      Sadly, that's not true. At least not in the case Larry is using it. Somebody can appreciate someone's work and art without necessarily treating the individual with much respect. I wish they would, but it isn't a necessity.

      My dad is a fan of Linkin Park, yet he still thought people who takes their own lives are idiotic and selfish cowards, I guess he must be including Chester for that matter,
      and the sad thing is that he wants to stick to that opinion of his and doesn't care what others think about depressed people taking their own lives. I really wish he could understand the pain of those people, but he will most likely not, because he's quite stubborn when it comes to opinions and arguments.
      I also happen to be one of those who suffered a hard depression last year and I was really close taking my own life as well, but my dad kept lashing out on me by saying his own opinion instead of actually understanding me and just tell me right away that he was worried of me.

      @Adam Cederblad That's sad, when it comes to mental health issues people that never had it before just never made the experience how it feels like, so they have no idea what it is like. People often makes the same big mistake to relate everything in their life to themself, they only can imagine someone's other life from their own perspective of life. But yea that's not how it works, everyone is and feels different, some people just have a hard time to understand that.

    He had a beautiful wife who loved him, five children, was a millionare who was adored by many, and he STILL killed himself. If that doesn´t convince people that depression is real and a mental illness that some people just can´t escape from, I don´t know what will. RIP Chester.

      It is real. Depression is a very serious problem and just antidepressants do not fix the problem. It has a lot to do with your mood and dealing with everyday stuff. And you can look as normal as can be and inside you are a mess. I know this and it stinks that some feel like ending their life is the answer. It's not.

    Being able to take your own life is far from being a Coward... as someone with suicidal thoughts I can assure you that. The only reason I didn't do it is because it's scary... and I'm not brave enough to do it.
    I miss Chriss, Chester, Kurt... and many others... and I wish they were actual cowards coz that way they would still be here making great music.

      Nah man, neither living with pain nor dying from pain is brave/cowardly. I hope some day we stop labeling some brave and the others cowardly and start empathic help to who need it. Pain isn't beautiful, pain doesn't "make you stronger" like some say. Pain is there to remind you that something is wrong and needs help to be fixed. Not to punish yourself by trying to deal with it, to "overcome" it so you become supposedly stronger, not to stop your own breath. I've been battling with mental problems for two decades, tried suicide and glad it didn't work, still am working on it. What I've learned until now is, there is no right way to deal with emotional pain because you are not supposed to deal with it by yourself in the first place. You need to get help.

    • @BarryChapman
      @BarryChapman 4 роки тому +8

      Larry King has always been a to-the-point interviewer. He doesn't dodge topics or skirt them - he comes out and asks you. Which is sometimes the absolute BEST way to get someones true feeling on a matter. By skirting a topic, you give the interviewee time to prepare for the loaded question that is coming. By using Larry's approach, you prevent this and get the raw, unfiltered feedback in the moment.
      This is one of the reasons Larry has been such a powerful and successful interviewer.

    • @Ariel_thenotsolittlemermaid
      @Ariel_thenotsolittlemermaid 3 роки тому +1

      Yes. It is always insensitive (and, according to mental health experts, something we shouldn't do) to ask why someone died by suicide; but to do that instantly after Corey said they were good friends is even worse. Someone in the replies here told you he always does that and it brings a raw response, but imo being respectful to both the person interviewed and the subject matter is way more important.

Not long after, I was diagnosed with severe depression. I walk those shoes to this day. I've attempted suicide without even thinking. If you don't battle it, you can't understand it. Pure and simple. MikeRetrotech90 you must be blind because Linkin Park’s social media has a vast majority of support. Also Chester’s wife and Mike wife are now mental illness activists educating people about it. I’m right you just dont want to admit it.

    • @LaceFX
      @LaceFX 6 років тому

      Also let’s look at the bigger picture. What Larry said was unprofessional and ignorant. That was my point period. This isn’t about you and I disagreeing, it’s about being able to classify victims of suicide as mentally ill and not cowards. Period.

    • @Ariel_thenotsolittlemermaid
      @Ariel_thenotsolittlemermaid 3 роки тому

      Yes. Of course, there were people calling him a coward, but those were a small minority.
      I guess that when you are looking for something, you're gonna find it everywhere. Larry King (or, rather, whoever wrote his questions; I doubt he went on fan forums to do research himself) wanted something sensationalist to say, something controversial to ask Corey about, so they convinced themselves it's true.

    I have to say , first , Chester was An amazing talented person ! Amazing vocalist, good Aura . Never met the man , but through his passion of music and to relay his emotions... we were in a sense best friends . The word coward “ was wrong in this interview. How do you put a label or judge someone who has terminal cancer without having no control ?!... same as depression, it’s a mental cancer that eats your thoughts ! Unless you’re a person who’s dealing with this . You’ll never know anguish . I myself see , fame , money , talent , Beautiful wife , children !.. but it goes to learn that unfortunately there’s more to this life that we are given . The challenges of living life becomes a game . You lose and you win .

      EximiusDux No, no one's to blame. No one's a coward. Everyone has their own way of dealing with depression and the constant suicidal thoughts. Some deal with it by themselves and hide their pain from everyone else even though they are surrounded by loved ones who would be more than willing to help them. It's a battle within yourself, it's not so simple. It's down to the person to seek help but at the same time when you're in that position, in that frame of mind, you don't think anyone or anything will help.

      You have your good childhood memories and you remember them every day. So you cannot know what it feels to remember painful memories every day and try to erase them. You and all other accusers don't have any idea for the pain, anger and disgrace Bennington felt.
      So, I repeat - blame the guilty ones not the victim. He tried to live, he has created family, not once but twice... And finally it didn't help. Nor fame/money, neither beautiful wife and children helped.
      He didn't move on, he said in an interview he still feels like a young boy. When something so brutal happens to a child, he/she got stuck in that moment forever.

    I don’t know how anyone can call people who are suicidal “cowardly” or “selfish”. That’s just pure ignorance to what mental illness is; they have no idea the amount of pain a person has to be in to get to that point. And they’re obviously not in their right mind. Contrary to popular belief, suicide is not a choice, it’s a symptom.

    I personally think his SSRIs and his other meds jacked him up. He was on a cocktail or prescriptions, that the autopsy mostly ignored. Police report listed them near his nightstand.
    He got 5 hours of sleep a day on average. Very common side effect of SSRIs. We need to stop acting like the cause of depression is the "stigma" or that meds will cure it. He went to doctors for it. Clearly it didn't work.
    He needed a holistic approach. Sunlight. Withdrawal from the meds.

    i'm not mad at him for killing himself, i think we all have the right to do what we want with our lives.
    i'm mad that he killed himself and he had kids, the moment you have kids you give up the right to suicide.
    no matter how terrible you think life is you ENDURE for your children.
    don't put your kids through the agony of finding out that daddy killed himself, don't make them grow up fatherless.

      No amount of antidepressants make you forget about being sexually abused as a child. Antidepressants are not a miracle drug.

    “Cowardly” isn’t the right word, but I’d say “selfish” is.
