GORGEOUS!!!!!!!!
Oh thanks for mentioning this!! I think I bought some last year!! Lol time to go stash diving 🥰
Oh that’s good to know!! Thank you 😊
I absolutely adore the hat ornaments , super cute 🥰
They are! I’m going to try to get a few more done this week 😊
Thanks for another fun filled episode - congrats on 50! You guys crack me up - it’s okay to say 100% wool instead of non-superwash LOL. Love all your projects, so inspirational. Counting the days until your next episode!
Actually there is 100% wool that is super wash. We have a bunch in our stash 🥰
@@NeedlesattheReadyPodcast silly me -sorry I wasn’t clear :). I meant to say that wool is either super wash (treated) or 100%. That’s all 🥰
Knitting feverishly to finish for knit along. Having so much fun.
Yay! So glad you got to join in!! 😊
Thank you Tyanne! The Musselburgh is a nice knit, it does take a bit of time though.
Aww I love this! They really are super soft and cozy 🥰
Kevin I love that you are reading a book based in my home City Sydney. Aussie, Aussie, Aussie... You guys are so cute, I can't even. 😘
Aww 🥰
Finally, you have pronounced Musselburgh properly. I so proud of you both... Now Yorkshire has to be conquered, remember Yorkshhhhhhh!
As to UK yarns, can I suggest you look at Wee County Yarns up in Scotland, their JC Rennie is to die for and although it looks as rough as f*ck, the more you handle it the softer it gets. I knit one of their Advent cowls every other year but you would love their kits, which are just wonderful.
Thank you, we tried to get find the proper way to say it. Thank you for the yarn suggestions.
Hi Sarah! So awesome you are starting to podcast again.
Omg happy 50!!! I’ve loved making projects for holiday gifts and the KAL!
Awesome!! So glad you were able to get some gift knitting done 🥰🥰
Congratulations on the 50th episode!!! Love you guys and such a nice way to finish out the weekend. I live for your unplanned comments: K - Wow this is heavy, you could hurt someone. R - I know so behave. LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!
Aww thank you!! Lol 😂
Xx
Thanks so much Emma! We are so happy we could bring a smile to your face and share these experiences with you all. It really means so much to us 🥰🥰
@@NeedlesattheReadyPodcast Your very welcome, I love to here you to bicker makes me laugh. You both make beautiful things.
So thoughtful of you Ray to knit a hat for your co-worker. She will love it . Lovely colors.
Aww thanks 😊
YAY!!
Both you & Chevas, can my day be any better?!?!?
😂🤣😂🤣😂
Aww 🥰
Lol 😂 Alice I love where your thoughts are at! We’ll just get a farm and all will be happy 😃
Hi Karen! Thank you for the book suggestion, I’ve added it to my wishlist.
The Felici Musselburgh is perfect! And I love it when you tow wear your hand crafted sweaters.
Thank you Tricia!
The yarn you have dyed is beautiful!
Thank you Debra!
Congrats on 50! I've been here from the start and I have enjoyed every minute. BTW, I was sorta hoping this was going to be the musical holiday edition, Ray, you could pull it off! Be well, and enjoy the season gents!
Lol 😂 one of these days I might convince Kevin!! Haha 🥰
Thanks Jackie!! What a lucky find! I bet if we looked hard enough, we’ll find more locally available wool. Thanks so much for sharing 🥰🥰
Fantastic podcast!! Congratulations on 50 episodes. I’m struggling with the beginning of the Musselburgh hat-I’ll look for the Tin Can Knits video.
Hi Ann! Thank you so much. I’m not sure if Tincan knits has a video on it, I found it on their website, it was written instructions with pictures. I’ll add the link below.
Happy 50th. Love your vlog🥰
Thanks Doris ❤️
I have the same huge cake of yarn that Ray has. Mine is in green tones. I bought it last year to be my Covid 19 yarn. I work at a preschool and I knew that I would probably get it. I hate it when I'm right! Fortunately it was a mild case and I did get that huge cake of yarn out and started knitting it into a blanket. I still have a bit to go!! It was a comfort to knit and rest and watch UA-cam!
Totally agree! I worked on my blanket a lot when I had COVId as well. Definitely comfort knitting (crochet in my case) 😊❤️
Thanks so much!! We hear amazing things about that wool! We’d love to try it sometime 🥰
Lion brand heartland is one of my favourite yarns to knit hats with. It washes wonderful and is soft and warm. I don’t often knit with wool for gifts as everyone likes wash and wear stuff, no fuss with laundering instructions.
I agree!! It’s super soft and squishy 🥰🥰
Thanks so much, Jane!! We still want to try Susan B Anderson’s yarn. We hear great things about it 🥰
Remember me ? Im new to this channel...i love leftovers !!!!!!...
I only crochet...love listening to you guys know matter what....
Thanks Jill 🥰
Love the brioche hat , Kevin . Great choice of colors . Well done !! Now that I see your knew dyed yarn , could be nice to knit the brioche hat with the first skein of yarn you showed ?!?! Lovely new colors.
Thanks Diana! You’re absolutely right! They go very well together 🥰
So it’s there are easily available, but if someone just shopped in their LYS that stocked the common commercial brands, they might never see it 🐑
Hi Ellena! Thank you for the information, we are definitely getting the feeling that non-super wash is more available in the UK.
Aww that’s so sweet of you! I bet they loved that. You have such a big heart! Thanks for sharing ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Aww thanks so much for hanging out with us!! Your nephew is going to love it, I’m sure 🥰
Thank you for a great session....You inspired me to try brioche! Wish me luck....
Yay!! Good luck with brioche Beverly!
Congratulations guys. I started knitting using the addi interchangeables but the wire hates me… so am switching to chiaogoo.
Chiagoo is our favorite for interchangeable needles. But Addis are so good in a smaller circumference 😊
I agree! Even with the bobbles, it’s absolutely stunning!! ❤️❤️
Ray, you look super spunky in Kevins Brioche hat. Its a keeper.
Thanks! I think I might steal it 🥳😂
The awakening and becoming are such great books. Awakening needs to be read before the becoming. I am so bummed to have to wait a year for the next one after finishing the first 2 in just over a week.
I’m totally loving The Becoming! It’s great so far 🥰
Great job guys. Loved it. This time of year is just crazy busy. Take time for you. Ray read the new book. Seriously I have at keadtc4 books going at the same time. It's like knitting, I get bored put something new on my needles. Same with books. Like Kevin says, go with what you love. Cheers !
Thanks Julie! You are absolutely correct!! I’m going to start the book! 😉🥰🥰
I just finished a hat for my daughter's birthday using Lionbrand Heartland. I really like it. She's notorious for not following proper washing instructions for woolens. So all her hand knit gifts have to be machine washable and dryable. Stay well! 🙃
Thanks Sharon!! My coworker LOVED it and said many times how soft it is 🥰 I’ll definitely be using it more!
Another great podcast guys! Hello from Canada!
Hi Flo ❤️❤️
Pretty cool that you're getting comfortable with Brioche! That Harlow hat looks great. I'd like to try that. Your new colour reminds me of a peach bellini , or a peach schnapps. The hats you were both wearing today look great on ya. Thanks for another entertaining episode!
Thank you so much! We basically live in these hats during the winter…so cozy! 🥰🥰
OMG the brioche hat is amazing. I made it through the brioche of the MKAL Shawlography. It was good fun once I got the hang of it but admittedly there are patches of dog's breakfast that I can't fix. I'm just going to artfully drape those part in the folds when wearing LOL.
Lol, totally agree it is tricky to get started. Couldn’t imagine doing 1 color brioche yet.
Kevin I love your hand dying...I bought Honeycomb and it went right into my Stephwn West Fiery Foliage shawl and it blended beautifully.
Oh that’s awesome!! Thank you so much for your support 🥰🥰
i'm in New Zealand, where there a LOT of sheep, and the majority of our knitting yarns are non-superwash.
All I do know is that I’m soo into the rustic wools right now 🥰🥰
Happy 50th! Been watching since Kevin did the 1st one alone. Ray, I had to buy the 2nd book of the awakening series…. Can’t wait to start listening…
Thanks so much!! I started it two nights ago 😉 Love it so far!!
