A more accurate, and hence more humanistic less stigmatizing definition of addiction. Thank you for this legacy of your work!

I so agree with this topic TY. My marriage of 24 yrs ended. I surrendered to a life that was relapse /recovery rinse repeat. He had many addictions.
To say that the non using person does not understand……. Not all of us….. what Dr M speaks is so absolutely true. The core issue is never met in 12 steps
Hence rinse repeat. I knew some of his trauma however in his case I believe the child with in him was stunted @ some point. I pray he finds these channels
& goes inward to find relief. “The only way out is through!!!!!!” I rejected him I know ,I no longer had the band width to continue. Open the window see the view.

It sounds like addiction is a flight response thst becomes a habit that is unhealthy in the long term, its not a habit of moderation.

54:17 ty for speaking to this . I empathize with the addict. All these issues are so understandable. As a former spouse, the connection, coming to the platform of higher education, yearn to learn. To be fearless to know, as I am fearless to know and understand. Staying in my own lane and at the same time
    Understanding the dynamic.

I appreciate this doctor so much. I often share links with my 20 year old son. However, I gotta say it's becoming maddening listening to "first nation" being attributed to people who are not indigenous to America but came Asia...they migrated. It's a small point in this particular discussion but I'm sick of the false narrative. The indigenous of America were eventually conquered, the land was stolen, forced assimilation reigned then the people became victims of paper genocide. They are now called black or african- american. There are whole historical accounts of early explorers about the copper colored, dark or swarthy, bushy- haired people of the land but people prefer this lie. What kind of addiction is that?? Now... I digress.
