Nice set-up, Thanks for the video. I have always kept aluminum 1232 jon boats. They are the smallest and lightest jon boats that will safely float two people and a bit of gear. I have been in several 1032 boats, and they are only safe for one, and 'maybe' a small child or a medium sized dog.
My latest 1232 is by AlumaCraft. I bought it new in about 2013. I use it as a truck transported, hand launched sport boat for small rivers, creeks, sloughs, ponds and backwater. I basically fish, frog, float rivers and just generally enjoy it. It is almost a sporting canoe for 2, but more stable and comfortable with a set of nice, Millenium swivel seats, and with a little more space. A $120, 30 pound thrust trolling motor pushes it just fine, and the battery will last all day. I just bought a new 6 HP Suzuki outboard for it, and am looking forward to trying some "bigger" water, but will still stay out of any place I'm likely to see really big boats and/or wind and waves. I have a 16.5 foot deep vee with a 50 HP Merc for those places.
They recently stopped making these small aluminum boats, and all you can get are plastic ones. I wouldn't trade my aluminum boat for 2 plastic ones.

Sounds like you get a lot of enjoyment out of your setups. It’s sad to see the small jon boats not being manufactured, Bass Pro Shops told me they weren’t cost efficient to build because of materials. I would gladly pay more for aluminum boats over plastic, they last decades over plastic. Hoping to get back out on mine, work has me too busy in the Summer . Thanks for sharing and watching 👍

Bass Pro has them again and they did away with rivets (welds only)... I picked one up today, but it was $1400 for the 1236.... crazy prices,@@subcoolboats75

It’s a light boat and easy to power, transom is short. I have a video on raising it. Have fun!

I love your video, I have a 1232 Jon Boat with a 6.5hp Chinese outboard motor I just paid $800 for it gets no where near the speed you are reaching, I’m about to research the motor you have..

What kind of speeds are you getting out of the 6.5hp?

Will my boat plane out better with a transum extension

A 12x32 jon boat would work for one average size person, or a couple of smaller people in places having calm water.
But especially in places with lots of Gators, standing up isnt a very good idea.

How does yours do with 2 people? I’m looking at a 1232 model myself

You probably want to get at least a 1236 for 2 people. The 1232 is narrow but for single fishing it’s good enough.

My 1232 was a great deal too , hard to pass up. You won’t regret going wider though

Just bought a 12 foot Lowe from my neighbor for 250 bucks. Fits great in the back of my older tacoma. Still trying to get my 3 hp Johnson fixed. Yours was clicking along pretty good with that mercury. Thanks for sharing

@@kpocala1061 That’s a good find, easy boats to transport and easy on the wallet to operate. Have fun!
