Man the OG trunchbull was just so iconic. Something about the og actor, and her age/appearance honestly matched. The new one didn’t so bad, but I honestly feel like she’s a little bit too old for trunchbull. The OG one had like a 50 year old strong, crazy women vibe, and she really just had an empowering image, but the new one feels like a 70 year old grandma that is somehow insanely strong….?

And yes indeed, it is nothing like the book or movie, they did there best on making it extra, so much that ms honeys parents backstory was completely changed, matilda suddenly has a second power, is a complete psycho and her sense of style was ignored. And not to mention they completely removed her brother. The story was also amazing because of the small details, the new movie doesnt have any of it. And lastly the hairstyles and settings and just the story was so excessive that it ruined the story.
This scene freaked me out when I saw it. Idk what it is but the throw looked wayyy more realistic in this movie. For a second I actually thought she picked up the girl by her hair! 🤣

This biggest problem with this version is that it's way too short. the original movie and musical had her flew quite a value to show Trunchbull's skill and create fear/expectations on how thripp will land, and that encapsulates the gravity of the situation and hold everyone's breath. They also had quite fearful buildups and a celebration when Thripp lands safely. The musical version also had some cool camera flashes. This version has none of the above due to how freaking brief it is. It also makes the thing unmemorable. Edit: Besides the length, this version's lighting and colors are also way more comfy, compared to both originals' washed out and intimidating. Trunnchbull also wasn't so intimidating here compared to the musical, but at least she was more intimidating than the movie.
you can’t compare the two. the original was the original and this one is a musical. it’s not supposed to be an exact remake. you have to change it to be like the broadway show

It looks like they put about a quarter if the effort into this as they did into the original. In this one, Trunchbull is just a miserable, abusive, and bitter old woman. In that one, she actually looked and acted evil and she was genuinely scary.
I was beside myself in stitches when I saw this scene. Baby Girl's jaw was on the floor. Her eyes looked like they were bulging out. It was priceless!! 😂😂😂
The German film is somehow better because the girl slips across the meadow. And. At the same time, flowers erupts with them. That's always a beautiful one.
This scene just proves how callous Trunchbull is, she doesn’t even care that she could have potentially killed her.
