- Traditional woodworking, metal working, CNC, laser cutting and some creative finishing techniques to make a sign for Reverend Guitars. I made this sign in trade with Reverend Guitars for their Mike Watt signature line bass. It was a great learning experience that used many disciplines and tools.

Pleasure working with you David! Thanks for everything!
Never thought about buying one of your guitars before but after watching this video I realize they are quality guitars they are beautiful!
"Where I come from, walnut grows on trees"... David you funny man!!! 🤣🤣🤣
Side note : I am so pleased (and somewhat relieved) to confirm that I am not the only one throwing fingers around to things that fall on the floor around the shop!!
Ok so i really loved 1. the sign 2. the video with all the mumblings 3. the music you made 4. Reverend Guitars' workshop . Thank you for the pleasent entertainment.
Thanks for watching! The holes on the back of the metal frame were elongated to allow for expansion and contraction. Something I forgot to do when filming. Thank you Reverend Guitars for such a cool opportunity! I freaking love that bass! ånd yes that was Mike Watt's actual bass in the shop as they were doing some work on it. What wasn't shown in the video was Ron Asheton's guitar hanging up in the shop. A very magical moment for me to pick it up and touch it!
Also.... FIRST!
@@MakeSomething I really like your you tube channel thank you for all the tips and tricks
Great job on this video, very cool to see all those skills in one project. Next time you should burn a maple top kit guitar and wrap it in iron. that would be a cool video.
Hahaha!
@@MakeSomething Iv been working with carpentry since I was 5 my grandfather tought me how to work he cut his fingers off twice he always told me when I get cut I'm getting better but once you start cutting shit off your an expert he's had 9 heart attacks and 1 stroke. I'm only 14
Duuuuude. That sign a a freaking beaut! Also I dig the style of this video. Definitely some style and insight into your design process!
Love the "shitter's full" reference and then the cyclone falls off the table!! Good one!
Have been a believer in you for years, Mr. P!!! Not stopping now:) Rock on!!
I came here for the projects. I subscribed for the energy. I watch all the video for the music. You have absolutely the best music of all the makers on UA-cam....that I'm subscribed to anyway.
Oh man, thank you Jason!
I love your philosophy, “I don’t have to give you a reason”, love it! I don’t remember this company when I lived in Toledo, but then I’m not a musician. Can’t wait to hear some of your music, I think you are better than you give yourself credit for!
"the walnut hairs come back.." Nut hairs coming back is always the worst.
HAHAHAHAHA!
BobaFlett ua-cam.com/video/Kh48am6Jpuk/v-deo.html
I have a love hate thing with hairy walnut
“Went over it one more time with the, with the, thing”...”You know what I’m saying”. Yeah, but did you ground the CNC? That’s a nice sign Taylor designed. Why don’t I have a new guitar? You’ve changed, you’re not drunken any more... 😁😁 Love it. Love it all. The fun, the music, the project, the humor, the honesty. David’s on fire and he’s burning walnut 😉
I think this is a winner 🏆
As a tinkerier/musician(bassist) the song has a great groove brother. When I'm down about my journey on YT you come along and inspire. Love ya man!!! Thank ya!!. Sadly I'm a fender guy, Fender all the way.
THAT was a ton of fun to watch!
You've been talking on the Podcast about feeling unmotivated. This video you look like you are enjoying yourself, and I hope you have your mojo back.
I'm digging the creativity with music lately in your videos. Another great one. Thanks for the content over the years.
That's a smart sign to compliment some very smart guitars! When I make a sign, I use my Glowforge to engrave the logo elements very lightly onto the background so I can line up the letters over that!
Dude, probably one of your best videos - and that's saying something. I think you are really coming int your own on your production style -it's been cool to watch it evolve. Also, awesome that you are doing something with Reverend Guitars - I've been a fan and customer for a while.
Great to see all the tools and textures and materials that went into this build. The energy level is definitely up in the recent videos. Nice also to see the behind the scenes in making the music and the passion and creativity that you put into it. Keep highlighting the local businesses and take us along on your field trips. Enjoy listening to the Making it Podcast too. Cannon ball into the hot tub
Awesome!! I just love so much the fact that you make the music for your videos and it's actually pretty good! Great trade ;)
This was an awesome video. All of the different techniques really came together!
A tip for the acrylic is to use double sided tape sheets before you cut it; it makes all the letters big stickers that are so easy to apply.
So I walked up to this girl and said “rail hammer”. Maybe I’m not using your pick up line correctly...
Ha ha ha .... I love it 🤣🤪
You are definitely not the best woodworker in the game but I enjoy your videos the most! Great video again! Looking forward to see the guitar build.
Too much talent/skill/passion in one video ... I can barely handle it.
The finish on the bass is sick.
Beautiful guitars. Beautiful sign. Just beautiful.
Love it! Love it! Love it! Great project, David. Thanks for the video. ❤️
5:34 Greatest line ever!! Keep up the great work "just having fun"!
I'm just a caveman, your creativity frightens and confuses me!
Nice David. Thanks for making.
Very cool stuff David! Thanks for sharing with all of us!
That was awsome. could not have made something cooler for a great company and my favorite guitars.
One of your best, in my humble opinion! Really shows your strengths as a maker. You're willingness to evolve is inspiring, David! Stay safe, looking forward to the next one ✌️
David, this has to be one of my favorite videos you have made. Great content, great music. Not only do you look like you have a little bounce in your step but it is heard in your voice. Thank you, Bill
Woohoo! Looking forward to that guitar build!
That bass beat is awesome. Great job all around David.
Awesome as always. And by the way, I love your backing tracks!
Keeping the bar high writing your own music for your videos! We want all the tracks - workshop demos, B-sides, remixes, live, acoustic…. You can’t go from “because lacquer” and black staining walnut to “I only release perfect versions of my music!” We want it all!
Hahaha. Good point!
Making the clear template for alignment is genius! That is a very cool trick to keep in the back pocket.
That came out awesome, super cool with all the different skills and materials you used, especially the acrylic that really made it pop!!
Excellent sign. Great video. Keep up the awesome work!!!
Awesome video. I love signage builds
David This is your best video in a long time!! GREAT work!
Honestly your best video yet!
Another awesome project!!
Again bringing it all together. Great project and music. As far the music release...anything worth doing is worth doing right and worth waiting for. Some bands spend weeks trying to get a song right.
So much i love about this video- the acrylic template, to the music, to your personality, to the metal frame, holy cow David you are elevating your skills to another level. I'm so proud of how far you have come and i am anxious to see where you go! Keep doing you!
Thank you Matthew! 🙏
Pretty nice work, Dave! Beautiful sign!!! 😃
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
That turned out so sick!! I love it! Great tip using the acrylic "template" for gluing down the letters! Thanks for the video!!
Yeeesss!! Guitar build! I can’t wait for that. The way you add your aesthetic to all your projects is gonna lead to one bad ass guitar. I just finished my second one today, a butcher block LP. Getting more excited with what you’ve been doing lately
Thank you!
That was smart to use the acrylic template 👌
Sign looks great.
My kind of project. Nice job. Walnut grows on trees where I'm from too 👍
Man, I’m glad I’ve found your channel!
I love the music that you make for your videos!
Turned out great David, awesome work! 😃👍🏻👊🏻
Siiiick! Love it man.
YOOOOOOOO. Reverend guitars are so cool!
Man that orange one is gorgeous
Love the bass and the groove! Oh, nice sign too. Lol. Great video!
I’m looking forward to that guitar build!
Cool sign and some beautiful guitars!
Wow! A truly entertaining and special episode on your channel, featuring my most favorite hobbies and passions. Music and the production, performance and instruments/equipment used to produce it. combined with Woodworking* design, planning, building, and the tools used throughout the process. You set a high bar for yourself. 👍🏼👍🏼
*yep you added sone bonus footage of CNC/X-Carve acrylic design, cutting, etc.
Looks amazing David!!
Maybe it’s because I just finished a nightshift but I laughed so goddamn hard at “shitter’s full!”
Great stuff!
That turned out very unique and awesome rock on keep up the great craftsmanship and hard work my friend keep making
Loving the music!
You nailed it Dave!!
Make more signs. That was awesome
I like the C&C Music Factory sticker on your CNC Router ... "Let me see you move"
That may be my new favorite song.
That background texture made a surprisingly huge difference. Bravo!
That sign came out awesome!!!! Really liked it!
That was a great build.
The sign board is really cool, the OST to.
Awesome video David! “Shitters full” got me good haha. I really love your style and humor and I’m glad you’re being yourself more on camera. I also didn’t know your shirts came in black so I paused the video and ordered a couple right after I hit play. All around a perfect video brother. Thanks for the content!
Oh man, thanks Dan!!
Real nice Clark!!! 👌🏼
Great music and great video!
Great video. Love your bg music. Catchy. Sticks in my head. Cool sign. Mahalo for sharing!🐵
Stop being so humble dude, you are super talented at everything you do.
Thanks. But I think I say that because my close friends are crazy talented musicians and I always feel inferior to them. Guess I need to get over that!
@@MakeSomething I can relate. I used to always call myself a "hack" because I couldn't play like Stevie Ray Vaughan. But my drummer told me one thing that changed my tune. He said dude, there are millions of people out there that can't do what you do... That's all it took.. And if that doesn't help, just think about Jimmy's trumpet playing... Lol love ya David.
🙏
Love this video. Can see the enthusiasm come through. Like all the creativity shown. Keep it up
Very cool build. Really enjoyed the music too.
Dave needs a signature Reverend!!
Gorgeous. The subtle rust on the frame and textures really are great.
Thanks Brian!!
Nice video David! I enjoyed watching it
The sign is the Bomb - different process/techniques all came together for a class act product
Great video! Love this more experimental and mixed media stuff. It's inspiring. =)
Love the music!
Excellent work David! The sign turned out great & that Bass guitar looks awesome! 👍🎸🎸👍
Another great video that I hadn’t seen yet. This is great.
And I really love the background music you did.
Great video and sign 👍 The black dye segment was hilarious!! I also enjoyed seeing the Illustrator and VCarve programing.
Awesome sign! Those are some sweet lookin guitars too!
David, I love this video. Beautiful combination of design, technology, and craftsmanship. Once again a perfect video for my classes (if you don't mind) Thank you!
Of course! Thank you so much!!
David winging it is so got damn inspiring. Keep it up! :)
David man this is one of your best videos!! GREAT work! Love your enthusiasm ALL the time man. You know what I'm saying!! Double cheek clicks all around. LOL!!!!
Very cool sign and guitars. Love Reverend Guitars, and they make lefties, which is a must for me. :)
That was an awesome build, and the sign looks bad-ass!
I hope you’ll do more videos where you combine all your different skills.
Great Style of Video...
You're a talented guy Dave, the background music is really great in this video.
