"If you dance, it's because you're an artist and you love it." THANK YOU for saying this! Wonderful as always. It's American Thanksgiving this week and I'm thankful for you! xo
I remember my ballet teacher told me to put the feet in warm water with an spetial blue soap called LAS LLAVES and make the movements of the arch with my hands and it was really helpfull...
I have from a small child, always been in love with Ballet, due to traumas it has taken until age 53 to begin to teach myself (all researched) safely to dance, I am so excited 😁😁😁, looking after my younger self
I started doing yoga and realize mi feet arches were so tense y wasn't able to sit on them, which for practicing yoga is a big issue. So, I decided to practice my flexibility with this video EVERY DAY. I love to repeat along with Alessia the "If you dance, it's because you're an artist and you love it" and all the "gillies?" moments lol. Now I am able to sit in my arches but even stay in that position longer than my sister (who made fun of me at the beginning for my lack of flexibility).
I'm revisiting these exercises after doing ballet for a year, and I find them more helpful NOW that I have more knowledge about what I'm actually trying to achieve 👍
As someone with clubfoot (right side only), having a smaller foot and less flexibility and strength in that leg, I’ve always told myself I couldn’t dance. Now I’m going to learn pole and ballet and do all I can to prove to myself that I can in fact do what I want, and won’t let my birth defect stop me. I think this video will be of great help, can’t wait to try out these exercises. Thank you!
Hey Alessia! I love your videos! I've been working out with them for the past 2-3 weeks since I discovered them at the start of COVID-19/quarantine etc.. I'm a college student and I used to dance ballet about 8 years ago and really miss it. Your videos are exactly what I needed! You are so fun and easy to follow, and the workouts are challenging and good! I'd love it if you could put together some playlists from your videos that I could follow along as a workout- for example, they might each start with a stretch or warm-up video, followed by a couple workout videos you'd recommend doing together (maybe a certain leg workout might go well with a certain back workout, etc), and end with another stretch video to cool off and prevent sore muscles, etc. I've tried preparing a few of my own, but would love recommendations from you! Thank you again! Hope you are doing well! :)
Hey lazy dancer, I am no ballerina, but a friend recommended these exercises because I have flat feet. My first day today. Very achy and inflexible but will keep on going. Thank you.
I m suffering from big toe pain since last many years but after watching your program i.e toe yoga exercises and after following the exercise, I m feeling much better relief in my big toe pain. Heartiest thanks to U for giving us such a wonderful toe pain exercises..Once again Thank U very much.
I stumbled upon your channel when I was looking for some exercises to improve my high arch left foot. Feet are too often neglected in a lot of workouts. I am an intermediate-advanced yogi, but my all-time secret passion is ballet. Your videos are beautiful, funny, classy, and amazing. You make me believe that with consistent practice, I can move my body like a ballerina. Thank you so much, Alessia, for being so lovely, charming, and witty. Greetings from Barcelona.
I am so glad I found your channel! I'm a burlesque dancer and was recently diagnosed with plantar fasciitis in my left foot (due to wearing flat shoes too often, isn't that surprising!) I just subscribed and I look forward to learning and improving with your videos. Keep up the great work!
Ember i'm sure you are a wonderful dancer! Sorry to hear about your plantar fasciitis, it's not fun! Try these exercises too lazydancertips.com/workout/how-to-strengthen-you-ballet-feet-guided-exercises/ as well as using a little ball under your foot to relax the muscles ! All the best and lots of love Alessia :)
I'm just a bit out of a different fairy tale, but I love watching your video. In fact, I travel a lot, which is why your advice is valuable. I hit the red button for my new friend. Have a great day. Greetings from Ireland.
Ines you need to work on your turns first, after that fuettes will be a piece oof cake :) If you worry about them too much they will never happen, just go with the flow :) Love Alessia
Oh I'm so excited for this! I've been dancing for a while now and you've helped me so much! I've been trying different things for my arch and seeing this video excites me!
Hi Alessia, congratulations for your wonderful channel and videos. I have a question, Is there a risk of injuries for the knees performing these exercises? Thanks and keep up the good work ;)
I love your exercises because are so easy to understand, it's no the same to easy to do for me, but I'm keeping doing until I manage to do it perfect. Thank you very much!! A huge!!
Hi Alessia! Just a quick question, because I have a bit of tightness in my calves, would you be able to recommend any modifications to the exercise in pike position or some effective calf stretches? Thanks so much!!
Hi! Is there a way that you could provide alternative ways of achieving the same results without bending the knees so completely? The initial stretch you show in this video with the knees completely bent in order to stretch the feet in that position causes me knee pain. In my case, I also discovered that if I put weight on a knee or both knees on the floor, it causes damage (knee pain for several days). Do you have alternative foot stretch positions I could try to address the same areas of the feet that do not involve pressure or pulling on the knees?
Thank you for the video!! I love your channel!! I have a question....my left foot is considerably weaker and less arched than my right one...do you have any advice or exercises I could use? Greetings from Mexico!!
Try to work more on your left foor strenght. If you do sets of rises for example, always do an extra set on the weaker side. Love Alessia lazydancertips.com/workout/how-to-strengthen-you-ballet-feet-guided-exercises/ lazydancertips.com/workout/improve-feet-strength-for-ballet-and-dance/ lazydancertips.com/workout/feet-and-ankles-exercises-with-theraband/ lazydancertips.com/workout/this-is-how-i-strengthen-my-ballet-feet/
My technique teacher told me not to bother trying to improve my foot arch because my bones are now too hard and so any improvement would be really minimal. Anybody who's reading this, if you started to work on your feet aged 30+, did you get any noticeable improvement after doing foot stretches consistently? My teacher's comment really sabotaged my motivation ...
Oh dear! Don't let the opinion of one person let you down! You can improve, event if it's minimal you still want to give it a go! This can be your motivation to prove your teacher wrong! Come on you can! ps. I'm 33 and my body is constantly changing. Mould it the way you want it! We are still young, healthy and full of energy! Come on! Let's do it!
Now I have a question, what if some of us can't get all the way up on demi-pointe? We can only lift our heels a teeny bit off the floor. And also, I have a question too Alessia, when you are sitting on your feet and lifting upward, can you break your feet doing that? Also, I have bone spurs in my heels and achilles as well as in my knees with arthritis in my knees too.
Jayne it's always useful to do a quick warm up, even it's going up and down a set of stairs a couple of times, just to get the blood flowing :) Love Alessia
Hello Elvira! If you follow the instruction closely there is no chance of bulking up , we constantly stretch and we don't use any weights! Don't worry and keep on dancing! Love Alessia
thanks so much! i recently discovered your channel and i’m so happy i did. it would be super helpful if you could do a video on improving your calypso, because i’ve really been struggling with mine recently. thanks, love your channel!!
Hi Ms. Alessia! I've been trying to ask around about an issue I'm having on pointe. I started pointe work about 2 months ago now, and have since been getting bruises on the top/side of my toe nails. I wear ouch pouches + regularly clip them. I'm starting to think it may be bc I have tapered toes, and not tapered shoes? Any ideas? You have been so helpful to me during my ballet process! I started watching about a year and 1/2 ago & still am =D Thanks!
Hi Michaila, getting bruised toe nails is normal. We also need to try different types of pointe shoes that will fit best on our feet so they won't cause us so much pain. There are so many makes and shapes and I highly recommend to go to a dance store and have few different ones fitted. What brand and make are you wearing at the moment? Kissy Alessia
Thank you for the tips! Since I commented, I got fitted by another fitter, and went from Capezio Plie II (my old shoes) to Russian Pointe Rubin's. My bruises have started healing, and my new shoes feel like air! I think in another two months with the other shoes, I would have lost my toenails. Thanking God I found a pair that fits. Love your videos -- they've helped me so much.
This video would’ve been much better without the music in the background which is totally unnecessary. Can you please re upload this without the music?
Nope, it also means you are not engaging your quads nor your calves and your achilles are getting squashed. Be careful as pain can become more serious and cause bad injury! :)
The person in this video is flat footed and has what you call a flexible arch. Meaning that when you are standing, there is no arch present. But when you are sitting with no pressure on your feet or standing on your tip toes, you can see a slight arch. These exercises will only help your strengthen your arch, not develop one. There is no exercise that has proven to help you develop an arch in an otherwise flat foot.
Agust Satan it probably will! I haven't tried these yet, but when I went on pointe my flat feet disappeared. So I can imagine these improving flat feet quite a lot :)
"If you dance, it's because you're an artist and you love it." THANK YOU for saying this! Wonderful as always. It's American Thanksgiving this week and I'm thankful for you! xo

Same. I think many of us are here because we appreciate the art so much and we want to be a part of it. It's important to be reminded of this

how long did it take you for foot flexibility?
I'm revisiting these exercises after doing ballet for a year, and I find them more helpful NOW that I have more knowledge about what I'm actually trying to achieve 👍
I do these stretching exercises 4 times in a week and these 13 minutes go by without me even noticing it, love it

Hi Alessia! Just a quick question, because I have a bit of tightness in my calves, would you be able to recommend any modifications to the exercise in pike position or some effective calf stretches? Thanks so much!!
