7 out of 10 is about what I would give this game despite the fact that I actually enjoy a ton of it and have like 110 hours in it I just can't ignore the flaws regarding the general design decisions, the aging engine, and the technical issues
Same. I put it away without finishing it. First time ever for a Bethesda game and I have been a fan since Daggerfall. It's not that the game completely stinks. I put over 100 hours into it. It just got to the point where I couldn't overlook its obvious flaws. No real sense of exploration. Not much of "I wonder what comes next". There was some but it wore thin. Couldn't care less about the NPCs. The fun aspects (gun combat and ship building for me) wore off and I just couldn't justify sinking more time into it.
@@patwilson2546 yeah that's where I'm at. There's a few side quests I still wanted to do but overall the gameplay loop just wore on me I love building ships but you never really need anything you put in them. I don't get that sense of a mobile base that I hoped for. My comparison is like how the submarine in subnautica worked. You actually needed to outfit that thing and customize it if you wanted to use it that way, and you actually spend time in it. Ships in Starfield can be nearly bypassed completely with the fast travel system I am excited to see what mods will do for it but I'm about run my course I think with what I can do in it vanilla
i put 35 hours in but every time i boot it back up im confronted with a full inventory, a full ship inventory... and just turn it off. i wanted to love it so much and i love the IDEA of the game. but it just failed in execution. they should have set the game in a single star system and hand built content over like 4-5 planets and moons. the entire space aspect is just so pointless or when i wanted to build a base on a remote area of a moon and every random spot i land has the same 4 POIs and the same random ship landing. every time
Although I don't agree with letting Bethesda die, I must say that you're right. Skyrim was probably the last "original" (i guess we can call it like that) game they've made.
I just wanted a ship full of crew members working and living on it. What did I get instead? Despite building a 2x2 battle station, a work station, a med bay (to go with the doctor I hired) and in total 9 beds (not including the two in the med bay), where is my crew? All hanging out in the captain's quarters taking turns sleeping in his bed. This is such a poorly designed and written game that it's downright insulting.
@@solidsnake3962 In what other Bethesda game? Fallout 4, where you could assign settlers to tasks and specific beds? No. I didn't have the same complaint. You accept and defend mediocrity. That's who you became.
@@isthatyoursomnomnom you also don’t have a unhappy/happy meter for your ship. I was mainly talking about any other Bethesda game. Your not bringing in settlers to your ship. It’s just not a very good complaint for not liking the game. Also the fact that you upgraded enough to put that many followers on your ship and you got to that point and then realized you couldn’t assign people to certain beds is on you.
Starfield made me appreciate No Man’s Sky and Cyberpunk 2077. Two games that were buggy and lackluster at launch, but are now redeemed. Hopefully Starfield will get the same treatment.
Stop supporting failed launches on the basis they eventually might fix it. Lmao. Bethesda are absolutely trash and the fact it had to be delayed by Microsoft for 2 years shows how terrible it would have been at launch.
@@Immopimmo Exactly right. They aren't even talking about fixing the game, they are hyping a DLC you'll have to pay for. Which means they don't think these issues are problems. Exploration has always been a huge part of making the world feel real; it basically doesn't exist in Starfield b/c of no hyperspace, super-cruise, scanning surface as you fly over a planet, etc. Heck, NPCs are at their shops 24/7 like Chuck'e'Cheese robots. Regression from Skyrim, a 13 year old game.
@@ImmopimmoYou mentioned wasted NG+ potential. Have to throw in my idea of making it reincarnation. Because why would you 'unity' into a new universe with a fancy spaceship & suit. Is there a starborn factory line somewhere making them? Ok, back to reincarnation. You can optionally pick an 'alternate start' (like the skyrim mod) and create a new character that starts in a new location. Maybe bounty hunter starting w/ a ship. Perhaps a neon street rat, broke w/o weapon and having to steal or pickpocket your way into space, or join a gang and help them take over neon. As you gain levels, you 'remember' your perks, skills, and xp (+XP multiplier) from your past lives.
A unfinished buggy and glitchy game. Copypasted areas, same opponents, simple and boring gunplay, only projectile is of any use, melee awfull. Tons of loadscreens and terrible AI! Lifeless and boring planets and encounters! Poor UI and worse equipment handling. Dull story! All is meh 😮 4/10 with mods 6/10 Already old and outdated 😠
Idk... I love it. All my coworkers love it. Sometimes i feel like I played a different game than everyone else. What i want from starfield is exactly what i got.
It's opinion. I hate crafting. I hate mining. I hate outpost building. I don't need to do any of those things so that is good, but it means the rest of the game has to be good. I like ship building. I like the gun combat. The spaceship combat is OK. I like some of the quest line missions. It's not all bad. In the end it's the repetition and the NPCs that did me in. All games have repetition, but IMHO Starfield has too much of it. Don't care about any of the NPCs. I find them all to be uninteresting. We're playing the same game. We just wanted different things from it. Every other Bethesda game going back to Daggerfall made me want to see what happened next. In Starfield I stopped caring. That was the dagger.
@@patwilson2546I personally love the game as well. I don’t get why people are saying it’s repetitive. People who loved clearing out dozens of Skyrim caves and forts are saying Starfield is repetitive. 😂. My first play through I did a run and gun killing and attacking, the ng+ I purposely talked my way through most situations. Also in ng+ I took the time to visit and explore all parts of the cities instead of rushing through. There is just too much to do.
@@TheChenny73 It was the combat mechanics that kept me playing as long as I did. Skyrim is repetitive, of course. Almost all games are to some degree. Starfield takes it to a new level while eliminating what Bethesda games traditionally do best - enjoyable exploration. I'm glad that you like it. A lot of people do. At this stage I'm not one of them.
Btw just a tip if you continue playing. When turning your ship to face the enemy, decrease your ship 's speed to be at the white bars on the meter. Otherwise, use the thruster perk.
Thank you, yes, sometimes I find it a bit off, but one thing I like about the movement is the smooth transition between walking and running directions (in third person).
So far I like it. I approached it telling myself this is NOT no man’s sky. Course, the issues of loading screens is annoying. No ground vehicules emphasizes the problem of not being able to roam a planet surface with your ship. But im still very much into it..!
Oh thank you so much :D Yeah, I wanted to keep the video as brief as possible + spoiler free, but yeah maybe in the future I will make a video on it or something.
It's flawed and so fun. Also love and hate the main story. The alternative timelines thing is great idea. Not a fan of the dragonborn but in space concept. It would been more interesting to have starborn powers be a magic system. That you can opt to spek into. That way there's more varied enemies who also use starborn powers. I feel like it add a lot more depth and intrigue
Meaningful universe breaking changes could have been a reason to NG+. Keep levels, make different decisions. I also would have loved a 'reincarnation' option. Next character could start as a broke neon street rat. As you gain levels, you'd 'remember' your past life's perks, skills, experience (+XP boost), etc.
Playing starfield is like watching grass grow but more boring and uglier to look at. Bethesda single handedly got me back into gaming when morrowind launched. This game only makes me sad. I tried to start this game 5 times and after an hour or two just couldn't stand the utter SLOG the whole experience is. After playing cyberpunk 2.0 this game just looks, sounds, feels and plays archaic. Nothing here feels like a Bethesda title except how boring their butter faced dialogue scenes are. Horrible just horrible. I would've taken 3 0r 4 worlds full of content than this wide as an ocean deep as a puddle garbage. Just like fallout new Vegas before it outer worlds by OBSIDIAN ENT does a much better job in giving you the feeling lyou're on an outer space adventure.
Your comment about companions is false. Give Sarah a laser gun and she becomes a killing machine. Also having Sarah in your ship greatly increases the reach oc your grav drive. Andreja has 4 of stealth and is the perfect stealth archer with a sniper gun. Vasco will defend your ship from hostiles.
