He's a stuntman. He is not accustomed to death and violence but he is very used to being in life or death situations and reacts as such. Quickly and does whatever he can to ensure his survival.
I heard an explanation that the character is on the Autistic spectrum leaning towards Sociopathy, hence the lack of dialogue he has during the whole of the film, he's certainly not overly expressive or emotive, even when he is bonding with his neighbour and her son.
Brutal and violent, but I must say great direction. I like the timing of the long look and slow recess of Gosling's face into the shadow post shooting.
Throwing the mattress in front of the door saved his life. Gave our protagonist enough time to deal with assailant #1, and then turn around and blast assailant #2 to kingdom come.

Maybe he was a driver in the military.
@@Anunnaki_Gula Well yeah, maybe. There could be any number of explanations, we just don't get any. It's like the movie just makes him good at fighting because it's an action movie and the main character needs to be good at it, even though it's a contradiction of the premise that all he does is drive.
My favourite scene in the film. Exceptionally cinematic.
it would be a dream to see Ryan acting as jacket in a possible adaptation of hotline miami
Directed by the director of the Raid movies.
this movie is so unbelievably underrated
He handled the recoil of that shockwave pretty well.
A bit of the old ultra violence. Lovely.
Easily one of Ryan Goslings best roles 🔥
This film reminds me so much of my time in Brazil 🎉
XDDDDD
Brutal and violent, but I must say great direction. I like the timing of the long look and slow recess of Gosling's face into the shadow post shooting.
This film was unexpectedly amazing!!! 🙌🏿🙌🏿
Was really a nice movie ,the dreamy armosphere the action driving and killing
0:32 ryan threatens her to hit the notification bell
The perfect piece of cinema.
I loved gosling character he is clearly an absolute psycho but loves that woman and the kid and wants a life with them
i never got this scene. like is he checking out a dead mans clappers? Crazy gosling. just babes in this world.
Throwing the mattress in front of the door saved his life. Gave our protagonist enough time to deal with assailant #1, and then turn around and blast assailant #2 to kingdom come.
I watched this originally at home, but then I had the opportunity to watch it at a theater that put it on, and let me tell you - that shotgun blast is LOUD on a theater sound system. I knew it was coming and I still almost jumped out of my seat when it hit.
And from this one little scene, Hotline Miami was born.
I love it when the driver has to get involved. Violence to the maxx.
Very artistic amplifying the shotgun blasts, just like the cereal box scene in 'Kill Bill'.
I remember I was 9 when this came out and this scene came out of nowhere and scared the hell out of me.
i really appreciate how long these clips are
I can see why Hotline Miami drew a lot of inspiration from this film.
The director of this should make a hotline Miami spinoff
He was just a really dangerous man trying to be good but failing still because of the people and situations he continued choosing to be part of.
He wanted to be happy but consequences keep reaching him.
One of my favorite films🙂🔥🔥
It was a cool experience to star the film
I remember filming this scene. Literally me and the rest of the cast worked really hard on it.
