  • Back out in the garage today to work on my custom 2016 Indian Scout Sixty. Melly and I are installing the 2022 Indian Accessory Tachometer kit. It's been a while since I've done anything new to the Scout. This marks the first actual bike project work since having to rebuild the garage. Can ya'll believe I've owned my Scout "Burt" for 6yrs now! Neither can I. I still love my Scout Sixty and I am so glad it's at home and no longer in storage.
Link to Indian's website for the part:

I really love the look of this min-tach on the Scout. It just adds another custom touch and frees up the digital display for other information. While it's fairly simple to install, to get to all the required bits takes a bit of time and a lot of patience. Be prepared to spend an entire day being careful not to scratch up your bike. More small project videos coming for the Sixty very soon.
Thanks for watching, it's always appreciated!
    Cheers!

I'm not really an Indian guy, but I love watching your channel. Definitely know the pain of not having enough hands sometimes. I don't have anyone to help, so I have to figure out a way sometimes. Bike is looking great and I like the mods you have made. I also like having an analog tachometer along with the speedometer. My biggest gripe about new bikes is the digital gauges.

I’m not really an Indian guy either but I am a scout guy. They’re great machines and are very exciting to ride.

I bought a $15 PITTSBURGH PRO 1/4 In, 3/8 In. Drive Dual Head Ratchet and a $29 PITTSBURGH PRO
1/4 In, 3/8 In. Drive Long Reach Dual Flex Head Ratchet from Harbor Freight. They are so much thinner than a normal ratchet I find myself using them all the time on my bike. Love your videos! Thank you! I'm still debating which Scout/60 I'm gonna buy but I already know I need that tach!

Mike you inspired me. I have a Scout Bobber since 2018 and when I see all the project in your stunning 2016 Scout I never want you to finish it XD. Always waiting for another upgrade.
I want you to know that I put in my bike the Fork Boots, Solorack, Wind deflector and new tank decall thanks to you, using the service manual also recomended.
...And I am watching the next upgrade in mine ;)
    Thanks for all.

    Look who's back! The Scout.
    Oh, and the two Renches!
I really, really like the new tach and the asymmetrical placement.
Great work as always and, again, congratulations on the new garage, it is awesome!

Thanks! The layout reminds me of my 1988 VF750C Honda Super Magna though on that bike the Tach was bigger than the Speedo. Cheers!

A tach is nice but I wish Indian would also make a Gas gage for the scout!

I’d been hoping they’d come out with a factory style tach since they had one for the octane in 2017, which FYI actually happens to work on a scout.
I finally bought my scout in late 2019, a new 2020 model. I actually wanted a tach so bad that I spent most of my free time last year trying to figure how to get one to work from the signal from one of the coil packs. It took several tries and a variation of resistors but I finally got it. Then I think it was just 2-3 months later Indian came out with this tach. It looks better than what I came up with, (though much more expensive) so I bought it.
I had the same issue you did with that spacer rattling, I found the lock washers that came with the “unused” U bracket filled the space perfect. I also actually managed to use the U bracket itself. It took some slight modification, but I got it to fit, and I think after a lot of time if the plastic gauge cup becomes brittle with age, the U bracket will greatly help to support it. It was a pain but I also managed to install mine without fuel tank removal. I still got the stock air box unfortunately, I find the fuel and electrical connector easy, but that dang air box makes tank re-installation terrible. So I wasn’t taking it off unless absolutely necessary.
Good to see you getting good use out of your new garage. I really enjoy you videos, and recently your video on the MSR decals was very helpful. I was kinda nervous cause they weren’t cheap to have shipped to the U.S., but I got them on with no flaws. So now I got a pretty two tone bike. Keep up the good work.

You should wrap the upper fork tubes with black MX number plate background or use Bikers Choice Rubber fork boots. Either one would look nice…

Every time I have to remove the tank I have the hardest time getting the gas line disconnected. Kills my finger tips pushing those tabs in.

Thanks for the video, great help for my own tacho installation. Question, I noticed you have a black cover on the 2 bolts of your luggage rack behind the seat. Where did you get this? Really looks neat!
