  • Join me as I take a look at what's in my food cupboards and from the limited ingredients available, produce something resembling food.
In this video, I take pork belly, chilies ,garlic, mushrooms, onions, caramelized sweet onion chutney, rice and an egg, and create my own version of Sweet Chili Pork, with Egg Fried Rice.

I have to admit that when I first saw the listing for the Travels by Narrowboat show I couldn't believe people would watch it 😀, but I've found it both relaxing and interesting. Much better than a lot of the garbage on TV and social media!

You’re such a good sport, Kevin. You spend a lot of time and effort producing your wonderful videos for people to enjoy (and the vast majority do - including moi) and despite a small contingent of whinging deplorables (what’s their beef anyways?) leaving nonsensical comments you press on in good humor for the sake of your many adoring (yes, adoring) fans. Thank you! You’re appreciated. Your calming manner and understated humor have provided us many hours of respite during this very strange time. We’re getting slammed in America from every direction and your videos have been a much needed balm.

This recipe has become an absolute favorite in my family! My sister and her husband request it every time they come to town. I can't begin to tell you how many times I've made it, but I'm making again this evening. i know this is 2 years old. I enjoy your adventurous spirit.and the calming beat of Aslan's engine. I just turned 75 and enjoy learning something new each day. I just learned that you are supposed to heat a stainless steel pan before putting your oil or fat into the pan. Bring your oil up to temp and then put your ingredients in. This is supposed to help with clean up. You look like you have been using your pan for years. Oh well. keep cooking even if the lock down year has passed.

    Hi Kevin,
I enjoy your methodological way of going about things, including cooking in your galley, and I find I feel the satisfaction and contentment that you appear to feel, when you have completed preparation of one of your meals.
I wouldn’t even read any negative posts. Some people are filled with discontent to unhealthy levels and enjoy blasting others with some of the very many negative thoughts that their pent up unhappiness causes to continuously swirl through their minds. It has nothing to do with the objects of their vile criticism and contempt, so just let it go by, and be glad you are not in their heads or their lives.

One thing about that unmentionable thing sweeping through the world - it brought the CHG cooking "show" back to UA-cam. Of course, we pray for everyone's well being, and in the mean time reflect on this era of uncertainty. A little humor never hurts, but can be quite therapeutic, like sleeping, indeed. Since people are interested in CHG's cupboards, maybe its time to take advantage of the situation and start some Amazon affiliate links like CHG Organic Aduki Beans, CHG Madras Spice Paste etc. Shipping CHG Pork Belly may be problematic in the U.S as we have certain regulations. Great Show.

Hi Kevin, I have watched this and most of your videos several times. They have helped me through this bizarre year. You are my therapist 🥰 thank you

Only too happy to be of help Penney. Yes, it's the weirdest and most senseless period I've ever encountered in my 52 years.

I wonder if the people making derogatory comments are having a: a heavily processed or b: local takeaway dinner this evening? I think it is good to show just how much you can do in a very small space with basic equipment. Back when I was a foster mother I could have anything up to 6 kids on the boat, shopping was always fun as we bought what we could as we traveled (farm shops where possible) so I never really planned meals in advance but we had fresh food cooked well. I think your cooking is great, imagination is not a bad thing ;)

Awesome Karen and I concur. Traveling around the network, I cooked what was available from the little village shops. A visit to a rare supermarket, was like visiting wonderland. 😁

Thank you - I find watching you so relaxing - FYI we always keep a bag of frozen peas that we add to our fried rice, adds color and we love peas...Take care

What a fantastic meal.... It is what you have on hand, economical, two pans (easy clean up), and now I'm on the hunt for sweet onion chutney! Thank you so much!!!

There are people out there that are just plain negative and they want everyone else like them. Chin up, keep smiling, stay positive in this crazy world(sometimes it is hard) keep on cooking and cruising.

Outstanding, Kevin! As for the naysayers... well. They don't like anything because they don't like themselves. They think other people care what they think; and they're wrong.

I think we have all had some degree of anxiety over this period, I certainly had a few days early on. You seem happier now which is good. The angry people will still make their comments hidden in internet anonymity, they are most probably sad and lonely but it does not excuse their behaviour. Keep smiling and look forward to dry roads and clear canals. Nev

Wow, that looks amazing.Amazing what can be made for little outlay. If there is one thing I do love is chicken with sweet chilli sauce. So yummy. You have so many talents that people's negative comments are out of pure (green eyed monster) syndrome. I find you a fountain of knowledge.
