I feel your grief, Lord Masamune, the pain of losing an eye cannot compare to the total loss of everything one holds dear, rest in peace, great warrior. You can also bet the kaishaku was struggling to hold back tears in his eyes given how he had to kill such an exceptional man like Date the moment he felt extreme pain.

The Takeda defeat cutscene should've been a shout-out to the real-life Battle of Nagashino, the site of Takeda's famous defeat against the Oda clan where its mighty cavalry fell to the Oda's matchlock gunners. After that, the Takeda clan ceased to be a major power for the rest of the Sengoku period.
I need to add that one clan they omitted was the Toyotomi, he wasn't of noble birth but Toyotomi Hideyoshi was a hardy and determined warrior and did achieve as much as his foes so he should have received mention here.

Everyone else whines about their own defeat. Oda clan commends their subordinates, even in defeat, and fears for their well being. One of these clearly deserved to guide Japan's future.
AzureSkyCiel to be fair Oda Nobunaga did historically guide japans history as the first great unifier of Japan and only failed to unite the entire nation out of betrayal by another Daimyo.

Unfortunately he is portrayed in media as a villain in his actions against the Ikko Ikki sect who were basically Japan's version of ISIS, an extremest sect of an otherwise peaceful religion. Ironically most Japanese still adhere to the Ikko sect of Buddhism to this day so obviously Nobunaga failed in destroying them.

@@Briselance Likely because there were so many enemies before them they couldn't even see the bows being notched until it was too late. It's also possible they don't charge out if they're the personal bodyguard of the daimyo. They often would stand their ground so they could catch any arrows or shot fired at their lord.
I’m imagining a scenario where the Mongols successfully invaded while simultaneously turning the Japanese clans against one another. Otomo was the only one to escape, while the Emishi stay isolated in the North.
Why I still sense laziness in these cutscenes Ik they at least upgraded the defeat scenes from worthless formed flag to some animations but these still suck

It’s his granddad who leads the Date, Masamune was born two decades after the start date so he doesn’t exist in the game

AzureSkyCiel To be fair. Nobunaga was more infamous for being the type to kill opposition. Tokugawa typically preferred other techniques.

Then in fact archers are the weakest unit against the Takeda cavalry.
I think it’s almost demonstration of how no matter how valiant and skilled the soldiers are, a volley of arrows will kill you the same way.
