+rowdy 752 I disagree,I think they did a wonderful job with this car from the interior to exterior and today's V6 engines are so much better than the ones from 10-20 years ago they are more powerful and quieter. I think a bigger car is coming and it'll probably have a V8
+Sedans!!!!!!SUV!!!! AUTOMOTIVE!!! We will see reason I'm saying this because i came across a 400hp lincoln mks I have a 09 Genesis v8 and I beat him in acceleration and handling performance and that has awd
That chassis is a technological marvel! who would've thought a car this big would that light! And with high quality materials, features & gadgets at that! Hat's off to Travis, Dave & engineers at Cadillac! Bravo… Bravo. And being a modern Cadillac … handling is outstanding! I too had high expectations for the CT6 (being the Cadillac fan that I'm) & Cadillac delivered on all fronts… especially in the interior department. The interior design language is much better than previous Cadillacs & I'm very happy that they are keeping the Piano-Black surfaces to a bare minimum! I always hated that in the other Cadillacs … especially the Escalade. The big seats with the chevron quilting\stitching (glad they didn't follow the trend of diamond quilting) alongside the monochrome Cadillac crest on the fender & the somewhat complex grille inserts (on the Platinum model) are reminiscing of the proper Cadillacs of yore. Wide, Low, Long & with attention to details … Harley Earl would've been proud. There are few things that bothers me though: That perforated leather area surrounding the screen annoys me… the wood should be extending all the way through. The start button should've been Aluminum. A high end clock would've been nice too. And the interior could use more color\wood combinations … I hope Johan uses his Audi expertise to address that in the future! That interior in proper Maroon, Mustard, Havana brown ..etc would look sooooooo good! And I hope he drops the Platinum trim for something more sophisticated… Like BMW Individual or Audi Exclusive. I'd make a one more suggestion for Cadillac, OLED screen & update CUE with black backgrounds … it will fit perfectly with the touch sensitive buttons surrounding it.As for what would I pick for almost 90 grand, That would be the CT6 (though frankly I'd rather wait for the V8) … I already spec'd mine for $71k :)
It's a 3.6L 'Luxury' trim with: • Stellar Black Metallic (or Moonstone Metallic, I like both). • Jetblack interior with the Chevron Stitching (part of the Enhanced Vision & Comfort package). • Active Chassis Package. • Bose Panaray system. CD Player. • Illuminated Trunk Sill Plate (should've Been standard). $10,095 worth of options (with All Wheel Steering & The Panaray make most of it) with a grand total of $71,485 ... :)
Linsey Redd It's ok,but I am learning new things at every opportunity thrown at me. The best thing about co is they match $ in 401K and they have offices all over the world.
Thanks so much for going into the interesting engineering details of this! Auto-journos drop the ball so hard on this sort of thing. It is appreciated - and the car looks to be quite the creation.
like i said on another CT6 review, its a crazy value, its the size of an s class with the price of a 5 series, but it weighs less than a 5 series all while keeping similar materiel usage in the cabin as well as exterior. some serious leaps forward from shit Cadillacs of 10 years ago.
+justin bouche If Donald Trump becomes president and he enacts his trade policies what will happen is that US cars will get parity with Asian and European cars when it comes to import/export taxation. This will make American cars even cheaper again and the quality will still stay there. I think we are on the cusp of a resurgence in American cars. The Engineering is clearly there it now just needs the correct trade conditions.
+steve jones Oh god no where do I start. The founding fathers were Freemasons. I know many Freemasons and none of them are involved in any secret special super agenda. Of course Sales are down the US economy is taking a hammering both internally and external. As I have stated a president like Trump who has a trade policy like the US had in the 1950s and a taxation policy similar to this period will start the US economic engine again. The US auto industry has the engineering just look at this video.
+bighands69 quit blaming this on the economy... This has already been discussed.. Cadillac has established itself as the cheap luxury brand and now that it has priced itself closer to it's competitors now everyone thinks it's too expensive. Car is an amazing deal, but perception is everything..Overall sales are not down... It's competitors are seeing increases...
I live on the island of Oahu all my life and I'm a father of 3 adult kids. For two decades I have owned and driven mini vans (GMC Safari & Toyota Sienna). Planning for the near future and approaching my retirement years. I gotta have LUXURY, performance, and functionality. I love the Cadillac comfort 405hp get up and go power with the rear video system. Meaning when the grand kids come knocking at your front door, I'll be ready with this vehicle. Love the platform Cadillac is heading, not since the DeVille days of roomy interiors. thank you Cadillac and MotoMan for the review.
I bought mine in Platinum, with the adaptive rear wheel steering upgrade, so this... car... No kids, Southern Virginia. It's an upgrade from my 2017 2SS Camaro (drop top, proper 6 speed on the floor). The CT6 is in a single word "Stunning".
i love your channel. I'm just getting into the car sales business myself for Cadillac, and training has proven to be a very independent task for me to take on. I'm sure it's the same with many newbies to the business, you just get thrown in the lake and you sink or swim. Your videos have really become my tutor on just about every car we have on our lot. I try to study everyday, and not only are they highly informative, they are so interesting. Not only that it brings what seems to be a lot of knowledgeable commenters as well. Who may not realize it are a very useful, ironic at times, resource.
8:58 Such well-balanced coverage! Great show as always. Very good car. As a previous owner of an LS400, to me this has the right 'feel' both interior and exterior while being thoroughly modern and updated. I like the 4wd solution too. Timing chains!
You missed the important interior stuff. 34 speaker Panaray Bose system, video screen for rear view mirror, and back seat! We are aware that weight affects driving dynamics and all, but what about mentioning it's as light as an M4 coupe! Or the fact that it's not very good looking inside or out compared to its German rivals
+Nikhil Vanmali Nikhil . . . With all due respect . . . please read the comments. I have mentioned multiple times in this episode and the TECH REVIEW that we are going to release a COMPLETELY SEPARATE EPISODE on the Bose Panaray System. As for comparing lightness, the weight of this car was compared to 5 other cars within the episode . . . That should more than get the point across. Thanks for watching.
+MotoManTV Didn't even look at the comments, but I was just thinking its a more astounding fact that it's as light as an M4. And as for the next tech review thank you!!! I really want to see how they did the speakers in the headrests and the sound box in the floor. I drive an M4 so this is a pretty incredible car, but my family also has an current gen S class and this car really seems to ruffle it's feathers in terms of technological innovations
+Nikhil Vanmali this car is very attractive to me inside and out. though beauty is in the eye of the individual, so that's your opinion. I kinda don't buy you driving an m4 and your family having an s class with you commenting on an American car an all.
+MotoManTV I hate it when Torque comes in at very low RPMs, its a dead give away that the car is turbo charged. Having to revv it a little to get into the power is much more satisfying in my opinion makes the engine feel that little more N/A
+Nikhil Vanmali 34 FUCKING SPEAKERS?! That thing is going to sound like a concert hall. Do you by any chance know the number of speakers in the S-Class, or 7-Series? The new Range Rover Sport has only 16 and sounds absolutely amazing, i just sit in it and listen to music all the time.
I cannot wait to buy this car! 90 grand is a bargain. It's gorgeous, understated and powerful at almost 9 horses per pound. American luxury is back baby! I live in the wonderful state of Maryland.
$90,000 will easily buy you an S-Class. A slightly used previous model year is an example. If you wanted a W221, you could go 2013 for even less. Now, you have to remember... shortly before the Daimler-Chrysler merger, Daimler-Benz created the highly modular and aluminum intrusive W220 and it was a technological marvel. The full size LWB model came in at less than 4,000 lbs (closer to 3,900) with the airmatic suspension. In 1998, this was amazing. Standard satellite navigation, radar cruise control (distronic), and everything else patented for the 220 was also amazing. Nothing is more beautiful to me than a pre-midcycle model. That's why I bought one years ago. Now, nearly 20 years after MB pioneered the idea, Cadillac continues to perfect it.
Ahead of its time, so to speak, this car offers the surprise of incredible driving experience and performance. In sport driving mode, the car maintains dynamic, muscular control even when you experience a bump at high speed; absolutely no fishtailing! This car backs up its muscular look with muscular strength performance. The 404 hp is magnificent and smooth, with an astonishing maneuverability. Many times before the end of the day you’ll just thank God, and He’ll encourage you to greater good. After all, isn’t His inspiration behind Cadillac just like any other entity? ITNOJ Amen 🙏
My spouse and I currently own two 2014 BMW 328i sedans and we live in the metro Atlanta area. I honestly love the look of the new CT6. Both are considering upgrading our cars within the year for something more luxurious and spacious. The CT6 is affordable than the German cars we've looked at.
If they are using 200M lbs.of pressure with dies to create those waffle wheel arch supports then that would be a forging method, not casting. Casting is the pouring of molten metal into a form without significant pressure. So, did they forge, cast, or pressure cast those things?
Actually MotomanTV, I WOULD buy that car! I'm currently a CTS owner and have been happy with the results from my 2009 model. Now that is not in the same class as this, hence $90,000!! Having had the service under Cadillac warranty, I was quite impressed! Well done explanation, and the cutout car is a big help to explain all that weight savings. Without seeing it here, I would be in doubt, but this is one nice ride (and very light too)!
Like I said before, if I was in a market for this kind of a vehicle I would buy it blindfolded. It is my pair of gloves. Ticks all of the boxes, at least for me, design, engineering, engine choices, technology and price tag. Got to love it.
Hey Motoman, I really like the relationship you have with the Caddy guys and the uniqueness it brings to your videos (of course you are unique in your own right). They really give good insight into why their cars have improved so much. I general I like the approach you take with your reviews.
Live in California, land of the Imports. I'm 30 and on my 3rd BMW, and the reason I haven't looked at a Cadillac? A) PRICING - Cadillac cannot command same/similar pricing as the Germans. I laughed my way out of a dealership after I saw a CTS V Sport was so close to the same price as a 550i MSport. If they're the same price, go with the Germans, the resale will be better, quality better, dealership network will be better. B) SERVICE - Domestics, any of them aren't even in the same galaxy as a BMW/Merc/Audi service department. Take your car in for an oil change and want a loaner? Sure no problem, request one ahead of time but you'll get one. Go to any domestic dealer and you'll get offered a ford focus/nissan sentra rental at the most, if you can twist their arm. So I don't see anywhere in the future I'll ever go domestic, which is sad because I WANT them to succeed, but I wont give them my $$$ for lower quality and worse dealer networks. Pass
MotoMan - to answer your question, yes...I would spend $90k on a fully loaded CT6 versus comparable vehicles from Germany. I'm from Arizona and have followed the car market closely for 30+ years. The federally funded financial injection has done wonders for GM, and Cadillac exemplifies this best. Like the CTS, the CT6 will be either on par or exceed its competition. Seems like Cadillac design engineers are hell bent on reducing weight, much like the Corvette engineers have done for years. The Germans will catch on, they're just not there yet. For those that do not worry about prestige and marque alone, they will benefit by at least comparing the CT6 to its competitors. When I do, it makes more sense than the others. For Cadillac to be successful, they'll need to distance themselves from GM and continue marketing the heck out of their great vehicles. They'll need the $50k-$90k buying segment to view Cadillac as an equivalent to BMW, Audi and Mercedes. That, and sell boatloads to China too.
Im a bit confused about the whole displacement tax thing.. I am living in japan and I drive an r32 GTR and despite the motor being a 2.6 L engine the fact that it is a twin turbo adds something like 1.4 L to the displacement and I still pay the higher engine tax because of that. So my question is this, what is the point of undercutting the engine to 2.95 L instead of a regular 3.0 if the twin turbos are going to knock it into the higher category regardless?
I'm looking into getting this car, not because of performance. I drive a lot! and need a new luxury car, comfort is the main thing I'm after, that and to be surrounded by up to date technology/safety. I really wish I could see more of what the car offers on that side. Also I have to admit it makes me feel good to buy American.
This car is 60 lbs heavier than a 2015 335i and yet it is 22 inches longer. The Cadillac is bit more expensive, but there is a lot of overlap in the pricing at the top and bottom of the range. That is amazing!
Cadillac are really getting their act together, almost up to European standards. Give it another 2 to 3 years of progress to be on par with their European rivals. Keep it up Cadillac.
Nice informative and entertaining review as always! I think this Caddy looks great! The design is unique yet handsome (read masculine), like most of their line-up, and seems less awkward looking at the front quarter (to me) than the previous CTS. Their pricing is still a bit on the high side for a domestic built car. The 2.0L base car starting price should be less than $50K. Recently cross-shopping Cadillac with Volvo, all specs near equal, our loaded Volvo V60 T6 AWD R-Design and XC60 T6 AWD Ocean Race came in at least $5K under the comparable Cadillacs. Also glad to see Cadillac has updated the Que system as we found its functionality "unfriendly" or clunky, and our cars have the legacy Volvo controls with the hundred buttons. Some of us old school dudes still like to press good quality (soft sprung) tactile buttons. There's a dedicated button or knob for most functions, so no menu searching or scrolling required.
I would buy the Cadillac. When I was growing up this brand and Lincolns were always something you would see an older established or retired person driving. This I would drive at 34. If I can get that look in an American Car I will go American. I always think about cost of repairs, and maintenance issues. I have not had any severe problems with any of my GM vehicles. They have been very good to me. I am a proud owner of a Cadillac CTS4 coupe.
Sooo I would just like to debunk a few things about this car...I drove a 67000$ Ct6 yesterday and let just give u some9to chew on..sound system/stunning...the feel, the look, the sheer elegance of its saloon/mesmerizing it gives u this great confidence with an astute pleasure of space.moto-man u have a motor mouth..this car is the essence of what a true Americana is about in a..only a Cadillac:folks go drive feel let your sensations run wild here in America.
Oh man. This is going to be sweet with that new V8 TT. Hell, the CT8 is going to be on S-Class levels of interior quality at this rate when it comes out (if not better). The expensive CT9 coupé has a chance to make Cadillac the most admired luxury brand.
+maxjtj31 That's for the base turbo 4 cyl. The AWD V6 twin turbo that he was driving weighs 4300 lbs. Still a few hundred pounds lighter than similar competition.
maxjtj31 Much more than that. Larger engine and associated cooling and other accessory components. All the drivetrain components need to made stronger and heavier to handle the higher torque. AWD and the associated differentials and driveshafts. The higher end car also has 4-wheel steering, while the base car doesn't. The higher end car also more interior features which add weight.
For a long time, I've been trying to see how this, the Continental, and the new G90 stack up against each other. They're all amazing value propositions for the customer who can afford an E class, but would upgrade without hesitation to the larger S-class if it were the same price with the same specs and options. And after seeing this review, I have to say, this will probably be better than the G90, and definitely better than the Continental, but that isn't saying too much considering that they're all great cars, and they all make a great case for themselves. I'm a Lincoln fan and the new Continental stole my heart, I also love the Equus/G90 for its backseat comfort, but I'm also a geek for tech, and as of right now, I'm leaning heavily towards the CT6 because of its engineering and sharp looks. I always wanted a long wheelbase CTS, but this that and so much more, and that interior looks like a nice place to spend time in. BTW, I live in Portland, Oregon.
I am a huge Cadillac fan. I give the overall look an A-. The only thing I am not completely in love with is the quite rear end. The front end is very strong and beautiful, something I really like.
I'd purchase the CTS6 you have in your possession. I'm very impressed with the product and feel very excited about the prospect of actually considering Cadillac in the future. it seems like its not just a great value, but a cutting edge automobile. Yes, if I had $120k to spend perhaps I'd go straight to the Benz, but its not a sure bet. I think the Germans are too focused on upping each other with electronic gizmos instead of creating a great driving automobile. Aurelio in Phoenix living in a divided household---bear down! PS- I love your work! you have the job of my dreams!
we own 2 caddies ats 2.0 xts twin turbo...id buy this one in a heartbeat..we ve had 12 caddies over the years and each one is better than the one before
Motoman great review as always, though I'd have liked you to talk some more about the back seat. Since its a luxury car and all. Also I really, really like the new Genesis G90. I like what they're trying to do with both cars, bring upper crust luxury a bit closer to the middle class. Please do a review of that car when it comes available and compare the two.
I have owned 2 Cadillacs in my life - 1 a 1993 DeVille and a 2002 DeVille. Both of them provided a very comfortable ride and modest performance with acceptable handling and fuel economy for a large luxury sedan. BUT - I would not buy another Cadillac unless there were a long manufacturer's warranty (i.e. Hyundai 100K mile, etc.) since the quality of engineering and reliability is absolutely horrible. Both cars, a decade apart almost, had major repair issues at or under 100,000 miles. For my money, if I want a quality vehicle, I'll continue to buy German engineering since I have also owned 4 BMW's and ALL of them were built much better in all aspects. Cadillac will have to prove itself to me before I will ever shell out big bucks on one of them again.
If I had $90k it would be a choice between two Caddies ... this and the CTS-V. I think the choice would depend on what other cars I owned. If I had another sports car or sporty motorcycle, I'd opt for the CT6. If my second car were an SUV, the CTS-V would be the choice. If I were going to spend a bit more, I'd simply wait for whatever Caddy has next, given the promise this shows. Given that this betters an E-Class in size, performance, and luxury at this price, and better a "base" S or 7 class in technical goodies, for less money, I'd love to see what they have in the offings as far as a CT8. There is nearly nothing not to like about this car. I mean, only the middle seat in the back, which is a bit hump like ... that's it. I also wish they had debuted the V-sport (or whatever) version with the V8 they are working on, because that would paint a clearer picture. Whatever it is, Caddy has done an amazing job. They've "split" the market, finding a niche in size and spec that Europe has yet to occupy, and filled it with their trademark "performance/luxury" combination. My guess? We see a CT8 next year that is based on a six inch stretch, making a 210-11 inch ride, again, in between the e550/600 and the stretched versions. They'll probably lavish it with more carbon fiber or aluminum trim, and give it a rocking v8 as it's "base" motor. Caddy will, again, split a segment. Their proposition is rock solid right now. I get it. If they can fill in the top segment, IMO, it actually makes it tough to choose any German car over the cadillac competition unless you have brand loyalty issues you are dealing with, lol.
(Had to split my comment into 2, because UA-cam won't let me post it as one)What do you think of the contrasting woods? Or the wood\carbon fiber combination in other trims?I can't believe I'm gonna say this, but do you think the new Lincoln Continental is comparable to the CT6? Personally I don't see it & I believe they are on totally different levels, but for some reason, Magazines & Blogs think it’s the sixties all over again & they are comparable. Thoughts? Speaking of wireless charging & connections … did you see the new E-Class? The charging plate have an nfc circuit that connects with your phone & uses the car antenna for your phone to get a better coverage! That's very cool!Just your luck, the rain followed you all the way to Florida lol.As always, excellent work M!
+IceDree You are off your meds again . . . You know what to do . . . :) In all seriousness, the Continental is not even in the galaxie (see what I did there:)) as this car. Frankly, I don't know which car is worse, the Continental or the RLX.
+MotoManTV Daannnnggg! Good grief! Are you serious? Look, MotoMan, please do explain to me your comment. What do you mean by "the Continental is not even in the galaxie." I haven't had the opportunity to see it up close so tell me your full thoughts on the comparison. And what are your thoughts on the G90 in relation to the CT6?
I see what you did there :P Ooh no, I'm perfectly fine & I'm on my meds :) I was just curious, since you got to see both in person. Yea I don't see either ... I suppose the RLX is worse ... At least the Lincoln hides its Fusion roots better than the RLX's Accord ... And with the Lincoln you get to choose an interior color that's not Plastic-Grey lololol
+AutoRingMagazine So here's the good news: We are currently in a golden era of cars. There are SOOOOOO many choices on offer for the person looking to spend US$50,000 - US$125,000 on a car. As such, the segment has become HYPER competitive. Look at the upcoming E Class and this car (CT6). Both incredible steps forward - yes, in somewhat different directions - but HUGE leaps forward. The Cadillac in terms of engineering and lightweighting. The Mercedes is UBER high tech and interior design/fit/finish. As such, there is simply no room for a phoned in entry like the Continental. I don't know where to begin on what's wrong with it. Design: Unimaginative, busy and poorly proportioned. Engineering: NO ONE. But NO ONE will take them seriously building the car off that platform. I don't care how much business sense it makes - people don't buy cars like these because an OEM can amortize the cost of a platform over 5 cars in 3 different segments. Like dogs can smell fear - luxury car buyers can smell pennywise and pound foolish. Then there is the interior. In a very odd way, this is ONLY area where they got the damn thing right - but not in a great way. Yes, they did channel the history of Lincoln's past - which is storied indeed. However, instead of looking to the elegant 56 Continental with it's aviation inspired interior or the groundbreaking exterior design of the 61 Continental, they went to the Huggy Bear era of the mid 70s and the found inspiration for the interior design and detailing from the Mark IV!?!?!?!?! Again, in a way this is only good thing about the whole project - they picked a direction and stuck with it - good, bad or indifferent. As for the G90 - Andre and the team at HATCHI in Irvine did a STUNNING job on that car. They really took a step back and asked themselves what they wanted to do with this car. Did they want to create some wacky design to get attention or go the long route and build an identity. They went the latter and picked up the groundwork that was laid by the highly successful current gen Genesis sedan. I am very much looking forward to driving it. What's more, I just got back from the Hyundai Elantra drive and had a good discussion with Dave Z, CEO of Hyundai Motor America and they get it where Ford and Lincoln don't: They know if anyone is going to take them seriously they CANNOT share platforms between Hyundai and Genesis. As such, he was clear as to their product plan going forward. The cars you already know about PLUS: A 3 Series. An X3/GLC type CUV. An X5 thing and another car. ALL rear wheel drive with an AWD option. This is the basic cost of entry. Hope that clarifies the statement a bit. Who knows, may cover this on an upcoming #AskMotoManTV if you want . . .
+MotoManTV Good Grief! MotoMan, thanks! You really put things into perspective for me. I really didn't look at it from that point of view. Thanks for the excellent argument. And also, I would like to say that I do truly agree with you concerning Hyundai entree into the luxury brand. Their fit and finish is on par with their vision.
Too bad that water droplet was on the camera lens @ 09:48 blurring the view of the rear wheel steering in U turn scene . That's something I would've liked to have seen.
If I had the funds, I would definitely choose any Cadillac over its German, Japanese, and English competitors. They have value as well as performance. GM has learned how to make their cars have world-class handling and have much lighter curb weights. The trickle-down effect has already reached such excellent cars as the newest Chevrolet Volt. However, GM has a real public perception problem. It seems that only admitted "car guys" tend to know anything about the revolution over at Cadillac. Example: I live in the San Francisco Bay Area and I've yet to see a new CTS-V, ATS-V, XT5, or any CT6 on the roads (and I'm VERY observant). This is the heart of the Silicon Valley, and the "luxury" car of choice is a Tesla Model S or Tesla Model X. Even when it comes to hybrids, I've seen maybe three of the the failed ELRs on the road since they came out in 2014. I realize there is more of a "green" tilt to the tech sector of the United States, and I believe GM will make the most inroads with their upcoming Chevrolet Bolt. If Cadillac has plans to go all-electric soon, it will be at that time where they appear on the radar of the general public.
I know this video was years ago, and I'm sure you know this by now... But, the 2016 Cadillac CT6 3.0TT Platinum AWD weighs 4,385 pounds, not 3,657 pounds. The base RWD CT6 with the 2.0T I4 does start at 3,647 pounds with no options on the car. That's what you must have confused with the 3.0TT Platinum. Man, if this 404 HP CT6 3.0TT Platinum weighed only 3,657 pounds, it would really accelerate, handle, and brake much better than it already does. Anyway, I always loved your videos! I've been a subscriber for years. Keep up the good work! 👍 -Chris
good review.... caddy dealership half mile down the rd... which dictates car choose when luxury car needs maintenance care... I have a esv and as you drive performance 400 hp plus.. its hard to accept less hp
Greta review as always MM. If I had to choose between spending $90k+ on the CT6 or the Audi A7 . Short answer, NO. The CT6 is a fantastic FIRST effort, but it doesn't make the grade on interior ( note to Cadillac, mid grade plastics, have NO place in $90K luxury sedan) or engine. I concur on increasing the usable bottom end to 1500 - 2000 rpm.
I would think night vision is where it's at because they want you to be able to see the road when you're looking at the gauges. Just bought the Cadi, and it is supreme! Was comparing to a Gle but Cadi won hands down!!!!
Great review. I'd take a good hard look at the CT6 but for 90K I think I would go for the A8 or the next gen Lexus LS. Curious to see the packaging and what option you get in the CT6 for $65-70K. The low weight is very intriguing and I look forward to test driving. Currently driving a 2014 Audi S6.
All your android friends are using phones that are thicker and heavier because they have wireless charging. It adds thickness and weight which is specifically why Apple has been focusing on getting better battery life in their phones rather than adding wireless charging. The fact is that to use Apple CarPlay you have to plug the phone in to the car's USB port, which charges it by default so wireless charging is super not needed.
Well I will say One of my gripes when I drove is that you do have to pull read shades up manually...Cadillac knew where I was coming from it is absurd for this type of car.B it what is is giving you is a look at where the flagship is going,in addition there is a hybrid coming into play soon..with that being said it is a possibility they will address this issue.so far as a v8 no real news on this topic just yet.the sound system is something closely resembles [ in sound] ripped out of you home.It gives u clarity,a texture,so refined...it will resonate with you.it comes at you from all directions. Its a seemless transition from space to space.but again I myself did co,e back to the fact that my guests had to manually pull up there shades. However the picture I want to paint for you is one of a car company returning to its [pinnacle of Luxury] roots.i has and did listen to its bigger brother the oh so mighty escalade. So yes white the is a bit of additional fine tuning to be done.its far surpasses anything on the the road.BY it look, feel and touch.
Anyways this car looks absolutely amazing, if it were up to me it's either the Mercedes or the Cadillac just appearance wise this is by far top two best looking luxury cars. Looks far better then the 5 or 7 series or any Audi. Giving the e class a run for its money.
+JsBlazIN I would not say it looks better than an Audi S6 on S-line but it would easily equal the A6 cars in looks. Audi like Cadillac make the best understated cars on the market. The designs are clean and mature and not flashy.
I wonder what the drawbacks of constructing a chassis this way are. It's not like casting a large metal piece is cutting edge technology or a new idea. Pretty sure large cast pieces could be used by all the competitors, but they apparently chose not to. Why is that? I can imagine that there is no way of gettng a piece like this repaired, so you will have to replace it and to do that you'll probably have to take half the car apart. But I can't imagine that repair bills alone would be reason enough for other manufacturers to not build their cars in this way...
The best looking Cadillac right now. Nice that they found their root back to innovative technology like it was in old days. The interiuer looks nice classic. Actually i would like to buy from luxury cars the S Class with Maybach package. The intereur is so amazing and the Engine is a nice warp machine. The Cadillac is inside more classic like in an A8. For the price it would be the choice, but if price doesnt matter it would be the S-Class (even when the 7 series has the best tech).
Damn, those weight saving techniques blew me away. And to think, Cadillac, an American company, famous for the yank tanks, would be spearheading the lightest luxury cars on the market.
the one feature i guess is included for the higher HP models is AWD if i heard correctly. any large sedan i'd consider HAS to have that...i'm in ice and snow country. glad some bright bulb noticed a good part of their target market wants to run on the slippery side.
Atlanta Georgia: I'd go for another A8L for $90K. I would buy a CT6 if it had the 8 cylinder but I would not look at it with six. Don't care about turbos, I just wouldn't do it. I loved my 2005 A8L, it was a beast and super smooth. I still miss it, but my RS5 makes up for it!
I'm buying the CT6 because it's worth it. The engineering alone sets it apart not to mention the luxury. Finally G.M. is kicking ass world while.
Finally Cadillac its returning to their roots of making big and very luxurious cars!!
Cadillac nailed it with this car!
+rowdy 752 I disagree,I think they did a wonderful job with this car from the interior to exterior and today's V6 engines are so much better than the ones from 10-20 years ago they are more powerful and quieter. I think a bigger car is coming and it'll probably have a V8
+rowdy 752 4.2 V8 BiTurbo is commin soon :)
+Sedans!!!!!!SUV!!!! AUTOMOTIVE!!! We will see reason I'm saying this because i came across a 400hp lincoln mks I have a 09 Genesis v8 and I beat him in acceleration and handling performance and that has awd
+attcenter I hope the assembly and parts aren't cheap and flex.
+attcenter They're coming out with a TWIN TURBO 4.2 V8 version soon
+IceDree Interested to hear the details on what your US$71,000 CT6 is . . .
+MotoManTV I completely agree with IceDree.
I agree with you 100% I too would pick CT6.
It's a 3.6L 'Luxury' trim with:
• Stellar Black Metallic (or Moonstone Metallic, I like both).
👏🏻
Motoman you are the best! we can feel the professionalism and the passion, that got us really passionate about cars!
I'm from Romania and for 90 grand I would buy this Cadillac without a second thought.

We screen cargo for air flights in and out of Chicago.
+slabiciune Does that pay you well?

It's ok,but I am learning new things at every opportunity thrown at me.
The best thing about co is they match $ in 401K and they have offices all over the world.
Thanks so much for going into the interesting engineering details of this! Auto-journos drop the ball so hard on this sort of thing. It is appreciated - and the car looks to be quite the creation.
Love this car. Great job!
like i said on another CT6 review, its a crazy value, its the size of an s class with the price of a 5 series, but it weighs less than a 5 series all while keeping similar materiel usage in the cabin as well as exterior. some serious leaps forward from shit Cadillacs of 10 years ago.
+justin bouche
If Donald Trump becomes president and he enacts his trade policies what will happen is that US cars will get parity with Asian and European cars when it comes to import/export taxation.
This will make American cars even cheaper again and the quality will still stay there.
I think we are on the cusp of a resurgence in American cars. The Engineering is clearly there it now just needs the correct trade conditions.
It's not the size of an S-Class. It's the size of a SWB 7-Series and weighs less than any German saloon.
+steve jones
Oh god no where do I start.
+MrCarGuy20 Compared to the longer wheelbase yes. Otherwise it's the same size.
What color? Interior color?
Looking a dark/dark one.
i love your channel.
What about the the bose panaray sound system
One of the best review I have ever watched..
8:58 Such well-balanced coverage!
Great show as always. Very good car. As a previous owner of an LS400, to me this has the right 'feel' both interior and exterior while being thoroughly modern and updated. I like the 4wd solution too. Timing chains!
if I had the $$$ CT6 all day. It's a looker, a drivers car and an innovator. Love the growl of that v6 too.
I can’t wait until I can get my own Cadillac.. this is my baby right here
This car is my new favorite sedan. I must have it lol Hats off to my luxury car company Cadillac for showing the Foreign car makers how it is done
The CT6 is affordable than the German cars we've looked at.
quiet cabin?? rough road riding?? comfortable seat riding on highways??
This car is a winner. The advanced chassis is the perfect foundation for a luxury car that can still have fun in the corners.
Like I said before, if I was in a market for this kind of a vehicle I would buy it blindfolded. It is my pair of gloves. Ticks all of the boxes, at least for me, design, engineering, engine choices, technology and price tag. Got to love it.
So if the back wheels turn slight that means that higher chance of components going wrong or is build to make the care safer
I love you motoman you are awesome
Hey Motoman, I really like the relationship you have with the Caddy guys and the uniqueness it brings to your videos (of course you are unique in your own right). They really give good insight into why their cars have improved so much. I general I like the approach you take with your reviews.
+Lemuel Taylor Thanks! As I type this, trying to talk Bob Boniface to come out of the XT5 shoot . . .
+MotoManTV lol
Cant wait to drive it, did Volvo release weight figures of the S90 for comparison?
so where is xts? is this a production version of it?
Im a bit confused about the whole displacement tax thing.. I am living in japan and I drive an r32 GTR and despite the motor being a 2.6 L engine the fact that it is a twin turbo adds something like 1.4 L to the displacement and I still pay the higher engine tax because of that. So my question is this, what is the point of undercutting the engine to 2.95 L instead of a regular 3.0 if the twin turbos are going to knock it into the higher category regardless?
Cadillac CT6 or Lexus LS?? When are you gonna drive the Lexus LS motoman
so this replaces the XTS?
I have a question for you motoman. after years of bashing Lexus' touchpad, why is it not a problem in the Cadillac?
I'm looking into getting this car, not because of performance. I drive a lot! and need a new luxury car, comfort is the main thing I'm after, that and to be surrounded by up to date technology/safety. I really wish I could see more of what the car offers on that side. Also I have to admit it makes me feel good to buy American.
Does anyone know if the 3.0l is going to go in the Ats also?
This car is 60 lbs heavier than a 2015 335i and yet it is 22 inches longer. The Cadillac is bit more expensive, but there is a lot of overlap in the pricing at the top and bottom of the range. That is amazing!
Germans, eat your heart out.
I'm kinda of a MB fanboy, but this car is really something. If I was in a market for this kind of a vehicle I would buy it blindfolded...
+Chris Sorreda The S550, S63 AMG, S65 AMG, S600, and Mercedes Maybach are laughing at your comment. And that's just the Mercedes offerings.
+Curtis Heidel
You are an idiot
these cars cost an average of 200 000 dollars

Curtis Heidel You are such an imbecile,
comparing a 200 000$ car to a 70 000$
Lexus LS 460 and save a heck of a lot $$$$Cadillac at 90k?Can you say Depreciation ?
Cadillac are really getting their act together, almost up to European standards. Give it another 2 to 3 years of progress to be on par with their European rivals. Keep it up Cadillac.
Beautiful car. And that 3.0L engine is a work of art!
I cant stop staring at the interior, looks so good
Why not a small V-8 ???
Cadillac CT6, Lexus LS, Or The New Hyundai G90. Which would you choose?
i am a 35 yo guy and i live in saudi arabia and i would buy this CT6 in a heartbeat P.S i down 2014 Cadillac ATS 3.6 rwd
+bader abdullah nice car man, I've heard that you love american cars over there, is that true?
+ICECUBE682 i am a huge Cadillac fan i own 2014 ATS 3.6 RWD
+ICECUBE682 yes gm and and fca are very popular but Cadillac is not as popular as the Germans three but i hope this will change with this car
+bader abdullah your full of hypocrisy lol, why do u have che guevara pic? living in saudi arabia driving an american car? lol
+Purplefabian No man but I want to lead the revolution in Style 😁
This car looks great!! would love to see one on UK roads
What a beauty! Will it be sold in Europe?
I like it. Is the all wheel drive system, the same that was made by delphi, that was on the GM trucks a decade ago?
Why does he have to stand in the cut up display car?
QUESTION : Please choose, Fully loaded CT6 or fully loaded CTS-V ? We are already in the high 90's, so it doesn't really matter. Please let me know.
CTS-V for me. It's better than nearly any car in the world, and certainly top of its class... because it is its own class.
Love this car. This is American luxury. Beautiful design. Cadillac all day.
Sooo I would just like to debunk a few things about this car...I drove a 67000$ Ct6 yesterday and let just give u some9to chew on..sound system/stunning...the feel, the look, the sheer elegance of its saloon/mesmerizing it gives u this great confidence with an astute pleasure of space.moto-man u have a motor mouth..this car is the essence of what a true Americana is about in a..only a Cadillac:folks go drive feel let your sensations run wild here in America.
best reviews on the tube!
I have had this version for 6 months now and love it. My son has 911 turbo and BMW Z4 M and would like to take my CT6 on the track once.
Oh man. This is going to be sweet with that new V8 TT. Hell, the CT8 is going to be on S-Class levels of interior quality at this rate when it comes out (if not better). The expensive CT9 coupé has a chance to make Cadillac the most admired luxury brand.
Does the 4 wheel steer differ at all from Porsche's system?
+Hunter Koss Only in that there is some adjustment to the 4 wheel steer system when in Snow/Ice mode . . .
+MotoManTV Figured that was the case. Thanks for the reply!
When you hit the glove box open icon did yours slam open or did it have soft-opening?
soft opening..no cheap clunk
Shannon Bonet Thanks but unfortunately now it looks like I'm going to have to bring it in for repair because mine slams open at full speed :(
3657 lbs? How the hell
Aluminum and lasers.
A very sophisticated welding process
+maxjtj31 That's for the base turbo 4 cyl. The AWD V6 twin turbo that he was driving weighs 4300 lbs. Still a few hundred pounds lighter than similar competition.
+Todd Wilson It really picks up 650 lbs from an extra bank of cylinders and a drive shaft? Sounds oddly high. Where did you find this info
maxjtj31 Much more than that.
Would like more on inside and why no touch screen
The front end is very strong and beautiful, something I really like.
nice to see that cad is going this way... economy and big luxuries with the 4 wheel steering...nice!
PS- I love your work! you have the job of my dreams!
we own 2 caddies ats 2.0 xts twin turbo...id buy this one in a heartbeat..we ve had 12 caddies over the years and each one is better than the one before
Would definitely buy this car. Love Cadillac CT6
The german fanboys absolutely hate this car because it's everything their german cars aren't!
Dumbass nobody bought this shit and they discontinued it😅
Cheap ass interior
The European automotive press is not going to like this :-)
Motoman great review as always, though I'd have liked you to talk some more about the back seat. Since its a luxury car and all. Also I really, really like the new Genesis G90. I like what they're trying to do with both cars, bring upper crust luxury a bit closer to the middle class. Please do a review of that car when it comes available and compare the two.
Great information, but will like it better in 1080p.
Lmao...engine placement "as God intended".
+IceDree You are off your meds again . . . You know what to do . . . :)
In all seriousness, the Continental is not even in the galaxie (see what I did there:)) as this car.
I see what you did there :P
Ooh no, I'm perfectly fine & I'm on my meds :)
I was just curious, since you got to see both in person.

good review.... caddy dealership half mile down the rd... which dictates car choose when luxury car needs maintenance care...
Love it! That front in looks wicked. Looks like a great chassis!
I live in Germany but I would love to have the caddy. I see great German automobiles every day. I would love to show them some American greatness.
I'm 17 and I would like to show all my friends what's cadillac all about with the CTS V and the CT6 so yes I would buy this!
why no HD!!!!!!!!
+bcop1534 It takes time for youtube to process the video. You must be new here. Idiot.
+headcas620, No need to be rude and resort to name-calling. Condescending fucktard.

I would not say it looks better than an Audi S6 on S-line but it would easily equal the A6 cars in looks.
Audi like Cadillac make the best understated cars on the market. The designs are clean and mature and not flashy.
What about an Impala SS on this platform! rwd only.
Not a bad idea . . . Not a bad idea at all!
And to think, Cadillac, an American company, famous for the yank tanks, would be spearheading the lightest luxury cars on the market.
the one feature i guess is included for the higher HP models is AWD if i heard correctly.
any large sedan i'd consider HAS to have that...i'm in ice and snow country.
glad some bright bulb noticed a good part of their target market wants
to run on the slippery side.
