A lot of the information we hear about COVID-19 surrounds how the virus impacts your lungs or how the pandemic has ravaged society due to quarantine. But what about your brain? Might coronavirus have an effect there, too? Come along with Alie Astrocyte to learn about which symptoms might be indicative of the neurological effects of COVID.

Quick note: This video was filmed on April 26th and used the best information we had at that time about COVID-19. This is a fast-developing virus, so there's a good chance that more information will come out about how this coronavirus works in the body.
As for bread, here's a real good naturally-leavened sourdough recipe:
- Combine 1 cup sourdough starter, 2.5 cups all-purpose flour, 1/2 cup whole wheat flour, and 1 cup water. Don't worry about working it too much, just get everything mixed together.
- Cover and wait for 20 min.
- Add 1 1/4 teaspoon of salt and knead until dough surface becomes smooth.
- Cover dough and wait 1 hour.
- On a floured surface, fold the dough like an envelope, using a scraper if needed.
- Cover dough and wait 1.5 hours.
- Gently turn dough onto floured surface again and shape the loaf into a tight ball.
- Place the dough seam-side up in a floured bowl. I have a little proofing basket that I put mine in that gives it a nice pattern.
- Cover and wait 2 hours. Or, if you prefer, you can put the bread in the fridge at this point to bake the next morning.
- Pre-heat your oven at 450 degrees for at least an hour with whatever you're gonna put your bread on. I prefer a dutch oven.
- After heating, gently tip your dough onto parchment paper (seam-side down) and slash the top.
- Gently put your dough into the hot dutch oven, put the lid on, put it in the oven, and bake it for about 25 minutes.
- Take the lid of the dutch oven off and continue to bake for 10-15 minutes.
- Remove from oven and let it cool on a rack.
Voila! You've got a naturally-leavened sourdough loaf! Enjoy!
This was a fantastically well produced video, but that recipe can only work in the San Francisco Bay Area. Don't go teasing the rest of the world! The local yeasts will always ruin any sourdough starter. I miss only two things from growing up in San Jose; the comfort of being surrounded by mountains in the valley, and sourdough.
You are neuro scientific, and eat cheetos? that is strange... in spain have monosodium glutamate.
@Freedom Speculum My cousin just had a stroke cause by Covid. Saying it's a "plandemic scamdemic" is disrespectful to the ones who have suffered and died because of all this.
Thank you for the video. I know I'm four months late, but since I have Guillain-Barré syndrome (Miller-Fisher variant) I am still chilling in quarantine.
And I buy my bread from a local bakery. If I baked it at home I feel like it'd be filled with cat hair. v_v

Wondering if you have an update on any findings? I’m definitely experiencing insomnia post covid. I experienced this virus much more in my head than chest. Thanks 🙏
The way our immune system responds to coronavirus is VERY taxing for our zinc supplies. Which is where the memory loss, smell loss, comes.

If you think that covid19 is interesting you're very fcked Up!
Amazingly clear and up to date ... at this time (January 2021) a lot of the information here does not seem to have become widespread!
Any situation that causes a lack of blood to the brain can cause issues, including headaches and comas, and symptoms similar to Parkinson's Disease or Meningitis. Not just Coronaviruses.
Thanks for the video , stay safe!
This is soo awesome I’m currently recovering from covid. I leave my house to work, gas and grocery. With a mask but I did take my mask off in my car and had been touching my face. During my covid recovery I noticed I had a little bit of a difficulty walking. I had to think about my muscles. Also emotions really make me feel more sick like actual pain. And I’ve had a hard time sleeping even though I am soo sleepy.
How did you get yourself to sleep?
Me too , there is something going on with sleep and it’s not stress aka from having covid, lockdowns etc.
I love the way you explain. You're awesome. And the bread is great too

I like that they're calling out for more symptomatic post recovery awareness of Anxiety. Depression and Insomnia. But all those issues are co-morbid with one another.
To me it logically sounds like more often then not, these issues stem from the sheer psychological ''damage''/pressure intense hospital treatment, as well as getting such a scary disease, along with all the lockdown measures and how it feels for many like the entire world was flipped upside down. That they stem from these factors primarily. Although I am very curious to see what kind of neurological damage covid-19 can cause and its locational accessibility.
If only we had more time to do post recovery mris to find potential brain damage
Researchers at the University of Toronto are doing post covid MRIs of the brain. I’ve registered with them.
@@deborahbarry8458 Epic. I hope they intelligently account for sociological factors in determining change. Im curious to see what comes out of it

Thank you so much for this video! Is there an update?
Preheat the oven to 160°C (320° F) set to fan.
Beat the water, sugar, and yeast in a mixer, using the whisk attachment until the sugar completely dissolves. If you have enough time, you can wait 10-20 minutes for the yeast to activate. (You will know it has activated when small bubbles rise to the surface.)
Add the butter, egg, salt, and flour. Beat with the hook attachment for 8-10 minutes, until the dough comes together and completely pulls away from the sides of the bowl.
Dust your hands and your working surface with flour.
Remove the dough from the mixer, cut it into small pieces - about 30 cm - and shape them into small balls about 2 cm in diameter.
Prepare the mixture for the coating.
Combine the sugar and cinnamon in one bowl and place the melted butter in another.
First, coat the balls of dough in the melted butter and then coat them in the sugar-cinnamon mixture.
Arrange the coated balls of dough in a 28 cm nonstick Bundt pan. You want the balls of dough to stick together while baking. If you don’t have a nonstick pan, grease it with some butter.
Set aside for about 1 ½ hours, until it doubles in size.
Bake for 30-40 minutes, until golden.
When ready, remove from the oven and set aside for 10 minutes to cool before turning it out.
For the chocolate ganache
Chop the chocolate couverture into small pieces and set aside in a bowl.
Heat the heavy cream in a saucepan. As soon as it starts to boil, pour it over the chocolate immediately.
Stir until the chocolate melts, is incorporated and becomes shiny.
To serve
Break off a piece of monkey bread, dip it into the chocolate ganache, and enjoy!

Hello, this is completely out of subject but I'm curious to know. After you finish your dessertation paper and it's all completed and passed, what do they do with your paper? Is it used for research purposes by others or are your papers thrown away? Thanks, love your videos.
I am glad you asked. Dissertations from 4-8 years of hard work, stress, and an incessant daily grind are certainly not thrown away. They are not as often cited in references by others who are writing, but they contain some new information that was not previously known in whichever field of research the PhD candidates who wrote them were studying. The Irish have a standard Soda Bread recipe which is everywhere in Ireland - and it's delicious. A fantastic accompaniment to chowder, which is also usually the best choice on the menu in a Pub in Ireland (as opposed to an "Irish Pub" :-).
I freaking love soda bread. Don't make it that often, but dang it's tasty with a pat of butter.

Don't have a bread recipe, but Germans take a lot of pride into bread. I didn't get it until I ate bread somewhere else. The only thing that connects me to the country I am from is my shared love for good bread.
on a trip to Germany, one of the German people who was our host kept raving about how fresh or soft certain breads and rolls were. They were very hard. She choked on one and needed the heimlich maneuver. I couldn't wait to get home and have real actually fresh bread. The german "fresh, or soft" rolls and breads felt like week old rocks to me.

Have I had it all this time and the experts just don't know it can stay in a host fighting the immune system.
I never even had flu or throat probs before this

If I have the virus. How do help my body get rid of it? I tested negative. But I believe I have it. I already passed the coughing and all that. But I think it’s effecting my cns has a weird zone out feel a cpl times
What if a person already has seizures? Would the medication they already take help in this situation if they got the virus? I don't think the medication has anything to do with inflammation though.
2nd question: What is underneath the stairs where your cat is hanging out? Besides the lights. A little storage space? Or is that where the catbox is?
If a person is already taking anti-seizure medication, I suppose it might help prevent further seizures - but then again, a pre-existing seizure disorder could exacerbate the risks of those symptoms in COVID-19. The under-stairs area is a weird quirk of our apartment...just a storage area where we keep our board games!
I had a seizure but my covid test came negative.
The doctor suggested a CSV test but my health kinda improved by the time it came to do that test.

Fabio Dela Antonio Recipe?
@@mckarrie1 Well, to be fair it is kinda hard to make this absolutely delicious little bread if you live outside South America - it is made with sour cassava flour (I've seen it also called "tapioca starch").
In any case, this is my grandma's recipe for the original pão de queijo de Minas Gerais, Brasil.
*Ingredients*
250ml whole milk
25ml corn oil (or canola, soya, sunflower...)
50ml water
1 teaspoon salt
1 large egg
250g sour cassava flour (or tapioca starch)
250g ground Canastra cheese (you can use a mixture of 50g Parmesan + 100g Mozzarella + 100g Gouda to get a similar flavour)
*How to put it together*
1. In a pan, add the water, milk and oil and put it over the fire until the mixture begins to boil.
2. In a separate bowl, add the cassava flour and the salt.
3. Transfer the boiling liquids from the pan to the bowl with the cassava flour and salt, and mix it.
4. Wait until the mixture cools a bit, and then add the egg and the ground cheese.
5. Mix the dough with your hands (this step can take a while, be patient and persist), until it becomes uniform and less sticky.
6. Put the dough in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
7. Remove the dough from the refrigerator. Grease your hands with butter, and make dumplings with bits of dough. I usually make them with a 5cm diameter.
8. Put the dumplings on a pan with a baking sheet, and take them to the oven (pre-heated, 180⁰C) for 30-40 minutes, or until they get a golden color.
