Project 2016 Indian Scout Sixty Part 10 (Custom Paint, Tank Pads, Bobber Emblems)

  • I put my 2016 Indian Scout Sixty back together after custom paint. TPN Color Lab did an epic job on painting my Scout's tins. Time to finally see what my vision for the custom Scout Sixty looks like in real life.
    It's been a long 3yrs of saving and planning, but its well worth the wait. IMHO this color combo really works. The custom mix of Jeep Rescue Green with added House of Color Gold Pearl Flake really pops in the sun. I am extremely proud of the results.
    I spend some time going over how to make custom knee pads using a Tech-Spec USA universal kit. I also take way too much time needing out on the alignment of the Scout Bobber emblems I choose to use on my Scout Sixty project.
    For the most part the majority of the custom work on my 2016 Scout Sixty is completed. This probably won't be the last video, but for this stage I consider my Scout complete.
    Thanks to TPN Color Lab for all the hard work and custom mixing of my one-off paint. I love it. Check them out online!!! You can ship bike parts for them to paint also.
    Great guys at TPN Color Lab!

    I have to admit that the color would not have been my choice, personally. (Like you, I'm a fan of the Indian Red. However, what would have looked REALLY killer on that setup would have been silver Indian warbonnet emblems on the sides of the tank to really hit that retro vibe. Overall though, really nice customization. I just binge watched your entire series, as I'm planning on getting a Sixty myself next season.

    Absolute beauty. Im out of words for this one. Tastefully done mate and trust me I don't say this very often. One small recommendations though, i see you have underbar mirrors i have the same kind and its very hard to see clearly behind, especially if you have a pillion rider, i did stick 3 inch convex mirrors onto them, fit perfectly and are much safer. Im a sucker for looks and i had almost compromised safety for looks but this hack works great.

    • @RenchRanch
      @RenchRanch  5 років тому

      Melly rides her own bike so I never carry a pillion on my Scout. Never had an issue with my mirrors, BUT for sure I'll consider the little convex mirror. Thanks! Mike

    are you sure the service manual doesn't say anything about not re-using the bolts (10) that hold the pump to the tank. ? Victory manual says not to re-use them. I do not know why. Also, I would of changed out the fuel filter while you had it apart. Great job with the color combo, looks excellent. Your belt is tracking correctly, towards the outside, just like it should.

    • @RenchRanch
      @RenchRanch  5 років тому +1

      For the Scout, there wasn't anything about not re-using the bolts in the service manual. There was only a torque spec and sequence for my bike. They didn't even have any thread lock or sealant. Maybe the design is different on the Vic's. My bike has hardly 3000 miles on it. The fuel filter just didn't need replaced yet. Unfortunately due to my crazy work schedule I just don't get to ride as often as I'd like to. If the bike had more miles on it, for sure I'd replace the fuel filter. Thanks for watching, much appreciated.

    • @RenchRanch
      @RenchRanch  5 років тому +1

      Thanks. Well to each their own. I can tell you the saddlebags aren't "cheap" LOL. They are Leatherworks made in USA (and 100% leather, very thick) and are extremely well made. Maybe it's the Easy Brackets that make it look that way. I like them. I wanted something a little more simple and narrow than the factory bags. I also wanted to be able to remove them quickly hence the Easy Brackets.
      Leatherworks puts an Indian-head Nickel style trim conch on their bags. Each are made to order by hand. You should check out their website. They really are well made.

      Did you purchase the parts from your local Indian Dealer? For me, I installed all the parts myself. I purchased them from my local dealer as they price match most on-line stores. I could have had them do the installation but I like to work on the bike myself. It really depends on each dealer. Some will install aftermarket pipes, fuel controllers, intakes, accessories, etc.. and some will not. IMHO finding a reasonable dealer who will work with their customer is as important as getting a good deal on the price. Most bikers install all kinds of aftermarket parts and accessories. My dealer Spartan Cycle usually is reasonable about warranty issues as long as they did the installation of the parts. For me I wasn't really concerned with the warranty mainly because I work on my own bikes.
      In your situation I think that you will need to call around. If your local Indian Motorcycle dealer won't instal the parts (and you can't do it yourself) you may need to find another shop to help you out. In theory, the warranty should still be valid unless a failure of an aftermarket part causes damage to the bike. Indian has no obligation to honor the warranty then. So it's usually up to the Dealer how or if they will handle the work. If you lived in the Michigan area, I would just recommend Spartan Cycle where I bought my bike. They are really a good bunch of people and work hard to help their customers. Best of luck finding someone to help with the install. Thanks for watching!

    Can an Indian bike sixty be fitted for someone of my height which is about 5 ft ??

    • @RenchRanch
      @RenchRanch  4 роки тому +1

      For sure. They already sit very low to begin with. Indian offers 3 different seat, handlebar, and foot control positions. In addition you can look at the Scout Bobber or Bobber Sixty. The Bobber's sit a little lower than the Scout. Go to a dealer and check one out. Thanks for watching!

    • @RenchRanch
      @RenchRanch  5 років тому

      I installed the parts myself. However my local Indian dealer (Spartan Cycle, Clinton Twp Michigan) is a DynoJet / PowerCommander dealer and have an in-house dyno. For my bike I really don't need to access the USB port as it was dyno tuned by Spartan and I didn't download any maps. My best advice is to work with your local Indian Motorcycle Dealer. Some are a lot more reasonable than others as far as covering warranty work with aftermarket parts. Thanks for watching.

    • @RenchRanch
      @RenchRanch  5 років тому

      I don't think there is. It's not a float type level sending unit. It's capacitive I think. I don't believe you can adjust the level. The Scout uses CANBUS so if your into hacking LOL ;-) Thanks for watching.

    • @Boobtube.
      @Boobtube. 5 років тому

      if it is like the victory's, which it prob is... it is just a temp sensor. It changes resistance with temp, which the computer checks and lights the dash light when resistance gets to a certain number. Gas is colder than the area that is not in the fuel. So if you want to have it come on sooner, you would have to raise it higher than it currently is. It is just a little round cylinder type device. With some ingenuity, you could raise it up higher so it is out of the fuel remaining sooner than it is from factory. good luck

      Eagle Lights 5" LED Halo Projector with the black background. It's a super easy swap though you gotta watch the spring clips. Also if your bike is a Scout sixty or Bobber, the retaining ring may be very tight needing the inside edge sanded down. The chrome one has more clearance. Just Google Eagle Lights and you'll find it. Cheers!
