My favorite Toast deck was "Mecha'thun without Mecha'thun". The idea is that Mecha'thun is basically a dead card until you win with it, so hey, just leave it out of your Mecha'thun deck and replace it with a more useful card! Once you get down to your last card, the opponent assumes it's Mecha'thun and concedes. He actually got the bluff to work several times.
There was an MtG player who did something very similar to that, sideboarding out the combo win from a deck because he knew his opponents would probably scoop before he would need to play the combo. If I remember correctly, the deck played a card which would occasionally exile the wincon, but that player would continue playing when that happened, knowing the bluff might end up winning regardless. Unfortunately, I believe said player also cheated some of his wins, but that bluff was still excellent.
@@MogFlintlock There's a LSV story about him finding that he forgot to put a tendrils in his sideboard an just had to trust his opponents would concede when he had high enough storm and cast burning wish.
It's even more impressive, cuz that mechathun was from that legendary that adds 5 legendary minions to your deck. The oponent didn't even run it on his deck
Cant believe you left out Toast brining Sacrificial Pact to a tournament to kill his opponents hero as Jarraxus, and then forgetting to wake up the next day for the final.
The Mecha-thun play might be the highest recorded variance in HS history. You'd be hard pressed to find somebody who got a) Mechathun from Prince Malchezar, b) Mindgames with allowable board space said Mechathun, c) Myra's before Cataclysm, and d) Cataclysm.
it's up there with the mario64 bitflip upwarp in all time 'that's not supposed to happen' videogame moments. Hell, game moments in general. I don't remember the exact math, but i've seen provable claims it's about as likely as just drawing three royal flushes back to back in stud poker. The chance is so abysmally low it made my statistician roomate take out a calculator when he first saw the clip back in the day.
Disguised toast was the one hearthstone UA-cam i regularly watched. Not only was his gameplay fantastic but he's just a super entertaining guy to watch. Shame that blizzard treated him so terribly but super glad he's still finding success playing other games
Someone on the Hearthstone subreddit actually did the math on the odds of that Mecha'thun play and it was something like 14 in a billion. One of the most insane moments in the game for me.
The reason he actually showed his face is because he accidentally showed it like Rarran said but after a viewer try to blackmail and "leak" his face reveal, also I believe calling him ugly (?) and so he just said screw it and revealed it himself. To be fair I think he was already starting to pop off at the time. His lore videos and interaction videos were very high quality for the time. And his gameplay videos start to lean into fun rng/combos and clipable moments. Personally I do miss early toast but less so late toast. I get at times he was playing a high ego character but he started doing it too often and it became really insufferable
That's fucked up, Toast is a handsome man imo. Edit: The viewer calling him ugly. Your opinion of early v. late Toast is your opinion and I ain't judging that.
Toast removed the mask because someone was threatening to out him online so he did a face reveal stream. It was a big event it was fun to see live. Classic Kripp and toast were the best
I think the most crazy part is how much more successful he is when he transition to a different game. Most content creators would destroy their channels if they did that.
I know logically its for the best that he moved on to different things and does stuff he enjoys more now. But its hard to not miss Toast. Its just sad around the end he was only playing hearthstone because he was good at it and popular rather than for enjoyment.
Two notable clips not featured, voodoo doctor in quest mage to counter eye for an eye, and holy wrath his own face because "the bullet is in the other chamber"
Toast on a personal mission to find all the jank interactions (like the Shadowreaper Anduin one early on) was one of my favorite things about him when he was doing HS.
Crazy thing is when he came back for like just a few days, or maybe even a stream, forgot how long, he reached legend even after years of being hiatus..
My favorite Toast moment is when he couldn't win the game so he said he was going to use his mind powers to make the opponent concede. He then just starts making Super Saiyan 3 powerup sounds until the opponent (who it turns out was sniping) concedes.
You know whats the most common part of all the amazing clips? Having 10 mana. Make the game slower, make the cards shit, reduce draw and discovery, make the game boring to the zoomers then I return to playing.
How in the world does the moment he made a whole stream setup just to recite the entire "My Deck Has No Pathetic Cards, Kaiba" bit for his exodia deck NOT MAKE THE CUT for one of the most viewed moments?!
can someone explain what happened at 1:16 ? not understanding how Chameleos would retain Swift Messenger stats while rotating to Shadowreaper Anduin, some bug they fixed ?
If I recall, when Chameleos swapped to a different card type, it retained the previous card's stats - since it went from a minion with an attack value to a hero with technically no inherent attack value, the minion's attack stat just... wrote itself in. Ultimately harmless, except that one particular case.
Actually, Toast stopped wearing his mask, because it was basically his decision to do so. Some viewer saw him without a mask once on a stream (by accident he leaked it) and then started blackmailing Toast, asking for money or whatever, but Toast just decided to go through with it, and there we have him now as is
the mecha'thun was obviously insane but i like to imagine that there's a set of people to whom the same thing happened, but without mechathun. ie play yogg, and get your board hand and deck destroyed with no compensation.
I'm surprised we didn't get to see when Toast had two Holy Wraths, and chose to aim one at his face then one at the enemy. Where he rolled a 50/50 of losing or winning the game
No, someone threatened to black mail toast because he accidentally showed his face while turning his head cam away to take off his mask for wearing it for too long. So, his hand was forced to remove the mask for everyone to see.
"Random ass bugs" 2:48 So fun fact about MTG, this can totally happen within the game rules. I don't know if Hearthstone is supposed to function similarly, but in MTG, stack triggers will continue to trigger well past a game winning state. That's why infinite combos need to have a kill switch, because otherwise if it doesn't have anything to end the combo, the game is a draw.
I dueled a friend 1 time total in our history of hearthstone and I got double innervate into barnes -> ysaarj with the opening draw lol, had that happen a few times in ranked, but to have it happen on our first duel was hilarious.

In terms of toast not hiding his face I think he said he accidentally showed it and people started blackmailing him so he did a face reveal and popped off afterwards. It’s in the offline tv introduction
The fact that that Yogg would have been the worst Yogg possible (If you don't count it directly killing him). Leaving him with no deck, no hand and no board. It's ONLY because it pulls the ONLY minion in the game that wins him the game

The Mecha’Thun wasn’t even ran, it was off of Prince Malchezaar. Easily the best Hearthstone moment ever and won’t be beaten.
That's some infinite monkeys with typewriters level of improbability. I don't think I could even be mad if I were the opponent.
@@BradGreer someone calculated it and probability was like 1/10¹¹ or something
The produced video toast makes about that play is incredible

WOW, how did I never see that clip before? That's insane! That might be more insane than Kripp's unstable portal tavern brawl game

easily the most Toast thing that could have happened
