The saving Rogue scene was cut from the theatrical version because it didn't serve the main storyline and was an unnecessary detour. Turned out fine without it. They originally put it in there because they wanted to give Professor X and Magneto something to do other than just watching Wolverine laying on that table while his mind goes back in time.
"Was Oppenheimer a true story?" 😂😂 Oh man! You really got me with that!🤣 Of course it's real! Part of history itself. Basically, the Hiroshima bombing and atomic/nuclear weaponry wouldn't be a thing without him.

@@tinkinc85then your nephew's really don't need to be voting in national elections. If somebody doesn't know basic history about world War they have no right voting.
Looking back now this could be considered the X-Men's Infinity War, the heroes trying to defeat an unstoppable enemy and the heroes sadly getting taken out in brutal ways, so glad you liked this one, it's so good and About Mystique, that would be a yes but only if it's Rebecca Romjin's Mystique, she was a better Mystique without question.
What I like about Mystique's transformations in this movie is you can tell she's still a novice as far as her espionage and spy skills. Although she can look like anybody, she's still working on ACTING like somebody else. Especially with the soldier disguise in her first appearance and when she was disguised as Trask at his office, there are small tells that make it more obvious the person is Mystique. In the soldier's case, it's a little hard to put to words but between the soft way he speaks and the slightly unsure way he walks in the facility at first, it definitely gave off a vibe that he wasn't really who he seems. And with Trask, Mystique offers the secretary a spontaneous and very sincere compliment on her scarf, which judging by the Secretary's reaction, isn't something Trask would typically do.
That's a good observation. I'll admit that I didn't notice it when I first saw the movie, but I see it now. When we get to the Deadpool movies, somebody remind me to comment on the similarities and differences between Mystique and Copycat (e.g., Copycat is arguably more powerful, but Mystique is more experienced).
You finally made it to my favorite X-Movie! Everything about this was soooo nicely done to tie the movies together and fix some of the decisions made the X3 that limited them storywise.
@@BluEx22329 I didn't like it much when I first watched it, Logan is not one of my favourite characters, but sometime later I watched someone's reaction to it, and I really enjoyed the movie
This is absolute top tier comic book movie making right here. The peak of the XMen. This movie hit every single damn checkbox it needed to. And it did it perfeclty. It was a really good story, with believable stakes you feel. Kept you really not knowing what was going to happen. Has some brilliant moments where Logan gets to give advice to Charles, the two Chaz's talking. It's just so damn good.
Easily my favorite of all the X-Men movies. Michael Fassbender's Magneto is amazing, and his arc gets even better in Apocalypse. As much of a bad guy as he is, you also really feel for him very often, especially in Apocalypse. Such a great character and he was played perfectly.
I will never forget seeing this in theaters. X2 was one of my favorites growing up, I’ve seen that movie so many times and still find new ways to appreciate it. So when I sat down for this and heard *THE* X2 theme, I was geeking out so hard. That’s when I knew I’d love this movie.
I'm so glad you checked out the rogue cut. Mannn I remember in 2015 I saw the trailer for this cut and I was SOOOOOO hyped. Some scenes are the same but for the most part this is a completely different movie because the context has changed so much. @@RLucas3000 Not that I remember, no. They might have said the name "Irene Adler" at _some_ point in one of the movies as a very surface level Easter Egg but the character has never been introduced. I mean they have Wolverine, Beast, and Azazel and never mentioned any connection between any of them other than Beast, _and_ Nightcrawler has interacted with both Azazel and Mystique (IIRC) with no allusion to "hey Mom, hey Dad" -- so likely a "too many cooks in the kitchen" situation.
So glad you watched the Rogue Cut. Rogue, her rescue, and the aftermath weren't the only things cut from the theatrical. This version also extends several scenes/conversations and has more additional scenes like the debate among the future mutants about changing the past, wolverine meeting Quicksilver's little sister, Beast and Mystique's interaction at the mansion, Mystique destroying the Cerebro helmet, Charles' interaction with a disabled veteran at the White House. and even the credit scene. They really help flesh things out and give other scenes better context that was missing from the theatrical version. I can't watch the theatrical version anymore without getting frustrated by the holes this version filled.

16:35 a little trivia for ya... Charles and Eric were both created in the resemblance of Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X. While they both want equality for their kind Charles takes the civil approach (MLK) while Eric takes the more aggressive approach (X).
This movie is based in one of the most fantastic story lines from X-men even created, those comics were the inspiration for David Cameron create Terminator , Chris Clamount was a genius writer ( he also created the Phoenix Saga )
This movie got me thinking about mystiques power, since she can alter her appearance to anybody that means she has total control over her muscles, she can make them as stretchy or dense as possible, so she technically has super human strength and flexibility along with the obvious powers to be anybody down to their DNA. Which also means she can make herself the undisputed fastest person in the world, if we discount other mutant powers. The comic books might say something else about this but it seems like she has a seriously OP power.
She's able to mimic powers, but never as strong as they really are. For example, she once copied Wolverine's powers, claws and all, but she wasn't able to turn her claws to adamantiun; they weren't as strong, and couldn't cut anything as his can. She's also mimicked her son, Nightcawler, before, but didn't gain his ability to teleport through doing so. The closest thing she's ever done to what you suggest is turning herself into a dog. However, this caused her immense stress and was a form she could only hold for a few minutes
X-Men powers are the best and if I could choose what powers to have, I'd go for either Jean's telepathy/telekinesis combo (the Phoenix Force would be an added bonus) or Storm's weather manipulation to adjust the days to my mood.
this has to be one of my all time favorite movies, the plot, the acting, the pacing it just hits me all in the feels. Especially the meeting between young erik and charles again, the argument too. Truly such good actors while also with sone humor mixed in with Quicksilver and Logan’s lines
Dunno if you realized it, but the dude that was tazed in the neck and gave wolverine a "panic attack" 17:40 was actually William Stryker, the dude who will give him the adamantium claws in the future
I may be one of the few that watches the full length on Patreon, and comes back to watch the UA-cam edits. The editor has as much of a personality as Alex does and I love to see both versions.
As Cliche as it is, Jean Grey. She has immense telepathic and telekinetic powers. Ability to mentally control anyone, read minds, wipe minds, control matter at a molecular level. Near infinite power and potential. Not even counting throwing the Phoenix Force into the mix, she is basically a god without it already.
This movie is a variation from the comics: The Uncanny X-Men issues #141-142, published in 1981. Written by writer/artist team of Chris Claremont, John Byrne and Terry Austin. Chris Claremont is an exceptional writing talent for Marvel comics. He is also a HUGE reason behind what made the X-Men so popular. Look up what he did for Marvel and you will be blown away.
Peter Dinklage has been in a bunch of films and tv shows, earliest one I remember him in was Elf (“call me elf one more time, I dare you!”) and he actually starred with James McAvoy (young Prof. X) in Penelope in late 2000s/early 2010s. Needless to say, this is far from his first film, and as always, he has a spectacular performance. Love your reactions, Alex, keep up the awesome work!!
So, fun fact, I guess. Peter Dinklage is actually the second actor to interpret Trask in the live action X-Men movies. He actually shows up in X3, interpreted by Bill Duke
Bill Duke was the modern Trask from 2006 They didnt mention his first name other than calling him Secretary Trask. You can probably see it as Secretary Trask being a distant relative of Bolivar fron 1970s

Or the 90s cartoon, or any (probably) of the games including the Capcom brawlers. So anyone who knows X-Men from things _other_ than just the 2000's movies.
Well... That's you. The 90s cartoon was and remains hugely popular and is essentially the main reason many 90s kids knew the X-Men at before the 2000 movie, and the various games were also hugely popular among anyone who had ever been to an arcade. Even my mom, who collected X-Men comics was aware of all of that stuff because they were EVERYWHERE.

I would want Darwin's powers. You probably don't remember him because they wrongfully killed him in XM First Class. He could adapt to whatever was happening to him, whether it was growing gills underwater or teleporting away from danger, he could basically do anything. The only downside was that it was somewhat randomly generated. He would sometimes get something good and sometimes get something really bad. If he could just harness his power he could do anything due to the extent of his gene's adaptation.

I almost collapsed when he asked if Oppenheimer was a true story. Holy shit dude…
The continuity of this video being titled the same way as First Class, and then going back to it we see it striked off is immaculate.
Anyone else find it hysterical that Alex had the reaction to Evan Peters as Quicksilver in reverse? Most of us had that exact same reaction in WandaVision, not the other way around 😂
Yeah. It was quite a thing to watch Alex’s reaction to Evan Peters playing the Fox X-men’s Pietro/Peter as well as the doppelgänger Pietro in Wandavision.
It was a mix of surprise/confusion/elation.
kitty reaction to Rogue telling her Bobby didn’t make it was so heartbreaking all she wanted was for her boyfriend to make it back safe especially knowing he went out for her to get help he went out like a hero sacrificed himself and his safety for his ex and for the woman he loved

There were quite a lot of plot holes with the regular though, Rogue cut solved them

I actually had to pause and have a moment of silence, I couldn't believe what I had heard😞
You did not just ask if Oppenheimer was a true story
🤯🫢🙄🤔🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

@@BluEx22329 Not sure that counts, though
Agreed, Apocalypse isn't one of my favs but Magneto in it is incredible.
I was bummed that Apocalypse himself didn't look much like the comic character, but I do quite enjoy the movie overall
"Was Oppenheimer a true story?"
I will never forget seeing this in theaters. X2 was one of my favorites growing up, I’ve seen that movie so many times and still find new ways to appreciate it. So when I sat down for this and heard *THE* X2 theme, I was geeking out so hard. That’s when I knew I’d love this movie.
I love how this film frequently has the past and future parallel each other, and the way it cuts back and forth to show it is awesome.
This was also a time where spoilers and leaks weren't so prevalent. The surprises were really surprises and you couldn't predict the twists and turns.
“Was Oppenheimer a true story?” really cracked me up lol. Loved the reaction, your content is always great!
I'm so glad you checked out the rogue cut. Mannn I remember in 2015 I saw the trailer for this cut and I was SOOOOOO hyped. Some scenes are the same but for the most part this is a completely different movie because the context has changed so much. It was so fun having already seen the original version and then watching this and seeing the differences play out. This was also around the time I was discovering that movies have extended cuts and directors cuts
Reminds me of Highlander 2. The Renegade version is the one best choice. It makes sense. The theatrical was a clusterf*ck.
What was different?
@@AndieO there's some extended cuts that sucks tho. Like for example the spider man 3 extended cut sucks. And the spider man no way home extended cut is meh. And both the theatrical and the extended cut to suicide squad just sucks

This is definitely my favorite of the team X-men films. It doesn’t get much better than The Wolverine and Logan though
Logan is hands down the best.. if you consider it an Xmen film that is.
The wolverine? Better than days of future past, first class and X2? Whatever floats your boat, I guess
The Wolverine was kinda bland. Logan slaps though
"was Oppenheimer a true story?" 🤣
Of course. All about the blue. That's kind of the whole point they're making with Mystique. Everybody wants her to be what they want her to be, not her true self.
And they’ve never even introduced Destiny in the movies have they?
@@RLucas3000 Not that I remember, no. They might have said the name "Irene Adler" at _some_ point in one of the movies as a very surface level Easter Egg but the character has never been introduced. I mean they have Wolverine, Beast, and Azazel and never mentioned any connection between any of them other than Beast, _and_ Nightcrawler has interacted with both Azazel and Mystique (IIRC) with no allusion to "hey Mom, hey Dad" -- so likely a "too many cooks in the kitchen" situation.
Yeah, I don’t see the problem with some blue cheeks 🤔
@@CuidightheachODuinn Azazel never met Kurt in the movies.
J. Robert Oppenheimer invented the atomic bomb. He's arguably the most important person who has ever lived or at least lived in the 20th century. That's what that movie is about. Good lord, Alex.

They definitely did Quicksilver far better in the x-men movies than in the MCU. He's the best part of the next movie too.
That scene in the prison with Quiksilver is my favorite scene of the entire franchise! (With a few very close runner ups but still! 😂)

The Comic-Con panel for this movie from that year was INSANE :D
16:35 a little trivia for ya... Charles and Eric were both created in the resemblance of Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X. While they both want equality for their kind Charles takes the civil approach (MLK) while Eric takes the more aggressive approach (X).
Remember that before you watch Logan: He lived EVERY STORY of all these movies at that point.
This movie is based in one of the most fantastic story lines from X-men even created, those comics were the inspiration for David Cameron create Terminator , Chris Clamount was a genius writer ( he also created the Phoenix Saga )
Why did I enjoy hearing Alex nearly destroy everything on his desk?🤣
He didn't just say: was Oppenheimer a real story?
Unfortunately he did yes
"He just got 'bub'd" is one of my favorite things.
This is, easily, the best X-Men movie. It’s so epic, across time. The best Quicksilver sequence.
Mystique chokes me wit her foot against the wall and im BOUT IT BOUT IT!!😂👿
The teaser trailer for this movie alone got me so hyped. And it lived up to it.
This and "First Class" are my favorite X-Men movies so far. Great to watch one after the other! ("First Class" first, then "Future Past").
X-Men powers are the best and if I could choose what powers to have, I'd go for either Jean's telepathy/telekinesis combo (the Phoenix Force would be an added bonus) or Storm's weather manipulation to adjust the days to my mood.
I hope you don’t pick the second option because you’d create catastrophe’s changing Mother Nature.

Dunno if you realized it, but the dude that was tazed in the neck and gave wolverine a "panic attack" 17:40 was actually William Stryker, the dude who will give him the adamantium claws in the future
It's funny when he repeats "whiplash". He wasn't being condescending, he genuinely thought he'd said it too fast and slowed himself down.

The quicksilver power demonstration (AKA “If I could save time in a bottle) is a cinematic masterpiece.

Peter Dinklage's first more major role in a movie was 12 years before this, in 13 Moons, with Steve Buscemi.
Yeah, and a lot of people forget he was in Elf.
Before that he was an angry elf 😌
I was surprised to learn that the plot for "Days of Future Past" actually came from Byrne, not Claremont (according to Wikipedia).
Not sure what happened in the timelines to make THAT glaring of a change in basically every possible way lol.
Bill Duke was the modern Trask from 2006
They didnt mention his first name other than calling him Secretary Trask. You can probably see it as Secretary Trask being a distant relative of Bolivar fron 1970s
Evan Peters was also a regular cast member in most of the American Horror Story series
Fox's Quicksilver is a much better comic relief than the MCU's Spiderman
And more subtle too
As someone who has dabbled in LSD once or twice, the acid line is surprisingly accurate lol
I’ve never seen the Rogue Cut of this movie so seeing just the bits of it through your reaction has me so confused 😅

Well...
