Hey guys, just a heads up about this video. Had to do some tinkering with the audio as record companies were putting copyright claims on it and taking my revenue. So if the audio gets kinda glitchy at times, apologies.
I actually did some research about older actors playing younger characters, and I found out that normal High Schoolers didn't have enough charisma and experience, while older actors had both, and they couldn't rewrite a script that took place around high school, just to cast someone who is older.
It’s also selective appearance like if you’re a teen and have a face full of acne oof they ain’t gonna cast ya.....or you’ll just be cast as a background character
Fantasy Connect ...Then why didn't Connors use spiders as a base for his limb-regeneration project? Don't some spiders qualify as mammals? They'd be a lot easier to work with than lizards when it comes to genetics, wouldn't it?
True and in the comics spiderman does have an advanced healing ability white it's not as fast or as extensive as say wolverine or deadpool but he can recover overnight from injuries and illnesses that a normal human would take days or even weeks to recover from
To be honest I love this movie but I hate to say your right. I almost feel bad for Marc Webb,it is a good movie could have been better if Sony didn't exist.... I do love Playstation though.
The whole point of Spiderman and Peter Parker is that you'd never expect them to be the same. The Sam Raimi trilogy got that and that's why you don't believe it's Tobey in the suit.
32:57 Spiderwebs were actually used as bandages in ~ancient times~ before we found out about things like sanitation. And it's actually a much better idea to leave the bullet in until you can get a professional to look at the wound. Trying to get it out risks making the injury _much_ worse.
I just realized that the deleted scene where Peter is asked "why did the mutation work on you and not on Curt?" was deleted because that question was answered in the second movie (also explaining why the mutation did not work on Harry).
I agree with the high school part, but as for andrew garfield not looking nerdy enough, ill put it like this, what was nerdy back then is not what is considered nerdy now, in the modern day world the nerds of 2000 don't exist at all, they took the smart approach by letting him be more a socially awkward person with a shy personality who dresses kinda scruffy(or like skater) and he doesn't really care to much about his appearance. The way he looks in this film seems spot on for the modern day.
And finally Marvel gives us an actor who is the perfect portrayal of both sides of peter parker with the awesome Tom Holland. God bless Marvel casting and so looking forward to Homecoming. Love your stuff by the way sir.
Actually in my opinion Tom just brings a mildly more energetic Peter parker to spiderman when in the comics in the beginning there is a huge juxtaposition between spiderman and Peter I think tom has the potential but marvel won't let him use it
The Amazing Spider-Man is the most average superhero movie I've ever seen. It has some major strengths, like the chemistry between Andrew and Emma, the wise-cracking Spider-Man is back, the characters are interesting, and the fight scenes, as few as there are, are pretty cool. However, there are aspects I don't like, such as the darker tone, and the dull factor to it at times. It's not a bad movie, but it's not a massive hit either. Personally, I like The Amazing Spider-Man 2 a lot more than this. I expect a flame war about now for saying that.
I thought TASM2 was a lot better than the first one, but after giving it a few more watches, it also had it's share of problems. The sequel wasn't the best superhero film this year, but it was much better than the sequel, which is what a sequel should do: surpass the previous film.

Thank you for uploading it early! :D Or atleast in my timezone it's still the 28th (only 6:45pm when I posted this comment) so maybe it's the 29th for you, but either way this just made my day ten times better since Episode 44 of DBZA was uploaded on TeamFourStar's website earlier today. Carry on with watching the fantastic review. ;D
Something you've had me notice while watching this review (for the one-thousand time) , in this film. it's shown that Richard Parker worked with Curt Connors on the Araneus Oscorpeus. yet in Amazing Spider-Man 2, it's shown he worked with Norman Osborn on the project. inconsistency much?
I actually REALLY enjoyed this film. I loved that Spidey was super nerdy but also rebellious and did all of this research, and I like all the secrets and the detective work.
I loved Dennis Leary as captain Stacy you could tell he cared for his daughter his family and the city you know unlike the captain Stacy in spiderman 3 who just stood and watched as his daughter hanged on dear life and didn't show any motion and waited 3 or 4 years to tell Peter who killed uncle Ben
THANK YOU! Exactly what I've been saying about Tobey Maguire as Peter Parker. Tobey is totally relatable. He did the awkward nerd perfectly. That's how I was like in HS (finished 8th grade the June after Spider-Man 1 came out), I was the social outcasted nice guy, who got bullied on a lot, and just like Tobey's Peter (lunch room scene), I many times awkwardly froze up when talking to a girl I liked. Andrew's Peter, with his personality and looks, I find it hard to believe this guy is the nerd who'd be a prime target for bullies. PEOPLE, HE LOOKS AND SOUNDS LIKE Pretty-Boy Beck from Victorious (the show starring Victoria Justice). That initially made me think Garfield was Canadian.

OMG YOU REVIEWED IT. FINALLY! Cant wait to watch through it! Also, get to work on that Amazing Spider-Man 2 review! :P and Captain America The Winter Soldier
Well he'd have to do first avenger first and trust me I can imagine all the how the fuck could you be this stupid jokes and where is Kitty Pryde or Nightcrawler or dr Sam Beckett when you need them. And I love that movie but I'm willing to put away my love to point out these potential jokes.
12:42 - That would be the Joker's reaction if he ever saw Batman singing. I'm not kidding - Batman singing is a real thing! Just type in "Batman Am I Blue" and see for yourselves!
+Super Gamer61499 It's actually a slow operahouse song that feels very natural for him. It's not like he's singing country. Plus they don't give it more than a minute of screentime.
Unusual Suspect, the bit at the end about Andrew & Tobey made me so happy. I have thought that for soooo long and now I've found someone who literally has the exact same thoughts as me.
Great review Suspect, as usual! Thanks a lot for the hard work. Solid points you made there. You really should be paid for this. And I mean a lot. You have talent.
Another amazing review, Suspect! (Pun intended.) I cannot for the life of me understand why anyone would choose to watch this over the first Raimi film. If I'm in the mood for a Spider-Man origin story, I would always go for that one.
This review was hilarious! You do the "trigger-happy sadist" thing even better than the Nostalgia Critic does (one thing I've always wondered is that he listed "Gansta style" as his 11th favorite cliche, but he NEVER holds his gun sideways in any of his reviews... Huh.)
37:25 Okay, why is this suddenly happening now? Whenever a video sounds static, it means it's about to go all silent for a moment? It happened to Nostalgia critic, now here? Am I the only one noticing this?
13:48 funny enough, Andrew Garfield was in Doctor Who once, he was in the episodes "Daleks in Manhattan/Evolution of the Daleks" of Series 3, which aired in 2007.
I think if Sony hadn't rushed out the movie, and Webb didn't cave to the reaction of the trailer, this would be much better. Though, even if its far from perfect, many aspect still far surpass Rami's version. Even if many scenes are reused, they're just made better.
***** Not just technologically, I mean in execution. Take the difference in how Peter dealt with Flash and Uncle Ben's reaction to it. Rami: Peter physically attacks and overpowers Flash in a fight. Ben literally says "you're not supposed to fight back and you're not supposed to run away." Webb: Peter humiliates Flash in a nonviolent way. Ben is upset for an actual reason, he had to change shifts at work to talk with the principle and also has to pay for the shattered backboard. Also, I love how the first Amazing Spider-Man movie didn't have a perfect replica of the suit. There was an actual process to its creation while in Rami he just sort of has it. Not to mention, even if Garfield played a "too cool" Peter Parker, he still played him as a genius who was also an inventor (both ASM movies have at least one scene of Peter doing science to improve Spider-Man). There are dozens of other details that Webb hit, that Rami either missed or failed at.
***** Rami couldn't even handle those qualities. His first non-human supervillain wasn't until 3 (Sandman). He also thought that there was no way a teenager however smart to could build Webshooters. I say, if you're having issues with the most basic aspects of the character, you done fucked up already. Its not clashing with "realism", its allowing the source to be seen more seriously. Its the difference of Green Goblin looking like he's dressed as a Power Ranger vs wearing actual armor.
Eric Coldfire Um, Ben in the Raimi film had a much better reason to bet upset. Peter actually physically hurt Flash, which could have gotten him into trouble, while in the Webb series Peter gives Flash a good comeuppance. Shattering the basketball hoop was an accident, but Ben seemed a lot more upset that Peter "humiliated" Flash.
The fundamental flaw with this film (and in extension it's sequel) is that it was focusing more on setting up the next film than actually making this one good. The potential was certainly there. Andrew Garfield is a great lead and the direction is very impressive; but so much was sacrificed to make cash and spice up the next one it ultimately seems wasted. That and the back-story was... lets face it... fucking stupid. The whole point of spider man is that he chose to be a hero as it was the right thing to do, the back-story completely negates that.
Hopefully they'll do it correctly in the next movie (let's face it, TASM2 made enough money for a sequel) hopefully it isn't focused on setting up the next film. :\
well, as far as Uncle Ben dying, neither of the movies did it exactly right in terms of taking it straight from the comic. the burglar that kills Uncle Ben was actually trying to rob their house and it was just Aunt May and Uncle Ben there.
You, you do realize that uncle ben dying and "With great power comes great responsibility." are super essential to the spiderman story? They also explored the alternate universe in which uncle ben survived in a what if comic. Peter just became a greedy jerk in it and used his powers for money.
You do bring up great points about the movie, but there is one thing I disagree with you on. None of the scenes were "copied" from the Sam Raimi's Spider-Man movie. The reason why the scenes are identical to the scenes of that movie is because both movies are based on the same fucking comic. So of course there are gonna be many similar scenes. (EDIT: No, I was wrong. It's not like the comics, it really IS copied from the first one. I apologize for getting that wrong.) As for me I enjoyed this movie a lot, and I prefer it over the Sam Raimi's spider-man movies. Having said that I think they're good movies as well.
I'm sorry but most of those scenes have nothing to do with the comics, no Amazing or Ultimate spiderman comic had scenes like those, and especially not frame by frame like Amazing spiderman the movie does to the Sam raimi films, I'm sorry but you know that those scenes were direct knockoffs. I like this movie, but I felt that it wasn't really original with most of what came of it, usually just ripping off of something else, other than peter and Gwen's interactions.
I honestly don't think this comment deserves all these thumbs up, because I made a blind assumption based on nothing as I didn't even read any of the comics. Wol1427 called me out for that, and he's right.
This movie rode off of that late 2000s / early 2010s fashion of making superhero movies dark and realistic. Despite that, they manged to use a giant lizard as the main antagonist...
Please do a review of The Amazing Spider-Man 2. I want to know your thoughts on The big scene towards the end. Not going to spoil it but it did hit home for most. Thank you.
I think that probably the biggest problem with The Amazing Spider-Man duology is the fact that these films combined don’t take enough risks, yet take things too far. The Amazing Spider-Man played it way too safe by not only adapting the source material again, but also copying a lot of scenes from the Raimi films. The Amazing Spider-Man 2, however, takes way too many risks by including way too many plot elements to the point where it feels like a jumbled mess. The second film was basically a checklist of what was supposed to happen in the future. These two films couldn’t really find a balance between safeness and riskiness, which is why these two films kind of suffered heavily.
I had a weird experience with this movie. I thought it was ok when I saw it in theaters. Then I got the blu-ray and saw the deleted scenes, then I hated it for a while. (Damn you Sony!) Then one day I cam across it on TV, and for some reason I freakin loved it!! I guess as a standalone movie, ignoring the Rami films and the deleted scenes, and watching it just for entertainment, it's really strong! Also, I find the film to be really good from an symbolic point of view. One can spend days analyzing the themes of responsibility and how one's actions can lead to the overall outcome of a future conflict. But that's just my opinion.
This movie review is really great; The things you say in almost every movie review makes me think and reflect. This here is no exception. Plus, I was in a very bad mood but 34:06 just made me feel a lot better.
ideas for reviews for next year: alien, aliens, alien3 and alien resurrection. It would be interresting to see you review a horror franchises. And i think al your other subscribers agree
Hey Suspect, if you thought rebooting batman in 4 years is to short, just look at how spider man is going to be in civil war and that is only 2 years after the amazing spider man 2, hes going to get rebooted again, but at least its worth it, because we are going to see him in the marvel cinematic universe!
Ahahaha, the way you pronounced Rhys Ifans was bloody hilarious! It's a Welsh name but you gave it your all I can tell ( im Welsh that's why it got me going) 😂😂😂
But suspect, you have to remember, the Raimi film took inspiration from the comics. The reason why Uncle Ben was shot and killed was due to Peter's refusal to stop the thief. That's what happened in the comics, Webb didn't copy Raimi at all. It all came from the comic.
Yes but we didn’t need to see it on screen again, and the whole scene was very similar to the Rami scene. Especially with the whole “I missed the part where that’s my problem” and the “not my policy” line
I think the first movie was great, it is the second one that has too many problems in it. Edit: And even though there are many problems with The Amazing Spider-Man 2 I still love it.
McGuire is the best Peter Parker. Garfield is the best Spider-man. The only thing I prefer this over to the Raimi films would be the main actors and characters. The female lead actually had something to do with the story. Besides that, the story in this one is just very average. The villain's developments are half baked. Besides the main characters and CGI fight scenes, there really is nothing to care for.
Brilliant review! The points made were excellent, the pace was perfect and the entertainment level never went stale, even though it was 48 minutes long. Really impressed, keep up the great work! :)
An absolutely hilarious review suspect!!! I died at the F*ck you moment, and I respect your view on the film (this is my 2nd favourite Spider-Man film after TASM 2). Keep up with your comedy it is just unique and very comical... Great review 😃😅😝😀
Actually for the record you have a damn good point nobody in my High School is like this and really it's unrealistic that a lot of people would egg him on this much. Oh man LOL Holly Wood how about you guys go to an actual High School and study how it is really with the students, teachers, etc. Because honestly I can tell you as a person who is in 10th Grade that you are absolutely correct even if me and you are in different countries.
I'm just saying, look up pretty much any picture of Peter Parker from the comics. Dude is always drawn as very attractive. Saying Peter can't be attractive is kind of ridiculous in my opinion. People don't need to look or act like Tobey Maguire to be bullied. This Peter is socially awkward, feels like he's different from everyone else because of his intelligence and probably spent a great deal of his formative years depressed as fuck because as far as he knows his parents abandoned him for no reason. I find it pretty realistic a guy like that wouldn't be very popular.
Spencer Malley Did you not even read what I wrote? Anyone can be bullied. Not every attractive person in the world is popular. Like I said, there are many reasons why the ASM Peter would be bullied.
When Steve Ditko was drawing the comics, Peter wasn't pretty like Andrew Garfield, just attractive in a way that was nothing to write home about, keeping up with his 'just an average guy' portrayal. I think that's what most fans have in mind for him in the way of live-action adaptations. Maguire and Holland fit the bill, but Garfield not so much.

It's ironic because spider-man was rebooted even faster from 2014-2016 (2 years!!!)

Maybe Avengers: Infinity War in 2018 and then Amazing Avengers 2019!
Next reboot will happen before homecoming even comes out lol

Peter is teased not because he's a nerd, but because he's such an introvert and awkward in conversation. Even handsome kids get bullied in real life.

No, most likely any bullying would call for suspension
Unlikely, plus if they did get bullied the bullies would be suspended no questions asked cause schools have REALLY cracked down on this kind of thing.

+Super Gamer61499 It's actually a slow operahouse song that feels very natural for him. It's not like he's singing country. Plus they don't give it more than a minute of screentime.
I know he did it to save Wonder woman wen she was turned Into a pig
And now spider man is getting rebutted in only 2 years after his last movie
Tru dat
but its a worth it reboot
Hehe butt
I’d say for me this would be the ratings:
Spider man 1: A-
Spider man 2: A+
Spider-Man 3: B+
Amazing Spider-Man 1: B+
Amazing Spider-Man 2: B-

Unusual Suspect, the bit at the end about Andrew & Tobey made me so happy. I have thought that for soooo long and now I've found someone who literally has the exact same thoughts as me.
"Aunt may gonna kick your ass if you don't think peter is .... good" lol I fell of my chair laughing
Great review Suspect, as usual! Thanks a lot for the hard work. Solid points you made there. You really should be paid for this. And I mean a lot. You have talent.
When I first watched this review I hadn't seen Game of Thrones so I had no idea who Theon Greyjoy was. But now I understand that reference.
Same.
This also applies to when I watched the Attack of the Clones review.

@@nebby947 Hopefully, the video will be restored one day.
7:14 You got your wish with Tom Holland, dude!
+ThatStrangeSuit I don't know about that. Not liking some of the things i'm hearing about his characterisation.
13:48 funny enough, Andrew Garfield was in Doctor Who once, he was in the episodes "Daleks in Manhattan/Evolution of the Daleks" of Series 3, which aired in 2007.
Will there be a review on Star Wars episode 7: The force Awakens
Yep; I plan to review all the Star Wars episodes :)
+The Unusual Suspect awesome looking forward too it

Darth Sarcom so 2,999,990?
I think if Sony hadn't rushed out the movie, and Webb didn't cave to the reaction of the trailer, this would be much better.
Though, even if its far from perfect, many aspect still far surpass Rami's version. Even if many scenes are reused, they're just made better.
*****
Not just technologically, I mean in execution.
Take the difference in how Peter dealt with Flash and Uncle Ben's reaction to it.
Rami: Peter physically attacks and overpowers Flash in a fight. Ben literally says "you're not supposed to fight back and you're not supposed to run away."
Webb: Peter humiliates Flash in a nonviolent way.
*****
Rami couldn't even handle those qualities.
Eric Coldfire This is a Sci-fi movie and that's why stuff like a giant lizard man is believeable as long as there is an explanation.
Eric Coldfire This is a Sci-fi movie and that's why stuff like a giant lizard man is believeable as long as there is an explanation.
Eric Coldfire
Um, Ben in the Raimi film had a much better reason to bet upset. Peter actually physically hurt Flash, which could have gotten him into trouble, while in the Webb series Peter gives Flash a good comeuppance. Shattering the basketball hoop was an accident, but Ben seemed a lot more upset that Peter "humiliated" Flash.
27:20 , I don't know why I find this so funny, but this is the best insult I've ever heard
How come everyone just ignored the fact that the hulk got rebooted after just 5 years
ColourTheCookie Because everyone forget the original movie
Sony is not making just a third amazing spiderman, they are making 3 new amazing spiderman movies
The problem with casting teenagers is that, they don't always make the best actors. And then there's school to worry about
well, as far as Uncle Ben dying, neither of the movies did it exactly right in terms of taking it straight from the comic. the burglar that kills Uncle Ben was actually trying to rob their house and it was just Aunt May and Uncle Ben there.
I get so exited whenever I see one of your reviews in my subscriptions list!
Spiderman on drugs. LOL.blublublubalubalubalubaluba.
The unusual suspect is pretty unusual gotta admit.
You, you do realize that uncle ben dying and "With great power comes great responsibility." are super essential to the spiderman story? They also explored the alternate universe in which uncle ben survived in a what if comic. Peter just became a greedy jerk in it and used his powers for money.
That story was fuking depressing
You do bring up great points about the movie, but there is one thing I disagree with you on.
None of the scenes were "copied" from the Sam Raimi's Spider-Man movie. The reason why the scenes are identical to the scenes of that movie is because both movies are based on the same fucking comic. So of course there are gonna be many similar scenes.
(EDIT: No, I was wrong. It's not like the comics, it really IS copied from the first one. I apologize for getting that wrong.)
As for me I enjoyed this movie a lot, and I prefer it over the Sam Raimi's spider-man movies.
Wol1427
Alright, I admit it I was wrong. And this was a blind assumption.
I honestly don't think this comment deserves all these thumbs up, because I made a blind assumption based on nothing as I didn't even read any of the comics.
Wol1427 called me out for that, and he's right.
*****
Well, I have no reason to edit the comment.
I said something wrong, but I don't hide that.
Well it's still a good movie none the less.
Thank you.
abiel998 Well the wait will be worth it then.
RIP Jerry Springer (February 13, 1944 - April 27, 2023) 18:30-18:48
the waiting for amazing spidey 2 review has started
i was crying when you said "that way, we would never forget" BEST EVER
This movie was pretty good. But this review was AMAZING.
That sounds like my opinion, except I'm still in the "haven't watched it in years" stage.
This movie review is really great; The things you say in almost every movie review makes me think and reflect. This here is no exception. Plus, I was in a very bad mood but 34:06 just made me feel a lot better.
11:01 Why, hello, Simon Masrani.
ideas for reviews for next year: alien, aliens, alien3 and alien resurrection.
9:17 I can't breathe XD Ahhh...Don't ever change, TUS. I love ya.
you know you are a cool movie reveiwer. i hope you can make more review. heres a request: Can you make a review for Amazing Spider-Man 2
You've outdone ourself with this review. Superb job and thanks - these are always well worth the wait.
Or if the characters are named Thomas and Martha Wayne
Great video again suspects! And also thank you so much for the Spyro Year of the Dragon skateboarding soundtrack during in the first minute! :D
Wait, so why did the lizard attack Peter again?
Keegan Stormblade plot requires it
Ayush Shah Ah!
Ahahaha, the way you pronounced Rhys Ifans was bloody hilarious! It's a Welsh name but you gave it your all I can tell ( im Welsh that's why it got me going) 😂😂😂
Suspect, you need a theme song
But suspect, you have to remember, the Raimi film took inspiration from the comics. The reason why Uncle Ben was shot and killed was due to Peter's refusal to stop the thief. That's what happened in the comics, Webb didn't copy Raimi at all. It all came from the comic.
Yes but we didn’t need to see it on screen again, and the whole scene was very similar to the Rami scene. Especially with the whole “I missed the part where that’s my problem” and the “not my policy” line
I think the first movie was great, it is the second one that has too many problems in it.
Edit: And even though there are many problems with The Amazing Spider-Man 2 I still love it.
no these film's still suck
@@jessicapinkman-xm2eg
That is a matter of taste and opinion.
26:36 you should have put ITS OVER 9 THOUSAND
No. 20 thousand is moar
Brilliant review! The points made were excellent, the pace was perfect and the entertainment level never went stale, even though it was 48 minutes long. Really impressed, keep up the great work! :)
who's watching in 2021?
13:54 omg him having flashbacks to 3 would be hilarious
Review The Amazing Spiderman 2, please.
An absolutely hilarious review suspect!!! I died at the F*ck you moment, and I respect your view on the film (this is my 2nd favourite Spider-Man film after TASM 2). Keep up with your comedy it is just unique and very comical... Great review 😃😅😝😀
The original Spider-man film and The Amazing Spider-Man 2 are my favourites
thank you for all the hard work you put into these reviews. i really enjoyed this and all your other reviews, great job!
Only schools like mine would and by that I mean everyone would stand and watch

PLEASE TAS2 I want to see it you make the funniest videos
THIS IS AWESOME. Your movies reviews are amazing. Please do more reviews
Yeah, it's just most people only really know Peter from the Raimi trilo- Uh, duology, if that's even a word.
I just can't get on board with the idea that a guy who looks like Andrew Garfield would be a bullied outcast.
Spencer Malley Did you not even read what I wrote? Anyone can be bullied. Not every attractive person in the world is popular. Like I said, there are many reasons why the ASM Peter would be bullied.
People who look good can be bullied, yes, but people who can make women say they were wet whilst watching them won't get bullied.
Can't wait to hear what you have to say about The Amazing Spider-man 2.
