- Epson EcoTank printers can be an asset to any tattoo studio when creating tattoo stencils, but when they block or print out weak stencils it can be infuriating! Don't panic because this video will solve all your printing issues. Firstly covering why stencil printers block, then covering the main fixes and if all else fails, I'm going to show you a really simple hack which will get you printing out your tattoo stencils strong and bold in no time at all! No more weak and faded tattoo stencils!

you just saved me from a crisis lol. i appreciate this video more than i can say. subbed and look forward to more content in the future. despite everything i tried i couldnt get the printer to print a stencil at all. flushing the cartridge quickly solved this issue. thanks so much again.

Love the quality these inkjet printers produce for stencils. I previously had a Monochromatic version of this (black-only) and left it sitting for too long thus clogging the print heads. I’m in the market for a new one now and might actually go with one that has colour tanks instead - based on the way you were troubleshooting this problem it seems the other print heads dedicated to the colour tanks can be used as back ups for when the black one inevitably begins to clog.
My question to you is: do all the tanks need to have ink in-order for this printer to print?

Hi Jono, what preventative maintenance would you suggest so that this issue doesn't arrive in the first place? Just topping off the tank when ever it gets down to half full? Also, how many bottles of ink does it take to fill all the tanks?
I'm just about ready to buy this product in a bundle and it's expensive for me so the information provided really helps. This printer would save me so much time vs my thermal printer. Thanks for answering in advance!
I wouldn't leave the printer stood too long without using it, by that i mean if you're not busy never leave it a few weeks. Always run some stencils off to keep things flowing. A bottle of stencil ink will completely fill the black tank and should 1/2 fill the 3 colour tanks.

Good day! I want to get an eco printer but I'm concerned that if I don't use the printer at least once a week, the ink will dry up in the tubes. Will your cleaning methods work or would you advise I clean the printer after every use? Thanks to anyone who can give up an answer

Do you use all your tanks pretty frequently? I see some videos of people putting enough in the colored tanks just to “trick” the machine they are filled. I just got mine and trying to make it last as long as possible
I mostly have the black filled but keep the colour ones topped up so there’s some ink in them. I use mine 5 days a week.
Hi, I got an Epson EcoTank M2120 monochrome, tried to initialize it with stencil ink and didn’t work from the start, or sometimes printing some faded pages. I eventually cleaned the tank and added black ink to see if the issue is with the printer as it was new and it worked. Any tips on if I can eventually make it work?
What paper do y’all use? My inkjet is too thick to put them on the body well
Have you used the printer cleaner sheets? I used them to revive my old HP office jet all in one. It was having issues even with the normal cleaning method via the printer menus and fresh ink cartridges. They are soaked in cleaning solution and it runs through like paper to clean the heads.
I'm saving up for a monochromatic ecojet.

The issue that we keep having is the ink pads filling quickly even if we aren’t doing power cleanings or cleaning the heads. even when we replace the inkpad tanks it still isn’t working.

Hi mate, may be a silly question but can you use normal printer ink for stencils? £90 a bottle for the purple ink is crazy.
Unfortunately no, a normal printer won't print stencils. You need an eco tank printer which needs to be filled with stencil ink.
I want to switch to this printer from brother, my question is, if I dont print like a week or two, will the ink dry on the pies?
Can I use an „old“ Ecotank printer (which was used with normal printing ink) or does it have to be brand new one that has never been in contact with normal paper ink?
Maybe put stencil ink and than print several prints, so the normal ink is gone?
Hey man love the video...what kind of paper are you using? I've been having a problem with it bunching & not feeding or crinkling halfway through. Everything's clean rollers & such. Any help would be appreciated thanks.
I’m using the InkJet Stencil brand. It comes in a pack of 500 a4 sheets and works really well. I usually get it from Barber DTS in the UK.
Get Pacon stencil paper 500 sheets they sell it on Amazon for about $30 you will need to buy a paper cutter and chop about half an inch so it can fit through the printer feed.
Do you use photoshop filter or print picture as it is?
So when power cleaning, do you fill up the other tanks with stencil ink as well? You mention that they need to be 1/3 filled but did not say what you use. I have been using an Epson ET 2720, it was working great for a long time until I forgot to refill the BK tank. Since then it has not printed properly, I have used a cleaning solution and kit for the printer head and nozzle, and made sure that the ink can flow smoothly from the tank to the damper. It still prints incredibly weak, so I believe I should do the power clean to hopefully fix this? pls help!

What do you mean the solution will come out through the bottom? Will it come out from the end of the tube while cleaning it? I just don’t want to mess my printer up , so I want to know where exactly to put paper towels at.

i have the same printer but i have trouble trying to get the size of the stencil paper to line up w the printer. do you know the right size that needs to be set to?
It should be standard A4 size.
I installed a new printer today. but I immediately get vague stencils when I print I don't understand what I'm doing wrong maybe you know what's going wrong or what I can do. greetings
a head cleaning (no more than 3) and then some bleed pages (solid black pages, but purple for the stencil you know) fixes mine!
had my mono printer little over a year now, got the gentian violet ($7 versus 100 or more) and it worked great but when I refilled it, I thought I broke the thing. ran a print head cleaning a few times got nowhere. sat all over youtube looking and came across sublimation printer repairs. bleed pages fixed my problem after a few solid purple pages, it fixed and was running darker than ever!
Girl mines is so clogged it nothing shows up on the page I need helpppp
@@simonecartier4880 i ran a head cleaner, then like 10 bleed pages non stop lol. It straightened out that way! Also a bit of rubbing alcohol in with the ink apparently!

Can tattoo transfer ink be applied to epson l130 printer?
So I just bought an ecotank printer I seen in your first video to equally fill all tanks black and color equally. In thus video I seen you only had the black filled is that ok?
There is colour in my tanks, it’s just low at the moment. It’s probably best to space the ink out between them, then you can use the hack if it gets blocked or prints faint.

Been using the basic brother until I've switched to ecotank, on blue spirit and red s8 paper. Works like a charm once you've got a feeling for the sweet spot of density and amount of black in the stencil
today i had to update the drivers, and printer actually recognizes the red, and it prints so bad with excess ink, I tried manny options, but it seems for now I will have to do it with the black n grey option
Hi, what did you use to transfer the stencil onto your fake skin? I can seem to get my stencil to stick to real of fake skin.
Did you figure it out? I use stencil stuff but it goes on so faint compared to thermal prints.

I probably wouldn't recommend normal colour ink as even though you might only use colour the black tank will still be utilised when printing. Thanks for watching!!
I did this and ruined the printer. even if you print in just black, the printer uses dark blue printer ink and other colors. So you will dilute your stencil by putting regular printer ink in the colored tanks. Found this out the hard way

Use rex instead black isnt a fix, btw i like the video, plan to get l3210, but i will use stencil only in black, and regular colors for the 3 others, then use the printer for both, stencil ink in black tank, and regular print with 3 regular colors, using the option to create black mixing 3 colors, better than have 2 printers
I have the Epson 2803 model and all of the ink that’s coming onto the stencil paper is not all stencil ink. Some of the ink is actual printer ink. I drained the cartridges and the tubes, but that did not help.
It’s probably going to take a lot of rinsing through if it’s previously been used as a standard printer.
I'm having trouble transferring to practice skin after printing. No matter what ratio of stencil stuff I use it seems to go on much fainter than real skin. Any advice? Thanks!
use a stick deodorant, like old spice
@@lucaslemes8349 I actually tried that! But the lines bleed pretty bad. So I put it on super thin, but then it was no better than the stencil stuff. What's the magic formula?

@@Xplorer228 have you tried to put some weight on it, and wait at least 1 hour to settle ? when i practice on fake skin, i put the stencil the day before, and take it off in the morning.

I got a canon pixma G4210 would this work to print with inkjet ink?
If it’s got an ink tank you can manually fill then I see no reason why it wouldn’t work.

Hey mate, I was having same problem too, what solved my problem was to go to print preferences and selecting Photo Paper Glossy on the paper type. I am also using Inject stencil paper, they are the best. I hope it will help you.

Stencil is printing strong images. my problem is when I put to skin, it doesn't transfer all the details and are so faded. 😢
What paper and stencil solution are you using?
Use the stencil solution made for this stuff. Our stencil still come out weak, but the stencil solution is a game changer. Brings more out a weak stencil than you would imagine.
Hey man do you fill all 4 tanks with stencil ink. ??? I'm confused. And if I've accidentally put colours in xan I pour them out and still use stencil ink or am I fukt.???
You can fill all the tanks with stencil ink if you want to it won't really harm anything. You might be struggling if you've added colour ink in the tanks. Hopefully you haven't tried to print anything yet with the colour added. I would just run a load of plain A4 paper through it with different designs to try clear it if it's not printing properly
@@JonoSmithTattoo ive put stencil ink where the black should be. Now its working ok. I might not use the colour ones or try and clean them. 1 more thing is my paper won't go thru very easy. Can I get thicker transfer paper.????
@@Max-dm3vg i only use the original Inkjet stencil paper. I find it works the best. Its about £30 for 500 sheets but well worth it.

I want to edit this as tattoo stencil printer.I emptied the CMYK dyes inside.I then filled the BK reservoir with INKDRAW ink. But it doesn't output. He gives blank paper. It does not draw ink into the chamber. What can I do. I also wrote to you on Instagram. I hope you come back

I had same problem with second hand one, then bought new one and still have the same problem 🤣🤣
I can't find anything about using stencil ink inside the Cyan tank and make my designs pure 100% Cyan color so the printer have to use the Cyan tank filled with stencil ink.
And use the black color in the BLK tank so I can print normal stuff for me and my kids.
Mine bled on all the patterns and it wouldn’t ever work right

There's no junk in the bottom of your gas tank. The fuel lubricates and cooles the motor on the fuel pump. Low fuel no lubrication and more heat which causes your fuel pump to burn out. But junk on the bottom of the tank sounds good to me. I get the point.
I hate how the paper feeds in from the top, it always gets jammed… and eventually gets broke..
then the eco tank that feeds from the bottom tray doesn’t have air print… anyone have suggestions???

what you have to say.... the stencils from the Eco Tank just go away too quickly.... print quality is good, no question.... but it doesn't last long.... Spirit stencil paper delivers here.... better
I’ve never had a problem with them fading to be honest. I’ve used pretty much all mediums and found these to be great with Electrum Gold primer. Granted you’ll never get stencil like you will with good old hectograph paper but the time I save with these is worth the trade off. Thanks for watching!

@@JonoSmithTattoo Cheers, I just keep having a massive dramas with one of them brother machines and the cheap one with the red n blue button. Only reliability is to draw my stencils but its so tine consuming.
Yeah I’ve used all these ones in the past but I’ll stick with this method for the foreseeable future just because of the time saved.
@@andyhowden7655 if you look into monochromatic ecotanks (black & white).. that's where it's at. Just make sure that it supports whatever software you're using.. MAC android windows etc.. 1 tank to fill.. after you put stencil ink in it.. its basically a dedicated printer for stencils

It will only print in the purple stencil ink you fill the tanks with.

Shit hand stenciling is wayyyy too much work. Lol spend an hour drawing before even tattooing get burnt out before you even start!!
