You have to wonder what’s so joyful about working at Chick-fil-A. Their chicken sandwich might be worth it, but being an employee is probably more than just stuffing your face with some free chicken nuggets in the back - or so we think.

That really isn't saying much though. I mean the bar wasn't set that high to begin with. People hyped the customer service but when went there it was better than most but nothing really special.
Have never had any issues with my order or with their service.

Chick Fil A has amazing customer service. I accidentally dropped my waffle fries, and they gave me new fries for free.

Well I have never worked there, but have worked in service industries. I have always used that phrase, as it was polite and certainly better than what was floating through my head when serving some of the "people" (insert eyeroll, sarcasm and profanity) that have crossed my path. Dealing with the public is always a crap shoot, yet,I was lucky for the most part, people had better manners back then. I wouldn't last a day at one of these establishments. I have witnessed some really shady stuff by customers - so bad that I contacted the store manager and corporate to defend the employee not the customer. Some people are just evil.

Same, but I transferred to BOH once I heard they were understaffed and my mind just went "OPPORTUNITY!!!" Stressful during rushes(when isn't it?) but at least I don't have to deal with obnoxious special snowflake customers.
And also... chickfila restaurants are owned by different people so just because one manager says something doesnt mean all chick filas are suddently against gays. I know im not and have a couple managers that are gays themselves

I worked for Chick-fil-A for about 9 months a few years ago and most of this is very accurate. People would play this kind of game with you to see how many times they could get you to say "my pleasure;" saying thank you way more times than necessary. After a couple months I imposed a personal limit of two "my pleasure's" per guest. I'm a person not a circus monkey. You'd also be surprised at how many people can't say Chick-fil-A. They'd call it things like Chick-filla or Chicka--fill even after you'd say "Welcome to Chick-fil-A."

Sometimes I understand, but there are times it’s rude. Sometimes they keep talking and get angry when the order is messed up, but it’s their fault for not listening. Omg the multitasking part is sooo true, i spent almost all of my high school years working there, i quit because of college (worst decision ever) but it really taught me how to manage my time wisely and how to juggle writing a paper with studying for other classes

I love Chick-fil-A when I go there in the morning sometimes for breakfast no matter what kind of morning I have they always are so kind with their slogan "my pleasure."
I currently work at chic fil a and the one thing I hate about it that the customers like to take advantage that we are always friendly. Also that customers don’t pay attention to us when we repeat the order back to them and when they receive the item they come to us and blame it on us for messing up the order.
After working at a CFA for years, I just couldn’t eat their food anymore once I left. The smell of the coater used on the chicken makes me nauseous. I always used to go home smelling like it because of how busy rushes got during the day.
At least I got to dress up as the Cow once, it was a lot of fun. 👍
When I was in my 20's my girlfriend worked at McDonalds. She always came home smelling like McDonalds. I guess that's what happens.
That's pretty much true of any fast food place.

The reason the former sounds better than the latter is because the former conveys enjoyment/pleasure while the latter conveys that it was just not a burden but does not convey enjoyment/pleasure.

I worked @ Wendy's for 3 years. Sunday is literally the slowest work day out of the week. Chik fil a being closed on Sundays is one of the smartest buisness moves I've ever seen executed.
Customers using a phone will never be stopped. I hate it too.

When someone is on their cell phone & not ready to order I just walk away & move on to next table/customer... Obviously,Chatting on their phone is much more important than getting with it to order their food... Not to mention incredibly RUDE,RUDE..I guess people have no manners anymore??!!

It was the worst job I ever had I was told to “turn down my personality while at work”. I would leave work crying every single day. Things like this are why when ever I tell people how bad it actually was for me they don’t believe me or tell me I’m over reacting.
I believe you. they don't really treat their employees good ( only the ones that they favored are treated with respect) it's all an act behind the scenes. I worked at a Chick-fil-A for 6 months and I was miserable and mistreated. Thank God I'm not working there anymore. Im sorry hon :(

Great place to work for, I was a marketing director and team leader. We hired all walks of life as long as they loved people and worked well with others.
The morale is really high because there is a common respect and unity as a family unit there. It was a wonderful job.
The store I work at is awesome. They’re very picky about who they hire (for every one person they hire they turn down 20) so all my coworkers are super nice and it’s the best job i’ve ever had.
Multitasking is impossible. When companies push multitasking what they really mean is constant task switching, which is unhealthy (extremely stressful) for workers and is inefficient.

Multitasking wasn’t impossible. I worked as a team leader at CFA. I’d be on the phone with a customer, bagging food for the drive-thru and monitoring the front counter rush as well. It’s all about experience and skill. 🤷🏼♀️ Drive-thru headset has to take orders and make drinks at the same time and before the double lanes, that one person was in charge of their drinks, ice cream and stocking their area all while taking orders. You were always on the move. Now most places have the double lanes, which splits the duties between two people making it a lot easier.
J K I agree with you somewhat. It is very stressful and if you are an individual who can do it, then you have a skill that will take you far. You have every right to your opinion and it makes me mad how people think it is ok to disregard it because it doesn’t go along with theirs. The millennial remark was really silly.

Take the case of Publix. From the the time the supermarket was founded in 1930. It was closed on Sundays until 1983 when Publix began opening on Sundays for their convenience.
Steven Smith: Virtually EVERYPLACE was closed on Sundays until the 70s in the St.Louis area...I remember we were actually shocked the first time we saw that a local store was open on Sundays...slowly they all started it.

I work for chick-fil-a currently, and while I was taking an order in drive-thru, someone had the nerve to drive off without saying thank you, and then when they got to the drive-thru, they asked for the manager, and she told the manager that I forgot to say “my pleasure.” My pleasure is a call and response. Before, I could even read back her order, ask for any sauces, she just drove off without a thank you; she didn’t even let me read her total.
I love Chik fil A. Who else gives you free things and tells you it’s “just because”? Their food is awesome as well

I work at chick fil a and it's so fun! By far my favorite job and the fact that they give you a free meal no matter the length of your shift is awesome as well as the 15 dollars an hour. I honestly don't have enough good things to say about it.
As a ex Chick-fil-A Team Trainer, I can say that working there was an experience I’ll never forget. Everyone I worked with was a joy to be around, and the majority of guests were very pleasant. The job itself was a bit demanding at times, but it was worth it when the paychecks came. It also made me see the food industry in a brand new light, and I have a massive amount of respect for the people that do this.

It’s one of the most stressful jobs I’ve ever had but I love seeing people happy. We do this thing called surprise and delight, whenever we accidentally make more or too much of something we surprise a customer with a free milkshake or frosted lemonade. They always get so happy. It makes me feel good that I was involved with putting a smile on their face. Also yes the my pleasure thing sticks with you. My friend needed some chapstick so I offered her some of mine and she responded with thank you and of course without even thinking I said my pleasure.
Wow no mention of Chick-fil-A’s incredible drive-through process. They stand head and shoulders above the competition when it comes to drive-through efficiency and especially friendliness.
It’s easy af, but working at fast food is just like working at any other fast food places. Management takes advantage of the workers (especially the hard working ones) and make them “team leader” which basically means that they do management work but get paid less bc they’re only “team leader”. My chic fil A would schedule me the hardest times only and the higher ups like “shift manager” would take on the easy shifts and make easy money. A lot of times I’d see them work the whole day to get the overtime hours, then leave when it’s closing time which is really the hard and annoying work. Their excuse was that they worked the whole day so they didn’t have to help... but closing is literally a pain in the ass in any fast food if it’s low staffed. So we put in 10x more work and effort to get only a few hours, while they put in way less effort because during open hours there’s a lot of staff helping you so it’s SUPER easy. They cheat the system with their workers 🤷🏽♂️
All you really need to be a team leader is to be 18 (if you’re 18+ and not a team leader, you’re not very good at your job)

I worked at Chick-fil-A for 3 years then I quit for 2 years and ended up going back because they became my family and it is a lot of fun to work there. Chick-Fil-A has made such an impact on me, you wouldn’t believe how many friends I’ve made there. And just about every Sunday the whole entire team will get together and go out and do something, like hiking, Go see a movie, go to amusement park, go to Disney World go see a movie, go to amusement park, go to Disney World etc.

My first job was at Chick Fil-A in the mall food court almost 20 years ago and it was a fun experience. We got free food for lunch, either a Chick Fil-A sandwich and fries or nuggets and fries until new management came in and stopped it. We didn't have to say my pleasure back then either. Still a great company to work for...
Way back in 1973 I worked in a mall that had A Chick - fil-A. When I'd get off work in the evenings I'd pass by the store and they would toss unsold sandwiches to us that were going to be thrown away. They tasted better way back then too. More seasoning I think. Now they have cut way back on that spice. I miss it! 🙃
6:48 I remember that day it was a few days before I was about to leave my old house, my family were moving out of the old house because we got afficted from some greedy landlords that claimed that we were in a rental property and we broke the rules, my family were so close to leaving and we didn't really have anything to eat what's when a miracle happen we had some really nice people from a church come over and feed us food from Chick-fil-A, me and my brothers got a Chick-fil-A kids meal with chicken tenders and waffle fries, and they gave my parents and the rest of the adults some really good Chick-fil-A sandwiches, before they started eating they said their Grace and their blessings, they even gave my parents some extra Chick-fil-A sandwiches and during dinner time my parents decide to have us try a few, I can never forget that day and what those people have done for us may God bless them! 🙏

I’ve been saying “my pleasure” for 20 years in customer service. The owner of the restaurant I was a banquet manager explained the reasoning to my why we say “my pleasure” instead of you’re welcome, or no problem or something like that. It makes a lot of sense and works. I’ve been teaching it to my employees ever since. Chic Fil A didn’t originate it, but I appreciate they use it. It does work it’s way into your brain. I say it in regular life all the time. Lol
I actually currently work at Chick-fil-a, and I really like multi-tasking. But weather you can multi-task or not, I think it's more dependant on if you're good about keeping yourself busy. 😊

I went to a open interview yesterday and filled out a paper application when I was at the restaurant I was told to go for a second interview the next day and I would get a phone call if I can go but so far I haven’t had a call or email about going for a second interview.This was my experience trying to get a job at Chick Fil A.
As a former Chick-Fil-A worker, all of these things are so true (especially the "my pleasure" phrase becoming a habit)
One other thing I was surprised about though was the insane amount of sugar they put in the lemonade, but it didn't stop it from tasting delicious

Worked there for two years for first job. Good place to work, but hated that they paid minimum wage (in NJ) while the chipotle’s and shake shacks pay starts at 10.

@@aikotanaka24 Yep, then again we do the work of two people most of the time so it equals out. I just got done doing a year in a store inside the top 10% of volume out of 2363 stores. Twenty six thousand dollar days, 179 cars in drive in one hour etc you know how it is. The pace is crushing and I have semi permanently injured my shoulder in the process. I probably will take over a year to heal.

As an employee of Chickfila, I can proudly say that Chickfila is the best company to enter into the workforce with! I have learned so much working there and I am a completley different person because of it. We have learned to be understanding of ALL people because you never know what's going on in thier lives.

i feel like the employees are so nice and respectful because they see how many bad incidents take place at pop eyes, kfc and churches lol countless videos and stories of fights and shootings between employees and customers so they are like okay to prevent all that we need to be extra respectful
I have an interview with them today for hospitality professional I'm excited loved the place since I was a kid now being an adult their full time starting pay in my state will really be a blessing to me

Being a fast food restuarant manager is extremely exhausting and stressful no matter where you work.
I just left Wendy's after a year because within a year my health was in danger. You will always be short staffed. You have to work long hours (60-65 hours a week). You have to deal with nasty customers. I would only wish that job on my worst enemy.
That's Wendy's for ya. Worked for them as a teen back in the 90s. I left after a month because I was disgusted at how the store was ran.
@@Serevarno ...it was truly like leaving a cult. I gave my 2 weeks notice and then ignored me then everyday they had a new offer. My at night I left my uniforms with a note..I told I was quitting!
I know. I don't work for Wendy's but I am a manger. I had to step down being a general manager because it was so bad. I was working 80+ hours a week (salaried....not good), having to deal with rude customers, running the kitchen solo during a lunch rush, being sick and still having to work, etc. My heath took a down fall. Even now, I'm still with the company but back to being a "normal" assistant manager. It seems like it has gotten worse. I'm supposed to be going to work now but my body....it's so hard to get out of bed. We don't get breaks, sometimes you cant even use the bathroom, and cant even eat. If we get a chance to sit down and eat, don't sit in the lobby cause the customer won't care and will prob call and complain because you got a break. Yeah....it's happened before. "Why not just leave?" well...2 college degrees and cant get anything in what I studied. Its frustrating. Sorry to rant...
@@courtneyrulz08 you don't have to say sorry to me I grew up in the restaurant business it's hard on family my dad didn't get home until after 2:00 pm when the bar closed.that is why if I owned one I would have shifts that would start at different times and help out
@@courtneyrulz08 ...I'm the same way. I have 3 AS degrees and a BA. Every one told me With my background I should be working in a nice comfort office. But office jobs here pay $12 if your lucky.
So when Wendy's offered me almost $40k..I was happy. But they were also factoring in monthly and quarterly bonus that we never got (the franchise I worked for owned over 100 Wendy's but only about 3 actually got their bonuses).
But I put up with so much bs. I rarely got a weekend off and when I did..it would get ruined. I eventually had to go to the ER and was kept overnight because my anxiety attack was so severe and I was suffering from dehydration because like you said you could hardly get a minute to go pee much less eat or take a drink of something.
I was suffering from depression and anxiety (both which I never had issues with before). And when I went in for a check up with my doctor my BP was 112/70 and I had lost 15 pounds in 2 weeks because I didnt eat a thing but a muffin when I got home at night. So I was promptly taken out of work for a few days so I didnt suffer a stroke or heart attack. And was then put on xanax.
But the final straw came when a former employee who had came in high one night and threatened my entire crew, was hired back! Of course on my shift.
Now I work in a manufacturing plant where I make more money and work Monday through Friday. I get paid good money to basically push buttons. And I'm not responsible for a single person but me. And I'm now off my meds for depression and anxiety because I no longer have problems with it.
This company always has cars always all the way around the outside of the building everytime I visit our local store . In fact two months out of last year we ate there every day for those two months .
As a former McDonalds employee I can relate how busy working in fast food can be.

I work at Chic Fil A in the kitchen. Stressful asf when you have the whole resturant packed inside and the drive thru line going all the way through the parking lot. Its worse when your short people in the back. Its frustrating when you have a full screen of mega orders and your batch of chicken runs out and have to wait for the breader to make more. The Chic-Fil-A i work is kind of small and doesnt have two drive thrus. 😩
I worked at Hyatt and we had to say “My pleasure” and even though I haven’t worked there in years and I still say it even at home.
Also, I know a lot of lgbtq people that frequent there. I’m one of them. I’m bisexual and I’m actually eating a chicken biscuit as I am watching this.

@@elizabethb3416 i was chosen for an interview for chck-fil-a and it didn't work out...and wendy's, i just happen to enjoy their food loads better...thats all.
My former store we did insane volumes, we are talking about over 26,000 dollars a day, over six million a year and in a population density not as high as you would think. A slow lunch hour is about 155 drive through orders an hour, not including front counter. The chicken is ok, but mostly they are a service based company above everything else.

Just like QuikTrip. I worked there for 2years and we were trained to say Hello Hello all day and now 10years later I still say Hello no matter where I'm at when someone walks thru the door😂
