      When you have a washer, locking washer, and nut... You put the washer on first, then the locking washer, and then the nut. This way the nut is being held in place. You put the locking washer on first then the washer followed by the nut.

  • @Theyrun
    @Theyrun 3 роки тому +33

    14:25 lock washers are designed to cut into the bolt to keep it from loosening, the flat is used for equal pressure. so the correct sequence is lock washer against bolt head then the flat.

      They Run is absolutely correct Will, lock washer acts a a spring pushing in an upward motion to keep bolt head from backing out, it's under pressure at all times( the bolt) that is.

    Thanks for this! My TR160 came in a last week and I have been building it while watching you guys build it. It isn't hard, but it is confusing enough that having you there as a reference point and giving pointers in advance, like skipping steps 10-14 then going back, was a lifesaver. It's a good thing nothing was missing when they sent a UA-cam reviewer the TR160. When they shipped mine it came in 4 different shipments over several weeks, and even after getting all the packages their was hardware missing to put it all together. They did mention when I was messaging back and forth with them that they were in the process of changing a packing and distribution vendor, so it's possible that they were still working out some of the kinks with that new vendor. If you don't cancel your order and end up having any issues, then message them on Facebook and they will get back pretty quickly. Email was hit or miss. Enjoy!

    I just completed this project. First off, thanks for taking the time to post this tutorial. In my experience: the amount of factory debris within the boxes was unacceptable. I finally gave up on the wand vacuum (which was marring the extrusion) and took almost every piece into the shower where they were rinsed and allowed to dry prior to beginning assembled. That said, I am still happy with the TR160 build. The directions were not incomprehensible, I received all my parts and fasteners, and I was able to complete 98% of the project without an extra set of hands, including attaching a triple-screen. One BIG tip: buy some furniture sliders. The rig can be set atop the sliders so one person can easily slide the rig around as the build is progressing.

    • @tonynittoli4792
      @tonynittoli4792 2 роки тому

      Just received all my boxes and bags over the course of the last few days from different shipping sources. That in itself was chaotic considering my work schedule and someone being here. First I have to say the pedal plate is insane, it could stop a truck and the whole rig seems like it’s exactly what I was looking for. Now, the boxes were damaged and the box with the screws bolts washers ect were everywhere. Since you already have you I’m sure you can relate with the shock of how many there are. Not one was sealed. I had washers stuck in the creases of the cardboard and the bags that they were in were all shredded from delivery. The first day I have off I’m gonna tackle this thing. I really hope I’m not missing shit cause I know if I am it’s because of the incompetence in the shipping department. At first I was ok because covid really jacked companies up as far as being short staffed over the last couple. The more I researched though the more I found people complaining and having pictures to back it up. I think the product will be amazing when it’s assembled and exactly what I wanted. I just can’t believe a company who has a track record of atrocious shipping still hasn’t found a way to improve.

      @@tonynittoli4792 At 5'10" in socks, I set the vertical support at 61 cm from the front of the rig to the middle of the support. I say this because there are no recommendations on that distance, and it is a critical distance to get set early, especially if using the vertical supports for adding accessories. At that distance, with the seat sliders, the rig can accommodate 5'8" up to about 6'2" with just adjusting the seat. If your build includes "pedal option 4", then be aware the directions are inaccurately oriented. Regarding missing parts, I did not have any missing parts or fasteners, but I DID order extra fasteners anticipating there would be problems.

    It has had plenty of use since it arrived, my only complaint was with the GT style seat I could not get the angle I wanted but fixed that by grabbing an OMP mount.
    TR have fixed it by making and optional mount with greater adjustment if you want to upgrade.

    Just finished building one of these myself the other day. That thing fought us every single step of the way. Not only missing hardware left and right, but generally poor quality control and useless instructions (which you have to download from some dude's cloud storage). Said instructions contradict themselves in several places, and more than once did we have to go to UA-cam and look up other people's builds (which is pretty poor for a product that costs that much money). It seems well-engineered, but not very well executed. At minimum, they should hire one of these UA-camrs to write their instructions, and perhaps find some other manufacturing/packing facility.

    This is the rig I have. It took forever to get all the boxes but it seemed to be the fault of the shipping companies not Trak Racer. Now that I have it put together, I absolutely love it! My only complaint is that the screws were to short to use a flat washer and lock washer in most places.

    Having recently built myself a TR160 (used your affiliate link and discount code BTW!), I can honestly say it was pretty easy to put together and don’t understand why some people have difficulty - I’m not mechanically minded but used to love Technic Lego as a kid, perhaps that helps! Can recommend the newer seat brackets with more recline, definitely helps with comfort and allows further customisation with positioning.

    Just another ACE video mate. I've heard so many people say 80/20 is the way to go, but never quite understood it to make the plunge. Granted, my RSeat S1 was probably more expensive, but it came with pieces "ready to go" like this Trak Racer and I was VERY happy once it was assembled! ;)
    I found out a week or two ago that Sim Labs had released that "F1" style seat for sim rigs, but they aren't shipping to the US. Granted, there is nothing wrong with my RSeat S1 seat... so I may wait a while longer before making a new seat a priority. Trak Racer has a good selection of accessories for aluminum extrusion cockpits but their extrusion is a thinner version of Sim Labs. And Trak Racers customer support is absolute crap. I've had two email conversations with Matt himself and got nothing but excuses and finger pointing when I was trying to get a resolution to an issue with my order. Ultimately I had to threaten to the charges to get them to take any action in resolving it. At the end I pointed out that the customer support was horrible and taking care of customer issues leads to good word of mouth goes a long ways with repairing a bad reputation and I was just accused me of being a shill for Sim Labs.

    Just finished building my TR160 (Oct 2024). Nice rig, but they were lazy with the instructions which were annoyingly vague and occasionally just wrong. It arrived in SIXTEEN separate boxes and identifying what was in each one was only possible by reading cryptic letters and numbers printed on the box in a small font and finding that code somewhere in the body of the instruction pdf. None of the boxes included a packing list. In total there were about 15 small unmarked bags of hardware that left you guessing whether you needed them or not.

    I've been trying to think of ways for you to pretend to be a normal consumer and talk about real life scenarios of opening a support case as someone who purchased the product for home use, but I'm sure you'd need an order number of some sort to be able to open said support case. Either way, sim-racing cockpit companies like this are usually good about responding within their 24-48 hour period. The rig looks very nice. There's a company I backed on indiegogo called the Frenchie Co. And they made an all in one sim cockpit. I can't wait to try it out

    Good review. However my experience this past summer was not as good. I purchased the TR80 and since I'm new to sim racing and my first rig I found the assembly directions a joke. The pictures do not show or explain enough. I do not remember the packages being labeled for the steps and if they were there was no explaining that detail. Had no packing list for the order to match the part #'s on the boxes. Turned out I was missing my monitor stand but didn't know it until the rig was assembled. Trak Racer did take care of the problem and was quickly supplied a upgraded stand. Maybe my inexperience, but felt they could do better with details.

    Hello Will,
    great vid - thanks! One question remains unanswered. What is the weight of the rig itself. You mentioned the weight of the seat (mentioning that it is grucial to have low mass for motion rigs) but I guess the rig itself is more significant and I am not convinced that the TR160 is very good in that aspect. I may try to DIY a rig also in order to save weight.. also I cannot find any hint on the Trak Racer webpage regarding weight of rigs or items. I think this would be important and for me this is another point in being "professional" (or rather not...) which adds up to all the negative comemnts regarding customer service an sloppy deliveries etc. - unfortunately
    Keep up the good work and greetz from Germany!

    • @yrtracingteam106
      @yrtracingteam106 3 роки тому

      @BoostedMedia you said it just right, you are part of there pr and marketing team. So what is there to lose? I mean, i only would do that job when i m sure that i would stand for it.
      Your an ambassador.
      If fanatec is just as fair to there regular customers as to there youtubers with interest (from both sides thats is, imo Ytubers are there primary salesman) how can there be any problem?
      Or is it that you already know that fanatec will have the short end of the stick when it comes to quick and fair problem solving solutions?
      I mean, i own a room full with fanatec gear, like you. But i have only one of each. Only 1 DD1 which doesn,t work properly. it keeps disconnecting. Now thats great fun..when you slam others of track and youre all messed up on track because the base bricks again..with only one thing to do, and thats quit the sim and get the slightly friendly f-offs of other racers. The periods it will brick becomes shorter, and to wait for it to reset so you can race again for aprox 30 minutes can be 3-4 hours. Problably fanatec thinks; ow..another wining customer that you cant please, so we are fine..because winers will always be there. And lets be fair, its only a DD1? That is ONLY 1800 EURO'S! Pls dont cry for such a small amount of money.. In this case i only mailed them and briefly explained the problem, and yes im still waiting for a reply
      .
      Maybe fanatec wil listen to you-(tubers) or at least wake-up a bit when some one like you rings the bel. I do get it you have deals, and why it works for you. But youtubers ARE the PR guys these these days. Those are the guys whom sells there products and if those guys (in general Will) cant or wont stand there ground because of those gifts and money (well earned i say. Ive got zero problems with that) ) but it will leave the public nowhere. As you are aware there are many ..many people with gear problems. We sit and wait like like skool boys and who is gonne help us..? And pls don't let them hide behind a covid wall, there service was always terrible slow and filled with laxity.
      I want to race..!.. and thats the reason why i spend only 1800 euro's on a base. Only a few months ago.
      Wake-up fanatec!..because i still cant enjoy the races. I had a simgrid race scheduled for 20.00 Suzuka ACC.
      Instead im scheduled for a mailbox-staredown and continue my fanatec waiting games.!
      Thanks for your attention Will and channel (ab)use. I had to try and ask you.
      Hopefully im not to harsh on you because it isnt personal and i hope you understand. im just slightly pssd at fanatec. Your vids are the reasons im here.
      I hope you enjoy your new 4k rig..
      Ofcourse no problem when you deleted this reply when it doesnt fit the channel.
      ✌🏼
      Mvg.

    Seems Trak Racer are not good at sending all the parts you need. I didnt get this model but the TR8 and they didnt send a bunch of bolts/washers etc and the car seat mount and are being very slow in resending them. Going on the below it seems like they have not improved over the months so would stay clear of them to be honest or expect a few weeks delay before you can use your seat once you get the main parts delivered. 1/10 for Trak Racer from me.

    Got this rig but received a lot of missing parts. Mainly bolts & nuts, with all the handles for the pedals, track racer logo panel missing. Been 10 days & stuck with bunch of useless bits sitting on the floor. Contacted Trak Racer & Demon Tweeks. I've given the photos they've asked & they're "check the weight of the parcels and see if its a factory mistake or courier issue". Looks they haven't resolving their packing issues. They can't bloody add. For the level of money they asks it's unacceptable. Even in the online manual they can't add. States you need 8x of M8*20 bolts. In one step alone you need 16!
