Well, Matilda and Miss Honey should not have entered the house in the first place, because Trunchbull can come in the house anytime and catch them. That is the point.
Trunchbull is such an awesome villain. I love that she’s an Olympian, psychotic, smart enough to run her own school, and is also a confirmed murderer who stole an entire wealthy estate from a man’s daughter. The performance from Pam Ferris and Danny Devito’s direction makes her hilarious, but somehow the hilarity comes from the fact that she’s so over-the-top scary and evil it goes beyond reality. It’s hard to make a villain intimidating and funny at the same time without sacrificing one for the other at certain points. But even as she chases Matilda, the way she sniffs like a blood hound and brings the chandelier down from her sheer weight is uproarious.
I miss the kids movies from the 90’s and early 2000’s so much!! Matilda, Mrs.Doubtfire, toy story, just everything. Zenon on Disney channel, blank check, first kid, Richie rich etc.
To be fair she lifts the back instead of the front where the V8 is (presume it has one) but a couple of leaf springs & a live axle probably weigh a few hundred pounds on their own
@@visionist7 You're correct about the v8. The smallest motor offered in that car would have been the 401 C.I. The biggest would have been a 455, which was (I believe) the second biggest engine built by GM at the time, second only to the Cadillac 472
Most of the weight is on the front because the Buick is front wheel drive so she's deadlifting a fraction of the car's weight. Still impossible for any woman IRL.
If she can lift a car, she can lift a big kid or an adult kid and hold them in her arms. She's nice in real life, and I would like affection from her. Ha! 0:37 (Trunchbull exclaims and kicks a black cat in the air)
1:12 (Trunchbull shifting gears)
1:55 (Trunchbull lifts car and turns it around)

3:50 "WORMWOOD!"
4:13 "You what?"
5:02 "Who's in my HOUSE?"
5:10 "Come out and fight like a man!"
5:49 (Pots and pans clattering)
6:08 "TALLYHO!!!"
7:21 (Trunchbull scarfing the cake)
7:41 (Trunchbull running to the front door)
8:05 (More pots and pans clattering)
8:36 "Some rats are gonna die today"
9:12 (Trunchbull yelling angrily)
Trunchbull is so strong she can lift a car from either its rear or front.. makes me wonder if she's also capable of lifting larger vehicles like vans, RVs, buses, trucks, SUVs or pickup trucks with her hands
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
@@99mrpogi her strength could put Superman to shame

The funniest parts of this movie is "COME OUT AND FIGHT LIKE A MAN!" and Matilda's face as the junk is fallin towards her on their staircase 😂😂😂
This scene was probably so much fun to film. I hope for Pam Ferris’s sake it didn’t take too many takes to film because of the suit she wore to make her embody the Trunchbull was very warm and she said in an interview a little over a year after she finished filming the movie most days in LA it was over 100 degrees.
If it had actually been over 100 degrees, she would have had severe burns. Boiling water is 100 degrees. So what she said is hardly true.
@@Starsurfer1988 actually you can watch the interview yourself it’s from April of 1998, and it was a cool suite she wore that was like a vest and she talks about it on GMTV April of 1998 so type Pam Ferris into your search engine you’ll find the interview.

I found a recipe for the Matilda cake online. My daughter asks me to make it for her birthday every year. I grew up with this movie. This scene always gets my heart racing. Lol.

Pam Farris should’ve been nominated for an Oscar for her incredible performance which combines ferociousness and funniness, “Matilda” 1996 the first movie I’ve ever watched at a movie theater and is honestly still one of the best movies of all time just reminds me of how dumb down mainstream modern children/family movies has become.
Pam Ferris did such an amazing job at portraying Agatha Trunchbull! This has to be one of the most iconic scenes ever! So legendary, hands down.
I wish movies were this good again. But it's not gonna happen because the 90's were way better than today.
Debatable. For me, I just express them as more interesting, than "a whole lot better"
Interesting yeah. But the movies I've seen today? They look fake.
A cute moment at 3:07 where Matilda surprised Ms. Honey. A short but cute moment of mother & daughter ❤
Also the clothes they wore were so beautiful & simple (and yet I’m a boy) 😅
I’ve always wondered to myself how Matilda was able to climb up to the bottom of the table top without making noise and Trunchbull noticing… maybe she used her powers?

I’m wondering how she got down. She was gliding down like magic

As a kid this scene was so scary for me yet ironically, it was my favorite. 27 years later I can see it again & think that the reason it's so believable is because of #PamFerris. Her Trunchbull voice... wow. What an amazing actress she is. 😊
Yes, this scene is really scary for adults too.
Yeah. It scared my mom too and she watched it as an adult!
I used to really scared of this scene too the way miss trunchbull screams wormwood scared me as a kid.

5:52 STILL HILARIOUS!!!
I’ve seen this movie thousands of times and yet this scene still gives me anxiety.
Trunchbull is by far the scariest villain in a children's movie.
6:08 the best quote in movie history
9:12 the most insane rage in movie history
9:12 when you trying to kill the cockroach but got away

Trunchbull barking at a cat then kicking it like a soccer ball is everything.
Yeah Ms. Trunchbull should be arrested for animal cruelty.

The shots where Trunchbull has a look like she seems like she busted Matilda and Honey but actually takes heed of something else are so brilliant. @@Sigma0283 Trunchbull is a really bad and dangerous woman, and Matilda had gotten into trouble because she went into the Trunchbull's house. Well, Matilda and Miss Honey should not have entered the house in the first place, because Trunchbull can come in the house anytime and catch them. That is the point.
It might have been a way to keep Miss Honey from sneaking out when she lived there. The door was even boarded up!

@@visionist7 Yeah that's a possibility. It's hard to tell where Trunchbull was looking from that distance.
She must have no peripheral vision lol
Yes how did Mrs Trunchbull not see them there she is looking up before Matilda and Mrs Honey hide behind that piler?
8:43 I can't get over this part

I know its done with movie magic, but just the idea that a woman could pick up a 1970 Buick Electra 225 and spin it around is terrifying
To be fair she lifts the back instead of the front where the V8 is (presume it has one) but a couple of leaf springs & a live axle probably weigh a few hundred pounds on their own
She’s strong af least 300 pounds
@@visionist7
You're correct about the v8.
The way she kicked that cat was hilarious 🤣

1:56 Daaaamn ain't she that strong to lift that car.

If she can lift a car, she can lift a big kid or an adult kid and hold them in her arms. She's nice in real life, and I would like affection from her.
