- You rejoin me on the Motorcycle Road Trip as I ride to a Tesco supermarket in Oban, in search of the elusive Brussel Sprout.
Later, the search continues for an equally evasive campsite - Oban Holiday & Caravan Park . . .

Hey Kevin 👋, I just noticed a couple of naysayers in the comments who don’t particularly like these motorcycle journeys but I couldn’t disagree more. As much as I love you and Aslan making your way through the canals I’m really enjoying this series. What a wonderful way to visit towns, villages and countryside that I’ll most likely never get to visit. I also love your comments from the road, fun and informative. Keep riding my friend, enjoy yourself ! Love from Florida. 🧡🤗🧡
Thank you so much for your support and viewing, it's truly appreciated 🙂
I would do it with one of those nice motorcycle trailers though, not a fan of laying on the ground anymore, a bit old for that. lots of small really nice trailers out there nowadays.
@@MissingLink-hb9ov Yes, I see quite a few of those on the road in my state and you don’t need a big truck to haul them. 🏍️😃👍
@@CountryHouseGentcurious of you creators hide comments which are not exactly "nice", or it is hidden by YT itself. Thanks
I tend to leave and ignore the not so nice comments, unless they're deliberately rude, insulting, ignorant and so on, or the commenter doesn't know when to stop. Then I delete/ban.
Love Aslam and the canals but this makes a nice change. Keep up the good work.
Kevin - I just wanted to tell you how much my wife and I are enjoying your 'bike' travel VLOGs. Every time we comment on how beautiful the countryside is and for us it is a great/wonderful change from narrow-boating videos. We are looking forward to the continuation of this series. Stay safe and keep them coming.😀
Awesome, thank you Dan. This road trip goes through a lot of incredible and varied scenery.
I too am enjoying CHG in a different setting. If one does the same thing every every day tedium can creep in. I like the something new from you, it’s both interesting and stimulating. Very enjoyable.
Many thanks Rikki.
Another great episode,cheers Kevin ❤
Another fine ride and beautiful campsite. Thanks, Kevin!
Thanks Kevin, beautiful country ride, looks very clean. Keep me posted, Charlie from Pennsylvania 😊
Thanks Kevin, for more beautiful scenes and twisty roads up there in what looks like Canada or Switzerland, then finished with lovely campfire grub. Take care and all the best. Stevie
It's CHG....that's main reason I figured out it is Friday, already. Looking forward for some wonderful scenery and the ride.
It's Friday???
🎉🎉🎉🎉🤘
I love this tour. It's the closest I''ll ever get to riding a motorbike. Feel like I'm there. Can't wait until next Friday.
Great as always.. keep up the great work!!!!
Doing a bit of a splurge and doing episode 4-7 in one sitting. I have to say you make it all look enviable. My husband says the same about the practicality of electric vehicles in all but big cities. When we’re riding around in his 1977 Ford F150, the engine music is half the fun. Well done once again!
Thank you so much for watching and enjoying. Yes the sound of the engine is the biggest attraction for me.
Friday comes around quick. That’s fine by me. It means a new episode from Kevin. Always a good thing ❤️
Hi Kevin! You've done an outstanding job with this series. I am enjoying it very much!
Hello Kevin! Spectacular views! Thank you for taking us on your marvelous journey!
Another wonderful trip with the best place to dine at the end of a day!
Yes it was incredibly picturesque - and eerily quiet. 🙂
My son overheard you you picking your way through the parking lot and was convinced you were channeling Eric Cartman. He kept waiting for you to demand somebody respect your authoritah. What a great installment kevin. I can't get over how spectacular the scenery is and the beautiful weather you are getting so far. Cheers! 🍻
Beautiful country when it's not raining!
And cold.
And windy.
thanks again for the ride Kevin in gorgeous Scotland and nice haircut! Happy trails from the USA!
Kevin - I've waited till a good portion of the "season" unfolded. And I'd like to urge you to completely ignore the "go back to the boat" comments. I was tempted to write one myself. Glad I didn't. I'm really enjoying the Scotland trip. The scenery and the towns are incredible, as are the ferries. Lots of vicarious joy. Sure, I'll welcome Aslan back as a series regular - the bike doesn't have the personality of the boat. This is more of a solo video series (and great fun on its own, including narration), whilst the Aslan videos are a slower "buddies flick." Cheers! (I'd like to see more pubs).
Many thanks for the support and thank you for watching.
Kevin, we just got the electricity back on at our house today since hurricane Beryl barrelled through Texas last week. We were without power for seven days. Last Friday, a friend of ours graciously allowed us to borrow his generator. We powered up a window air conditioner, the fridge, wifi, and of course the TV. What did I find on UA-cam? A notification from CountryHouseGent about your ride through Scotland. I was glued to each episode. It was so refreshing and a great break from the stress caused by a category 1 hurricane and the relentless Texas heat. I have watched your channel since your journey began on Aslan. And now, I am enjoying your videos from Scotland. I have always been fascinated with Scotland, but have never been. What I have seen has been through the lense of documentaries. I must say, your videos offer a unique view of the country. I love the countryside, the towns, and your commentary along the way. I look forward to your next video. Wishing you good health and many years of safe travels wherever you may roam. Best wishes from Houston, Texas!
Sending best wishes to you Scott. I can't imagine what it's been like for you, without any power AND the stifling heat. I went without power for 2 weeks when I lived in the north of England. Was in the winter but the intense work brought on by cutting up 13 fallen trees after a hurricane hit the UK, and a fire at night kept us warm. The least I can offer is the distraction of some road trip videos. 🙂
Hi Kevin, was really looking forward to your new videos but having been to Scotland in a RV and a three month open calendar we went everywhere. Was looking to see you on our same roads and revising these precious sites!,
Please stop and enjoy where you are, it is the most incredible place with such fascinating history!
Go steady with 'Every little health' Kevin!!
The bike has a nice note to it when you open it up a bit. Living the dream.
Thanks for the ride Kevin. Quite enjoyable.
Ahhhhh! Friday afternoons, the intro sounds of southern rock and the soothing tones of an BMW R1200GS Adventure, the beautiful scenery of Scottish isles, and an IPA. What a great life!
Laughed at you " re-charging " the bike...😂
Long live ICE....
All this talk about range and charging times, and the solution was under our noses the whole time. 😁🤫
Hi Kevin, thank you for sharing your adventures. The scenery is beyond beautiful and it’s lovely seeing the communities.
So beautiful and even quaint countryside and it is enjoyable seeing more of the area. Thank you, Kevin.😊
What a beautiful spot for dinner! I especially liked that fast charge though. Keep the dirty side down Kevin.
Many thanks and cheers for watching.
Ha ha! I had to laugh when you said you were "recharging" your bike.....I thought, is this bike electric?? No, just the difference in expressions---over here in the US we say "fill up with gas or petrol" for internal combustion engines, AND recharge for electric ones! Great series by the way! :-)
I am very much enjoying the motorcycle trip Kevin. Some familiar places so far. You’re about to move on to some places I’ve not been before and I’m looking forward to the rest of the journey with you. We are all lucky to be invited along on your holiday.
A pleasure to share the journey with you Richard. This journey goes through a lot if incredible and varied scenery. 🙂
Just living your motorcycle road trip. Really enjoying it. Thanks for sharing it with us x
Really enjoying the Scottish Island motorcycle vlogs. Nice change of pace. If in the beginning that was a Mr Bean impersonation, it was spot on. Cheers from Florida 🌴🌴🌴👍
Absolute escapism, our family adore watching all your adverures Geoff. Thanks again for taking the trouble to show us all the beautiful places you visit.
Great video as always Kevin.
What! No gravy & Mint sauce. Controversial Kevin. Just kidding. Those lamb steaks did look nice. Great video.
Another great one! I love the narrowboat videos but this is making a nice change. I am really enjoying these motorcycle touring videos and will enjoy when you get back to Aslan. A little variety to spice up life.
I appreciate that Keith, thank you. 🙂
See "Long Way up", as I know you have, for the "joy" of electric motorcycles. What a pain.
Indeed and thank heavens for a large industrial diesel generator on the back of a diesel lorry to charge the bikes and pickups - but remember, they did it on electric bikes. 😆 (P.S. Strange how no one refers to that series as an example of an electric road trip 🤔).
Can't beat the view from that campsite...but you missed a gem of a site passing Roseview. We have camped there for years, and in pod too. Sign is misleading, unless things have changed in past 4yrs. If ever you are that way again, give it a try. Loving your trip around west of Scotland, makes me want to do it all again!
Some lovely little camp sites Kevin! And some handsome weather to boot. I fancy some sprouts now...
Evening Kevin......."what, what, what!!!" Cracking video as always, thank you so much. We so look forward to our "kev's up" treat on a friday it's, the best half hour of telly all week. Such a beautiful spot to enjoy your sprouts while resting in your chair. You really did pick the right weeks to travel concidering what the weather has been like this summer. Thanks again Kevin, really appreciate these video's. All the best for now, floss and Jan.
Yes I think I will visit that part of Scotland myself I went to that pub you went past in Stoke some time ago you told the plume of feathers that was a nice never met him there though disappointing 👍
Gosh what fun!Great spot So glad your having a great time! And especially for sharing all this with your very lucky viewersll. Bon Appetito!🤓
electric bikes are very nice in heavily wooded areas, a quiet, slow ride in the trees. But outside that, you are right.
Hi Kevin, I've been a sub since watching you on Amazon Prime when you first pulled up to Aslan thinking "what have I done buying a narrowboat"? I've enjoyed every season you have created. This Motorcycle Trip series is absolutely incredible I'm sure it was a challenge, but well worth every bit of energy. Cheer mate!!
Ah thank you so much Bill, that's what I like to hear. Very pleased you've enjoyed watching and thank you for subscribing. 🙂
Another beauty Kevin, many thanks!
Always enlightening and enjoyable! Thank you, Kevin!
Kevin, the blue of the water next to the campsite was amazing. You struck blue-gold there.
Good ride Kevin! Am glad that you were able to find your green veg to add to your dinner! 🥘
Great video again Kevin, You keep finding these lovely camp site's, Enjoy.
Dave and Elaine.
Your worse than me in a car park 😂great video and wot a camp site
Ha yes Ian, there's always a better parking space. 🙂
A weekend this summer without a brilliant ride in Scotland with you would be like . . . a spam sandwich. No soul. 😉 The landscape continues to be spectacular, as does the weather. It is as it should be, Kevin. Worth the wait. ☀️🏍️⛺️
What, no places in Scotland that serve pork pies or lamb vindaloo?? I figured those would have already been mapped out along the route.🙂
scotland looks absolutely beautiful the palm trees in the earlier episode were a hoot, good old gulf stream..
Kevin - I'm really enjoying your motorcycle journey through Scotland. Scenery is amazing and I know I will probably never have the chance to visit. Thanks for sharing and the quality of the videos is outstanding.
Excellent, Kevin. It’s a real treat to ride along with you, see all these beautiful sites/sights, how you deal with different aspects of road tripping. Your sprouts, asparagus, and lamb looked scrumptious! Thank you for having this fabulous idea! See you next time from over here in Portland, Oregon.
Great ride Kevin. Such stunning scenery!🏍❤🤗
Every week I watch these amd my heart drops that I won't be up in Scotland this summer, first time in many many years (Covid lockdown excepted!).
Hi Kevin, try some piccalilli or Tomato on your spam sandwich lovely 😂 great video as always
Spam, spam, egg, tomato and spam?
I wouldn't mind taking a roller coaster ride along these roads you're traveling Kevin, soaking up the views and opening up the throttle just a little bit more. Feel the air rush all over me giving me the chills and thrills of a life I yearn to go back and do it all again. Happy days. 🖖👍See you on the next one.
Another great episode. Thankyou. Take care.
Really pleased to hear that Carol, cheers for watching.
Another good video, the weather seems to be kind to you, another good site with a view,
Hi ya Kevin, you have no idea of how much we are enjoying touring with you on your bike in the Highlands of Scotland. Each week we cant wait until the next one. Thank you for sharing your journey with us.
Thank you so much John, it is fabulous to hear how much the series is being enjoyed and appreciated. 🤗
Those lamb steaks looked perfect, as did the sprouts; but the asparagus needs to retain a bit of crunch for my palate.
Thanks for another delightful vlog!
Oh so inspiring to follow your journeys on the road as well as the canals! At 68 years old it really makes me feel like just getting out there if only puttering around on a smaller bike! My boating consists of my 17’ Grumman canoe and 10’ Pelican kayak on the lakes in the mountains 20 minutes away! Keep the great videos coming! Oh btw I do wear one of your T shirts when out on the water!!!
N̈ice one Cyril, ...... err Kevin. !
I hope you can do the journey in 20 years !
If the Petrol Companies, had got their acts together, EVERY Petrol Station, would have had a Line of electrric Stalls, instead of moaning about EV's !
And to give you that authentic Motor-Bike sound, you could do what we used to do as kide, ...... stick a piece of cardboard in the spokes. !
Just lovin' this series !
Stay ICE cold in the Islands. !
Stu. Xx
I do like your crash helmet, especially the mechanism to lower the dark visor in an Action Man styleee! Very cool and practical.
Liking the scenery and the fact that you are enjoying the ride so much.
Good viewing.
Thank you so much for watching, appreciated, cheers. The visor reminds me of the helmet in Airwolf, the TV series 🙂
@@CountryHouseGentoh wow. CHG watched Airwolf! ❤ Don't know why that surprised me. I can only imagine you watching Faulty Towers and maybe Red Dwarf.
@@kfrerix9777I think that is a given. Manuel! 🤣
Hello,Kevin, I had to laugh at your soapbox talk about electric motor bikes, but I do get your point. You took us through some lovely country scenery in your quest to find a camp site. What an idyllic spot to cook and eat your dinner. Heavenly! Looking forward to the next episode.😀
Good times .. good memories
Marvellous!
I thank I could hang around Oban a good long while Kevin. Safe journey.
Missing the Asian vlogs though scotland is beautiful my best mate is in Dundee I've never been up that way though think I might follow your footsteps loving this 👍
I can highly recommend visiting any part of the Scottish mainland and islands. Extremely unspoilt.
I remember using another campsite along there several years ago, perhaps the same one that closed. Always amazing views along that stretch
Good morning! Hope you are keeping well. Lovely episode, I could almost smell that Gorse (the bush variety, not the narrowboat 😁). Hope the facilities weren’t too far away on the campsite, especially as you ate all those sprouts! 😎
Wait a minute… a fried spam sandwich with cucumbers on toast with mustard can be quite engaging. But if the spam was cold, unheated, I completely understand. 😍🤟
Keep on doing the gratuitous shots of the bike, it's a good companion and better than any Sinclair C5 type device. Also, beautiful scenery and well paced so that we can take it all in.
Hiya Kevin, wow Scotland looks fantastic there so clean and fresh .
We was looking at Stornoway are you going there in your adventure of Scotland by any chance mate???.
Am really enjoying all your video's really interesting 🤔🤔🤔.
Take care and Thank you for sending me this video X X X
Many thanks for watching Susan. Check out part one, where I detail the route and islands I'll be visiting. 🙂
Was that a cuckoo in the background while you were eating your lamb? Lovely vlog of a beautiful place :)
Yes it was. Heard many cuckoo's on my travels.
Well done Kevin trip so far so good food looked amazing has did the views tc now the oldies 👍👍
Hi Kevin another beautiful ride I love the little one lane roads we have an abundance of them here in Kentucky the county side is awe inspiring the only problem I would have with your camp sites is I would never want to leave ❤ Thankyou for sharing your adventures stay safe 😊
Spot on, Kevin! The faux eco warriors will have to pry my beautiful combustion engine and manual transmission vehicle out of my cold, dead hands. EVs and the associated hysteria are utter bollocks.
Like your rides with beautiful scenery. An electric Harley has a 95 mi range,1 hour recharge. But then you would only have wind noise to listen to.
Fuel in Tobermorey, Salen and on the road to Iona.
Hi kev I'm glad to see that you are enjoying your time away from the canals ..
You mentioned electric vehicles . I own once owned one for a very short time..
What you said about them is spot on.. they are a nightmare when you intend to travel long distances..
Although many people will argue that they are not. Perhaps they enjoy looking for working charging points and spending time waiting for the thing to charge up enough to get to the next charging point.. sorry but my time is precious to me ..and I don't want to spend it worrying about charging the battery of a glorified milk float.
Anyway kev keep safe and well mate.
Beautiful 😊
Impressive BT microwave tower for comms to the islands
I saw that too!
btw just seen an example of thumblining - opening lock gates with rope with a slip hitch that falls back into the boat when the pressure is released. Good for single manning.
Good video thanks Lee
Hello Kevin, oban?? I hope I didn't miss spell the name of the area.... it is quite lovely. I enjoy the journey. As a child on vacation that was always a lot of fun. You can explore new areas you wouldn't have visited. Oh! your camp site is an amazing spot. So looking forward to the next. Each week Scotlands beautiful Island's do not disappoint. Just lovely. Thank you Kevin. Happy travels see you in the next one.
Loving this Kevin. I’ve been to Oban many times but your showing me bits I never knew existed. This weeks view from your tent is just begging to be dipped in 😅
I did 'dip' a finger, Martin. A little on the nippy side but yes, looked inviting.
HI Kevin, just to say stay safe and enjoy your holiday.
Bin there nice fish and chip shop there as you turned right ,with the red car in front of you .That is Oban.
Kevin Had A Little Lamb
Did I just see a map of Scotland taped to your bike? Now that is the ultimate hands-free navigational technology! And you’ll confound all the Gen Z kids as well! 😂
Indeed you did. It's a map book and sits in a clear map pocket on top of the tank bag.
Hi Kevin enjoying the ride !
Hey hey it's Friday and Kevin is on the way! Another beautiful ride! I agree that having an electric bike is not as efficient and the nice hum of the motor is totally part of the experience.👍 I do have an EV car myself that can take me 350-360 miles on a full charge. We also have a lot of easily accessible charging stations on the West Coast of the US. So I can stop take a breath at a beautiful view or grab a bite to eat charge and I am off again. I like it for the quiet smooth ride as well and they have come a long way. I like having the option to own an EV but also don't believe in pushing it on others if not interested. ❤ Thanks again for another adventure of beautiful Scotland and looking forward to your next episode. Stay safe out there! -Cheers from Seattle!
That's a surprisingly good range Ann and yes, my only real issue with EV's is they're being rammed down our necks.
As an old Yankee .... with a few brews in my belly .... watching you drive your motorcycle on the "left" side of the road over hills .... makes parts of me cringe !
But it's all OK.
:)
sbf
I am with you on the kafir. Shocking when you buy a cherry one on the cheap shelf. Tesco owe you some sponsorship.
I see we share the same brand of kefir Kevin and I swear by it for keeping my digestive system healthy.Hope the weather holds for the rest of the adventure.
Yes lots of good bacteria cultures 🙂
Another gorgeous video!
Would love to see the sunset and the starry night sky at these campsites. Must be incredible!
