I’d love to hear what you thought of this recipe video, was it helpful, enjoyable, easy to follow?
Do you like this new shorter material / colour based video style?

Short and to the point - the best way. Maybe try recording a tutorial of a larger mini and break it into short videos.
Any news on the full death guard tutorial?
Love the content. Keep it up!
I prefer the longer content because I just like learning more steps and seeing more recipes, another is seeing what other paint’s besides GW. Being able to see other ranges such as the dark star and the scale 75 makes me want to try those brands for myself.
I want to say this. Your style of painting and your guides on how to thin the paints and get smooth layers made my painting 1000% better and more fun.
Thank you so much for all of the videos that you have put out, and I hope to see more of them soon!!!!!
Thank you 🙏
This has made my week. 🙂
Really appreciate you taking the time to comment and I’m so glad you’re enjoying the channel
Would love to see you painting the entire Mortarion. I love the smoothness and finish of your work. Plus elegant and professional finish of edges and highlights is a thing of beauty.
I second this
This was an interesting technique James. The end result looks very nice. I'll look for the other video about the back pack.
I have some deathguard and all these colours. Joy!!
Thank you so much, can’t wait to try this.
I'm excited to see the full video for your Death Guard I'm wanting to pick up a combat patrol soon and well as my second attempt at painting with new tricks from your lovely channel I would love to try and take a crack at how you paint yours! Love your vids I've learned a lot from the tips keep being awesome!!
Looks awesome 😊 thanks for all the work you put into this😊😊
You are making such good videos! I always enjoy them :)
Hey mate. really enjoying these videos. The shorter form works great. thumbs up!
Awesome stuff!! Thank you for this
No problem
There will also be a full Death Guard tutorial video coming soon to show how I paint all the other details for Death Guard, so stay tuned :)
Phenomenal. Thank you!
Thank you 🙏
Thanks for this nurgle green paint method. It's easy to follow and short tutorial is a suitable format 👍
Very nice. I'm most looking forward to how you do your steel and copper on this.
Quick, simple and to the point like always! Great video, one question though, is it worth using two highlight colours ike some evy'metal style do?
Agrax Earthshade. It really just is the must have tool to make something look dirty and grimy. Love the streaking effects too. Those would look amazing on something a bit more like the Heresy era scheme for the Death Guard.
I wonder if you could also make a video on how to paint vibrantly? I will paint along if you do!
The quick answer is use a light primer (white or pale grey)
The longer answer, is it’s all about underpainting, but you’re right, that’s a topic for a video. So, I’ll see what I can do 👍
Need that full DG so we can paint that glorious copper colour!!
I prefer to use 2 shades for DG armour: Athonian Camoshade as “tinting” (like contrast - one thin coat) and Agrax for recesses
Interesting. Was surprised you didn't use elysian green/GWDG recipe midtone/ at all.
But it makes sense. It would be harder to maintain the grimness/dirt adding saturated green.
Would like to see your Alpha Legion classic paint (no metallic/contrast) recipe interpretation -> more like brilliant blue (as GW calls it).
Model... 40K Primaris Inflitrator ? :)
Appreciate the focus of this video was on the green armour, but I'm curious what paints you used in the scheme for the metallics and verdigris?
Full video for the whole Death Guard scheme is in progress and is coming soon.
@@BrushstrokePaintingGuides looking forward to it. Nice idea to have both the short colour scheme guides but also a longer contextualised example.
Question sir how did you apply that secure pin in the back so you don’t have to hold the model to paint it ?
That’s a great question.
The answer is in this video, go to the chapter called “painting handles” and it’ll show you everything

@@BrushstrokePaintingGuides thank you very much that deserves a like and a follow at least.
@@darkzentai7417 thanks very much, appreciate it.

Did you encounter any trouble with thinning Death Guard Green? I tried painting with it for the first time today, and somehow the paint always seems to be too thin or thick.
At the same thickness where Mephiston Red would cover smoothly in 2 coats, Death Guard green would leave a patchy, streaky mess even after 3-4 coats. I ended up having to do 6-7 coats for complete coverage, and by then the surface was pretty bumpy and some of the details were starting to get clogged up.
And after doing an all over wash, layering back up with DGG was the same painful process. Not sure if I just got a bad pot or something, but I'm also seeing many other people have the same experience with this colour in forums, so I'm pretty surprised you got perfect coverage in just 2 thin coats.
I didn’t find it bad at all to be honest.
I wouldn’t say it’s the best covering paint in the world but 2-3 coats would get me a solid finish.
I have a longer Death Guard video which has more footage of the consistency I thinned mine too, if that helps?

Whata blue in the final photo?
Oh, full recipes for the other colours are in the full Death Guard video

More Death Guard please. Death Shroud.
Ooo Death Shroud are cool
@@BrushstrokePaintingGuides
Im trying to get some Death Shroud on the table. I could send a unit your way if you have time.
@@BrushstrokePaintingGuides
We would all love to see the magic happen.
I'm with Ninjon on this, no matter what I do I cannot get the paint the same, sticking to the airbrush.
The same how mate?
To be fair, if you have an airbrush then yeah, take full advantage 👍
This recipe still works great with an airbrush. Quicker too.
I like to show that crisp clean smooth paint is very much possible without though 😉
@@BrushstrokePaintingGuides I commented on the wrong video but sentiment the same. He said he admires your videos but he cannot get anywhere near the same finish. I am nowhere near as talented as him so I have no chance either lol.
Nothing to do with the quality of your instructions, I simply can't do it.
Your videos inspired me to paint my marines as Salamanders, just frustrating I cannot get them anywhere near the same, I think this is why a lot of people give up because they'll compare to quality work like you produce.
Even when my paint is thin, I apply a few costs and some bits are thicker than others and just generally terrible. Only way I can make a model half decent is spray the base and just add details on that. It's ok, we all have to accept our limits.
@@gc9522 hey man, thanks for commenting, doesn’t matter if it’s the video you meant or not, I appreciate the feedback.
I’m terms of achieving a finish you’re happy with, I’m a firm believer of using whatever method works best for you.
I’m genuinely over the moon my painting inspired you, and sorry the results weren’t as you had hoped. What’s important though is you found another way and still enjoy painting.
Sorry, but I have to ask… did Ninjon actually refer to my videos specifically or was he just talking generally about smooth hand brushing?
It's all good, I still got the recipe out of it, regardless how I need to apply it :) I need to find the video so I can give you the correct answer, I am looking at my history now to try work out which one it was. Thanks again
@@BrushstrokePaintingGuides
@@gc9522 nice one.
Would be awesome to have been mentioned in a Ninjon vid, even if it was him saying I should just use an airbrush 🤣
If you find the link, I’d appreciate it
Thanks for checking out my channel though man. 👍
smart way to get thin streaks
