shogun 2 was extremely shallow compared to the game that started it all. every single providence had its own map. daylight was measured and when it came time to fight last faction the battle you would fight for literally DAYS(10-15 matches) as your massive armies ground each other down. most of the time at a chokepoint. at least if you were smart. im talking about shogun total war.

What a modern way of thinking. Death in battle is glorious! Not Modern Battle of course. I could be easily killed by a child from a kilometer away with modern warfare. It went from being something honorable, and a test of skill, to something that literally anybody could partake in. So sad.

The general is Takeda Shingen, whose only son died after him. The red samural could have been his brother, Takeda Nobushige, who died in the fourth battle of Kawanakajima against Uesugi clan. This is more fitting since Uesugi were specialised in warrior monks.
The flags on the castle is too small and blurry, how can you so sure it is Oda or Ikko Ikki? And the place that is stabbed by Shingen's knife is North Shinanno (North East of Takeda), where Takada and Uesagi alway fighting over it. My biggest question is how on earth did the Warrior monk die? He's wearing full armor, contrary to popular misconceptions from movies...YOU CAN'T CUT THROUGH ARMOR, with any sword. A sword, especially a katana which is relatively specialized for cutting, is not a good weapon for that but if you were going to do it you would aim for face, neck, armpits, behind the legs etc. You wouldn't be trying to cut like in an unarmored fight because unless you hit exposed skin it would do less than nothing. My only guess is that the red samurai hit the monk underneath the curiass where it connects to the thigh armor around the sash area. That being said though, good choreography tho.
The armor plates themselves aren't very thick and they're segmented and stitched onto an underlay of leather with thread and small colored cloth/dyed leather strips, they're not whole metal armor pieces like European-style armor. A well placed thrust to a gap, like you suggested, or an arrow between segments can push it's way through armor pieces with sufficient force and angle. It was uncharacteristic and considered dishonorable to attack someone from behind, unless your opponent is aware of you being there. Much of the armor of that period was designed with status and adornment in-mind, so armor covering the neck and nape is minimal and highly stylized.
@@Whazzupie along side that, the samurai were trained to be skilled the katana in cutting at spots where the armor is weak or openings as they also use body movement to help with the slash.

its funny because in the game if you couldnt burn the gates down during a siege you most likely send your men rock climbing the walls without a ladder 😂😂
@@ecayeta It was difficult even historically, because if your men did manage to make it into an enemy stronghold, they would have to navigate their way through a labyrinth of outer walls and paths just to reach the tenshu (main keep). Japanese castles were cleverly designed to deceive and confuse the enemy. The clan leaders who had firearms and gunpowder (such as Oda Nobunaga) probably had a far better chance of breaching fortifications as they could just chip away at the walls with cannon fire til an opening was available to break through or just blow down the main gates. Either would have probably been done but the latter seems the most likely and easiest to do.

Long Wang taiwan was under Japan since 1985~1945,because of First Sino-Japanese War,I am a Taiwanese ,sorry for my bad English
In ww2, why they didn't wore their samurai armor?..
SHOCKSREAMGUS 101 sorry but I wanted to get revenge :)
2:17 - 死の俳句 : 旅をまで、もみじがすまれ、いかけ石。
Daimyo: Ah, there it is, ripe for the taking.
Soldier: It looks difficult, there's no way we could possibly breach the walls of this castle.
Daimyo: Are you questioning my methods?!
Soldier: No, tono.
Daimyo: Good. Let the siege commence.
its funny because in the game if you couldnt burn the gates down during a siege you most likely send your men rock climbing the walls without a ladder 😂😂
@@ecayeta You're most likely to rack up the wins by playing as the Oda clan, they get a bad rap but were probably the mightiest of all the power families of Feudal Japan until their untimely demise at Honno-Ji.
@@sethguest781 Yeah, after playing the Fall of the Samurai DLC I can conclude that gunpowder and artillery make sieges so much easier. Just a few cannons on your side and you can blow away the gates, walls, and defenders at the same time before your men even reach the walls
Ghost of Tsushima vibes. Maybe CA and Suckerpunch can get together and make their own 'Mount and Blade' type game set in Japan.
One day we'll have these graphics
We have them, check out kingdom come deliverance
Vedad Traljo in total war dude
I see these graphics in shogun 2. You just need to max out the settings and pick a map with the right lighting.
What? Those graphics are from 2009, we have graphics like that in gameplay
*Ghost of Tsushima strolls on in*
Near 2020 still the best total war game
best trailer and best game at the same time ? hell yes
shooting a man at the back? SHAMFUR DISPURAY
That's interesting thing that you train something like 25 years to become a warrior and die in 31 second in duel
So that's how genji died
Sounds like the narrator in overwatch in Genji's and Hanzo's story
Also the guy with the mask has a nice mustache
No. Unlike this one, the narrator for the Blizzard cinematic "Dragons" is the same voice actor of Shang Tsung from Mortal Kombat.
Name's Shingen Takeda.
1:01
my age of empires 2 japanese senses are tingeling
The Zone no, this isn't age of empires. The Japanese would need to be fighting war elephant s and Viking warriors backed up by crossbowmen for it to be AoE.
Still a belter of an intro.
Awesome trailer!
But how did the Samurai even cut through the Monk Warrior's plate armor ?
Thats just a artistic license they took, but yeah, he could've had hit the monk on the head or in the neck, but they wanted him to talk or have his face cleaned from injuries, or something like that... Anyway, thats a bit overused thing in movies and games, were armor doesnt exist appearantly
Late comment,
It is not plate armor, just a few iron plates sewed together to resemble armor so naturally it has gaps. Also, people with good sword skill is known to cut through an iron helmet in half in a single strike
"Toshishiro Obata holds the record for Kabuto Wari (兜割), or helmet cutting, for his cut on a steel Kabuto (兜; helmet)"
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tameshigiri
the swan song of once great franchise
it should be oda nobunage instead of Shingen leading an assault against a buddhist stronghold, but I guess the Tekeda red does look pretty damn good.
"Lady Mariko will leave now!"
Such precision in their moves
旅も終わって紅葉に染まる御影石

Archers really don't give, revenge just been made.
Just wondering... why is that "general" samurai holding that fan? Im not too educated about samurai.
To give signals, just like a flag.
Foc4ccin4 Alright, thanks.
MrEtmer
That fan is a symbol of power to his seat, also a way to communicate formation attacks.
It's a Fan o' War, makes enemies take minicrits, but deal 90% less damage, and 20% less attack speed
its called a gunbai
2:39 Yare Yare Daze
2:43 Nani ? Masaka ?
2:45 KISAMADA?!!!!
Anime, Hollywood need short but decisive sword fight like this instead of 10 min fight with cable and mountain cutting skills.
One man gave several or more men Lands, great armies, and great power, and said go forth and do my bidding.
