    For a better soldering connection push the two ends of the wires together first without twisting them then use flux and solder. It gets in between the wire strands more thoroughly and creates a better connection. I notice you didn't use any flux. I enjoy your videos and thorough instructions as to what you're doing. I am in no way telling you how to do your job but as someone who wires stuff daily that is the best method. The new connectors with the low temp solder in them and the silicone waterproof rings at the end are great too.

    Ever had any issues with installing the after market radios and the accessory wire not powering on? ESP when you use the steering wheel controls? Keep have an issue with a bike that will not turn aftermarket radio and now the factory radio will only turn on after taking battery loose and reconnecting. But only works the first time. Heard it’s a common issue with these can bus bikes. Thanks for any info.

    I know you kind of answered this question in the comment below... but I need to ask it more specifically.
    These Harley's have 2 joystick buttons on the handlebars... the left handlebar joystick is for channel control and volume control and it's a home button... the right handlebar joystick is for navigation around the screen kind of like a mouse or d-pad.
    I'm sure the left joystick works because that's pretty standard steering wheel controls but... does this kit allow full functionality of both of these joysticks where you can navigate around this Sony unit without touching the screen using the right joystick?

    Really enjoyed this video and part 2. Do you need to add a different amplifier with the Sony? Does the stock amplifier have enough power to support the Sony? TIA.

    I have a 2008 electra glide that I have customized with a complete JL audio system. I changed out the inner fairing for one with a double din. Can I use this unit or the 7000 and does the mounting ring/bezel come off?

    You should likely fast forward through the stripping and soldering part.

    I seen that you hooked up and soldered the dimmer wire.. What are you hooking that up to on the bike??

    • @FatHeadCycles
      @FatHeadCycles  6 років тому

      That wire has a corresponding wire in the Metra harness that plugs into the factory connector. Thank you for the view!

    Are the Sony double din radios that you are installing waterproof and able to survive getting caught in the rain when riding?

    • @FatHeadCycles
      @FatHeadCycles  6 років тому +1

      The only thing that I call waterproof is a ducks ass. LOL. But seriously when I installed the unit in the bike above the customer got caught in a rainstorm on the way home. Reported no issues. Said he had nothing but smiles. Thanks for the question

      I think proper word is marine grade...are they? And can I still use both handlebar controls with this unit?

    • @FatHeadCycles
      @FatHeadCycles  6 років тому +1

      This is not technically marine grade, but we've had no issues with those we've installed it for - and we offer an optional splash guard with the bundle. The bundle does maintain your factory handle bar controls.

    Too bad looks like a nice radio but I would need something that’s waterproof. Something that would hold up to 300 miles in the rain at least. Highway rider here
