6:51 One of the worst things about the Greasers is that they always got away with all of the awful things they did and no one could stop them. Even on the rare occasions when they lost, CatDog and the other characters rarely, if ever, came out unscathed, and if someone got the upper hand on them, the Greasers always managed to turn things in their favor and win anyway. The best way to not make antagonistic characters too despicable is to make sure that they never, ever win. This, primarily, is why Squidward and Mr. Krabs worked so much better as antagonists; any attempts they made to confound SpongeBob and his friends always backfired and they ultimately became victims of their own doing(This was most notable in such episodes as Naughty Nautical Neighbors, Employee of the Month and One Krab's Trash). One candidate I might likewise might put forth as an honorable mention for worst episode is The Golden Hydrant as it was just one long running bathroom joke(But that didn't stop there from being a video game based on it. Oh no.) XC
This used to be one of my favorite shows when I was a kid. I rewatched a couple episodes a while back and was shocked by how utterly mean-spirited it actually was; I don't remember it feeling that way at all.
I used to love CatDog as A kid but as I got older & i bought the first season on iTunes I started not to like it & when Mr Enter reviewed this series in 2019 I started to hate this show
I love catdog! Especially cat played by our Oso favorite, Jim cummings! In fact there's a lot of great talent on the show with Billy West and Tom Kenny the name a few! I do admit that the show did have a mean-spirited feel to poor cat only because dog rarely ever got his comeuppance... but I still enjoy the show and even bought the box set! I really enjoyed its theatrical short with good burger and still love the series to this day❤
CatDog I think is just fine. I feel the level of Mean is overblown by some as it was goofy enough for me to get through it fine when I re-watched through it a whole back. Poparena gave me more appreciation for it honestly. My issue is that it's mostly standard and usually doesn't add too much new to the formula. My easy least favorite was Tresspassing while my favorite was the silent episode. It's fine, more to like than given credit for but nothing great either. The production history really put a target on it lol.
I don't care what people say about CatDog, for me it is one of the best nicktoons in my opinion. It was funny and trippy than it had any rights to be imo.
The dialogue is a major reason why I’ve been watching this. The scripts are snappy and witty, and Tom and (especially) Jim deliver! Also I love the MC’s facial expressions! And watching them squash and stretch is a treat.
Great and well-thought-out review! CatDog was one of my favorite childhood shows growing up. And while I still like it, I won't deny that it hasn't aged well in some aspects. (Particularly the characters) I'd make the argument that SB, Hey Arnold!, & Rocko have aged FAR better nowadays.
To me, cruelty in this hardly turns me off. When you study history and learn of atrocities, what CatDog went through is hardly disgusting or disturbing, no more so than what you learn when learning about black or native american history. I personally saw Rancid as how authority can be cruel and abuse its power to further its greed and convenience. It will abuse those low socially and different either for fun or to reassert power.
Plus with the greasers, it's all too common for bullies to mock those physically and/or mentally different. It's feels real they would mock the weird CatDog and desire to harm them. Again read real history and hate groups are all too real.
I didn’t grew up on the show and only saw a handful of episodes and reviews, so correct me if I’m wrong. Still, there is some upside down kind of wholesomeness to CD, specifically they’re relationship. They fight as all siblings (as well as canines and felines) do, to a more exaggerated cartoony extent. But they have care about each other, and they’re all they got in this messed up town (the series starts with the two of them goofing around together: Dog playing fetch and Cat enjoying the ride). There are even moments when Cat tries to cheer up Dog (Fistful of Mail), as well as realize how much he needs him, and would give up his happiness for his brother. Dog isn’t perfect, and sometimes gets power to his head as well as Cat would (Workforce). Still, he obviously loves Cat and would rather be an outcast than be separated from him (Full Moon Fever’s ending is kinda sweet). Not to mention Lola seems to genuinely care about the boys. In the end, the two are the only people who truly gets each other. If Nick just emphasized the Brotherly Love aspect a little more, I think CD would’ve gotten a bit more respect. Seriously, I didn’t grew up on the show, so I don’t know it well. I just want to express some positive opinions.

There was one episode where Beth and Jerry said they wish they never had Summer? What's the joke? This is just dreary. Everything else I am totally down for. I am a huge fan of American Dad and Family Guy.
@MarioBros12332 I saw the pilot and I think the writing is rather poor. I like the animation and the art direction. I didn't watch the rest of it though. I didn't watch the Amazon series. I will compare it to Gravity Falls. The first episode of Gravity Falls it had a self contained story and teased more to come later. Mabel was kidnapped by the gnomes Dipper saved her and it ended with Stan entering the secret vending machine entrance. Hazbin didn't do that it just kinda ended. I also think the premise makes no sense. How is the Hotel going to save people? Those heckling demons are asking a good question.
CatDog is notable for its cruel humor and bleak setting, with many stories involving bad things happening to characters who don't deserve it, making it one of the more polarizing Nicktoons. Nevertheless, it has a dedicated following of nostalgic fans.

What's with cartoon discussion and listing parts of Wikipedia and tv tropes articles?
3:26 if there wasn’t a lot of fans than why did they make a lot of merchandise out of the show like Rugrats and SpongeBob?
The merchandise was made before the show even came out. Nick wanted it to be a licensing giant right out of the gate but the merch didnt sell well
@@Kemdizzle. just like the CatDog plush from the Nickelodeon store was made in 1998
@@Kemdizzle.so they put CatDog up there with the other cartoons like Rugrats Ren and Stimpy Rocko’s modern life Ahh real monsters Hey Arnold and The Angry Beavers before the show even premiered I mean why would people want to buy merchandise out of CatDog when nobody has seen the show yet they could’ve done the same thing with SpongeBob and it gets even more love
Do aah real monsters next
do you think you can do a review on the entire SpongeBob franchise?
Well he makes Top5 best and worst episodes of each season,Spongecoms and commentary,He reviews episodes of the show a lot,so I don't think there's much need.
@@AngryJack-eh9yj yeah I was expecting him to like Mysterious Mr. Enter a video about the whole SpongeBob franchise and what his thoughts were like Mr. Enter did
Villainos by alan ituriel review eventually.
What is there to like? Easy, the theme song. That’s about it
I love the theme song too, but in general I love catdog a lot imo, the voice acting is golden too, the brotherly love aspects, and some great episodes like brothers day, the collector, the island, dog gone, all you can't eat, workforce, and etc.
@@patcahill3724I didn’t grew up on the show, but the voice acting is fantastic!
Nothing
SpongeBob and Catdog isn't a bad comparison at least it's better then the loud house because spongebob and the loud house are nothing alike each other
I fully agree.
Yeah because for 1 thing lincoln loud is 11 years old 12 in season 5 and spongebob is in his 30s and another thing is that spongebob is a timeless cartoon and the loud house takes place in the modern world we're in right now
Agreed plus SpongeBob is a late 90s cartoon and the loud house is a 2010s modern cartoon
You can compare SpongeBob and CatDog with Rocko’s modern life mainly because of Tom Kenny
This show was around when I stopped watching Nickelodeon.
What if CatDog was created by John Kricfalusi
Catdog: A snowflake's review 😂
Seriously, you're Mr. Enter 2.0. (Not a compliment)
You’re wrong
No, it's actually much better than Enter's review. Plus Mr. Enter sucks imo.
He has nothing to do with Mr.Enter.
@@SparklingWithNiGHTS-yv5fe Except being a total doppelganger of cringe
@@Burns_RED Dude...Dude !
EAM has nothing to do with Enter, they are both cartoon reviewers of completely different from each other. They both follow different video styles and themes,Million is not aggressively negative (or cringe) like Mr.Enter and he tries to dig deeper and tries to see the more positive side of things,Try to see what doesn't work in a show and what doesn't unlike Enter which already trashes everything easily and he doesn't waste all his time making Animated Atrocities videos of random cartoons everytime and instead he makes retrospectives, personal videos and historical reviews.
I recommend you watch more videos of it to find out how it works and the obvious difference between EAM and Enter.
CatDog wasn't a good show. The characters and bleak setting were awful and there was literally garbage in every scene.
I disagree. I think it's an awesome cartoon. I see why people hate it though.
I know CatDog is not everyone’s favorite show but in the mid 2000s specifically after Avatar we got a lot of bad cartoons like Barnyard and Fan boy and chum chum for examples
@@NathanielCanty-wp7fp I like Fanboy and Chum Chum too I don't think it's bad either.
@@oggy1261 everybody has different opinions but CatDog was made during the golden age of Nicktoons and Nickelodeon in general
@LordRayken you have no childhood
