So excited for my best friend Pauly Wauly winning a prize. We have been best friends for sixty, yes 60 years. We live in different cities now, but email each other everyday with what is going on in our day and in our knitting life. So kind of you to give a prize for outside of the United States. Hugs from a long time viewer.
Omg Springknit that won in your knit a long is my great friend. I am so happy for her! She is unable to go to Flock with some of our knitting group. I , we are hoping to meet you guys there❤️
Congratulations on the trunk show going live! I so enjoy your podcast and wish that I could easily transport myself to the East Coast to see it. One day, I hope NATR is successful enough for a tour to California! 😉
Kevin was right - it is a Tulip hook - gold w/black handle.. I have the entire set. Love them. They also have a red & pink set, as well as buying them individually.
Love the sweater and beautiful hat, your jelly roll blankets are fabulous. It was my sister’s birthday on 22nd so we have been celebrating knitting and nattering with our yarny friends. Have a fabulous week ❤❤❤
Always so enjoyable. The test knit is stunning, Ray. And I think a Marie Wallin knit kit is always a yes. The Wooly Thistle is always so helpful to get everything just right. Happy knitting 💚🧶💚
Oh, as a knitter who always ends up with a little something unexpected on my FO’s … Ray, I love your shoulder detail on test knit . It really looks like it was intended . Who knows, maybe Max will add it to the published pattern as a design options ! The fit on you is perfect ☺️
Hi Kevin and Ray ... While I was planning my annual summer trip to Connecticut (I now live in Florida), I was watching your podcast. I did a search on UA-cam for knitting podcasts in Connecticut and discovered you. Spent a good deal of the day watching your early podcasts. I loved to see the progression of your knitting journey. I try to spend the summer in Milford and am happy to learn that you are from that area. Enjoy your trip to the Northwest.
Your design element is something unique and cool Ray. I love the Jethro squares. I got the yarn I like as my winter project for the Jethro sweater. My friend in college in the 70s had a similar sweater I loved so now I will have one. I also love the blankets. Great podcast.
I am crocheting/knitting a granny square pullover sweater for my friend's 2 year old granddaughter. Light orchid and sunshine yellow Big Twist yarn from Joannes with an H hook. I use Bates and Boyd Crochet Hooks. Ray...Lighting candles and sending good vibes for you to finish your Dad's sweater. Lol. Buy the kit, Kevin. I love all of your makes. I look forward to your podcast and feel lost(off) until i watch. 💚
Ray, that brown test knit is absolutely the best. The artistic license you took on the sleeves looks perfect. Kevin, yes, definitely knit the 5000 color sweater. It will be a challenge that you will knock out of the park!
Ray, guys don't get old, lol. appreciate the thought but too late! was thinking how great you both are at remembering yarns and the colorways when you said this! love seeing your projects and appreciate the time you spend with us all and all the great info you provide
Ray, your cardigan fits you so well and looks great on you, it’s both casual and dressy. Also, I screamed when I saw the June Woolens and Nosh colorway. This month is my first time in the club and those are all my favorite colors. I ran to my mailbox to get my package. It was great to be able to admire the yarn as you were talking about it. I watch a ton of knitting UA-cam channels, but yours goes right to the top of my queue.
Hello!! Lovely to hear you're thinking of knitting the Troutbeck! It's such a showstopper. We're getting that kit back up and available now so let us know if we can answer any other questions about it or Marie's designs!
LisaR: Ray - I actually noticed the sleeves & absolutely LOVED the detail ❤ Also , the fit couldn't be better. I know my son would wear it well - must knit your version! 😊
I love the test knit Ray. Perfect fit for you. Some things I would have to change because I am weird. My brain notices some things and can’t let it go. You however, look good the knit looks good and Max will love it. All good. It’s up to you! Also Kevin, the Marie Wallin kit would be great. Go for it, you will not regret it.
Ray, your test knit cardigan is fantabulous--your signature design element accentuates your deltoids quite nicely!! Excellent job. It's beautiful! Kevin, definitely buy the Marie Wallin kit. No need to think twice! We support...er, enable you 100%. You will, of course, nail it. Congratulations on your upcoming inaugural trunk show...how about "lets hear it for YOU GUYS"!!!! SO fun. Cheers and big hugs to you both. Always so great to see you💙💚XO
I have a mistake in mine as well. It is around the waist. I figure it is a design feature to separate from the chest and the bottom of the sweater. On the last band. My husband is excited to get this sweater.
Thanks for the motivation to start my Jethro…hope to complete it before Rhinebeck! Meanwhile, Kevin, congrats on your first trunk show….I’m sure you’re a bit nervous, Kevin, but I know your yarn will shine and it will be a HUGE success. Hope you’re able to stay in the moment and actually enjoy the event (first of many, I’m sure!). I wish I lived closer (I’m midcoast Maine) but hopefully someone(s) will capture it on video so we can vicariously experience it 🥰🧶🥰.
Thank you Angela, I am really excited for the trunk show. I’ve also really started working on the Jethro and been giving my self a goal of 2-4 squares a day, it is going pretty fast so far.
I so wish I could make it to your trunk show! I love your yarn! Kevin, make the sweater! You're an amazing knitter and it looks like another opportunity to knit from stash!
Heck yes on the kit Kevin - I love Woolly Thistle yarns and podcast and have been needing inspiration for a colorwork pattern - you walking us along with it would be VERY fun (sorry Ray). Keep on trying with the woolly wools - I love a non-superwash! YOU both need to go on a cruise - it would be sold out in minutes. ❤
I hit the comment button by mistake oooops I have a little more to say. Ray I love your honesty, very admirable. I like your added touch....not mistake! Pack that trunk and drive it closer to me. I would buy yarn and give Ray a big squish!
Thanks guys for this great moment with you. Yes Kevin you should buy the kit to make this sweater, it will be a long journey but the result will be wow !!! Take care !
Absolutely yes, Kevin! Knit the sweater. AND you can adjust it to knit most of it in the round. With that much colorwork, knitting in the round would be so much easier.
Hello! I am pretty new to your podcast, but am enjoying it quite a bit. I am a yarn spinner and work with raw wool quite often. Dawn/dish soap can damage wool on a molecular level. It is meant to get rid of proteins (cleaning food, oil, ect). Since wool is a protein fiber it can weaken and mess with the integrity of the fiber, especially if used with hot water. I would suggest Unicorn Power Scour if you want to get remaining lanolin out of non-superwash wool. There are other scours on the market, but I have had the best results with Unicorn. Even with higher temperatures, unicorn is phenomenal and my wool has never been damaged by it. I hope you are able to find a way that works for you! The properties of non superwash wool are amazing and it would be wonderful to see more of it on the market so more people have access to it. Have a lovely weekend!
Oit would be so awesome if you take a ferry ride over to the Kitsap peninsula during your Seattle trip in August. It would be an honor to meet you guys. 🎉😊

Kevin- your jethro colors are excellent (perfectly vintage mariners colors, especially if you’re planning to go to a ballgame while you’re in Seattle). Tons of fun yarny and non-yarny adventures to be had in the PNW, especially if you’ll have a car- ferry ride to a fun yarn store/speakeasy comes to mind.
Hey Guys! Kevin I found myself talking out loud to you because I loved your Jethro color choices so much. Also, I vote yes on the multicolored sweater kit! I remember you saying you like to have a challenging project going. Ray, your test knit cardigan is GORGEOUS. The color, fit and rolled collar... chef's kiss!
So excited Let’s hear it for the boys is here 🤩 i cast on the flax for my 4 year old son already, and I have a few other patterns I’m planning 😊 great podcast as always
You can do it Kevin! My sister just completed a Marie Wallin and she said it looks harder than it is. Until recently, I was a copywriter for The Woolly Thistle. Definitely grab their kit. You won't be disappointed. Ray, I love your design feature and so appreciate your genuiness around this sort of thing!
I look forward to each and every one of your episodes and this one was fabulous. Looking forward to being at your first trunk show. So exciting! I say yes to purchasing the Marie Wallin kit from TWT. I took the plunge a few months ago and am not regretting my decision. Just do it!!!!!!
Hi boys another great post thank you I feel your frustration Ray my son is also colour blind with certain colours, yes Kevin I would get the kit for the jumper but it looks very complicated it would totally stress me out to knit it but it would look stunning, especially with those beautiful blue eyes of yours, stay safe look after each other would love to come to America and see all these wonderful yarn shows we get nothing really like that here in the UK we don't even have many decent yarn shops here in the North East of England where I live such a shame take care love Julie xxxxx
I know, I am nervous to knit it, but have really been looking for a challenge. I am currently practicing my flat colorwork knitting on a bulky cardigan
Hope to see you at Flock! Love both your color combos for your Jethros...I have struggled making a nice granny square, so I wont be making a Jethro this summer...but I'm taking the Learn How to Granny Square class on at Flock on Friday.
Hi guys!!! It's FINALLY NATRLHIFTB KAL time!!! 😂🤣😂 I have projects "waiting" (I picked patterns & wound yarn!! Several one skein wonders!!). If the Wallin kit is made from Wallin yarn: do it! She is a genius at picking colors that work and creating those colors. It's the difference between loving colors in the skein when they're held together and knowing how they will blend and pop in stranded colorwork. Gorgeous test-knit, Ray! Oh, the color of that yarn...
Little behind, but Kevin talked about his slip stitch. Have you tried the invisible join? Also to add length, how about a half square instead of a full square. Can’t wait to catch up and see the finished product.
Good podcast. I like that you are both working on Kay Jones afghan. Keep each other motivated. Ray your test knit looked great. Kevin I say no to the multi-colored sweater. Your shows would be so long while you name all 15 colors of yarn. haha
I use clover amour and tulip etimo crochet hooks when I do crochet. The etimo I use are not the square thin flat ones. Love them both best! To knit I am team chiagoo and the mindful collection circulars.
Always fun to hear what you two are up to. I have also been contemplating on whether to make a Marie Wallin Sweater Kevin. I would have to knit it in the round. It would be fun to pick out all the colours and I'm sure its not difficult because you are probably only using two colours...maybe three at one time. They are beautiful. Ive knitted a few of her tams(hat). Thanks for the episode! 🥰🇨🇦Sharon.
Well, that was exciting! (Though Justine did text me when she saw it, so I wasn’t totally surprised. 😂) I’ll definitely be at Skein for both Miss Babs and Les Garçons, so I’m sure I’ll see you! Thanks!!
Yes, Kevin, you should make the Marie Wallin sweater. Her designs are beautiful and you'd look great in that one. Ray, your Old Fashioned sweater is gorgeous, love how you made a mistake into very nice design element. It definitely works. Have fun at the Trunk Show. I wish I still lived near Mt Kisco.
Great video guys. Kevin, I know you didn't ask but with your Granny Square sweater I would ditch the rust colour and add in the mint. Just my opinion. Hugs to you both! 😘
Thanks for the suggestion, I may add that in some other squares as I do like it, I was trying to figure out how to have both color in the square, but didn’t like the combos I was coming up with.
Great podcast guys. I was holding y breath hoping you would mention if someone had reached out with yarn for Rays dads sweater. Knitters are the best people.

I own it the book and the kit . The yarn (Marie Wallin’s Aran) is gorgeous. And it’s easy to convert to knit in the round.
Good to know, thank you for sharing.
Thank you for leaving the mistake. I actually think it looks great! Beautiful knit, beautiful knitter, beautiful person!

Yes make the attempt. Get the kit💚💚💚

I use clover amour and tulip etimo crochet hooks when I do crochet. The etimo I use are not the square thin flat ones. Love them both best! To knit I am team chiagoo and the mindful collection circulars.
We are both huge Chiagoo fans and have a set on the mindful collection and use those as well.
🥰🇨🇦Sharon.
I am looking forward to getting a kit and making the sweater.
YES ! to the colourwork sweater.
Well, that was exciting! (Though Justine did text me when she saw it, so I wasn’t totally surprised. 😂) I’ll definitely be at Skein for both Miss Babs and Les Garçons, so I’m sure I’ll see you! Thanks!!
Congrats!! So happy you won.
That sweater is amazing Ray! What mistake? Definitely design element!😉
Thank you Elizabeth!
Luv u guys. It's a design feature
I think you should definitely do the colour work sweater but in vest format!!
Oh that would be really nice, I’ll have to see if the pattern has a vest option.
Thank you so much Jan! Ray’s sweater is going to be beautiful and I am so excited for the trunk show.
Yes make the sweater! But make the vest first as a warm up. You can do this!
Kit is so close to being added to cart 😂
Go for it, make the multicoloured sweater. Thank you for the both of you for such a great podcasts.
It will definitely be made, not sure when I will buy the kit.
Go for it, Kevin. Kim from Fleece and Harmony has knit a Marie W sweater that turned out to be stunning. Check out that podcast.
Thank you, I will check out her channel.
I'm on the 12th and final book in the Cradle series, so, Gratitude!
Yay!! We love that series, we also say apologies and gratitude to each other all the time.
Literally snorted at "I am Groot" 🤣🤣
LOL
Yes, buy the sweater kit
I am so close to getting it 😁
Kevin, of course you should get the color work kit.
Hope to visit the event!
We would love to see you if you could.
Great podcast guys. I was holding y breath hoping you would mention if someone had reached out with yarn for Rays dads sweater. Knitters are the best people.
Knitters are the best, someone always helps out.
That Marie Wallin would look amazing, go for it Kevin!
Have you tried alternating cable cast on and cast off? It makes a great edge.
We love the alternating cable cast on, not sure if we have ever done the cast off though, we will have to look into that.
My brother’s BD is June 26 as well. 🎉❤ Happy BD to your Mom, Ray!
Happy birthday to your brother!
Yes! You should...it'll be great on you!
Marie Wallin - yes. Ray’s test knit - yes. Ray’s comment about Kevin’s Library with way-to-many Stephen West shawl patterns - same here. ❤
OMG so many of his patterns, they are so good.
