THE HATCHLING | An Original Dinosaur Short Film

- Опубліковано 16 жов 2023
- Introducing ‘THE HATCHLING,’’ an original short film that transports you to a world where dinosaurs and man coexist. Nestled within the picturesque outskirts of Pine Ridge, a tight-knit group is thrust into a thrilling adventure to help reunite a baby Deinocheirus with its family in the sun-soaked wilds. Alongside evading the wrath of prehistoric beasts, our heroes are entangled in a web of forces who wish to capture the infant for their dubious agendas.
THE HATCHLING features professional quality independent filmmaking and beautiful visual effects-all available to watch on UA-cam. Starring Carrie Gibson (HBO’S Barry), April Consalo (Cannibal Mukbang), Lamonte Forte-Jordan, and Liam Krivcov. From director Tim Cianfano, producers Max Bellomio, Anthony Feliciano, Luke Lotardo, and Chris Pugh, and writers Bri Bollmann, Tim Cianfano, and Chris Pugh, viewers of all ages are guaranteed a thrill ride like no other.
We’re thrilled to present this short film, it has been a labor of love from an incredible collaboration of independent filmmakers from across the world. We can’t wait to talk more about this project down the line, but until then thanks so much for watching, and we hope you enjoy!

Thanks for watching! This has been a huge undertaking over the past year. While I didn't direct this project (that credit goes to Tim Cianfano) I did the majority of the dinosaurs and VFX in this. I hope you enjoyed it!
To clarify for anyone asking about Agate, nothing happened to it. This is a different project I've been working on, but isn't my own project like Agate is. Agate is being worked on every day and Kickstarter backers receive frequent updates. As it's such a huge project, it is taking time to complete. Soon, I'll start posting more updates to my channel as well, so stay tuned!
Great effort Max
@DigitalDuckOfficial this was truly fantastic ^^. I’m really surprised that you aren’t apart of the Universal’s Jurassic Team
Is there gonna be more to come with this short film? Can we expect to see more stuff related to this to come ? ^^
Sorry but Is too short
@DigitalDuckOfficial great work
Bro we need more of this please 😢
People have a sick humor when by far the most replayed part of this short isn't any of the Deinocheirus scenes, but the Baryonyx showing up at the end to presumably attack our protagonists
It not only did attack the protagonist, the suchomimus ate the woman’s dog, that’s why she’s looking traumatized
Hey Rick
This is beautiful. Deinocheirus deserves more love. Give the Giga-Duck the attention he deserves.
W
Ornithopods deserve more love
W
bro u are like the paparazzi of paleotube. you are always there first, and you rarely find something, that doesnt have a comment from you lol
And deserves to live of course
This went from whimsical to horror pretty quick
Great stuff! The dinosaur VFX are stellar!
huh
The Deinocheirus was peak!
TierZoo!!!!!
Tier zoo and vividen?
Yeahhhh Tierzoo!
We are now in an era of Dinosaurs where Deinocheirus gets its own solo movie (10 minutes but still)! People really are cozying up to so many unique prehistoric things in general!
Sucho will star in the second
@@caroledwards6962 Part 2 confirmed!?
It's amazing to me how far our knowledge has come. When I was growing up, Deinocheirus was one of the biggest mysteries in palaeontology, nothing but an enigmatic pair of gigantic arms that everyone thought would be attached to a 'giant ostrich'. No one could fathom what we eventually found.
@@Pop-ms9zf yea prob
@@thealmightyaku-4153 I remember the days of Bizarre Dinosaurs, where it was just a ripoff Therizinosaurus tat climbed trees. I have to say, this version is MUCH cooler
I’m so glad Dinosaurs like Deinocheirus are getting more screen time and love
And my boi Suchomimus is finally getting the spotlight it deserves.
Really loved this, especially the contrast between the innocent fascination of Dinosaurs and that harsh realities of having them in our environment. The mom brought up very good points about the invasiveness of their species, but the kids were only capable of seeing how cute the baby Deinocheirus was. The ending sums this up perfectly. If you wanna live with Dinosaurs, you have to be prepared for them to do what they need to for survival.
It’s such a great way to tie in the moral teachings of Jurassic Park without directly referencing the series.
Species featured in the short film:
- Deinocheirus
- Coelophysis
- Suchomimus
Species featured on/in the species field guide:
- Pachyrhinosaurus
- Borealopelta
- Pteranodon
- Nyctosaurus
Now the question reminds how many others are out there and how dinosaurs started living in our world (because this series is not connected to Lockwood)
I really want to know the lore of this universe!@@canonbehenna612
@@canonbehenna612 So far we know of Deinocheirus, Coelophysis, Suchomimus, Pachyrhinosaurus, Pteranodon and Nyctosaurus.
Those are genera, not species, and I'm pretty sure that spinosaurid was a Suchomimus.
I thought they were Compsognathus if so that coelophysis must have been downsized probably due to paper I have not seen
It's an injustice that this video only has 132 thousand views
I love that when the mom Change gears when she saw that the badge was upside down. She may not like dinosaurs, but she wasn't going to work with poachers.
WHEN DID YOU GET HERE???
@@CasuariusCasuarius Six months ago, currently.
@@paleo-zoo-keeper-association I don't even know if we met at that point in time.
Also, did you need any more information for the Uintatherium thingy?
***Spoiler***
The Suchomimus scene at the end is more chilling than anything we've ever gotten out of the Jurassic Franchise. Especially that roar, that gives Path of Titans Maip a run for its money in terms of unsettling.
I dunno the compies eating a baby at the start of the Jurassic park books is worse. And the Troodons in the Jurassic park telltale game were even more creepy.
@@freddiewilliams3589They’re clearly referring to the movies only. The books are scary.
I play path of titans and oh my god... yea
This confirms it, dinosaur short films are the way to go
Agreed
yikes the mood is all over the place with this it went from wholesome nostalgic dinosaur kid show to dark realism this was so cool
Well that was a suprising ending 😂 hopefully there is a part 2 with a horror style feeling
did the baryonyx eat her dog?
@@Elinstenrayeah :(
Also I think that was Suchomimus
@@danktorvosaurus yeah
@@Elinstenra It kind of ruined the short for me because the dog looked like my dog 😭Still amazing, tho!
@@Silvermoon424 to be fair; an alternate scenario, a scared and barky and bitey dog might be able to deter a big ass predator from sticking its nose in a car in the first place
This is absolutely incredible, the acting is amazing, the CGI is perfection, it is all just so good, I’d love to see more stuff like this if there’s any plans for it
I’d say he has more plans considering he made a lot of stuff like this already.
This was only 10 minutes and had much better characters, dinosaurs, vfx, writing, and a “dinosaurs in the wild” plot than Jurassic World Dominion. Absolutely stunning.
Agree to disagree on Dominion, but this is really well-made
@@Pop-ms9zfdominion was kinda... objectively trash. The plot and pacing was whack, the characters were whack, the action sequences were whack, the dinosaurs (besides the theri) were whack (especially giga and pyro), overall just trash
@@IndominusRex-wc1ey Nah, Dominion did a fantastic job of portraying the animals, as well as the corporate greed that manipulates nature, and how nature fights back. The Dino designs were impeccable (as well as the Quetz, Lystro, and Dimetrodon), and the action and sequences were super fun to watch! It’s objectively AWESOME in my eyes, and also the 2nd best Jurassic movie
@@Pop-ms9zf Rexy was made a hero yet again, Giganotosaurus was killed unfairly. Corporate greed and nature fighting back has literally been the basis of every single JP movie and none do it better than TLWJP let's be real. The Quetzalcoatlus appeared for a whole 1 sequence and played second fiddle to a plane crash. The designs are good, sure, but Dimetrodon and Lystrosaurus' usages were pointless and ass, Dimetrodon literally never went on offense against the humans once. Giganotosaurus ESPECIALLY is awful and not at all representative of an even remotely believable animal. The action sequence, even the final battle, was shittily choreographed and constantly interrupted by an over-focus on humans.
Ass movie imo
@@IndominusRex-wc1ey Agreed Dominion was trash and objectively the worst Jurassic movie.
The baby duck! So precious! Makes me want a "nest cam" type of thing and stare at lil baby dinos all day.
There's something about a straight-up real-ass Baryonyx looking directly at me that no other movie version of the animal will be able to capture.
Ralph is going to be everyone’s favorite and that’s why deinocheirus are still one of my favorites
Seen lots of people compare this to Jurassic World or Amblin works but what this really reminded me of was Primeval. Always great to see some more "prehistoric animals in our time" type of media!
This was one of my favorite projects to work on as a Sound Designer. Bringing sound to Dinosaurs has long since been a dream of mine and glad I got the chance to with this project!
I hear you used Elk sounds for the Deinocheirus, correct?
@@Mr.Estiverne100% majestic and Spooky. A great suggestion by Chris!
@@austinconway3918so you're responsible for my new sleep paralysis demon that looks suspiciously like a Suchomimus?
What creature noises did you use to create that terrifying roar? It was amazing!
@Metphies- you're welcome!
Tim, our director, was adamant about one element and I dont think it's my place to say what that is just yet. But there is Bear in there for sure.
Did you use the eweweweweweweww parrot noise for the baby?@@austinconway3918
This was absolutely incredible! Congratulations to everyone involved in production! 💯❤🔥❤🔥
Hi Nature
I love your videos ❤
Deinocheirus is my absolute favorite prehistoric creature, seeing it done so well in vfx really touched my soul. such an amazing creature with so little media coverage. and the acting is top tier. absolutely over the top excited to see the work that will be done in agate.
That was awesome! Getting to see the Deinocheirus and Suchomimus was incredible!
I’m surely blown away with everything especially the acting, usually with independent projects like this the acting can suffer but it all felt authentic.
This was a very exciting project to watch, it has all the makings of a classic 80s adventure movie. It also has the ability of being not only its own distinct film but it feels like the climax of a much longer project. I would love to see something like this adapted for a full feature.
Congrats again to the whole team for completing this labor of love
It was totally giving Nostalgic action adventure vibes, think E.T, original Jurassic park, Stranger things. It has everything!!!
This should be a whole movie it’s absolutely outstanding!
The storyline and characters are already so likeable and the Deinocheirus is so cute
Deinocheirus and Suchomimus ~ lovely choice ~
The best dinosaur short film i've ever seen, just so adorble and 100%
Best live action one for me the animated ones like old buck hit different their made by someone called dead sound
This short film is an example of what I thought Jurassic World Dominion was gonna be, awesome work!
My only complaint is that it wasn't longer! Loved the way the dinosaurs were rendered, and their behavior was natural!
Absolutely stunning work! Having a couple Deinocheirus on a property seems like both the ultimate dream and ultimate headache (at least in terms of habitat management). Like elephant-sized geese with beefy forelimbs.
The effects look spectacular! Though it feels weird to me how, the deinocheirus appears to not have a tail fan, despite that feature being the reason we know it had feathers.
Its a juvenile.
It might have grown on later.
It's inferred it had feathers because of what seems to be a pygostyle on the tail, not the wings. The adults have both tail feathers and wingy feathers on the arms, but more like an emu than a flying bird (which doesn't make sense for such a large animal that would be using its claws for grasping)
@@DigitalDuckOfficial OH youre right. Due to the angle it looked like the adults didnt have one, thats what i was talking about. I do know that ornithomimoformes didnt have complex "flight-like" feathers that dromeosaurs have.
@@DigitalDuckOfficial There was also a typo, i meant to say "tail fan", not "wing fan"
@@DigitalDuckOfficialI hope to see more form this channel in the future!
The production of this was really great to watch. Thanks so much for inviting me to the set, Tim! The movie turned out great!
The suspenseful music before we see the suchomimus killing the dog is so good. The entire film was great, it has a light tone to it like Camp Cretaceous. But that scene gave me literal chills. Dramatically changing the mood into horror was a great choice. 8:33
I absolutely adore the addition of the Suchomimus at the end of the film.
It's just really fun and exciting to see my 1# favorite carnivore get a pretty good spotlight (plus the tone shift when it appears is eerie asf and I love it)
Deinocheirus is literally one of my favorite dinosaurs!! So glad that it is slowly becoming more popular. Incredible short film!
It was worth the wait, the effects were incredible, I loved it!
This turned out better than I could have ever imagined. Even some of the acting is really good. This piece gets a chefs kiss from me
Deinocheirus and suchomimus this is incredible
Great work to everyone invovled!
oh that cliffhanger was amazing I want more of this so badly.
I did not expect the suchomimus at the end, whst a dark YET accurate ending
This was one of the best Prehistoric Short Film that ive ever seen
The Designs of the Dinosaur and They're Behaviour
They're Sound
Beautiful.
I was gonna say that this has the vibe of a PG 80s movie like E.T, but I think with that ending it’s gotta go up an age rating.
Amazing short film! Everyone did a great job, and the dinosaurs look great. Love the Deinocheirus family and the Suchomimus screaming at the end.
This was brilliant! Universal needs to snatch this up, and make it official! 👏👏👏
please no.

Excellent job, from one group of indie dino filmmakers to another.
I love the way that denioch looks
This is definitely what Universal and Amblin Entertainment NEED to do.
This short film was a nice treat, and made my day. ^_^
This is what dominion was supposed to be, this is awesome.
Imagine what we would accomplish if he got to do this stuff for the jp franchise.
For a dominion Netflix series this is what it would have. High quality, like what universal USED to have. 😊
dominion was better ngl
IM LITERALLY IN LOVE WITH THIS!!!!! THE CGI IS ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL AND I ABSOLUTELY LOVE RALPH!!!!!! So glad my big goose boi is getting more love!🪿🪿🪿
I don’t understand how this video doesn’t have the views that it deserves.
Love how they always have the carnivore pause to look at them for a few seconds, then roar! It's funny and it is kind of like "Ok, so what are you going to do about it?" Awesome!
Wish this film is longer then 10 minutes
Awesome!!! I knew that Deinocheirus was yours!!!!
The Duck got the attention it deserves
Loved the final plot twist... Both of them.
This is incredible! Kudos to all the cast and crew! It's always cool to see non-Jurassic Park/World dinosaur films. The CGI is really good, too. And I love how Deinocheirus is the main dinosaur. Glad to see it in the spotlight. My only criticism is that I wish there were more. I would like to know how the dinosaurs got there, and what happens after the spinosaurid (Suchomimus?) digs into Tammy's truck. All in all, though, this a great piece of work.
Best dinosaur short film ever!
Prehistoric beasts hold my horn and jaw
That 10 mins is better than what universal did in the last 4-5 years
This is definitely one of my favorite short films of all time!!! I wish it were a feature length film!!! 🦕 🦖❤
I love this story, really interesting take on dinosaurs and humans coexisting. I'm actually writing an inspired story based off of this where an autistic-and-mute war veteran finds an orphaned Tyrannosaurus chick he names "Donna" after his wife, who passed away of old age, and is on the fight-flee-freeze from similar forces to the ones pictured here trying to arrest him and capture the baby T-Rex.
Cheesy story, but I'm trying
That final shot with what seemed to be a Suchamimus/Baryonyx was just what got me the most
Love this short film
An 8 episode anthology series would be awesome!!
I want a UA-cam series based in this universe!
You've done amazing on this! That last screech before the credits gave me legitimate chills
a solid gore fest of a horror of this would be amazing!
i hope big companies out there sees your work and gives you the proper budget for a whole film and lets you use your artist privelages!
Sometimes when the baby duck makes a certain sound all I hear is that red bird going "œugh wee weeh"
This coincides with the weird birds trend and im so all for it
_EXCELLENTLY_ done (👏)! The Spielbergian vibes were *very* strong here, reminding me of both “E.T.” and the ending of “Dominion” with Beta being returned to Blue.
_All_ of the dinosaurs were well-rendered, composited, and animated (👍👍). And the _darkly_ humorous ending with the spinosaurid I wasn’t expecting, but it was a _nice_ touch just the same.
I think it’s a Suchomimus.
@@johnnygallagher5718 It looks like it could be a Suchomimus, yeah. Or possibly this film’s version of a Baryonyx.
This actually looks like an official project and I love it!
I love that you used Deinocheirus, a dinosaur that is almost completely unknown to the public. Loved this.
love seeing my favorite dinosaur Suchomimus in this :)
I'll say, people will be quick to tie this charming short to the Jurassic franchise. While I can agree to an extent, personally speaking, I find it more of a continuation of the Prehistoric Park/Prehistoric Kingdom story. But I guess Nigel Marven was needed elsewhere while this took place 🥰
What an ending! Is there any intention of submitting this short to film studios to make a full length feature?
That sure took a turn, lol. Went from cute to sad/horrifying in seconds.
This is what I wish was delivered with Jurassic World Dominion all along. You saw the potential in the premise and executed it perfectly! The effects and the designs look amazing. I do hope there’s more down the line like this!
The amount of work put into this is insane, Amazing work!
Freakin' wonderfull !!!
Hope to see more like this in the future !!!
Wow! This is much more Jurassic Park than JW dominion. Congratulations to the crew!
Great Work! Excited To See More! :-)
This looks so amazing and the dinosaurs are incredible in this, so amazing and brilliant.
Hopefully, we get to see more dinosaur media like this in the future because this looks amazing.
Great effects! Brings up topics like preservation within captivity and exploitation of animals/poaching for money as well as whether invasive species should be saved instead of just eradicated( I think a species brought back from extinction from millions of years ago would be considered invasive now). Even though I love dinosaurs I think it’d be wrong to bring them back if it were possible(same with mammoths) as cool as it would be. The danger to the environment outweighs I think anything we could learn from them. Besides dinosaurs are birds now and they are pretty cool so we have that.
If we bring back mammoths it would be beneficial to the environment rather than the opposite.
That’s the main reason why scientists want to bring them back at the moment. The introduction of mammoths to Siberia can slow down climate change and increase plant and animal diversity.
However dinosaurs would not be a good idea to release into the environment.
Mammoths would be able to naturalise and fill a niche now eradicated in Siberia. Isn’t it predicted that mammoths would help rather than cause harm? They aren’t thinking of introducing them to places with animals that already fill the niche at all. Also I’m not even fully convinced it’s possible to bring them back yet so I’m not fussed at all, but if they are it would be good.
8:57 that Suchomimus sound scared me :(
Incredible quality for a small-scale production, particularly the beasts! Dang big coyote at the end there.
amazing! cannot describe how great this was!
Such a good short film, great dinosaurs and a nice contained story!
Wish Hollywood still had a interest in dinosaurs to make stuff like this.
That, I'm guessing suchomimus roar at the end sent chills
