Think there is a HUGE interest in more elite masters sessions....... There's a big target audience out there that would be super interested and very relatable....
Back when he was running 1:45, I was running 24 seconds behind that. Now, 40 years later, I'm still 24 sec behind (and hanging on for dear life). Great workout and interview. Mad jealous of the facility and awesome training partners!
M55 here. I don't think I could clear 2:40 for the 800 right now. Yikes! I echo the sentiments of some of the commenters below in that we'd love to see more masters coverage. I get that it wouldn't be a large proportion of your videos, but a few sprinkled throughout the year would be greatly appreciated. This was a fun watch. Thanks!
Great to see this. Always a challenge to know if what senior elites do is transferable to masters and other good standard runners. Interesting to note how close his 1:45.66 PB age 26 is on age graded (95.66%) to the 2:15.30 aged 65 (96.99%). So the recent run only just a little "better" on that scale.
Impressive training session, and congratulations to Paul for his record 2 13 at 67 years old, normally great runners retire young. Greetings from Costa Rica
Watching Paul here I am massively inspired. Thanks to all involved. I'm 62 and got it to 2.36 for 800 at my very best effort in the spring. On a load of different interval options and liking them but so far have no idea how I will find an extra 6 secs to reach PB goal of 2.30.Maybe the carbon plated spikes will help!
HNY @sweatelite ! What a great way to inspire us to kick off the year! Definitely requesting more Master’s athletes! These guys are great examples of how consistency leads to longevity and smart training can help us progress even after years in the sport. Kudos Sweat Elite!
Matt! Happy New Year pal! This was by far the mostly intriguing workout video on the channel, I didn't see this coming but I love that you had this set up!
Brilliant work. Thank you for including masters content. Shadow Project Track Club in DC would be a good masters group to check in on if you're ever in the area.
Great stuff! We have a couple of guys like this (not the same standard though) at my club and they're inspirational. As Matt says, I'd love to be doing this sort of thing when I'm in my mid 60s.
That was a truly impressive track session. I know from experience that those early intervals, under pace can cost you late in the workout. Great job throughout the session and thanks for bringing us this content.
Great to see these heroes grafting. Nice video too. Masters athletes from sprints, combined events through Middle D upto ultras are pushing the envelope and provide some seriously interesting and inspirational data athletically and biologically.
Though I am not in this age group, it is refreshing to see this. Thanks for sharing. Curious why most of session have temperature around 10-15C. Do most athletes not train at +20C?
Hi everyone. I interviewed Paul for a new podcast the other day called 'The Masters of Running Podcast.' You can find us on Facebook (@themastersofrunningpodcast) & Twitter (@mastersofru1). He's in episode 9 following his recent double World Championship gold in the 800m & 1500m. Lots of sessions/training info and much more. A bit disappointing. I viewed the video to see Paul running. He’s the world recorder holder for his age group, after all. But the video seemed to devote most attention to the much less interesting recovery & some uninteresting interviewing with the guy in a trac suit.
Thank you for filming this! That’s a serious session. There is DEFINITELY an audience for vids of interesting elite age groupers
agree!
This is great. Would love to see more Masters training.

This is easily one of my favorite sessions Sweat Elite has done.

Big respect to Paul and also big respect the guy hanging off the back!! 👏
To all of them!
Love that you've done a masters episode. Keep them coming!

Given this 64yr old inspiration for 2022,thanks
Love this! Really appreciated, from an old guy.
Now this is the content I signed up for. So cool!
Yes. Please more master's stuff. Relatable.
These guys are amazing! Great video. Love to see all different types of running and ages/people.
Watching Paul here I am massively inspired. Thanks to all involved.

I'm almost 59, and I started running when I was 10. Thanks for the inspiration.
Please make another video of his training sessions!!! So inspiring to us age-groupers.
What a king !
As an addition, Paul yesterday also broke the world indoor record for the M65 1 Mile in 5.04.02. Brilliant.

Love it and scottish accents just make everything seem so much more intense 😅 🏴
Loved this video, good to show that Elite means different things at different stages of your life, keep these coming !
Wow, much respect.
Thanks for such inspiring video. Paul is an amazing Master athlete, and super humble, absolutely approachable.
Absolutely insane!!!!
Thank You So Much For This Episode Matt.
Oh man...!! Age is really just a number.
Used to work with Colin at Nuffield Health. He's a fine runner himself.
Good to hear from you Alex! Hope you are well!
@@TheMarathonGuyTV all good here, thanks. Didn't know you had a channel. Subbed and will get watching. Stay well mate.
love it. oldie goldies!
Great session guys . I have to grind out my 300's solo .
I saw Paul Forbes running the 800 at the UK championships at Meadowbank back in 1978. He finished third behind Sebastian Coe, who won it.
Awesome stuff as a 48 yr old runner trying to get faster this really inspires me - happy to see more master videos! 💪💪💪
Watching his 300M sprints makes me think his 1 mile time is probably around 4:55 To run that at 65 years old is incredible.
Matt! Happy New Year pal! This was by far the mostly intriguing workout video on the channel, I didn't see this coming but I love that you had this set up!
what a legend
Bravo à tous ces coureur Master +++. Respect d'avoir encore cette forme athlétique à cet âge.
Brilliant work. Thank you for including masters content. Shadow Project Track Club in DC would be a good masters group to check in on if you're ever in the area.
That was fun to watch
So impressive, thanks for inspiring episode.

Love this, I'm going to start drinking iron brew
Hope to see you at a masters 800 !
Age is nothing but a number!
Loving that stick-figure singlet. Might buy (or make) one for myself.
Wow this is impressive
Great footage
Great video! Have y’all ever thought of filming youth athlete sessions? That would be super interesting, as I’m 13.
I hope I am able to run that fast when Im 65
didnt bilieve his age till I see his pants, thats really old school haha Cheers for the world record sir!
Interesting master athletic videos should be given specially master marathoners champions
Though I am not in this age group, it is refreshing to see this. Thanks for sharing.

Matt is currently in the UK where its typically 6-14°c during December.
@@sweatelite that's cold
@@Whiteroca 12degC approx this morning. T-shirt and shorts easy run weather for UK!
Incredeble 👋👋👋🔥💪

Great video but it feels like the shutter speed is too high. Love it thought
That Paul is always in a hurry haha great athlete
who was the bird flying around the track in the back-ground? - that was a serious pace she was keeping up....
How old is he? Thats pretty impressive 800m time
65
World records are, by definition, impressive.

Am I right in thinking the female athlete problems are continuing…??
