Started having symptoms at 38 and had no clue about perimenopause! Finally got on HRT at 46 and will never look back! We need more people talking about perimenopause/menopause!
Could you tell me some of your symptoms. I am 39 and my cycles in the last 6 months has been soo out of wack. It has been coming at least a week earlier each time. Very heavy flows. the last one I actually had to o throw a pair of pants away it was so heavy. I replace my tampon and 30 minutes later I totally blew threw it. Terrible mood swings. Please I would love your input.
@@lindsaystoican2427 Yes that happened to me too. It got much better when I raised my vitamin D, iron and started taking BHRT. It still happens sometimes though in the Winter when vitamin D from the sun is low. To raise iron I used 3 Arrows Heme Iron supplements. To raise D in the winter I use a Vitamin D light, MaxAbsorb D cream and supplements. Use a Diva Cup and it's easier than tampons, and much cheaper. I used those disposable discs and they weren't enough so I got a bad opinion of cups but I shouldn't have. I ended up trying the Diva Cup because I found one on sale, and I wished I had used it the whole time. No going through boxes of tampons. For nighttime, I use period underwear with pads in them because I don't want to sleep with the cup. I was sleeping on towels and having to wash them all the time, and that was a pain, plus I would bleed through the towels and stain the mattress and have to bleach it a lot. The period underwear plus pads in it stopped all the towel washing and mattress bleaching. The middle of Winter is the worst for me, and in the summer the heavy bleeding goes completely away now.
I had both fallopian tubes removed in my early 30's. I am 41 and have had zero sex drive for like five years. I ended up divorced. This stuff can ruin relationships and intimacy. My PCP was no help. I went to a new Gyno doc and she talked to me about estrogen. Come to find out that having the fallopian tubes out can cause early perimenopause! I just picked up my script today. I'll try to keep you all posted.
That’s nonsense about the fallopian tubes! You’re obviously low in whatever because you’re not eating the foods your body needs. Supplement whatever way you want to, or that works.. but know your ovaries are still working ! And if they aren’t then it was your diet that got you to where you are today.
@@Rebecca-ys3cbalthough it can be potentially helpful for you to share YOUR OWN experiences, it is NEVER helpful to contradict a complete stranger whom you know nothing about and to tell them that the conclusions they have come to about THEIR OWN health are basically b.s. It’s completely off-putting to say the very least, and it’s never helpful to tell someone that you know more about THEIR health and THEIR bodies than THEY know. Please take this advice to heart, because if you are posting comments like this online, you are likely alienating people in your personal life as well. Best wishes.
Just started BHRT earlier this month and already notice a difference. I went 2 years trying to figure out what was wrong with me with zero help from my PCP. I refuse to accept that we just need to “suck it up” and deal with the debilitating symptoms of perimenopause. It’s ridiculous and can end relationships. Thank you for posting this video and showing us that help is available.
@@CoffeeLoverRx yea my pcp was 0 help actually wouldn’t even discuss hrt would say well remind me next time…I’m like but I’m suffering now and been post menopausal since 43 .. I had to go through a telehealth service for women needing hrt .. called gennev the dr was so knowledgeable and helpful explained everything and all the details.. I was grateful
Important topic. Thank You!!!! HRT was given a bad reputation by the very flawed WHO study in the nineties. Most MDs were also swayed negatively by it. HRT, especially when started BEFORE or EARLY menopause, has huge health benefits including protection for cardiac events, dementia, and bone loss. Bone loss in the face contributes to aging…the scaffolding of the face is weakened. Vit K 2 in supplement form, 100mcg daily, with Vit D, combats calcium loss. Testosterone replacement is still under prescribed. It is incredibly beneficial for bone health. Testosterone in pellet form is increasingly used to combat osteoporosis & osteopenia. Pharmaceutical companies are fighting against FDA approval for pellets bc they fear the loss of revenue for drugs like Prolia (which come with many side effects & safety concerns) Testosterone pellets are also being used for chronic pain relief, as it is an effective anti-inflammatory. One big benefit of pellet use is the steady state release & bypassing metabolism in the liver. I’m an ICU/Trauma RN at a large teaching/research hospital. HRT, specifically bio-identical sub-cutaneous pellet insertion is extremely safe. MDs in private practice have little experience with it and are generally too busy to educate themselves. And the aforementioned FDA approval status is seen as a negative. The FDA has become politicized & like everything else, swayed by big business. They don’t necessarily have our best interests at heart.
It was so strange to me as a back office nurse. Literally one day I was in with the dr as he was doing a Pap smear on a patient while they were discussing HRT. He proceeded to tell her that it’s not recommended due to this study as it increased the risk of cancers. I swear the day before he was saying how estrogen keeps you young and protects you from heart disease. I was like WTH? That was the end of him prescribing HRT. Just like that!
the problem with pellets are they are compounded and therefore not regulated. My OBGYN also inserts them and did to me a while back. The other things is women end up with extremely high levels, especially with testosterone, with pellets. I ended up switching to oral and now I'm going to try transdermal. When I made the switch to oral I was getting them compounded. 3 mg Estradiol - my levels were 37. After a discussion with my GYN we put me to 6mg but also switched to noncompounded presription. My level went to 127! (I've had a total hysterectomy btw). Makes me wonder what I was really taking in those 3mg compounded capsules.
Kathleen, maybe you need to start your own UA-cam channel, we can learn from what you know. I know a little bit, but can always learn more new things. HRT, the biologically compatible form, is really only prescribed by wholistic functional medical doctors, and gynecologists. And someone in whom you can trust and who knows what they're doing. Blood lab tests for reproductive hormones and Neuro endochrine hormones are grossly inaccurate. Saliva testing or urine testing at strategic times of the month is alot more accurate and informative.
So glad you said something about this, Kathleen! The WHI study was run so poorly: They used synthetic hormones, which don't behave like bioidentical hormones we now have. Synthetic progestin particularly is to blame for increased breast cancer risk- more so than estradiol. The average age of the women in the study was 63, not 50 when most women go through menopause. So these women literally had no hormones for 10 years (maybe even more), and then synthetic hormones were given to them. The body doesn't recognize what it hasn't had in 10 years, so your risks will outweigh the benefits at that point (especially since bone density has lots of time to go down in 10 years!). The women weren't screened for any pre-existing health conditions. Obesity. Insulin resistance. Diabetes. Heart disease. All of these things predispose anyone to problems when you introduce hormones. OF COURSE cancer rates were going to go up, and they did, but even then, 1 in 1000. You can bet that men would walk out of their doctors' offices with RX's for testosterone- it's the first thing our doctor tested my husband for, and we're both 50. Sheesh!
Hi, Barbie Taylor says in her videos to take the dose of Estrogen that prevents bone, brain, heart and other types of deterioration, not the lowest dose. I thought it was important to put that out there because some women think they are being protected by a low dose but they're not.
I saw that video that Dr. Taylor did as well. I was on .5 mg of estradiol and she said the dose to protect it would be 1 mg so my doctor increased mine. Thanks for mentioning, it’s so important.
I am glad that I looked at the comments. I am on the combi patch: “Estradiol/progesterone .05 / 0.25 mg per day. I use two patches per week. It looks like I am on a dose that doesn’t protect my heart?😮
Blood work is important to get a baseline reading on the 2nd - 3rd day of your period You're face does not "collapse overnight", from estrogen loss. Other causes may be tooth loss or bells palsey. There is so much wrong here and so much that is NOT spoken about. Please just find a doctor you trust and speak to them. This video is not helpful.
That depends on the individual. Estradiol is available in several doses in order to meet all women's needs. If you have the obvious overdose symptoms then it can be lowered.
Having breast cancer is no longer an absolute contraindication. Careful consideration is needed to determine if they should take it. More research will come out to specify the conditions. Estrogen alone actually decreases the risk of breast cancer.
For women who have had breast cancer and have completed treatment buy the book Estrogen Matters by Dr. Avrum Blue ng and Dr.Carol Tavries. The brain fog is not just from sleep loss. When estrogen drops it causes a decrease in ATP production. See podcasts by Dr. Lisa Mosconi who hAs done PET scans of women in perimenopause.
I am 47 and have been in menopause for 2 years. I started peri at around 38-39 years old. I wanted to share my experience because I went through estrogen dominance the last couple of years leading up to menopause. The first symptom I had was breakthrough spotting in between periods. As time went on, I was bleeding or spotting on an average of 20 days per month. I suffered with what doctors would consider fibromyalgia symptoms, debilitating anxiety to the point that I couldn't eat for days, night sweats, fatigue, insomnia, and the list goes on. I started seeing a nurse practitioner that specializes in hormonal imbalances and only treats with BHRT. It changed my life. My labs showed that I had zero progesterone and testosterone, and my estrogen levels were more than 2 times higher than normal. She put me on progesterone only to counter the high estrogen during peri, and once I was fully in menopause, we added the estradiol patch and a monthly testosterone injection. When research is being done on hormones, they are basically looking at the hormones of maybe 1,000 women and determine what the normal range of each individual hormone should be for all women. What many doctors fail to look at is the ratio between the hormones. There should be a balsnce between the amount of progesterone and estrogen a woman's body produces. Although individually each hormone falls into a proper range, the rations between the 2 hormones together can be off. I recommend that ladies search for a hormone specialist in their area. I am so thankful that i found this video and you are educating women. There are so many online groups of women suffering and the admins on those sites won't allow you to recommend bio-identical hormones or really tell your story. I had the admin for 1 site messsage me and say that estrogen dominance was a myth.
@jessicagarrett1523 Valuable information and wow does your story sound like mine. May I ask what state you live in and who your NP is if it's Florida? Also, how were you able to get the testosterone injection? I was only offered cream. Finally, have you suffered from any hair loss with your HRT? TIA
@@melanie.c25 I'm in Mississippi. The NP I see offers all forms of bio-identical hormones. I tried the testosterone pellet earlier this year, but didn't feel like it worked at all. I have family in Pensacola and know there is a clinic there that offers the same options that my NP offers. Look online and search for a bio-identical specialist in your area. Some of the OB clinics here only offer pellets, oral options, and creams, so you have to see a specialist for other alternatives. I have noticed some thinning in the front of my hair, but I have fairly thick hair, so it hasn't been anything I can't live with. I haven't quite figured out if it's hrt causing it or low estrogen. I just recently had my estradiol increased because labs showed my levels had dropped lower than when I first started hrt. It seems like I have a ton of new growth since the increase.
I REALLY NEED/WANT TO KNOW IS WOOZINESS PART OF PERIMENOPAUSE!!??? My Dr. Won't do testing on Me to see if I'm in perimenopause their just thinking I am because of my symptoms!!!! I can handle hot flashes ,night sweats, ANXIETY IS HORRIBLE, MOOD SWINGS OMG BAD!!! BUT THE WOOZINESS I CAN NOT HANDLE!!!! I'M on Herbal equilibrium. Which is a natural supplement. But sometimes I feel it doesn't work anymore and I've only been on it for about 5 months!!! PLEASE IF ANYONE CAN TELL ME IF THEY HAVE HAD THESE SYMPTOMS I WOULD APPRECIATE IT. THANKS.
Your story sounds identical to my own. My symptoms started about 2 years ago I am 37 now and will be starting HRT today but only by my own research and perseverance. None of the doctors I went to mentioned it or knew anything about it. I am praying to God, this works because your experience and suffering mirrors my own to this day. It is absolutely brutal and almost intolerable. It feels like suffocating with symptoms on a daily basis. I am optimistic for the treatment. I am starting today from an online gyno "Midi Health". Fingers crossed.
Great information in your video. Yes, I’ve been on HRT for years. Wanted to mention that the estradiol patches are bio identical (to our bodies own estrogen) and the prometrium is also bio identical to the progesterone our body makes. Both are available in generic as well. I have had good experience using hrt, and it’s really helped me in many ways.
Excellent, I m 69, thinking of beginning HRT..I m young, beautiful, full of life, do lots of vitamins-well researched, little to no sugar, no alcohol, little dairy, no GMO soy , exercise, do my make-up laugh and dance a lot! past few years I m noticing many symptoms u describe ,SUGGESTIONS for 70 years= that are young and vital and lovely!, . And very excited to pass this on to my daughter! subbed
Please do research on starting HRT after you have not had a period for 5 years or longer. You can search for Menopause Barbie on UA-cam. She is a doctor that goes into great detail on the pros and cons of starting HRT late in menopause.
I pray to God that everyone who is reading this gets better and stays healthy. What helped me is using the herbs from the book the hidden herbs by anette ray
Can I just say how thankful I am for having discovered your videos this past year?! You have revamped my approach to make up and menopause. I just love how down to earth and real you are and I hope you always stay try to yourself - ‘cause sister I enjoy your style and love seeing our generation represented so beautifully! ❤ I am 46…4 months from full menopause and up until 2 weeks ago, when I started the estradiol patch/progesterone, I was at my wits end with the hot flashes, the sleep disturbance, the major irritability and mood swings, the visceral belly fat, but worst of all the brain fog. I felt like I was losing my mind, my memory was non existent - there were plenty of times I’d be at a loss for basic vocabulary mid sentence! I even ended up at a neurologist, convinced I was in early stages of dementia or Alzheimer’s. I applaud you and all women who are normalizing menopause by talking about their experiences. Hopefully, the next generations will not have to deal with the confusion and fear that comes from being misinformed or not informed at all. Thank you for adding to those voices in your always elegant and truthful way.
@@maturemakeupmasterclass Thank you for sharing & no offense, but I have to say, much of this didn't sound like modest humility. Scripture says women are to be modest & shame faced & this sounds more like a Kardashian episode ...they sll claim Christianity, too, but are CLEARLY in disobedient, UNgodly worldliness; likely, the watered down false gospel doctrine churchianity, which is SUPER common & was my unfortunate position, for 30 YEARS of calling myself a Christian, but looking NOTHING like CHRIST ... because I was FOLLOWING the world, NOT Him. GOD made us as we ARE. The vanity is evidence of insecurity, showing we're not in close enough relationship, with Him. Who told you that you're not beautiful, as you age?! ...only demonic influence would do such a thing & that is a lack of The INDWELLING Holy Spirit because insecurity is NOT a fruit of The Holy Spirit. People waste all this money, time and worry on nothing important, that will be Judged by CHRIST, because it IS sin. That time, effort & finance could be doing CHRIST'S work, but instead, the demons point at us doing what's wrong & will be testifying to such, at The Judgement (it all goes on record, to see & no one will argue with our Savior, after He tells them, they were deceived & He never knew them; despite casting out demons & doing great works, in His name ...the horrifying "LORD, LORD" Scripture). If you're not born again (saved), this makes sense. Getting older is SUPPOSED TO bring suffering discomfort & humility (which drives us closer to our Creator Savior & FOLLOWING CHRIST, not the worldliness, more closely, being a poor example of CHRIST, influencing worldliness. I don't mean any unkindness, only conviction, for correction. Blessings in FOLLOWING CHRIST, BEFORE it's too late.🙏🏻👣👣 PS Makeup is a whole other monster (see Jezebel & Scripture regarding, painting faces & lining eyes; it's a horrible rude awakening). People aren't reading & studying GOD'S WORD. THAT'S what's wrong with EVERYTHING. Be well in CHRIST.🥰
Started BHRT at age 45 this October after complete hysterectomy everything removed and feeling INCREDIBLE!!!! I suffered all through my late 30s and early 40s with horrendous heavy and painful periods that caused me to miss work ever month. At 45 I have my life back, my sex drive back and more energy than I had 20 years ago. My husband of 25 years just started on Testosterone gel to keep up with my crazy libido. So many women still live in fear of hormones, hormones our own bodies used to produce and need so badly. You can tell my just looking at a woman if she is on HRT or not. Plump dewy skin and a big old smile means she takes hormones. Dry creepy lack luster skin and thin wispy hair means she doesn’t. Thanks for getting the word out that women need hormones and don’t have to suffer
I’m on a research journey myself, I do believe we need estrogen because I saw my mother decline after 65 into dementia, had hysterectomy in her 40’s without hormonal therapy. At the same time I saw my sister at age 36 diagnosed with a cancer that was fed by the very own Estrogen! So there’s a lot of doubt in me when it comes to which way to go with this. If doctors knew how to help women with hormones that cause so much havoc prior to menopause I could believe that replacement therapy is the way to go.
I’m so happy you’re doing better!! I found relief in birth control after suffering from ovarian cysts in my mid 20s. It almost feels like that time was stolen from you because you couldn’t really enjoy yourself . Keep taking care of yourself 😊
I know I've started also in my early 40s but my doctor told me I'm too young and brushed it off. I need to keep advocating for myself because yes it's so difficult.
Same here. I was 45 and everyone brushed me off. The only problem is that I have had our brain fog, not sleeping, night sweats, and occasional hot flashes. However, the brain fog and the fatigue is debilitating for me and I am so happy I found this video.
My regular practitioner told me to “get used to your new body” when I talked to her about my menopausal symptoms. She was unwilling to discuss HRT. I found a new provider and have been on the Estradiol patch for a month. I have so much more energy, my mind is clear, I am sleeping better…the benefits are numerous. I have an IUD so no progesterone yet, but I will go on that once we remove the IUD.
There are REASONS docs do this ..Premerin has been linked to MANY illnesses..I believe my MOM now has DEMENTIA because of it !!... BIOIDENTICAL Are better ..you MUST do your RESEARCH be your OWN Advocate STOP depending on Docs for EVERYTHING...they are HUMAN too...there are so many books out there on this subject ..a long with UTUBE CHANELS ..etc.......this is YOUR BODY !!!!!! DO the WORK people it's to your benefit..the DOCS don't have ALL the answers you need ...OK .🥰
Thank you! I just turned fifty and went off my peri menopause birth control last month. Holy Cow! Brain fog and irritation, I need HRT. Thank you for sharing, I feel validated.
I learned so much from Barbie Taylor. I did do a consultation with her. It was very helpful. Women NEED this education! Most OB/GYN do not know accurate information. Thanks for sharing your experience. I’m glad you got relief!
I love this. I reached menopause at 49. Unfortunately I’m not a candidate for HRT because my mom died of breast cancer. At least that’s what my Dr told me. I’m now 50 and I’m still getting wicked hot flashes etc. I wish I could take it. Michelle I understand when you said your mom died so you can’t ask her about her symptoms. I was in my early twenties when my mom died at 50. No matter how old we get we always need our moms. Great video ❤❤
I know just how you feel… I lost my mom at 24, and forty years later, I still long for her, and also so wish I could ask her questions. My mother-in-law was thankfully a gift for 30 years, which I am so grateful for.
The fact that your mother had breast cancer does not mean you cannot take HRT! I learned this from Dr Barbara Taylor “Menopause Barbie”, and I also highly recommend the book “Estrogen Matters” by Dr Avrum Bluming, MD, a seasoned breast cancer specialist. It’s a fascinating book, written for the general public and based in decades of science. It would be a shame if you based your decision on misinformation. Dr Bluming even makes the case that even women who’ve had breast cancer themselves might be able to take HRT, because not all breast cancers are the same type.
I started perimeno at 37, so early and it turned my world upside down. Out of all the unfair things women go through, this one takes the cake and I don't think I could live without HRT. It's been the most humbling experience, and many of us ladies took pride in our looks, this just flushed everything down the drain with a little muffin top that is hard to get rid of. It's like telling the world she's unfertile, don't even look at her. The hot flashes were the worst part followed by horrible depression that just came out of nowhere. Of course we are depressed, all of our hormones are down to ZERO!!!!! This doesn't happen to men! This needs to be taken seriously from providers, it's not a vanity thing, it affects us in every aspect of our lives.
Oh my God!! I have just started on Hormone Optimization Replacement!! I was out of my mind. 5 weeks in I feel soooooo much better. And agree so much that more younger women need to know about hormone therapy. The research is so updated and what was originally put out was not accurate! Thank you! We need to get the word out.
Thank you for sharing your experience. Myself is on HRT and honestly.. I love ❤it. The patch and pg has save me and my love life. Before HRT I was feeling bad daily mentally and physically. I tried all of the natural substances. No HELP. I'm currently over a year in HRT and I'm feeling like in my twenties. I sleep like a baby every night. And yes if you forget to change that patch your flash will remind you. I take the PG once a month for twelve days. I recommend HRT for those who are a candidate 👌🏾
53 yr old. Post menopausal. On HRT for 3 years, E, P , & T all topical. Please note that a small percentage of women have a high cortisol reaction to progesterone…. This can cause high heart rate, insomnia and anxiety. So as much as I wanted the progesterone to help with sleep, it caused the opposite for me. I need P as I have an intact uterus, so my doc and I are working to find a way for me to take P without these awful side effects. (This is just additional Info so we all have all the info to support each other).
I am SO with you on this! I have many videos on the same thing...HRT for perimenopause! Just because we are not in menopause yet, doesnt mean we cant feel well too. I will say though, even women on HRT have skin that sags and their faces collapse. Aging happens no matter what.
Hi Michelle! I've been on Bio-ident HRT for 6 years. I hated the brain fog, sleeplessness, hot flashes and I had zero sex drive. Thank God, I have a sweet, understanding husband! I do use testosterone as I had zero hence the no sex drive. Mine is a cream and not the pellets. I read a book by Dr Marina Johnson called Outliving Your Ovaries and highly recommend it to understand the pros and cons of HRT. I am so glad I found it as I couldn't imagine living there rest of my life feeling miserable! Hope this helps anyone looking for more info! Ty for sharing your story! 🥰
Thank you for sharing this, I’m almost 36 and no one talks about pre menopausal symptoms including loss of sex drive etc. I’ll be trialling a 3 month course of HRT and I’m so hoping it’ll help and with some of the other issues. X
Testosterone helps with sex drive, progesterone helps with sleep issues, estradiol helps with the other symptoms. On the other hand there are supplements that also help with brain fog, anxiety the b vitamin complex is great for that, L- theanine helps with anxiety, Maca for sex drive, collagen & hyaluronic acid for face, bones, etc.
@@anniematthew2608hi, thanks for the valuable info you put in your comment, I’ve had awful symptoms for 3 years, flooding and clots with my period, joint pain and fatigue, brain fog, night sweats, tried some supplements over this time vitamin D3, boron, multi vitamin, vitamin c, probiotics, not much of a difference did I notice, when asking about hrt previous the doc said I was too young (42 at that time) now I’m 45 and just had a hysterectomy last month, fearing doc will shoot down hrt if I ask again tho at my follow up appointment, I’ve been looking online thinking to go with an online source, last time I did a Dutch test it showed normal estrogen range, low testosterone&dhea and high progesterone, that was when I still had my uterus about a year ago. So now I know I don’t need progesterone but I’m confused as to if I should try only testosterone or also have estrogen as well since my levels seemed fine last year but I was/ am still having joint pain, night sweats, fatigue, brain fog.. it’s so hard navigating this alone and so frustrating that docs don’t seem to be of help and have shot things down previously and cause patients to be hesitant to ask again and suffer trying to figure this all out on their own!
Out of all the videos this one has been soooo informative. I’m so happy to have found this . Thank you so much. I’m peri menopause and I’m 44 and doctors are not helpful and I feel so unseen .. hopefully I can get this hrt and end this suffering ..
I am on exact same as you. Best thing I ever did. I had excessive bleeding (bled all over the auditorium seats at my daughter's highschool during a concert🤯), horrible brain fog, clumsiness, hot flashes, bloating, constipation, and yes my face was falling. All in all I just didnt feel like "me". Within 2 days my hot flashes stopped and my brain started functioning again. It was a lifesaver. If you meet the criteria, I highly recommend it
OMG I felt your mortification when I read the concert comment, I'm so sorry to hear you went through that! I have several of these symptoms already in my early 40s and I've wondered what I could do about it. Thank you for sharing your experience!
At 34 years old I had to have a hysterectomy which put me into menopause. My gyno suggested estradiol and I’ve have been pleased with how it has helped with my hot flashes! Thankfully, I’ve been on it for 10 years and haven’t had any issues.
@@Michelle-bl8sz The two changes I’ve noticed are less breakouts (score!) and dryer skin. My dry skin (face and body) could be contributed by hypothyroidism, too. Overall, no significant changes.
I have been on bio identical hormones 10 years.. I love them! My problem started at age 42.. I have done it all patch, pills, creams, injections and pellets.. I have to say by far I felt better on pellets! I might go back to that I just worry about losing my hair like a lot of women do with too high testosterone. I find every doctor says something different.. some doctors believe in cycling so you only use progesterone for 2 weeks also some doctors are so afraid of high levels of estrogen!! I had to go to a few different doctors till I found the one that allowed me robust estrogen to work for me.. right now I wear 2 max strength estrogen patches AND use 4 mg cream every day otherwise I’m up all night horrible insomnia and progesterone never put me to sleep. Glad I found your channel 😊
Been on the exact same thing as you...patch and prog tabs. Life changing! No more insomnia, hot flashes, night swear, exhaustion, immediate weight gain.
You are the first one I’ve heard about that talked about the face drop. I, too, look so much younger with the mask. The brain fog is so bad I worry I’m getting dementia. You made me feel so much better.
I knew women were wearing those ridiculous masks in shops etc because they were insecure. Or thought they looked exotic with just the bambi eyes showing . Bet you didn't think of the women whom suffered during the insane lockdowns. 🤡
Ohhh my gosh. As I was watching this I started tearing up. I’m 58 and have been post menopausal the last four to five years. I started to see a specialist for menopause a few years back then found she was not covered by my insurance, so stopped seeing her. I thought I needed to just suck it up and accept the symptoms. Brain fog, I’ll be at work and totally forget whatever I’m doing. sleepless nights, saggy face, and when you said you smell like a farm animal, I started cracking up because I to describe it as smelling like a hamster cage.😂 and although I make jokes, and I don’t like to feel like I’m vain, but feeling unattractive is not fun, so thank you so much for this video. I’m planning on finding a gynecologist to discuss HRT this video was so helpful. Also going to follow the Barbie doctor. Thank you Michelle ❤
Love this! I am almost 43 and I know in my soul I've been experiencing permenopause for a few years now. But every time I try to discuss it with my doctor/gyno, I'm dismissed as being "too young" or they dismiss HRT as being too risky. It is so frustrating. My periods have been irregular for a couple of years, often times extremely heavy and painful which is not the norm for me (or the younger me). And the sleepless nights?? UGH! But even worse, the BRAIN FOG. I have flat out questioned my sanity and thought at times that I might be developing Dementia or some other neurological disease.... and it has had me terrified. But after watching this video, I'm now back to believing what I used to think (until doctors convinced me otherwise), that, sadly, I am experiencing perimenopause at an earlier age than most women. I'd say I started questioning it at around age 39-40. I am scheduled for my yearly "womanly exam" next Tuesday and intend to bring this up, again, and ask to be placed on the estradiol/patch/progesterone and see how doc responds. Or, start looking for a new doctor. Unfortunately where I live my options will likely be limited, as far as doctors who specialize in this arena and are ready & willing to support me through this journey.
I am 41 in April…and started peri symptoms at 38. I saw my 3rd obgyn yesterday…and she said I am a great candidate for HRT!! So relieved. The night sweats, insomnia, brain fog, anxiety, hot flashes…terrible.
Look for a better doctor. I got on HRT at 43, a year ago, after changing the doctor and after at least 3 years of hot flashes and night sweats. In 3 years I developed osteoporosis and osteoarthritis. I am much better now, and I am weight training to help with bone density, but the damage has been done. Please go see a sane doctor that will help you protect your bones, joints, and heart. I've been on HRT for 11 months and I felt better after three months and I feel like the hormones are fully kicking in only now. At 43, you are not too young, it's early menopause but not unheard of and happens to many of us. Ask for a hormone panel, and if you don't need HRT it will be indicated by normal hormonal levels. Menopause is easily diagnosed using hormone testing and ovary ultrasound.
Same here I am 43 and been getting progressively worse the past few years. I went to an ob/gyn a couple years back and he said everything was fine but its not fine. I don't recognize myself in the mirror I feel like a stranger in my own body. I scheduled an appointment but it isn't until October. I feel like I am losing my mind. I have literally no energy and yet my anxiety is horrendous. I can't sleep at night even with strong medication I am waking up all night. I look like I aged 10 years overnight. Dental issues. My booty disappeared and went to my midsection. I am carrying my weight differently. I am emotional. It's ruining my life. I have no sex drive at all it's destroying my relationship with my partner. My hair is thinning. I started taking high doses of gelatinized maca root, fenugreek and low dose saw palmetto. I am 2 weeks in and starting to feel a little relief from my symptoms. I just pray my Dr. Doesn't refuse to start me on HRT. I will beg him for it at this point because I can't function and live like this anymore. If my Dr tells me no I am telling him I will order it from another country which I will do if he refuses me. 😂
Im 42 the midwife ordered the FSH and it was 80 which is way to high. Within 24 hrs of using the estrodial patch I feel so much better. Try to get your FSH tested that could be the ticket to getting your HRT prescribed.
Most women know are starting that young. No proper nutrition and all the birth control crap and bad diets/frenetic crazy lifestyles. No children or women having one or two. It all contributes. As well as working outside the home. Stress which kills women slowly. You do know it can go on for 7-10 years. Your not that young going through it.
Well done!!! I too, learned from Dr. Taylor and everything you said it spot on! However, if a primary family member has had breast cancer that doesn’t mean one cannot be on HRT. The type and reason for the cancer makes a difference. Talk to a very knowledgeable doctor!
Thank you for making this video! So helpful! I have had a huge increase in anxiety and panic attacks since being in menopause! It’s been awful not to mention the brain fog 😢
I just went on HRT at 53. Didn't really know I was in perimenopause. I had horrible anxiety, crying all the time and sleep issues. I feel like myself and I've only been on it for a couple of days now.
This is me too! I thought I was going mental! I’ve been on it 3 days and it could be placebo effect but i already feel better and more energy like the dogs lifted. Can’t wait to see after a month
I'm 44 and started on prometrium in June. LIFECHANGER! I can sleep now and stay asleep (with the weirdest dreams I've ever had), I'm not moody anymore, the brain fog isn't as intense, cystic acne is gone. I feel like a new woman. My periods are back to being normal and aren't short and erratic. I think women need to talk more among themselves and share these symptoms.
Also, I would suggest getting a female doctor. It's just easier to talk to them about what you are going through and you may not have your symptoms shrugged off or told you are too young.
it is so great that you share this from the perspective of a user and not a doctor, I understand we don't want to feel older or mature, we want to be young forever but age is inevitable and it's awesome that we learn to embrace it. We need to make more women aware that there's a solution for all the suffering we go thru this time of our lives and not just go home sad after talking to their doctors, the majority of doctors can be very cruel when it comes to this subject, they don't want to help, I understand they are afraid of doing it even though there are already publications about all of the benefits; we as women that go to the doctor to ask for HRT already did our research and know all the risks so we are not putting the whole responsibility, l I think we are the generation that are opening the path for the younger ones; I hope everything changes soon; you look beautiful!
Really enjoying this. I’d like to comment that I am on Estrogel and Prometrium (200g) but am still finding fatigue in the middle of the day. I wonder if it’s due to my testosterone level, of which I am investigating pellets (low dose to start). I have also started taking my progesterone in the mornings, as Dr. Barbie mentions that, if you want to sleep like a zombie, take your progesterone at night. If you want to sleep like a baby, take it earlier in the day. I’ve been doing it for about a week and hope to see an improvement soon. I hope that, with the testosterone pellets as well, I will see an improvement in my energy level. I am 63 and have been on HRT since 53. I am continuing and will not stop until I die.
I am 55 and menopaused early at 47. I was on birth control at the time and didn't know I had menopaused, It masked all the symptoms. I then went on to HRT and its been great. I also follow Menopause Barbie and 2 British ladies, Dr. Louise Newson and a TV presenter Davina McCall who have done lots of documentaries in the UK asking doctors to help women more. Of course HRT is either free there or around $10 a month (sometimes I wish I hadn't moved to America ;) ) but they do have different guidelines. While they won't let you take birth control pills after 35, they do say you can stay on HRT indefinitely whereas in the States I think they say up until 65. "Dr Newson is a GP and menopause specialist and holds an Advanced Menopause Specialist certificate with Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare and the British Menopause Society. She is passionate about improving education about the perimenopause and menopause and improving awareness of safe prescribing of HRT to healthcare professionals". I did ask my insurance company why they won't cover HRT and they said its because its 'not medically necessary', it's part of the normal aging process 🙄. So men can get ED pills on health insurance??? That part does suck because HRT isn't always cheap. Dr Newson is definitely worth checking out. She is really standing up for British women's rights and access to this.
Hi Laura, I too had my menopause symptoms masked by my birth control pills that I am still currently taking at 53 yrs old so I do not know when I actually entered Menopause. (I will be getting off BC pills next month) I’m just curious, how did you know that you were in early menopause at 47 if your birth control masked your symptoms?
@Ms. T my doctor confirmed it with blood work. I had no idea I had until see said. I did the bloodwork prior to HRT so she could see what I was low on and that's when she said "well apparently you blew thru menopause ". I did the HRTb for a few months but preferred the bc and she was ok with my going back on it. I had fertility drugs at 40 trying for a 3rd baby and they said then I wasn't producing enough eggs even with the drugs and my menopause dr said typically when you do fertility drugs it brings menopause on sooner because you are getting rid of more eggs at one time.
@@laurakelley5250 that makes perfect sense, thank you so much for the reply Laura. I will finally be getting off my birth control pills next month and was wondering when you did the same, did you start HRT immediately after stopping your BC pill? I know we are all different, but did HRT continue to mask your menopause symptoms like the birth control pills did or did you develop new symptoms because the birth control pill has higher dosages of estrogen and progesterone? Thanks!
Thank you SO much for shining a light on this topic that has been ignored for sooo long; and left women confused, scared and feeling like we’re going crazy! 😣 This is SO validating! ❤🙏 You’re absolutely right, we and our family doctors desperately need and deserve more education about peri menopause/menopause! Thank you again for sharing your journey and letting us know we’re not alone! So thankful I found your channel!! ☺️🌻
Thank you for sharing! Especially about your younger friend. I am turning 41…being in Perimenopause since I was 38. It just gets worse and worse. Yesterday my gyn prescribed HRT for me!! I am nervous and excited.
Thank you for this (from 2 years ago)! I started perimenopause around 38/39 but I thought I was falling apart- I didn’t know it was peri. I was confused what perimenopause was and thought -well I’m definitely not in the menopause- I’m still bleeding profusely. I’m now 44 and just started the estradiol patch today! I’m so happy but pissed that none of the 5 doctors I saw over the past 5 years ever mentioned all these symptoms were caused by perimenopause !!
I used to have night sweats, hot flashes, heavy occasional periods and then no periods. Then my daughter moved back in and i started having periods regularly again. Now I’m back to one day a month periods. Thank you for the info. My doctors have said that I’m too young to worry and I’m almost 48. So i guess I’m not crazy. I need a new doctor
I had accupunture for an unrelated reason, five treatments, and I completely stopped my period. I was 47 years old. Prior I had it for 3 days out of the month, very light. So what should have been a slow gradual process of a woman's peri-menopause years, was abruptly cut short. And she was a medical doctor who did accupunture in her office. I wish I never would have had swelling in my one arm because of a fall. Ugh 😩😣
Sadly, that is their standard reply when you don't fit into their "one size fits all" method. I completely stopped when I was 48. I found a doctor who didn't argue with it, who put me on a very low dose of a compounded estradiol....0.05 two times a week, and I have been just fine. As I told one doctor, "I've been living with this body for 47 years, I think I know how it works!" :)
I have premature ovarian failure and I’m 38. I’m technically post menopausal now as I haven’t had a period in over a year. Peri menopause was tough! Meno was tough too but I’ve just started HRT in April and I feel much better. I feel bad for your one friend, my primary care doctor told me I was too young and I had to push to see an endocrinologist who specializes in metabolic health and hormones. She saved me.
Thank you for sharing! I love Dr. Barbie too! I’ve been in menopause 3-4 years without HRT and I hate it. I’m hoping it’s not too late to begin HRT, the benefits far outweigh the risks and I’ve had cancer of the appendix, but I also have high blood pressure. Weighing my risks, HRT I believe will increase my life expectancy. I was recently diagnosed with hypothyroidism, so for a 54, year old woman whose always rocked it and was confident in her body and believed she was beautiful, all these changes have been very difficult to accept. I don’t want to accept that this is how I’m going to feel for the rest of my life and I believe HRT will help. I’ll let you know how I feel!
Had a complete hysterectomy at 40, been on HRT since, 19 years! Because I do not have a uterus I do not take progesterone. I just had an appointment with a new doctor and he did not want to renew my patch! I refused and I'm staying on my patch! Best thing for me!
Thank you. I thought I was just depressed and then I started watching videos on perimenopause and realized that is what is happening! No one talks about this and truly I was/am terrified to face this but seeing all these comments I don’t feel alone!!
I went to a hormone specialist at the age of 36 and he tested my hormones. He said that I have the same level of hormones as a postmenopausal woman. It was heartbreaking for me because I wanted another baby. I'm now 37 and on BHRT. The brain fog is definitely subsiding.
I am 38 years old and I just had a baby last year who I delivered under general anesthesia at 33 weeks because I got Covid and unfortunately I didn’t wake up I was put on ECMO, life-support, put in a medically induced coma. Long story short, I didn’t even get to meet the baby until I was at a rehabilitation center learning how to walk, I’m a baby was three months old and I got to visit her for 45 minutes. No I have felt some thing has been off for the last couple of months and had my levels checked and I am also post menopausal and I have no idea how or why this happened or what is going on and I am freaking out.
@@Italianqueenme and friend kind of wonder if Covid through us into early peri for me at 33 may have been normal for her at 37, but we both had crazy anxiety out of no where and cycle problems of varying degrees and insomnia, and antidepressants made us worse, my testosterone is now low and it was always high due to PCOS and I wonder about my ratio of estrogen to progesterone because it’s normal but idk we were fine before we had Covid
I am in BHRT for over 6 months and I love it. I use the pellet version and I don’t have any problem with it. I will never stop taking it. I don’t care how much a need to pay for, as long as I don’t have any of the symptoms of menopause.
Thank you so much for this video. After suffering with horrible symptoms of peri I finally went on HRT and it’s changed my quality of life. My face also dropped from one day to the next. It really bummed me out. I decided to do Morpheus 8 and just did my first treatment. Noticed a very slight improvement in my jowls but still have 2 more treatments to go. Keep us posted on your treatment of choice. Love you channel 😊
I'm almost 48 & started perimenapause this year. What bothers me the most is I have absolutely NO sex drive & my husband is a very good-looking 40 yr old guy who adores me & he just doesn't understand why I don't want sex! I don't understand why I don't want sex!!!! 😫And the weight gain does not help my self-esteem! It's all right in my middle. We recently went on vacation & unless I had my kids standing in front of me or just a pic of the neck up I deleted it! I felt i looked so fat in every pic! I HATE feeling this way & my poor hubby & kids...😔
Hi. From aaaaall the hours of videos on the subject of hormones I’ve been watching you may need bloodwork to check your testosterone levels & have that hormone tweaked. I hope this helps so you can enjoy your husband/intimacy.
Thank you for this…It’s nice to hear someone else’s story of hope…I just started the HRT about 2 weeks ago. I was very hesitant with everything I have heard about it. I also started watching You Tube videos of doctors talking about it. I have been so bad with depression and anxiety I had to do something. So I took the leap. It’s hard for me to tell completely yet everything but I do think it helps in some areas so far. I plan to keep working with the Mid Life doctor I’m going to and hope that I can find complete joy in my life again. 😁
I was in full peri menopause in the mid-late 90’s after moving to LA. My main issue was getting migraines and being terribly sick around my period. I had some night sweats and a lot of brain fog. My regular OB/GYN was not into HRT - the bioidentical kind. My friend turned me on to her doctor who had a private practice but by the time I went to see him he joined another practice and wouldn’t do it for me. Believe it or not, my eye doctor recommended a physician in Torrance, and he took good care of me. However, I highly recommend, if your viewers cannot find a physician, to look up a “compounding pharmacy” and see if they can recommend doctors who promote HRT. Saliva and blood tests are required and you certainly need to have your level checked on an annual or semi-annual basis. I’m 68 been on bio identicals for nearly 20 years. Also, beware of so called natural or homeopathic physicians - they don’t want you on this stuff either. I went to one when I moved here to Vegas she got me off hormones and when went back to visit my doctor in Torrance yelled at me, saying you need to be on this for LIFE. I only use the progesterone 100 mg like you and a cream with estradiol and testosterone. Did not want to do that patch (plus they are extremely expensive!). Good luck to everyone, educate yourselves and feel better!
Julie, I remember your journey in all of this. It overwhelmed me a bit for you. I am so thankful you shared every detail!!! Thank you! and yes, HRT is for life!!!
Thank you so much for this. My mother has never been open about her menopause journey…so I’ve had no one to talk to. My girlfriends are younger and are not experiencing this yet…I absolutely appreciate your openness ❤
Ahhh! I have been struggling in peri menopause. This sounds like a fit for me! This has been debilitating. I’m making a doctors appointment tomorrow! Thank you so much for your video! We need to chat about this because we need to enjoy our lives and find things that help us women.
Thank you for sharing, I turned 50 this year, suffering from perimenopause (a lot more symptoms than you mentioned, its literally ruining my life) and have been considering HRT. You just helped me make up my mind :)
Wow what you said about your face failing your skin drooping and the strange smell is exactly what I've noticed in the last year I'm 55 and I'm in post menopause. I didn't relate it to hormones! Thank you for the video
Thank you for this info! I'm 38 and having a hard time wrapping my brain around becoming perimenopausal, especially since I had a baby not long ago. I feel too young lol. But I know it's going to happen eventually. I appreciate older women sharing their stories and wisdom on this topic.
I am on the same HRT you’re describing. I just started this week I am feeling better already. I was experiencing the exact same symptoms you are describing. The foggy brain, saggy skin, hot flashes, night sweats and the goat smell. I am 51 and I am very excited about my HRT. I was so scared about HRT but I am glad more and more people are talking about menopause.
Thank you so much for this! I really loved your honesty! HRT has changed my life. Your non-judgemental, kind and sweet treatment of women warms my heart 🌺
Thank you! I’m postmenopausal too! Here’s my experience: I started HRT late, only about 6 months ago. I am using patch and progesterone too plus vaginal cream! I had extreme breast soreness and bleeding. Had a D&C with no cancer detected. Dr told me I could continue HRT but I was reluctant. I decided to try cutting my patch in two and continue progesterone and cream. Finally feel normal. I will follow up with my doctor.
HRT is a minefield and not necessarily the silver bullet women think...its great for some 😊 but not for everyone...it can be a real roller coaster and very difficult.
Hi sweetie, You are so beautiful. I'm 68 and I just found your channel! I have been watching some of your old videos and I'm fascinated. You sound like a friend. The way you teach us about makeup, even an old broad like me, is so relaxing. I love makeup. I always have. I am in a wheelchair if I leave the house but I'm always made up! I'm just an old girlie girl!🤣🤣🤣 I only leave the house once a month but I wear makeup every day. It makes me feel good. It's so nice to meet you Love, JoJo ❤️❤️
I’m 24 in menopause due to genetics. Starting HRT today. Been feeling like I was losing my mind the past couple years before I knew what it was! My mom and I are now doing this at the same time but she’s taking a holistic approach. I have no peers to refer to for advice because of my age. I’m really hoping this helps!
Pellets can be wonderful. They go in your hip area not your butt cheek. They last anywhere from 2.5 to 4 months depending on how fast your body absorbs them. Please do your research before getting them. I first tried BioTE and had a horrific experience. Thry are the McDonald's of Pellets. Do Pellets that are compounded specifically for you. Your gyno will know which are best. I suffered for a long time after my full hysterectomy. It was hell and I was misdiagnosed MANY times and put on crap I didn't need. All I needed was hormones. It's amazing the difference in my quality of life. Thank you for sharing your journey. 💜
I watched a video by dr. Susan hardwick where she said that biote has a hormone dosage scale they go by & it’s usually too high, so it is best to ask the rep to start you off on a lower dose than what’s indicated on their scale.
Thank you for sharing this. Appreciate it. Just got prescripted HRT today. I thought I was going to go insane. Brain fog is a nightmare. The bleeding is just another thing all together. I'm 48 years old. Night sweats came and gone for some reason, maybe they are coming again. I feel like a started to look old this year all of a sudden.
GO, womens' Friend! Not being Shy, I actually asked several GNYs and internists over 22 years about the Pros and Cons of HRT. Like most of my generation I believed that the 2022 results of the huge Women's Health Initiative which has been roundly discredited, but my docs were not keeping up on the new research showing the SAFETY of the right estrogen and modern Progesterone, On YT I found Heather Hirsch MD and Rachael Rubin MD who are two HOT WARIORS using their stunning credentials and training battling to spread the word in a teaching series of fantastic videos, and a course to train us how to talk to our ill=informed docs no matter where we live!. Yesterday I saw Dr Hirsch remotely, and now Harvard's Menopause Doctor is my doctor! Thank you for this warm and informative 1st-person video!
I have been on hrt for 10 years. Start on the lowest dose of estrogen at first see if that stops your symptoms. High doses of estrogen can stimulate the lining of the womb and cause bleeding which would need investigating. Hrt is great but there are risks.
Be careful with the mammograms. There’s cancer risks with these too. Been doing thermograms instead. And from there can get an Ultrasound if need to, and no radiation.
Thanks for sharing your journey. I wish I would have taken more action on my symptoms during the perimenopause stage. I convinced myself it was okay to suffer because it was part of women's health. The hot flashes and night sweats, insomnia, and brain fog have been the most significant symptoms for me. They have subsided since I am now in menopause. (we seem to be on the same timeline). I occasionally get a hot flash, which has diminished since taking Vit B 12. Your video has convinced me to reach out to a specialist to focus on my long-term health (I have a family history of all those issues of osteoporosis, heart issues, and dementia). It has been hard to come to terms with a bit of weight gain as I was lucky to be the same weight for 40+ years and never had issues with it. I also developed a lipoma in my lower back near my waist, which is uncomfortable. I am blessed to be in a situation to be retiring at 55, and I am going to take advantage of his time to take care of myself. You have me loving my skin and make-up again and you have now inspired me to focus on my hormonal health. Thank you for being transparent and vulnerable in sharing your journey. 🙏🥰
Love this! We NEED to advocate for one another, it’s a new day, new time, and it’s OUR time! Mature woman need to continue to push for our seat at the table, and continue to push for more health options for us! THANK YOU for speaking about this, we need more to do this. My Mother was also of the generation that we did not talk about these things. As a mature woman of 47, perimenopause kicks my butt!! BUT I refuse to sit back and let it just happen, I want better for myself and then in turn better for my own daughters. THANK YOU!! Xoxo
Agreed you have to advocate for yourself and recently increased my estradiol since my estrogen was very low. It's important to get blood work done and see a good Obgyne/Endocrinologist. I have a friend who refuses to get HRT or fire her doctor. She is having severe symptoms including Alopecia losing hair it just hurts to see someone not advocate for themselves . I'm lucky I don't get sweaty hot flashes and appear much younger than my age of 51. Last year was rough felt like a walking zombie a sign to have your hormones checked and balanced.
I started having extreme hot flashes at 49. Severe fatigue, severe brain fog. It has changed my life for the absolute worst. My Dr has finally said he would put me on estrogen and progesterone … hopefully my life will be back soon.
Omg!!! This video was so helpful. I have every negative symptom you mentioned. I have been on birth control but it made me gain 40 lbs in the last two years and my hot flashes are out of control. I feel so ugly and horrible. I just subscribed to your channel. Thank you
I was on the Estradiol patch for about 10 years..just this last month I stopped and I’m going to try bioidentical hormones. (Had to stop for a month for my lab work to see exactly what I needed and boy, it’s been a rough month..lol.)
The estradiol patch is bio identical. Estradiol is the bio identical form of estrogen your own body makes. Progesterone is also bio identical. Progestins are the synthetic version of progesterone which accounted for the 1% increase in breast cancer rates in the very flawed WHI study. Estradiol does not increase your risk of cancer it’s actually very cancer protective
I had one week of hot flashes and cold shivers and no sleep and went right to BHRT. It certainly is wonderful for the skin and weight control apart from the disease control. Been on it 20 years and will stay on it for life. Do make sure you get enough Estrogen. The minimum dose is 1mg a day and the amount in your gel or patches etc will vary. Some of us need more.
I started like a month ago just feeling weird and with anxiety and my doctor wants to test me to see if I’m starting perimenopause, I feel horrible , I even leave work feeling bad with anxiety and hot and then I get so cold as well! I can’t wait to try something
Thank you so much for this, my doctor put me on hrt, and I m 43 early ménopause, i started experiencing change in my face brain fog sweating and mainly suddenly I smell like a goat, I have strong sense of smell and I couldn’t understand it at all. Now all makes sense. What really pushed me to this is both my period had discontinued and my brain fog getting really terrible. I m hopefully starting soon. Thank you again for this video.
I started at 38 and fully menopausal at 49. On HRT for 4 years now and would never go back. My symptoms started with anxiety and heavy periods and acne and sleep disturbances.
Brain fog and daily headaches for over two years! It is so unbelievable to me there is not more mainstream information about this -- particularly from primary care physicians, and even obgyns!
@@maturemakeupmasterclass I forgot to mention. One thing from that podcast that really resonated with me. They claimed for every woman with breast cancer over 60 there are 2 women with Alzheimer's. They can treat breast cancer, there is no treatment or cure for Alzheimer's. I too am 55 (just turned in October) and my mom died a year ago at 82 after 5 years of Alzheimer's. Alzheimer's scares the S**t out of me. It's awful!
I’m 49 & it hasn’t happened yet I went through menopause at 44 .. I’m just now getting my hrt prescriptions today from my dr.. I start my patch & progesterone tomorrow.. I’m so excited I hope I feel better… I got bio identical hrt and my insurance covered it 100%.. I can’t believe it..
My mom and cousin had their last periods at age 40. My cycle is at 42 days now and the past month I thought I was hemorrhaging. I have never blood so much in my life. I quickly ordered boxes of super absorbency pads and more tampons from Amazon. I was too tired to leave the house. I have so many more symptoms and am ready for HRT!!
I too have been on BHRT for over a year. I found hormone Barbie several years ago. Listening to her is what made me take the plunge. I go to HRT clinic so it is not covered under insurance. Once I go for my annual female check up I will mention it to my dr to see if she can give it to me. Most gyno’s have minimal training on it.
You are 55??! Wow, you look Great! I came here since a family member in menopause & has heart issues, so I suggested she start HRT, having watched Dr. Mary Claire Haver. I am in perimenopause, not having symptoms as bad just yet, & currently use herbal & vitamin supplements, & low carbs which has helped, but am glad I have the option to take HRT if I need to. Thank you! ❤
I am also over 50; in the 50's for a while now, so am a late starter to perimenopause, which can make a difference, but still have several symptoms; joint pain, occasional brain fog, my face is not as youthful, I get spacial disproportion, digestive issues, & find myself more impatient than before. Really appreciate your advice, & how genuine you are!! 😘
Thank you so much for sharing all of your information with us. We really appreciate it as women there's not that many people I get to talk to about this. Most women do not want to talk about it. So I really appreciate your video and you are absolutely beautiful. I would have never guessed that you are fifty five love
Thank you
i am in surgical menopause do I really need HRT
Yes, it should be the standard to screen women at 35
My ovaries failed at 29. I have been on HRT for 23 years. Saved my life.
Thank God for modern day medicine!
Were you able to have children ? Was that an option ?
@@LuxeSciTech Yes, I had 4 children before my ovaries failed.
@@maturemakeupmasterclassI am so sorry that happened to you. May I ask why you were put on HRT
That's so true, HRT also saved my live two year ago❤
I had both fallopian tubes removed in my early 30's. I am 41 and have had zero sex drive for like five years. I ended up divorced. This stuff can ruin relationships and intimacy. My PCP was no help. I went to a new Gyno doc and she talked to me about estrogen. Come to find out that having the fallopian tubes out can cause early perimenopause! I just picked up my script today. I'll try to keep you all posted.
How are you feeling? Hopefully better 😊
Are you better
That’s nonsense about the fallopian tubes! You’re obviously low in whatever because you’re not eating the foods your body needs. Supplement whatever way you want to, or that works.. but know your ovaries are still working ! And if they aren’t then it was your diet that got you to where you are today.
Hows it going???
@@Rebecca-ys3cbalthough it can be potentially helpful for you to share YOUR OWN experiences, it is NEVER helpful to contradict a complete stranger whom you know nothing about and to tell them that the conclusions they have come to about THEIR OWN health are basically b.s.
Oh! this is excellent info!! Thank you SO much!
the problem with pellets are they are compounded and therefore not regulated.
The WHI study was run so poorly:
They used synthetic hormones, which don't behave like bioidentical hormones we now have.
No, the correct dose is given after blood work
Blood work is important to get a baseline reading on the 2nd - 3rd day of your period
You're face does not "collapse overnight", from estrogen loss.
Glad you chimed in because I was just about to say exactly what you said!
I agree
So i shouldn't worry about estriol?@karenflynn147
THANKS.
@ginamahnke2081 I experienced this some off and on, but not too bad.
I am new to menopause! Had a hysterectomy in December.
Where do you get your bio identical HRT? Can my GYN prescribe it?
Thank you in advance!
Thank you for that
Thanks for this info. So progesterone (Prometrium) is not synthetic type I read all the scary things about like causing certain cancers, etc?
What helped me is using the herbs from the book the hidden herbs by anette ray
that book turned everything around for me
read it a few days ago, its great
I got it, one of the best books ive ever read
thanks
I finished that book 2 weeks ago and I can say that is amazing book. Would also recommend it.
Exactly how I was feeling . I still do at times but not as often with HRT.
Yes!!!! we must share so the next generation won’t suffer as much as we did. We only fear what we don’t know.
How can I get this?
Do you feel better?

Thank you for sharing & no offense, but I have to say, much of this didn't sound like modest humility. Blessings in FOLLOWING CHRIST, BEFORE it's too late.🙏🏻👣👣
PS
Makeup is a whole other monster (see Jezebel & Scripture regarding, painting faces & lining eyes; it's a horrible rude awakening).
I am about to have a full hysterectomy. What kind of hormones are you on?
Estrogen replacement with or without testosterone ?
Progesterone ?
I’m on a research journey myself, I do believe we need estrogen because I saw my mother decline after 65 into dementia, had hysterectomy in her 40’s without hormonal therapy. At the same time I saw my sister at age 36 diagnosed with a cancer that was fed by the very own Estrogen! So there’s a lot of doubt in me when it comes to which way to go with this. If doctors knew how to help women with hormones that cause so much havoc prior to menopause I could believe that replacement therapy is the way to go.
Wow that sounds like a tricky position for you!! I hope you find someone brilliant to help inform you the best options.@@anniematthew2608
I’m so happy you’re doing better!! I found relief in birth control after suffering from ovarian cysts in my mid 20s. It almost feels like that time was stolen from you because you couldn’t really enjoy yourself . Keep taking care of yourself 😊
I started experiencing perimenopause at age 43...it has been so difficult. Thank you for sharing!
You are so welcome
I have an IUD so no progesterone yet, but I will go on that once we remove the IUD.
right??? it’s a game changer, I don’t know why some providers want to hold us back
What a nasty woman. It really annoys me when women do this to other women.
The patch is the best option for HRT because it is similar to what your body produced. Don't use Premarin ladies. It comes from pregnant mare urine!
I hope these doctors get hit with menopause so bad!! And I hope they think of all the females that they pushed away!!
So glad to hear you worked with her!!!
A world without a mom is not a fun place. I’m sorry you were so young, you were robbed
I know just how you feel… I lost my mom at 24, and forty years later, I still long for her, and also so wish I could ask her questions. My mother-in-law was thankfully a gift for 30 years, which I am so grateful for.
This conversation 🥲💞.
Check out Dr. David Rosensweet. He wrote Happy, Healthy Hormones and discusses hormones and women with familia breast cancer.
WoW AMEN AND AMEN 🙏🏽 too that!!! Very well put my sister in Jesus Christ 🙏🏽
YESSSS! You said it all!!! Its unfair for us. We women already go through SO MUCH, I almost could not believe there was MORE to come.
Oh my God!! I have just started on Hormone Optimization Replacement!! I was out of my mind. 5 weeks in I feel soooooo much better. And agree so much that more younger women need to know about hormone therapy. The research is so updated and what was originally put out was not accurate! Thank you! We need to get the word out.
And what is it what are you do
Ooo I’m glad I found you. I’m 43 and going through perimenopause big time.
Great post, thank you. I started HRT last week xx
Wow never heard of this . Progesterone works like a sleeping pill for me thank goodness Plus it stopped the debilitating migraines I was having .
Did you ever find a way to make progesterone work?
If you meet the criteria, I highly recommend it
Yes! It literally changes quality of life overnight!
Thank you for sharing. That is so young to have a hysterectomy
Do you feel like it helped with skin aging? Going through menopause and wondering how this is going to impact my skin
@@Michelle-bl8sz The two changes I’ve noticed are less breakouts (score!) and dryer skin. My dry skin (face and body) could be contributed by hypothyroidism, too. Overall, no significant changes.
Do you take the pills or patches?
@@ashley9776 Pills, Estradiol, just enough to curb the hot flashes.
Amen! I wish my mom had tried it. Her peri and meno was a long time mess!
Can you recall how long it took for the estrogen to kick in for insomnia?
Can you tell me what pills I need to get the two pills that she’s holding
I literally got tears in my eyes when you said your face dropped 🥺. I don’t want my face to drop 😩. I’m turning 44 in one week .
You are the first one I’ve heard about that talked about the face drop. I, too, look so much younger with the mask. The brain fog is so bad I worry I’m getting dementia. You made me feel so much better.
Look for vitamins supplements that feed the brain - B complex especially B12, Gingko, omega 3 krill oil, D3 & k2 that read with Mk-7 natto.
Oh Sherry, I’m so happy we found each other! I just want to help women and build them up. You are not alone
Menopause Barbie saved my life !!
Yes! Same! She’s the best and she has a podcast
@JenniferBudiac could you tell me what name brand Progesterone pills you take? Is PROMETRIUM the only ones offered? Thanks
Jennifer budiac I'm 53 I am perimenopause . I have bad anxiety and depression. What patches and amount do you use.
Wait, at 53 you didn’t know? I think by 53 you are in menopause perimenopause is long behind 😅
@@Butterflylovely5not all women are in menopause I still have a monthly period I am 53.
My Gp said I'm still in perimenopause.
So happy you found relief and thanks for sharing here!

Me too! Isn’t the sleep amazing! I feel like a new woman on this too
Also, I would suggest getting a female doctor.
I’m pray my daughters do not suffer like we all have! I see change! Not without a fight tho but its been too long!
One of the best talks on Menopause and ageing. I also noticed how my face changed overnight. Depressing. Hormones are so vital. Keep sharing dear. 😍
I been menopause ,but I need to try some HRT 9r something
ah yes, patriarchal healthcare. 🤡 thank you for sharing this info.
You’re absolutely right, we and our family doctors desperately need and deserve more education about peri menopause/menopause!
Unfortunately, you definitely need a new doctor but it’s OK. There are many good ones out there.
Your not too young at 48. That's menopause age up to 53.
Cindy, please some back and let me know what you and your doctor choose
Did you try hrt Cindy? Xx
Had a complete hysterectomy at 40, been on HRT since, 19 years! Because I do not have a uterus I do not take progesterone. I just had an appointment with a new doctor and he did not want to renew my patch! I refused and I'm staying on my patch! Best thing for me!
You need to be on progesterone as well. It supports the Estradiol. Thsrs a myth just because you gave no uterus. Do your research carefully.
Very unusual I'd find out why what was causing the extreme loss of hormones. Myself and my daughter were both having babies into our 40's
@@JW-qz4jl- ME tooo I was fine before Covid........Covid destroyed lives....😢... ...stilll trying to Recover & hoping HRT will give my life e back 🙏
I am in BHRT for over 6 months and I love it.
THANK YOU!! This was shat I needed to make the decision to call Australasian Menopause Society and get the process started, brilliant video!
Maca helps sex drive so does horny goat weed. With maca it took about 5 months of taking the powder supplement before I noticed a change in libido.
@Greasmonkis hi since its been 6 months since you start Hrt.
How are you feeling did it work for
I'm in the same email situation as you at the moment.
Using my husband’s account. Love this and I hate my droopy jowels too. Video made me cry as I feel so awful and it helped me understand.

Did you take those injections? I wouldn't recommend you take any more.
THANK YOU!! Xoxo
AMEN!!!!! we don’t have to take it, and we can change the rules and live your best life yet
Thanks for your video, your honesty and for your loving help. You are right that we have to talk about this stuff!!
Omg!!! This video was so helpful. I have every negative symptom you mentioned. I have been on birth control but it made me gain 40 lbs in the last two years and my hot flashes are out of control. I feel so ugly and horrible. I just subscribed to your channel. Thank you
THANK YOU for talking about this , it is so hard to find out information on HRT
Thank you for sharing! I just started HRT and I’m feeling hopeful 🤞
I love HRT. Thank you for your great educational vids x
Dr. John Lee's book, "What your Doctor won't Tell you about Perimenopause" is also AMAZING! Love Dr. Northrup!!! Her writings kept me sane!
Agreed!! Thanks for mentioning!!!
I was on the Estradiol patch for about 10 years..just this last month I stopped and I’m going to try bioidentical hormones. (Had to stop for a month for my lab work to see exactly what I needed and boy, it’s been a rough month..lol.)
I'm so interested in BHRT and rhythmic HRT too
The estradiol patch is bio identical.
I just started BHRT pellets. I can already feel a difference and I haven’t even hit my goal levels yet.
I pick up my prescriptions tomorrow and I can’t wait…
What is it called
I started at 38 and fully menopausal at 49. On HRT for 4 years now and would never go back. My symptoms started with anxiety and heavy periods and acne and sleep disturbances.
Brain fog and daily headaches for over two years! It is so unbelievable to me there is not more mainstream information about this -- particularly from primary care physicians, and even obgyns!
Dr. Peter Attia did a great podcast on HRT with the authors of the book Estrogen Matters. Well worth a listen
Oh! i will listen this weekend! thank you!!!
It's awful!
That’s why I’m researching as well. My mom had dementia & it’s scary & heartbreaking. 😢
I’ve been on it for three years. It has saved my sanity! Worth every penny.
Its the sanity for me!!!
How do I get it
Me too! Best thing I ever did. No more hot flashes and sleeping so much better. Wish I had done it sooner
At least we know now!
You need to be on good supplements before you start any treatment. To support your system.
