Recess was just a homerun for me. I loved it as a kid and when I found it again as a 6th grader with my buddies. I started looking at it again just for a nostalgic smile 😊😊😊. Thank you for this wonderful video.
I think the episode about the perfect boy was just about accepting that no matter what someone will always be better than you and not hate them for their superiority. Cause they are people too and they can even help you maybe.
Just something I didn't know at the time, but do now - the Ashleys are actually a reference to the 1998 film Heathers, which gets its title from a trio of high school queens, all named Heather, and all with their own colour. Much darker material, considering it's a black comedy movie (I got a bunch of stickers with quotes from the musical adaptation today, such as "Shut up, Heather", "Freeze your brain" and "Step into my candy store"), but I like the fact that the mean girls gang referenced some of the most infamous mean girls of cinema - even Mean Girls itself got inspired from that.
I watched this show when i was little andni rememebring liking it same for the movie and then when i saw this on Disney + ans watching it again makes me wonder hpw come they don't make shows like this anymore.
This is one of Disney’s most amazing tv series. I really loved the characters and I honestly wouldn’t mi d if they came back but this time taking on High school.
Butch did horror stories specifically in the Halloween episode, but while they could all be scary, I'd say his real focus was playground lore and urban legends.
I do have memories of seeing this on TV on Saturday mornings quite a lot. I didn't watch it that much until about six years back when I started catching up. The only episode that stuck with me as a kid was The Game, when every kid on the playground gets addicted to this card game that apparently is so dangerous that kids who play it get to the point where they can't think of anything else. They eventually snap out of it when a kindergartener picks up a kickball or something. And yup, Upside-Down Girl has a pretty obvious model. At least her pigtails hang down instead of sticking straight out.
You gotta love the fact the series was essentially Hogan’s Heroes, but for kids. So much so, they even ape Hogan’s Heroes in the episode where the gang visits the senior center.
Here’s something I didn’t understand in the movie, don’t most American schools have summer school for students who failed or were behind? Don’t they have summer sports and enrichment classes? Maybe 3rd street likes to pass kids that don’t deserve it
Before watching the whole video: I can callback the plot of more than one episode (and the movie), despite seeing it years ago. The episode where it's revealed Spinelli's first name is actually Ashley, so she tries to be with the Ashleys, the one where she paints in the ground, but it gets ruined by the water, but she is not sad, because she was already happy to share it... Where Gus steals from a candy shop and feels guilty about it, where Gretchen pretends to be dumber, because she doesn't want to be taken away from her friends to an another school... Where Randall lies about his friendgroup and being the leader of the said group and dating Spinelli, but in the end of the episode his father admits he was also a lone wolf in school, so they bond over it... Where he plagizies jokes from a book and the gang reveals that by finishing "his" jokes, because it got to the point he makes fun of Mikey. There is also the episode where a new guy comes to the school, who is perfect in everything, but he doesn't want to be. There is also the movie, where everyone leaves for Summer, expect TJ, who is devastated without them and he notices that something strange happening to the school. He gathers his friend to help him and he also comes to some mutual understanding with the headmaster. This show is truly memorable. Edit: The movie wasn't the finale surprises me, because it felt like one.
Recess season 1 & 2 were the best but after that I found the show had lost something with the following season's I can't explain what happened but it went so dull. So in regards to the recess movies I found schools out the best. that isn't to say I didn't like the others though
I strongly disagree with Vince being the least developed. He has some of the best spotlight episodes - Big Brother Chad, I Shall Kick No More Forever, and of course one of the GOATs of Recess episodes, Me No Know. I feel Gretchen in particular, and arguably also Gus, are less developed than Vince.

Tbh schools out was one of my favorite movies when I was younger. I watched it so many times.
16:03 well that hits differently, now

Upside down girl is my favorite, and btw they exist a dark story about her.
@@Niko26-t1y Not the one about escaping Nickelodeon?

Great review. You should do Lloyd in Space

28:36 LMAO Facts, can't believe Recess is yet ANOTHER show in her list
Recess was up there with Spongebob, Rugrats and Fairly odd Parents for my favorite show as a kid.
at least recess called it quits at the right time imho
0:42. What about Nightmare Ned? Didn't that premiere and ended a couple of months before Recess and Pepper Ann?

11:30 talks about the families of the characters while showing Spinelli's FAKE parents from 'Parents' Night'. Oops.
Theres a kid to represent everyone you meet in work or school.
Please review The 2003 Teen Titans series and the Trouble in Tokyo TV movie!
Heh! They share a voice actress with Milo Oblong!
I’m so sad that most of my friends only learned this show from me and didn’t know about it before a month ago
11:24
Look at the captions when he said recess gang
Arkansas??
Please do American Dad?
Why do I feel like that I have a little bit of all the kids character traits?
I refuse to unknowledge the crossover.
Why?
Apparently they're making a live action version of this show & as incredible as this was... modern Disney can't pull that off!

I used to watch it on RTE 2
Galileo is recess's version of Graggle Simpson except he's real
1:00 Middle school because they are 12 to 14 accutlly
