Everything about this is just awesome, the dilapidated yet still colourful city, the T. rexes with biological samurai armour, the young Rex playing with the human skull, the freaking mob boss dimetrodon. This looks incredible.
Dimetrodon looks kind of like an Edaphosaurus, to be honest.
@@prehistorichero2755 the description says they have become dominant over humans so don't think it will

I absolutely LOVE the idea of a setting like this that takes inspiration from the fact that the Japanese word for “dinosaur” literally translates to “fear dragon”
That's interesting. Swapped lizard from dragon but kept the rest
Also in Chinese
Damn I never knew that
@@fabrizioart1928 No, the original name means terrible lizard. Fear has a different connotation to terrible, as if implying nightmares.
@@HaloForgeUltra I mean, it's not THAT far, tho. It's the fearsome/scary lizard. Invoking TERRor (and possibly reverence) is a meaning TERRible can have.
I like how you don’t see a dimetrodon when you look at the fat one, but you genuinely see an Italian mob boss.
More like a yakuza boss ;)
He's smoking the smaller dimetrodon in his mouth like a cigar
@@reallycantthinkofausername487 I thought that the Dimetrodon was chewing a Rat lol
You can also see a little bit of a Komodo dragon in there.
Great Girros!
Just came back to this today and only now do I notice Father Rex was actually reading the sign instead of just looking at the neon lights. Don't know if that was how it was supposed to be interpreted but if so, it is a BRILLIANT way of subtly showing intelligence.
Love this comment. Thank you.
Impressive designs here! The T. rexes looking like samurai and the Dimetrodon looking like koi says so much about who created them, and why. They seem like they were intended to serve as living works of art rather than accurate representations of extinct animals, and that’s a very interesting angle to go in.
Dimetrodon looks kind of like an Edaphosaurus.
The Big Boss Dimetrodon (or Edaphosaurus or whatever) has fat jowls like a male Tegu lizard, and that detail combined with their koi-like coloration suggests that these sail-lizards that have since found success in the abandoned city were meant to be garish living art pieces or exotic pets (they're basically glorified iguanas).
If you look at it from a Japanese cultural perspective, them being so colourful is basically a reference to the Yakuza and their tattoos.
Imagine that the Australopithecuses will look like Japanese snow monkeys.
Ok
I love how this simultaneously feels retro and modern. And the dinosaurs look amazing. Looking forward to seeing more on it
fr the samurai rex is dope asf
Aren’t you the guy who said you’d get demonetized for showing a baby?
Retro futuristic, that's Japan!!
I knew I'll gonna find you here 😂
Yeah it's like the put something very old like dinosaurs with something very new like cold cathode gas-discharged lights
I don't know if anyone else noticed, but when you see the first dimetrodon it looks like he's eating a baby dimetrodon, which is a really cool detail as those creatures were known to be cannibalistic. I love the little touches in this trailer 🥰
I don't think they were known to be any more cannibalistic than other animals.

This is actually insane. I love everything from the unique designs to the character you gave to all of the creatures. I especially love the huge alpha dimetrodon and how pompous and confident he looks
dont forget Chonky
1:29 I love the contrast between the two. One eats their young, the other protects at all costs. I can't wait to see if this is some sort of foreshadowing for what the story will entail
One little detail that's cool is how the webbed spines of the dimetrodon look like the "sashimono" back banners Japanese warriors wore in battle to mark who they served. You can see this when the dimetrodon charge and the "banners" move back and forth as they run in
thats the detail you noticed? not that the city still has power after what appears to be years without human life (you know, to run the power plants and such)....
@@omegablast2002 Maybe they weren't a fuckhead who masturbates to the cinema sins method of consuming media.
@@omegablast2002
It’s set in the future. Could be powered by solar panels or some other energy source that is renewable (hydro/wind) and requires minimal human intervention. In fact, they would still work for years if humans were to hypothetically disappear unlike our other energy sources like coal or nuclear.
Also the banners clearly show that humans and dinosaurs lived alongside each other at some point. This could be set anywhere from 1-5 years after humans vanished.
@@enfieldlammergeierDon't be so sure about how long power sources like Hydro, Solar, and Wind will actually last, those systems require a lot more maintenance and repairs to keep them running behind the scenes, Solar less so, but even then they would need to be cleaned and maintained for them to operate for much longer than 10 years.
Also powerlines, whether above or below ground would eventually be damaged.
@@TheHeroBeats
Well, maybe this takes place 1 year after humans disappeared. Or 1 month. We don’t know.
And even if we will find out, it’s futuristic anyway, so they could have figured out a way to produce energy with minimal human interference.
the yakuza dimetrodon sent me. very well done without being hyper anthropomorphized, from the way it holds itself and the camera angles with the narrowed eyes really sells its pompous nature.
I just don't get why a yakuza synapsid would be fighting against a dinosaur with the inclusion of rex "king" in its name, since the yakuza support the emperor and imperial japan. Makes no fucking sense. Immersion totally broken for me.

A T. rex with biological samurai armor formed from its scales and horns is genuinely one of the coolest ideas i’ve ever seen
That Rex with Shogun armor is probably the most badass thing i've seen in years. the aesthetic looks amazing and visually pleasing! never thought i'd see the day where there's an actual Dinosaur show with neo-tokyo like aesthetic, i know it doesn't make sense, but it's been in my mind for a long time because it's such a cool concept to think about. this is just awesome!
@@groyper1177 What a historical moment, thank you for that very important information, masterchief.
Is it armor? I thought it looked like natural growths mimicking armor, especially on the little one
@sarcasticat6979 I think they meant it’s protrusions resembles shogun armor
I also like how the t rexes are somewhat scientifically accurate with lips not showing their teeth and the binocular vision. Plus the baby t rex has different body structure than its mother. Which would have accurate since younger t recession occupied different niches from the adult.
This a game or?
Samurai dinosaurs in an overgrown city, that’s three things I like in one project

Finally, a T. rex design with accurate proportions, interesting details, and not just a ripoff of Jurassic Park or King Kong.
This looks very, VERY interesting!
Yeah, its a unique and creative design that keeps the the rex's most important traits
Without golden armour and baby being feathered, it would look very accurate.
@@cemilhan725 I don’t mind those because they’re obviously artistic choices by the creator, and I think they look very good. Helps their Rexes stand out from other designs.
yeah, if you ignore the loud walking.
I agree, the model is unique, it has realistic things but also fictitious, thus creating a beautiful and very unique design and I don't care about the footprints, it is a series for training, it is not a documentary.
The T-Rex in this is absolutely stunning, and it’s proof that you don’t need to forgo scientific accuracy to make an interesting design. Keeping the bulkiness and generally correct physique of the Rex while making it appear similar to a Samurai armor set is an amazing idea, and it fits with the setting amazingly. Awesome stuff!

Um... weren't dinosaurs like t-rex and velociraptor supposed to be feathered or something?
@@LecherousLizard apparently full feathered Dinosaurs isn't as "accurate" as it was thought.
@@LecherousLizard For dromaeosaurids (Velociraptor, Deinonychus, etc) yes, they absolutely should be. Relatives like Microraptor, and Zhenyuanlong had them, and Velociraptor was preserved with quill knobbs which suggests it did as well. Check out Prehistoric Planet's takes on those. For T. rex, it's still pretty much up in the air. The large consensus now is that they might not have had them due to their larger size, of if they did, it might have been something like an elephants hair. The only skin remains we have of it are of small patches of tiny scales. That said many of its earlier tyrannosauroid relatives like Dilong, and Yutyrannus have evidence of feathers or filaments. Basically absence of evidence might not be evidence of absence. Without extensive fossil material in this regard, there's room for interpretation yet still, until new discoveries challenge it in either direction.
Yeah it's kickass. I will never understand how some people have a problem with this design and say, "This isn't what the T-Rex looked like! Bullshit." Well, duh. I mean seriously, if we bring logic back into this conversation, this technically isn't a T-rex. This world which obviously takes place in a distant dystopian future, somehow, managed to bring Dinosaurs back but much like Jurassic Park, couldn't make exact clones of the Dinosaurs of old due to how impossible it is to just re-create Dinosaurs via their DNA. It it were that easy, we would have already done it. So they filled the gaps in the DNA with other things and created creatures that are similar to the original Dinosaurs, but are still technically Lab Experiment Monsters. Hence, the reason why this Theropodian Dinosaur that resembles a T-rex, has a crest/horns. Among other things.
*OMG This is GORGEOUS!* And can I just say how freaking cute the baby T-Rex is? The way he gets excited like a little kid when he finds a "toy" and then hides that "toy" when danger comes was too cute!

Yup but dimetrodon and T. rex are just so beloved by everyone so it makes sense
We’re probably going to see a Tricamurai or Ankyloronin.
Not exactly Japanese dinos, but Triceratops and Ankylosaurus are equally as famous as Rex that we’ll certainly see them.
I think that detail could pretty easily be explained away by background details in the setting. We see multiple posters depicting humans and dinosaurs existing together, so this seems to be a world where dinosaurs are still around into the modern age and are potentially domesticated and/or transported around the world similar to real animals today. Animals from other parts of the world are present everywhere in the modern age, we have dog species that have been exported from their original countries of origin to new countries all the time. It reminds of me the scene in the film I AM LEGEND, where Will Smiths character encounters a wild lion in New York years after the end of the world. Clearly this lion was kept in a zoo, and went on to escape and continue living on and potentially having babies in a setting that is extremely far removed from its original habitat. So I’m this world, dinosaurs are as naturally present as dogs and cats are to us. Who’s to say that they didn’t have a zoo or sanctuary in Japan that had some North American dinosaurs, and those got out and populated Japan after whatever apocalypse ended this world. I’m really excited to see what this project does with these concepts, and I seriously can’t get over how cinematic and beautifully made this short was. Such a beautiful and interesting world that I can’t wait to explore further as more is released about it!
Wow I can’t believe I didn’t even read the video description before I posted this comment. Dinosaurs were genetically re-engineered by the humans Jurassic Park style. Still, that’s explains why there would be North American dinosaurs in Japan. Still, it’s a great concept and I can’t wait to see how they handle it, and hopefully that detail gives the developers and artists freedom to put any cool dinosaur from any part of the world into their game. Dinosaurs are sick as fuck and I can’t wait to see the designs and gameplay elements that bring them to life
I hope this will have no dialogue and will be more storytelling-oriented cause of them being animals.
But no matter the details of your project I will support this, I already love it based on the trailer!
When do you plan releasing the full thing? This is amazing and I love the aesthetic/style of the film. What was the inspiration for this and how long has the project been going for?
Awesome work you done here, I hope to see this out on the store soon.
*I'm Hooked!* I am keeping my eye out for this!
This is an absolute marvel. Never have I seen a private animated show with such detail, love, passion and creativity as this. Each frame is like a painting with the gorgeous lights, a stunning layout and intricate details to this dystopian Japanese city. 10/10 trailer, doesn’t show too much but enough to hype not just the stunning visuals but the action and lore. How were these dinosaurs made and why? What happened to humanity? What will happen to the genetically engineered and mutated reptiles now seemingly taking over? A show with questions and imageries like this is surely one to earn a 10/10.
Dimetrodon technically not a dinosaur but i like the concept a lot. the Rex looking at his old image flickering, remember the old days with humans. I really hope the creatures so more humanization in their behaviors, being around them and possibly studying them (crossing my fingers they talk lol)

Very very intriguing. The visuals are excellent, in particular I really enjoyed how some shots seemed to transition from smooth, high-def animation to the more paint-like, frame-by-frame aesthetic. Incredible work so far, and I'm excited to see what comes next!!!
Thank you very much!❤
@@KyoryuLimited when will this come out, and it is for streaming services or cinema, I've a gut feeling it's for streaming services. What's the release date.
@@DragonSavior2930 it's to attract investors and collaboration, they want a game and streaming series kind of like the Transformers Franchise
All they need now is _Samurai Jack_ to play our eyes as a fly on the wall in this new cinematic universe
WOW! That's absolutely insane!
Nicely done! Love the look of this. The art direction is immaculate!
Thank you! Can't wait to reveal more.
Pure visual storytelling that tells you everything you need to know about the world. Great stuff.
I wonder if there are Triceratopses, pterosaurs, stegosaurs, iguanodons, brachiosaurs, ninja-raptors, hot spring-loving Australopithecines, woolly mammoths, giant elks and saber-toothed tigers in this show.
It's not a game.
Wonderfully stylised, really inspiring stuff for animators and other creators. Keep doing what you’re doing!
wow I’m glad I found this! It looks amazing the designs and animations everything looks great!!!
I'm so glad this got randomly recommended to me and I clicked on it. This looks amzaing.
Unbelievably amazing concept, animation, lighting, and everything!
Awesome work!
Oh my god this looks awesome!!! 👀 The creativity on the designs, the stylization, the color scheme, the animation, the concept, it’s just incredible! This is the kinda stuff I wanna see in paleo-media! I can’t wait!
those animations are just great. and the samurai skin is als a very cool idea :D great work!
Just discovered this trailer. It looks absolutely incredible! I can’t wait to see the full series.
This looks so cool! I’ve always thought the idea of post apocalyptic dinosaurs was an untapped goldmine and this just proves that. Looking forward to seeing more from this!
Not totally untapped, look up Cadillacs and Dinosaurs.
@@nvfury13 fully aware of that comic/show/game as well as Primal Rage. I’m just saying those two never really went anywhere after the 90s and the concept kinda died along with them
I thought I'd stumbled on what would be Stray 2 lol. Don't know anything about this, looks interesting.
@@nvfury13
Hell yeah.
Wooooooooow how amazing is that! And kudos for the beautifully stylized yet well informed dinosaur designs! I lOOOVE the weight in the animation too!
Seriously we think of animals back then as dumb n stuff but i love this video on how it depicts them as intelligent. As a wanna be amature paleontologist i can totally see dimetrodon having a structure similar to such but not militarized like that. And the parental instincts of the T-rex and the overall social intelligence of predators and their environmental intelligence and how the little baby acts "immature" indicating that they infact learn through wisdom. Sorry to nerd out but hot damn i love the portrayal.
Oui mais il y a pas vraiment de preuve directe que tyrannosaurus rex que le t.rex était aussi un intelligent malheureusement sont cerveau nous prouve plus tôt le contraire en réalité.
@@laseriedeladilophosaure9246 sorry i cant seem to translate this i don't speak french. Your comment looks intriguing mind if you translate it for me?
So cool! I loved the painted style in the begining so much!
Massive praise to everyone who worked on amd is continuing to work on this project, no way this was an easy feat, but its more than worth it when you push out a piece of art this good. Really love the samurai T rex design, and we get to see the bond between it and its young.
Did I just watch a Samurai T.rex fight an army of obese Dimetrodons in a dark alley way in what I assume to be TOKYO JAPAN???
Coolest sh¡t ever
Ahahaha yes !!
I'm late to the preview, but holy gods! This is absolutely stunning! Can't wait
Bro I’m so excited to see more. Your animation is just so perfect. I just really like the little dinosaur his-her characteristic is just perfect. The curiosity of human things is like our curiosity with dinosaurs. So good man. Can’t wait to see more!
This looks like an amazing project!!!! Something about the dinosaurs, making them smarter with equiping armor and having societies, and putting them in a modern setting, all this just works! Im amazed! You have my full support!
Dumb.
This looks amazing and it’s definitely giving me the Dino King vibes but this looks amazing, can’t wait to see this.
this is beautifully animated
AWESOME!!!!!!!
THE BEST ANIMATION I HAVE SEEN IN THIS YEAR!!!!
I love how the dinosaur designs looks like they’re from Fossil Fighters games. It’s dope as hell
Now this, THIS is how you do stylized dinosaurs.
Dinosaurs don't NEED to be realistic in *every* piece of media. But they should still look like what they are supposed to be.
Not whatever the hell they were in that movie with Adam Driver.
Yes, the fact they are all inaccurate but immediately recognizable as the animal that they actually are is so cool
This looks great! How long do we have to wait till you make a full length movie with it??
I'm already nervous about mom and baby. I hope they live. Can't wait to see more
