I always wondered whether Dr. Gabor Maté knows about IFS and Dr. Richard C. Schwartz this video answers my question. I tried CBT for Social anxiety for 20 years and I was left with social anxiety, fawning and people pleasing and toxic shame. IT did not help. IFS Model helps and Dr Gabor Mate, too.
@thebravespirit if you don't mind saying, did you do this with a therapist or independently? If the latter, can you recommend any books/resources that were helpful?
I found Richard Scwartz through a friend/therapist and immediately saw how it related to Gabor Mate's work. So here I am listening to both of these beautiful human beings offer their insight. Thank you Sounds True.
Wonderful. I hope these people might create a program similar to the Gupta program for chronic illness and limbic retraining…mold toxicity, fibromyalgia, Lyme, etc… I also wonder about how to help my kids navigate the USA and or modern world in a happy, fulfilled and successful manner.
Finding myself disagreeing somewhat with Gabor Mate. His approach and IFS are not the same just using different terminologies as he says. IFS offers deeper insights with parts work, categorizations of parts and the specific ways of reaching exiles. Maybe the intention is the same and the results are similar but to me IFS offers a real inner roadmap that no other approach does. I do appreciate Gabor very much but on that point I take some issue.

@@thebravespirit439 CBT is focused on symptoms. It cannot address trauma by shaming and nitpicking the by-products of abuse.

@@springwood1331 the one inside, is a great book to start to learn. Hope this helps you.

Beautiful and eye opening conversation. I appreciate to see that 2 of my favorite mentors see so much in common in their approach.
Thanks
Is overwhelming when brilliant minds work together! Thank you!❤
Is there a whole video? Or only this part?
The text in the description of this video suggests so. Not free though, it's an online course. Check the description, for the link.
It's a series. This is the first part of that series.
Should be following videos after this
