I have a 924 and it is an absolute gem of a car. So much fun and extremely cheap. If you have the opportunity to drive or buy one jump on it. There is no car better than a Porsche.
Surprised you didn't talk about the 924GTP winning its class at Le Mans and finishing 7th overall with an engine half its competitors size. Or how the 944 was awarded best handling car in 84. Maybe some "Porsche purist" shun us, but you can't deny how good the 914 and 944 era cars are. I had a guy in a 90s M3 turbo follow me in the canyons one time. When I got into town he followed me all the way to the store just to tell me how badass he thought my 44 was
@@pepelapew2724 Yep, I would still love an air cooled 911, mostly for the sound, but they drive likes pigs compared to the 914 and 944. The 924GTP is pretty much a 944. Even the 924 S is the same in terms of the body just doesnt have flush fenders. The 944 is underpowered but Ive always said its enough power to have fun but not enough to get you in serious trouble. Swap in a S2 or 968 motor and its a really amazing car.
I have an 87 928 S4 black with plum interior and an 89 guards red with all black interior. I’m obsessed with these cars and most of the transaxle cars. I personally think that’s was the era that made porsche what it is today. I’ll never let of those two cars go. Ricco
“Best sell sports car in the world”, “Most advanced sports car of its time”, “European Car of the Year; an honor no other Porsche has been awarded since” but starts the video with “Funkiest times in Porsche’s history”. These were great cars why does always Porsche dismiss them?
What actually determines if a vehicle is a transaxle? The 911, 912, 914 etc are all technically transaxles. The transmission and drive axle is all one unit in all of them. They don’t have a transmission that drives a separate axle like a traditional front engine rear wheel drive car. The 924, 944, 968 and 928 all use a torque tube to transmit the power to the rear where the transmission and axle which are one unit just like the 911 and 914 have with the only exception being that the 911 and 914 have their transmissions bolted directly to the engine. Unless a transaxle has to be front engine and rear wheel drive they’re all transaxles.
Definitely and for far too many years they were too little appreciated. I've had 924, 944 and 928 S (all in the 80's) and I can't praise the models enough. They were amazing and it's really nice that car enthusiasts are focusing on these models again :)
Awesome video. I own a 944 S2 for 3 1/2 years and it still awesome. It’s such an underrated sportscar. I don’t want to switch to an 911 because the 944 is in general the better sportscar because of better weight balance.
Big E it certainly is, my first car at 16, 16 years ago! Time for another! I think I’m going to make it a nice daily and upgrade and tinker with a few things but stock as possible.
@@lucasclift3196 that is so cool. A 1984 944 was my first car too!!! Then I traded it in for a 1985. I'll be honest the maintenance on a credit card put me in debt at that age but not too bad. Happy Thanksgiving!
The transaxle comment confused me for a while. I was so distracted trying to figure out the difference between a transaxle and a transaxle where the engine isn't attached.
Hey Porsche, nice video! Can you make one about the aircooled era? I would like to know what models still are collectors items and sought after and what makes them so desirable. Keep up the great work! ✌️🏎
What I think Porsche should do is that they should make a transaxle V8 model that is a direct successor to the 924, 928,944 and 968 because if porsche brought back the transaxle model I think the public would like to see another car like the 968 CS
I’ve driven a FRS. It handles like the 944 but a tad better and it’s about as fast as a 944 S2. I still would rather drive my 968. The owner of the FRS drove mine and he thinks it handles smoother than the FRS.
Yeah there’s maybe less than 3000 left in continental US alone. I’ve only seen 8 other 968s other than mine but that’s because I’m in Southern California. There’s too many Porsche enthusiasts here.
@@ricksays7133 "too many porsche enthusiasts" is not a thing I thought I would hear. I've seen a few 968s for sale in the northeast. Usually $15-20k. Really uncommon here, and I dont think ive ever see one in person

Still miss my 944. Best car I ever owned, had it 7 years and it never let me down
they keep going up up up $####
Cool but if there would be some light, we could also see the models ...
the effects team gotta chill.
i liked the effects and for most of the models there was a decent amount of time without effects

The 968 and 928 are two of my all time favourite Porsches
928 is by far my favorite
And what a great video! Amazing production
i love the 928 and 968 style so much
Great video. I had a 924s that I really loved. Now I have a 986 ..... Porsche forever.
Absolutely love the Top 5 Series.
Keep it up ;)
Porsche needs another 944 turbo
The 924, 944, 968 is one of the best handing machine in the Porsche. Fun to drive in 70s~90s.
Very very good cars that are finally getting the recognition they deserve.
One of my favorite cars was the 1989 951 with driver and passenger air bags.. Pretty awesome for the time.

I love Porsche classic cars I prefer instead of the newer ones
I wish Porsche would bring back a front engined transaxle like the 968 but styled more towards the 944 with a 2.0l dohc 16v turbo 4 cylinder.
Pretty sure that shot of the exhaust during the 928 bit is the 944 Turbo or S2 😉
Yep!
Can these come back?
The Audi-Porsche, the 924, was made in Neckersolm, Germany. Next to Heilbronn. That was an Audi factory.

Tatsuya Shima Completely Agree!

Love the 928...completely forgot about the 968 model.

The 928 GTS model shown in this video has 350 Hp and not 240hp like in the first ones!
