Great video man. I’ve been tattooing over 20 years now. I’ve used a few of these before. Most of the time I just put my stencil on with green soap. If you keep your hands off your stencil it will just fine. So if your really on a budget you don’t need any of these.
Hey, great video! I've been tattooing for over 20 years, and just like everyone back in the day, I've used speed stick many times. It works, but I was pretty happy to find other options. I've used Stencil Stuff, and Dettol in the past and really liked both of them. But if you're really talking bang for your buck, good old green soap is never a bad option. I spray it on, apply the stencil, give it 5-10 minutes to dry, and seldom have any issues. May not be the best option for everyone, but that's the great thing about having so many different products, there's something for everyone. If nothing else, it's just another tool to have in your tool box. If you run out of your regular stencil solution, there's always a backup! Anyway, great video, great information. Thanks for sharing this. You got a new sub.
I am really glad that you showed how to apply some of the products using a paper towel to prevent cross-contamination! For beginners (probably at home) they would not find those things out until some time later. You have saved some people for sure! Thanks for the great comparison video!

I normally apply it to the spot, place the stencil, then immediately I take a full dry paper towel and firmly press it against the stencil for about half the time I apply the stencil, then let it air dry for about 10-20min. The stencil stays on for the entire session with wet wipes. Pretty good method when u r on a budget. Thanks for sharing the other solutions as well. Very good insight on them all
Electrum does need more time, like 10-15 minutes but then that will not come off. I do color realism so lots of wiping and this is the best product I've ever tried.

But with that said I will look into trying out some other ink brands and types, in hopes to bring some valuable info to those looking for the "best" ink to use. And thank you Colbycheese for the support we really appreciate it! 🤘🤘
Wozzz Up Dave? Just came across ur chanel and after looking até some vids i'd like 2 comgratulate u 4 ur approach. 'bout the choices u've got u should try KY Gel and compare ;) I'm a portuguese tattoo artist for 29 yrs and, in the begginig i used stick stencil or stick deodorant then it came dettol (great stuff). 'round 94/95, in london my mentor showed me the best stencil transfer: KY Gel (plenty to talk 'bout this one, ...) Since then my procedure is: i'll start with dettol to clean the area before shavig and at the end (time), i'll clean it once aggain with dettol. At this point i'll cut the stencil (time) to size and get Back to apply a tyni bit of KY Gel, leave to rest (time) and booomm.. drop the stencil, apply some presure. Now theres no need for wait for it to dry. That happened during the process ;) I'll assure u that stencil stays crisp and strong till the next day ;) Fun part is i Getúlio to rub yall with KY Gel and, can u just imagine their faces when i grab the (s)cream :D
I know this is an older video, but just thought I'd say that Dettol is a household staple in the UK, it's used (diluted - it's not recommended for use on wounds undiluted, I'm not sure about on unbroken skin that is then tattooed on, I would think if itxs left to sit for 15 minutes after applying the stencil before tattooing starts the it would likely be ok) as an antiseptic for cleaning minor wounds and such, so it'd be pulling double duty if using it for the stencil. It's also obviously not as expensive here, I can get 750ml for £3.85. It actually really surprised me how well it worked. So I think for anyone who lives in the UK (or other countries where it's more readily available for cheaper), if they check how it goes using it undiluted on unbroken skin first, then it probably goes to the top 2 of the list. I'd probably allergy test it prior to using on skin your going to tattoo especially if you live somewhere that people don't typically use it. And, honestly, the scent of it might put some people off lol it does linger. If you found that it was still working well after a good test run, then perhaps you could see if you have an equivalent product in the US with the same ingredients for cheaper. I hope your model knows how much we appreciate her sacrifice & time in these types of vids, I can imagine scrubbing off the remains of the stencils wasn't fun.
They are both different as the bronc comes with batteries and is wireless out of the box while it doesnt have the adjustable stroke like the P6, so it may come down to what you are looking for. I should have another vid about the new Bronc wireless V2 coming out in a couple of weeks as well. Hope this helps and best of luck on your decision Darin.
I saw someone use Hibiclens as a stencil stuff too. (It's the stuff you see the surgeon put on his hands & arms before a procedure) It's pretty expensive -8oz. for $10... I use it to clean the skin but it does dry sticky so I may try it out some time. All & all, great video brother. Very interesting & informative!
That sounds pretty cool. Youll have to let us know how it goes when/if you try it out. And thank you Graffics, you always have some solid info to share and its much appreciated. Keep being awesome brother and Keep Rocking!!🤘🤘🤘

Hey Dave, thanks for all the videos they have helped me tremendously!! Was wondering if you can touch on iPads, the different versions and if worth paying to help with tattoo designs. It’s hard to pull that trigger when they are like $1,000. Thanks man. Keep rocking and spreading the knowledge!
brilliant experiment! thankfully i saw your recommendation for stencil stuff in a different video and got off the speed stick pretty early on lmao i got a couple fucked up tattoos from stencils that smeared off with the deodorant stuff
i normally use speed stick and other local stencil solution brands here in my country and normally give it a 10-15mins drying time after that it's kinda hard to wipe off sometimes when i'm done with the tattoo there's still stencil marks from the speedstick. hope this gives feedback since 5mins drying time i think is kinda short but it all depends on the tattoo design/size i guess. again thanks for the knowledge :)
Since over 20 years I tell my clients, if they want to know what this purple is … it is Methyl Violet … a high toxic chemical which can produce cancer. Read about it in the internet if you like to know more . It is in that waxy stencil paper and the thermo paper as well. Spaulding sold it in small bottles as fluid for making stencils with a caligraphy pen . Also it is in the stencil fluid for the new realistic printers out there. Some tattooers paint with brushes directly to the skin. What I think is that you should use this toxic stuff as minimal as possible as there is no otherSolution to make better or equal stencils . From Germany … thanx for this nice video . And if I am totally wrong ..tell me …
I was really hoping you would get into the science part of it and what chemical compositions of products and whatever works the best so we could find possibly other products with ingredients that work across the board

From my personal experience I've been tattooing with anchored for around 4 years. It's been my most consistent and long lasting. I like it more than stencil stuff which is what I used prior.
I've been tattooing since 1998 in the UK here's a mixture an old guy showed me -stencil fluid - 50% dettol 10% green soap top up with water, in a spray bottle, I even knew a few guys who would boil down a Speed Stick and add a little to that mixture, I guess the fancy brands are trying to replicate a mixture from this recipe, btw Dettol has castor oil in it my guess is the binder is the oil that makes it sticky, Speed Stick has too many other chemicals in it for my liking, has anyone tried natural gum Arabic?

But with that said I will look into trying out some other ink brands and types, in hopes to bring some valuable info to those looking for the "best" ink to use. And thank you Colbycheese for the support we really appreciate it! 🤘🤘
You're awesome man keep on keepin on
Wozzz Up Dave? Just came across ur chanel and after looking até some vids i'd like 2 comgratulate u 4 ur approach. 'bout the choices u've got u should try KY Gel and compare ;)
I'm a portuguese tattoo artist for 29 yrs and, in the begginig i used stick stencil or stick deodorant then it came dettol (great stuff). That happened during the process ;) I'll assure u that stencil stays crisp and strong till the next day ;)
Fun part is i Getúlio to rub yall with KY Gel and, can u just imagine their faces when i grab the (s)cream :D
We watch the ads on your vids all the way through, we don’t skip them 😉
Dang now that is what I call support and I Truly appreciate the solid support Shadow!🤘🤘🙏🙏🙏🤘🤘
From experience Anchored by Nikko Hurtado is number 1, nothing beats it. Coupled with quality transfer paper
@@ArtSomething also let us know how long it took to completely get all of the stencils washed off & which stayed on the longest
Hoping you have an update on this it sounds interesting!
Thanks bro you are very informative may you be blessed in many ways my friend
My 1st reaction to stencil gel I was mind blown 🤯 but then wen the wet hit it I was like omg 😱 but I stink I’ll stink to stencil stuff .
Great vid man! As you I’m used to Stencil Stuff and really like it, but you’ve made me very curious about Dettol. Especially since Dettol have many tat products, I think I’d better give it a shot and find out more about their assortment. 👍🙏
Thank you so much for this in depth video ! 😭🗣️ It was awesome & needed!! ❤
I’ve always went with stencil stuff I’ve used spirit it was decent no issues never got around to try dettol but always heard it works great and I started off with speed stick
my god your beard is just getting more magical everytime I see it, rip trippers got nothing on that beard!
keep the great videos coming buddy
thank you brother!!🤘🙏! Rip tripper heck it’s been a while I’ll have to go see how he’s doing these days. And THANK YOU again Rellik always great to hear from you my friend !! 🤘💪👊🤘
@@ArtSomething I'm hoping you could drop by the streams, we almost at 1k too so I'm pretty proud of that goal. Thanks for inspiring me and giving me courage to try to do it.
Love this channel. Every question I have answered as I learn more. Thank you
Best video on UA-cam i seen for comparison
In our shop we use Electrum and stencil stuff both are way different Electrum is really thick and stencil stuff not so much I prefer stencil stuff. Glad your keeping with it!!! Great commitment I still watch your videos but now that I am on my journey tattoo clients I’m so busy so find it hard to get on here and comment thank you again! remember watching your videos hoping to get an apprenticeship and practicing on fake skin lol
Good to hear you shop is using some solid products as both seemed to perform really well. And I deff noticed that electrum was thicker and stickier, it may work great for stencils that are wrapping around a body part as its seemed pretty sticky but I have found that stencil stuff is a great product and it hasn't let me down yet. I understand the busy thing brother with that said THANK you for the support youve shown and its really AWESOME to see how far you have taken yourself. Hard work always pays off so congrats again brother!!! 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘 And KEEP ROCKING IT!
Thanks man, this was super helpful
Im gonna try dettol for a while now
Hey Dave! I've been following your channel and videos for about a month now and I love your content! You're so helpful.
I'd love it if you could make a video critiquing and offering advice to tattoos that your subscribers have done on themselves! I've done several and would love your input
I've been always use dettol in a spray bottle mix with water and it does wonder u can wipe and wipe and doesn't go away so I stick with it for 11 years and does it work for me
Do another on best product to take stencil off,for when repositioning 👍
Dettol. This sold me on buying it. Its the smell though.
Finally someone made this video shout out! 2 this guy!
Great video love the review on stencil stuff's going to try a few different ones now myself, I have a cheeper carbon paper so I'm wondering how it will hold up🤞😉👍
Thank you Al really appreciate that. Great to hear you want to try a few out as thats the best way to find what works best for you. Not sure about the carbon paper but I use Spirit Classic Thermal transfer paper. Best of luck my friend and thank you for watching and supporting the channel.🤘🤘
@@ArtSomething I've watched all your videos and picked up some great tips on how to do different things , shading etc, you do a great job I know channel growth is important I'm trying to grow my own keep up the great work
😜 me too
What about stencil slime? I love this video cause I get so frustrated and almost have an anxiety attack when stencil wipes off🥴
Awesome video I have been using speed stick for a few years , mostly because it works lol. But I wet my paper towels with 90% rubbing alcohol it seems to help. I'm for sure getting a bottle of detail asap.
I would like to see the top 5 for a 15minute dry time.
blow dryer on cool air makes stencils dry fast
Great video. Found more products to try outside of stencil stuff .
Just wondering what stencil paper you use?
Love your vids.... keep an coming.. great work.
Great video. But have u seen those stencil videos they apply a stencil the run a wet towel to apply. Do u happen to know what it is.
brilliant experiment! thankfully i saw your recommendation for stencil stuff in a different video and got off the speed stick pretty early on lmao i got a couple fucked up tattoos from stencils that smeared off with the deodorant stuff
i normally use speed stick and other local stencil solution brands here in my country and normally give it a 10-15mins drying time after that it's kinda hard to wipe off sometimes when i'm done with the tattoo there's still stencil marks from the speedstick. hope this gives feedback since 5mins drying time i think is kinda short but it all depends on the tattoo design/size i guess. again thanks for the knowledge :)
Totally taking credit for mentioning dettol last time!! 🥳🙌 Great video dude!!
Hereeeee again bro keep it up🥳
Thank you Michaelangelo!!! REALLY appreciate the support my friend!! Keep Rocking!! 🤘🤘🤘
I appreciate you making this video. Thank you.
Dettol is pretty dope in my opinion but never used anything else cheers for the vid
Great video ,can you also do one but with the s8 stencil paper so we can know if there is any other stencil solution that works with it
Thank you for this coz I was just wondering this the other day! 🤘🥰
I only use dettol let it dry for a while and ait coming off and here in South Africa detools costs R65 or 4.62 dollars for 500 ml
And if I am totally wrong ..tell me …
Excelente video!, Saludos desde Buenos Aires
Thank you Adrian really appreciate that my friend! 🤘🤘🤘🤘
Thank you for this video! I'm also learning the works and your videos really help, keep up the great work!
I was really hoping you would get into the science part of it and what chemical compositions of products and whatever works the best so we could find possibly other products with ingredients that work across the board
Nice video keep up the good work, im a tattoo artist my self and i love watching these type of videos , i would suggest try using Super stencil from Ez tattoos they are a great brand works way better then stencil stuff in my opinion also instead of greensoap use dettol🤟🏽
Thank you Marley and I will have to take a look at Super stencil as im always down to try something new. And thank you for watching and supporting the channel🤘🤘
I have to ask, when you say you use Medicide instead of green soap. First when you say Medicide do you mean the aerosol or do you mean Madicide? Secondly are you saying that you use it as a surface disinfectant or that you use it to disinfect the skin?
Stencil stuff all day 💯❤️
the Dettol had me in shock. i am buying 2 bottles of that.
Me to really shocked to see it work so well and so quickly.
Used too much electrum, only need a drop for a stencil that size, I use electrum everyday and it’s the best IMO.
here in india we (most of tattoo artists) use LOX 2% jelly. works better than Stencil stuff. i never tried dettol but will surely give it a try now.
Thanks for choosing essential values product. My Wife is pretty good at researching the tattoo products she bought me. She is pretty good at stretching money and getting the best but spending the least. I always get great weed in the mail because she always searching online for the best weeds prices as well. lmfao!
Your wife is on point brother as Essential values made a really great product at a great price. And weed mailed the house, I need to up my game lol!! Thanks again brother always great to hear from you. KEEP ROCKING!!🤘🤘🤘🤘
cool video..i use stencil stuff, but that Dettol really surprised me!
Same
Did you dilute the Dettol at all?
also interested because diluted version smears fake skin horribly
Great info, Dettol was a big surprise
From my personal experience I've been tattooing with anchored for around 4 years. It's been my most consistent and long lasting. I like it more than stencil stuff which is what I used prior.
Anchored is very good
Dettol Def looks like the best
Dettol is the only thing I use, cheap we get it for that size bottle £3 (about $5) lasts well and I like the smell,
I've been tattooing since 1998 in the UK here's a mixture an old guy showed me -stencil fluid - 50% dettol 10% green soap top up with water, in a spray bottle, I even knew a few guys who would boil down a Speed Stick and add a little to that mixture, I guess the fancy brands are trying to replicate a mixture from this recipe, btw Dettol has castor oil in it my guess is the binder is the oil that makes it sticky, Speed Stick has too many other chemicals in it for my liking, has anyone tried natural gum Arabic?
Now you,ve got if for a while the solutions, great video,my favorite is Electrum,I use it throuth.I also love to use other product from Electrum, for me,is the best.,cao.
