    Thank you for your religious backgrounds makes it more enjoyable. I have bought a Rockford fosgate system kit was cut outs out of necessity for my Street glide special. Love to know and hopefully see videos helping us with that system. I do have a Sony 5000 love it the Rockford fosgate is absolutely amazing would love to see more tunability for the amp

    • @volunteeraudio

      It’s really not louder by adding that particular amp, it’s roughly the same power as the radio, I would add the hertz Hmp4d instead which has 600 watts instead of the 400 watts the Rockford makes, remember the Sony makes 400 watts as well

    Great video. Informative and easy to follow. Question(s), if I'm understanding correctly, this Sony unit has an amp (4 X 100 watt max) within the radio and capable of running 4 speakers ( say Hertz SX 165 Neos). Do you feel there is a need to run a second amp and add 2 or 4 more speakers. Two points of concern, 1st- will there be a significant increase of power draw on the battery (therefore having to upgrade the battery). And, 2nd- with a second amp and 2 or 4 speakers, how much increased volume would I be able to use? In that, it's great to be loud, but sometimes to much is just to much. As the video goes, this appears to be a relative simple plug and play by installing a Sony unit and two sets of new Neos. I'm I missing something or this a great upgrade at a minimal cost? I look forward to your reply and keep up the great videos. Thank you

      Since the radio is 2ohm stereo capable you can run up to 8 speakers, for example, 2 upper coaxial, 2 lower coaxial, 2 tour pak speakers and 2 lid speakers off the radio without adding an additional amp, this radio produces about 80 watts rms @ 2 ohm and will surprise you how much power it puts out while only requiring about 20 amps of current

      I just installed this radio on my 2018 Road glide special on Friday. I have db drive euphoria EX6NCD in the fairing and hertz sx690 neo in my saddlebag lids powered by sound digital Evox 1200.4 -2ohm. Stock 6.5 GT flashed and tuned with Rockford DSR1. The GT radio has so many glitches from time to time. I removed it. My amp took a dump on me so I wired all my speakers to the sony xav-ax7000 without the DSR1. Boy! Let me tell you this internal amplifier will surprise you. Will I win a sound competition? No, but I can hear my tunes at highway speed until I replace my amp.

    Question... if you are going to put the dimmer on auto... cant you just hook it up to a separate switch or inline it to other lights you may have added so that you don't blind yourself during night riding? to much light from the dash will actually lower visibility.

I’m wanting to add the Rockford sub and enclosure that Harley just released last year. That speaker is a 2ohm. I would push it with its own amp of course. • @volunteeraudio
      @volunteeraudio  3 роки тому

      If you are referring to the 400 watt Rockford 4 channel amp, I have tested and the Sony radio has as much power as that amp, make sure you are using an rca to feed signal into the amp, not high level speaker input, after your gains have been set on your amp any eq or filter setting that you increase can create clipping at a lower volume than the volume you chose when setting your amp gains, small changes are normally ok but don’t turn the bass all the way up or turn needed high pass filters off and expect it to stay clear and non distorted

    Nice video Mr Jay! One of your recent customers and now new sub. Question: what fuse will blow after extended radio on if 4 ohm is selected? Are you talking about the radio power in line fuse that came with the radio package you supply? I didn't open that rubber cover to see what size fuse y'all supplied, perhaps that's the 15 amp fuse that you say will blow? Or is it one of the main fuses on the bike within the fuse box? This is good to know.
    This is a great reference video. Please keep them coming. Can't wait for an upgrade to this radio where I can use apple car play to run the radio speakers and radio screen and have BT audio and voice from the radio or phone into my Cardo unit for cell phone audio and video. Right now, I haven't figured out how to have both visual on radio screen via car play and BT audio and voice with my Cardo unit. Appears it's one or the other. With car play, I cannot use hey Siri cause my BT helmet microphone will not work cause I'm plugged into the radio usb, and the wired mic will not work cause I'm riding the bike at speed and even if I had the mic cord plugged into the radio it would not work cause it could not distinguish my voice. I'm not wearing a corded mike while riding a motorcycle. And there is a lot of switching I have to do to take the call which I'm always now missing calls and cannot make calls if I'm on car play. If I'm not operating the unit correctly or if I'm doing something wrong. Please let me know. Thanks!

    • @volunteeraudio
      @volunteeraudio  3 роки тому +1

      The fuse in the rear of the radio is the one referred to, you have to unplug the harness from the rear of the radio to access it, anytime CarPlay is active, Bluetooth is disabled, no matter how you do it using Siri to control the radio on a Harley is nearly impossible at speed

      The Sony radio was not compatible with the boom amp, so we no longer use Sony radios in Harley Davidson’s since Soundstream reserve introduced Harley specific radios. They are superior in every way and do keep factory options like boom amplifiers. We always recommend a larger amplifier with 100 watts rms per channel or more to hear clearly at highway speeds

      Phone only comes through the front channels, make sure you are using the fronts if feeding an amp, also that your phone is connected through Bluetooth for media and calls, you may only be connected to media. You do have a Harley correct?

    Question: If I'm running a Rockford amp and I only have my fairing speakers (Sony), would I need to adjust the speaker impedance load from 2 to 4 Ohm? Does it matter? This is a great vid! I installed my 7000 unit a little over a year ago and thought I had my settings correct.

      Actually the Sony radio is backwards from all amplifiers, normal amplifiers increase power when seeing a 2ohm load over a 4ohm load, Sony actually lowers power of the internal amp when 2 ohm is selected, 4 ohm puts out more power and will blow the 15amp fuse at high volumes when connected to a 2ohm speaker

      When this was made the GTS was about $1300 more and the Soundstream reserve Hdhu14+ was not released yet. We now feel the HDHU14+ is a better radio option for 2014-up Harley and still roughly $1200 less than a GTS radio
