If you think about it, Amazing Spider-Man series are kinda tragic story wise. I mean, he lost so many people that he loved/cares about, and still found the strength to carry on. I mean, that is tragic in it's own way.
Yeah, but it is poorly written with random plot threads that go absolutely no where are make no sense whatsoever.

Rishabh Das Maybe in an endless comic book series, but not in a film series. That is really the biggest reason why his villains are almost always never killed off by him. Lets not forget when he straight up blew up Venom in the 3rd movie or how Venom had the most brutal death ever in the video game for the 3rd movie (ps3 and 360 version).
Spiderman HAS killed before, even in the 616 comics.

This did feel like an improved version of the YMS version of this movie's review.
+Mason Felt Thats true. But to be fair, he did like review it like 2 or 3 weeks after it came out. So i bet the review could of been betterly (yes i know not an actual english word) edited if the DVD came out a little later. But yeah, essentially this is on par with the YMS review. Btw, nice to see a FMA fan. Nice indeed lol.
I always felt TERRIBLE for Max. I thought it was so sad when he was tortured, and when he got turned into Electro.
I just HATED the music. It's just so cheesy and feels like it came from Winnie the Pooh. A very underwhelming score which doesn't even come CLOSE to James Horner's score. He apparently turned the offer down to come back because he felt the movie sucked and knew it was gonna fail.

one thing i enjoyed about gwen in tasm series is that even when she was falling or even if she was getting attacked by a bear, she didnt scream. Kirsten dunst would scream when she would spill a glass of water, her whole dialouge was just screaming

Oh, now that you've said it, having an Amazing Spider-Man series would've been better than having the movies. They clearly wanted to tell a much longer story (considering how much they crammed into this film) and for some reason they decided to condense it into two two hour long movies instead. They could've easily have spent more time developing these characters if they were able to make a TV series instead of the two films we had. Maybe have all of the events that happened over the course of the first film be a series with Gwen's death being a cliffhanger to another series with the stuff that happened in the second movie. I am glad things ended up the way they did though with us getting Civil War, Homecoming and Infinity War with Tom Holland's Spider-Man. I personally haven't seen the Sam Raimi films so I can't really say anything about those films.

Great review! As for romance these movies are undeniably very good, but I prefer the love story of the first two Nolan Batmans. If you want to go back even further Bruce and Selina in Batman Returns is absolutely wonderful and heartbreaking.

I was just looking up that Electro soundtrack and the lyric is actually "He hates on me" instead of "He hates a me" which i think makes a little more sense
I really liked this movie when I first saw it, mainly because I wasn't really thinking about the story, and was just drooling like a little kid going: "Yay! It's Spider-Man!" But fuck this movie just gets worse the more you think about it. It's still entertaining, but you have to turn your brain off completely to enjoy it. Too many subplots, too much set-up for sequels and spinoffs, and the script is completely nonsensical (But what do you expect from Orci and Kurtzman?). I think Garfield is great for the role, but I really don't like Peter Parker in this movie. He doesn't feel like a socially awkward nerd like he should, he feels way too trendy and "cool, and down with the kids bro." I don't really blame Garfield for that though. And while the costume is really cool (the big eyes are fucking awesome), it looks too similar to the Raimi suit for me. It even has a similar brick-like pattern if you look close. So while the movie is superficially enjoyable, it just falls apart the instant you start to think about the story. Can't wait to see Tom Holland's Spider-Man in Civil War.
I heard Tom is a great Peter Parker like Toby McGuire AND a great Spider-Man like Andrew Garfield.

He’s a much more young Peter Parker. Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man is 17 when he became Spider-Man. And, Tom Holland’s is 15 in homecoming and 16 in far from home.

Great review as always. I agree that the deleted scene at Gwen's graveyard should have been kept in for an ending. Also quick question: What's your favourite movie version of the Spiderman suit so far (Maguire/Garfield TASM/Garfield TASM 2/Holland CP:CW)?
+tarantulaguy1998 I honestly quite liked the TASM1 suit. Even though Chris Stuckmann compared the texture of it to a basketball, I still think it looks cool.
+The Unusual Suspect I'm personally tied between Garfield TASM 2 and Maguire, I love the sleek look to the TASM 2 suit but I love Maguire's for how different it was to the comic versions plus I personally prefer the idea of organic web shooters than the artificial man made ones in TASM 1 and 2. I must admit, I also really like the look of Holland's suit in Civil War. Yeah it looks a bit CGI and robotic in places, but I like it as a cool throwback to the comic style of the suit.

Well here's something interesting to think about. What if Gwen was still going to be the love interest but the enemy too.
At the beginning of the next film, Spiderman has finally come to terms with his new life at college, supporting his aunt and maybe even supporting gwen's family after her and her fathers death. Then, the green goblin escapes to revive gwen and make her his sidekick to tear Peter's heart and make him loose his identity of the smart, charismatic and cool headed superhero and makes him vengeful, angry and act like venom did too peter in third film. Only, no venom, just peter really heart broken and vengeful. But to cool his head and give him he's groove back, his dad (Who was alive thanks to a deleted scene in the second film) reveals to peter why he's compatible with the spider venom, showing what made him spiderman. Then peter goes and faces of green goblin, finds away to make gwen good again and they finish off harry.
I think if mark webb and sony still had garfield, they probably would have something like that in mind. I would actually like to hear webb's thoughts about the third film to see if the second on would be better if the third came out too
I think Suspect's reviews are like holidays in the way that you wish they came sooner , but when they do come out , you're so happy that they're finally here

The Unusual Suspect You should give those games a try. I've played Ultimate Spider-Man on PC and it's a really fun game, only problem is the story for the game is really short. As for Spider-Man 2 2004 game on PS2. I never played it. I heard it's really good, but I had to play the crappy PC version of Spider-Man 2 video game. -_-

In my opinion both of the Amazing Spider-man films are utterly mediocre,it said that it was gonna try something new but completely repeated Raimi,then this film was pure sequel baiting and overly convaluted (more so than Spider-Man 3).Raimi's trilogy is far superior.
For me TASM1 is a better film than S3 or TASM2. But S3 is still *vastly* more superior to TAS 2. I agree with you on the subject that TASM2 is a horrible piece of shit.

Quick question Suspect, what did you think of The Force Awakens? I thought it was incredible with the exception of a few mistakes, but the main thing that annoyed me was it was too similar to A New Hope.. Did this weaken the movie for you?

But I must say this, while I agree Peter and Gwen's relationship in the Amazing Spider-Man series is really good, Deadpool and Vanessa's relationship in Deadpool was amazing and it's probably one of my favorite superhero couples in film. Have you seen Deadpool? If so, you're missing out!

I thought it was pretty good when I first saw it. and then I noticed a lot of mistakes and bad story telling in the film on 2nd viewing. But now I'm excited to see Marvel's version of Spider-Man

I just realized something.
Sony made this reboot in the first place because Maguire and Raimi were too busy to shoot a 4th movie and the right were about to expire.(somewhat understandable)
But, according to one of the leaked emails from Sony. Andrew Garfield had a falling out with Sony over this movie and was quitting after ASM2 rapped up(So even if the series continued, Garfield would not be playing Spidey)
But, this begs the question.
Why didn't you guys just recast Peter for the Raimi series?
It seems you're okay with recasting. So, if you were under a strick time limit. You could've just recasted Peter and Mary Jane. Kept Raimi as an Executive Producer, and hired someone who worked with Raimi that knows his directing style and tricks. Like one of his D.o.P. Heck. Bruce Campbell directed episodes of Heracles and Zena. He could have worked.

Maybe instead of recasting, maybe they could have told the adventures of Miles Morales. And still recast Peter and others. They could have electro be the villain cause he killed Pete in the comic, and have miles fight him at the end
Actually, I had a better idea. Have Raimi's series become part of the MCU, explain that after Spiderman 3, Peter lived a normal life, and everything was fine because Iron Man came into the scene, and soon, other superheroes took care of things. Peter kept his costume locked away, and he never opened it cause Harry's death was too much to handle. But then the Chitauri invasion of New York happened, and Peter felt guilty for not assisting the Avengers. So he shows up in Civil War, now about mid 30's or even 40 years old.
I would have preferred that over having a 15 year old Spiderman who involves himself with the Avengers right off the bat.
Actually, I liked Tom Holland more than Maguire.

WeirdoTZero it's not that they were busy, tobey wanted to be in the 4th film but raimi was unhappy with the script and the pressure from Sony to add things he didn't want, so he just quit being the executive producer and spiderman 4 was cancelled, also garfield didn't show up to a Sony event and got fired I don't think there was a falling out
Great review. I am glad to see someone else liked the Richard Parker deleted scene. A lot of people miss the blindingly obvious fact that it's setting up the plot Harry had in the comics where he has the parkers come back like nothing happened only to turn out to be robots (or better yet clones like in the ultimate universe).
This movie was too busy hyping up future sequels then making a good movie.
