I had a black lad named rex for 13 years. He was my best friend and the most caring dog I have ever encountered. He just wanted to be friends and help everyone. We put him down last October when we found out he had several fast growing and aggressive tumors. His tail kept going until the last second and he laid his head on my dad's lap while he was going. I will never forget him.
Mine died on my chest while I was sleeping. I never allowed dogs in my bed... Pele had his own big bed, right by my bed. But the night he died, he got on my bed while I was watching a movie. So, I told him to go back to his bed, so he did. Then I fell asleep... the next morning, I felt this weight on my chest, that was his head, nostrils facing my nostril... Next morning I was in despair, I was completely disoriented... I couldn't believe he was just trying to say goodbye the night before but been an idiot that I am, I didn't connected the dots. I knew our goodbye was approaching, but he was so healthy. I was expecting him to live at least for another year. The veterinarian told me so. He died at the age of 16 and a half, with no health problem at all. I never gave him any food from the supermarket, I always prepared his food. He loved polenta Italiana, with garlic, black pepper, sea salt, olive oil, beef broth, and chunks of tender steak, mixed with rice and apples. We went to Italy, Portugal, Spain, and Brasil together... If your dog is getting old, be aware of weird things that they do at the end that they are not supposed to do, like getting in your bed, or sofa, or if they are starring at you constantly... Pele was constantly starring at me at the end... I knew what was going to happen, I gave him many hugs, and kisses, and carried him on my arms many times, and I was getting ready for the moment of his departure, but missed by my stupidity... don't be like me. Because of that I never got another dog... Pele died in 2016.
My black lab died today. She was only 8. She had kidney failure. Maddie only lasted about 1 week after we found that out. At the end she would try to get up but would fall over and start breathing really heavy due to low red blood cells. We decided that it was not a good way of life so we a few hours ago we took her to the vet and she did not come back. Maddie will always be with us. Remember that if you have lost your dog. They will always be there with you and they will always love you unconditionally.
I am getting a black lab puppy next month and have been watching every lab video out there. This video put a smile on my face the whole time thinking of whats to come!

I just lost my lab of 11 years to cancer. I got her the day before she turned 8 weeks and I can still remember the day I brought her home in my mind. When i was still living at home we had a black lab. His name was Sam. We had him from 1993 till 1998 ,5 years. He had a hartvalve problem. He was a great dog. Today is sunday 10 april 2022. Greetings from Belgium.

I used to have a 14 year old black lab rescue named Bridger. He was the sweetest and kindest dog I have ever encountered. He is scared of balls and sticks, because he was abused as a puppy. He was due to be put down the day after we got him. He was a big lovable giant. Don't think I will forget him. He kept whining as the vet took him for him to be out down. In the end, he had a good life, and I will always remember him.
I adopted a black lab with white chest yesterday!! He was abused by his last owners and has very bad anxiety. We slept together last night and went for a few walks so far. Hes slowly getting comfortable with me!! Very grateful for Onix. I love him so much. Hope he doesn't get tired of my affection!! 💓🥰🥰😇😇😇
Mine too! My puppy has white chest and white underpawsm. I think she is not a pure breed lab but maybe mixd. A friend gave up her and gave her to me. I am her third owner within 2 mos since she was born. She is so malnourished. She has hookworms, a bad case of alopecia from may be the ticks and fleas, and i don't think she has been bathed at all. I feel so bad for my Elisabeth.

This brings back so many memories of my now 7 or 8-year-old black lab from when she was a puppy, She was and still is super cute to this day but I always go www when I see the picture of her when she was a puppy being held in my sister's arms.

Bear was the best friend I’ve ever had. We met when I was 8 years old and he was a 8weeks old. I lived with my Aunt, the day she brought bear home he and I were instant buddies. As we both grew in age he always knew when I was feeling down and would try and coax me into playing our favorite game which was chase. I miss ya buddy
Just had to put my Sadie down today due to bone cancer. Please do not ignore any golfball sized bumps on their knee joints. Best dog anyone could ever have. She spent 11 years as part of our family, hiking and camping. Your dog is so beautiful...love her and enjoy every minute you have!

I had a black Labrador just like that when I was a teenager and he was a damn good dog too. Very strong as well. His name was Duke and he was good watch dog as well. Along with a German Shepherd and a purebred husky. They'd let us know if we had company or an intruder. But I remember one night, I could hear a police siren and the husky would howl Everytime that happened. But along with her, the other dogs started doing the same thing. Duke and the German Shepherd. Even a couple of years later, we had a beagle and he howled at sirens too. But sadly, all those dogs are gone now. The husky died of natural causes about 12 years ago and the German Shepherd died about 6 months after. Duke got loose one night and ran away. Never saw him again. The beagle, I'm not sure what happened to him. We gave him to a neighbor who was living down the road cause we moved into this house and they had a "no pet" policy on the house. Which I hate about renting places. Anyway those were the best dogs I ever had, they were the world to me and I sure do miss them.
Got a black lab puppy a little less than a month ago. Wonderful dogs and extremely intelligent. Be prepared for a lot of walking and running, they are energetic.
When I was little my parents got a lab and I remember that day she came home. She was such a good dog but she had to be put down a few years ago. She was already older but I cried the whole time at the vet. With my job now I don't know that I'd be able to care for a dog the way I'd like to or should but hopefully in a few years I'll be able to :)

My Dogs name was Storm. My family got her back in 2006 for free on the internet, she was a black lab/great dane mix but she never grew that big. She liked going to the woods for a long walk and chasing squirrels around the path like it was going out of fashion, but she loved swimming. She would bark at everything that walked by our house. Back in 2008We had to sell our house due to everything going on. no matter where we moved after that, we had no choice but to give storm away. I always wanted to take her but my work hours were too much, it would have been unfair to Storm, she was getting older and deserved better. By 2013 My sisters friend took her in and looked after her cause his dog was friends with Storm. We would always visit her when we could. She passed in 2017. She was the best dog ever and my greatest friend. RIP Stormy.

There's a lot of online training programs or offline ones jst pick one for u and ur dog not just for ur doggo. Online ones r good because it's a class for u more than ur puppy. If you do everything the way they tell u nd be a good leader nd strict when u have to be, You'll be fine.
Training from day one. Definitely make sure the pup has safe toys to chew on cause Lab puppies are notorious for chewing on everything they can put in their mouths. Otherwise I'd say they are the best dogs on earth. Fun, energetic, loving and protective.

I just lost my dog last night, i love you very much Gracie!🌹💐😔 Thursday night She had kennel cough but stopped yesterday morning. She layed down right next to me before I left to go work Hours later. she threw up blood out of nowhere and coughing my mom cleaned up the mess. Then my mother was laying down with Gracie then moments later she was gone. Like wtf happened? 😔💔 rest easy Gracie!🐾💐🌹⚱️ she was a black Labrador and a wonderful dog!! 🐕❤️ Only 5 years old she was a rescue dog she was thrown out of a pickup truck in Alabama when she was a puppy. A woman behind that jerkoff pick up Gracie. Months later in 2017 my family pick her up from the animal rescue shelter. ❤️ She was a cute sweet girl I just happy she was with us!!!

I have a very stubborn labrador, very poorly listens in training and harmful often. Before him was a three-color bull terrier, so he was smarter, just the charm and handsome, he lived for 15 years!
My Cooper is a yellow lab. 7 1/2 months old. He's a handful but boy is it worth it. My wife and I are retired and Coop is keeping us young. We have a Preserve in the back of our house...hiking trails, lakes, streams. Been in our home for 30 plus years. Really only took advantage of the Preserve when the kids were young. Well that's all changed with Cooper. My wife and I are walking 5 miles a day with Coop. We live on Long Island so our Preserve has loads of ducks and geese in it. It's heaven for Cooper. Loves the water. Loves walks on the beach too. Great dog.
My baby lab brother was 1 year 2 month old. I couldn't do anything with out him I couldn't live . My life is full of black now . He was passed away. I love my dog very much.
I've raised and trained four family pet and gun dog Labs in my lifetime...it has been my experience they stay a puppy until about 2 1/2 years....then they turn into a serious dog.

Labs are one of my favorite dog breeds. I always recommend getting a puppy over an adult dog, even though you will deal with chewing and accidents. It’s actually easy to house train a dog

Awesome! Just be prepared for the nipping/biting puppy stage, that can be little bit annoying and Labs are big experts on nipping and biting during their puppyhood. Not all of them do it, but most of them do it a lot. Just be prepared for it, it is the only "annoying" thing about their puppyhood, be patient and dont worry, they will grow up from it. Other than that, Labs are incredible puppies (and adults as well). I never had more affectionate, emphatetic, playful, lively, fun to be around dog.
@@Rocadog Hi again, well when I first read your reply about the nipping/biting I just couldn't believe it and thought no way. But boy was I wrong, shortly after reading ur comment my little 3month old black Lab started nipping and biting. He loves to just walk up from behind and nip me on the leg, not hard but you can definitely feel it. and now he gets in moods mostly at night he will start barking at me and snarling incessantly and the nipping too. I' blown away I had one other Lab many years ago and he never did anything like this but this new one sure does. When will he grow out of this stage any idea? Thanks !
Last year my dads dog named sugar died I miss her a whole lot she was a old dog though she was a pit she was the sweetest pit i ever saw We frist met her when she came to the house by herself she was a stray she just came to my dads door she was a very good girl i miss her so very much. She got very sick and needed meds but it got very very bad and then one day she died and we made a grave for her its still there to this day at my dads house it has a angel above it watching her she will always be remembered We miss you sugar
I started socializing him the day i brought him home (8 weeks). And you can start with the easiest commands immediatelly as well (teaching them their name or sit). But only do it for few minutes in one session, small puppies can be concentrated only for very short time periods and you dont want to make the training boring for them. It is better to make more short training session, rather than one long. With puppies, i always use only positive reward techniques - always praise them and give them treat when they are doing good job. I have some videos about how i taught my dog sit, stay, come, heel and lay down on this channel if you are interested in that.

Sorry to disappoint but the chewing doesn’t stop at 4 months. My dog is 11 months and didn’t stop until he was 6 months old. We got him when he was 5 months

Just had to put my Sadie down today due to bone cancer. Please do not ignore any golfball sized bumps on their knee joints. Best dog anyone could ever have. She spent 11 years as part of our family, hiking and camping. Your dog is so beautiful...love her and enjoy every minute you have!

I had a black Labrador just like that when I was a teenager and he was a damn good dog too. Very strong as well. His name was Duke and he was good watch dog as well. Along with a German Shepherd and a purebred husky. They'd let us know if we had company or an intruder. But I remember one night, I could hear a police siren and the husky would howl Everytime that happened. But along with her, the other dogs started doing the same thing. Duke and the German Shepherd. Even a couple of years later, we had a beagle and he howled at sirens too. But sadly, all those dogs are gone now. The husky died of natural causes about 12 years ago and the German Shepherd died about 6 months after. Duke got loose one night and ran away. Never saw him again. The beagle, I'm not sure what happened to him. We gave him to a neighbor who was living down the road cause we moved into this house and they had a "no pet" policy on the house. Which I hate about renting places. Anyway those were the best dogs I ever had, they were the world to me and I sure do miss them.

Got a black lab puppy a little less than a month ago. Wonderful dogs and extremely intelligent. Be prepared for a lot of walking and running, they are energetic.

When I was little my parents got a lab and I remember that day she came home. She was such a good dog but she had to be put down a few years ago. She was already older but I cried the whole time at the vet. With my job now I don't know that I'd be able to care for a dog the way I'd like to or should but hopefully in a few years I'll be able to :)

My Dogs name was Storm. My family got her back in 2006 for free on the internet, she was a black lab/great dane mix but she never grew that big.
She liked going to the woods for a long walk and chasing squirrels around the path like it was going out of fashion, but she loved swimming. She would bark at everything that walked by our house.
Back in 2008We had to sell our house due to everything going on. no matter where we moved after that, we had no choice but to give storm away. I always wanted to take her but my work hours were too much, it would have been unfair to Storm, she was getting older and deserved better. By 2013 My sisters friend took her in and looked after her cause his dog was friends with Storm. We would always visit her when we could.
She passed in 2017. She was the best dog ever and my greatest friend.
RIP Stormy.

I honestly, cried one night without my parents hearing me, because I really wanted a dog. You raised him really well. Please tell me how you managed to control him. Then i might be able to prove to my parents that i am responsible.
There's a lot of online training programs or offline ones jst pick one for u and ur dog not just for ur doggo. Online ones r good because it's a class for u more than ur puppy. If you do everything the way they tell u nd be a good leader nd strict when u have to be, You'll be fine.

Training from day one. Definitely make sure the pup has safe toys to chew on cause Lab puppies are notorious for chewing on everything they can put in their mouths. Otherwise I'd say they are the best dogs on earth. Fun, energetic, loving and protective.

I just lost my dog last night, i love you very much Gracie!🌹💐😔 Thursday night She had kennel cough but stopped yesterday morning. She layed down right next to me before I left to go work Hours later. she threw up blood out of nowhere and coughing my mom cleaned up the mess. Then my mother was laying down with Gracie then moments later she was gone. Like wtf happened? 😔💔 rest easy Gracie!🐾💐🌹⚱️ she was a black Labrador and a wonderful dog!! 🐕❤️ Only 5 years old she was a rescue dog she was thrown out of a pickup truck in Alabama when she was a puppy. A woman behind that jerkoff pick up Gracie. Months later in 2017 my family pick her up from the animal rescue shelter. ❤️ She was a cute sweet girl I just happy she was with us!!!

I have a very stubborn labrador, very poorly listens in training and harmful often. Before him was a three-color bull terrier, so he was smarter, just the charm and handsome, he lived for 15 years!
When my mom and dad move in a new house in 2 days we will get this beautiful puppy doggo!

My Cooper is a yellow lab. 7 1/2 months old. He's a handful but boy is it worth it. My wife and I are retired and Coop is keeping us young. We have a Preserve in the back of our house...hiking trails, lakes, streams. Been in our home for 30 plus years. Really only took advantage of the Preserve when the kids were young. Well that's all changed with Cooper. My wife and I are walking 5 miles a day with Coop. We live on Long Island so our Preserve has loads of ducks and geese in it. It's heaven for Cooper. Loves the water. Loves walks on the beach too. Great dog.

My baby lab brother was 1 year 2 month old. I couldn't do anything with out him I couldn't live . My life is full of black now . He was passed away. I love my dog very much.

I've raised and trained four family pet and gun dog Labs in my lifetime...it has been my experience they stay a puppy until about 2 1/2 years....then they turn into a serious dog.
I had one Lab in the past and he was puppy like his whole life :-D But yes, i agree with you that most of them mature between 2-3 years of age
I had two white labs,one for 15 years one for 14 years they were the best times absolutely adore Labrador’s my favourite dog.I love all animals but labs are a special gift from God.

Labs are one of my favorite dog breeds. I always recommend getting a puppy over an adult dog, even though you will deal with chewing and accidents. It’s actually easy to house train a dog

Awesome! Just be prepared for the nipping/biting puppy stage, that can be little bit annoying and Labs are big experts on nipping and biting during their puppyhood. Not all of them do it, but most of them do it a lot. Just be prepared for it, it is the only "annoying" thing about their puppyhood, be patient and dont worry, they will grow up from it. Other than that, Labs are incredible puppies (and adults as well). I never had more affectionate, emphatetic, playful, lively, fun to be around dog.
@@Rocadog Hi again, well when I first read your reply about the nipping/biting I just couldn't believe it and thought no way. But boy was I wrong, shortly after reading ur comment my little 3month old black Lab started nipping and biting. He loves to just walk up from behind and nip me on the leg, not hard but you can definitely feel it. and now he gets in moods mostly at night he will start barking at me and snarling incessantly and the nipping too. I' blown away I had one other Lab many years ago and he never did anything like this but this new one sure does. When will he grow out of this stage any idea? Thanks !

Last year my dads dog named sugar died I miss her a whole lot she was a old dog though she was a pit she was the sweetest pit i ever saw We frist met her when she came to the house by herself she was a stray she just came to my dads door she was a very good girl i miss her so very much. She got very sick and needed meds but it got very very bad and then one day she died and we made a grave for her its still there to this day at my dads house it has a angel above it watching her she will always be remembered We miss you sugar

I’m getting my first lab puppy in two weeks, what techniques and age did you start to train him
I started socializing him the day i brought him home (8 weeks). And you can start with the easiest commands immediatelly as well (teaching them their name or sit). But only do it for few minutes in one session, small puppies can be concentrated only for very short time periods and you dont want to make the training boring for them. It is better to make more short training session, rather than one long. With puppies, i always use only positive reward techniques - always praise them and give them treat when they are doing good job. I have some videos about how i taught my dog sit, stay, come, heel and lay down on this channel if you are interested in that.

Sorry to disappoint but the chewing doesn’t stop at 4 months. My dog is 11 months and didn’t stop until he was 6 months old. We got him when he was 5 months
