In the 1950 to the 1990, bakken was known as a cheaper alternative to tivoli gardens for the people who was less fortunate
I mean it still kinda is, they're definitely the more affordable place. And now BonBon land is even more so than Bakken.
It has free entry and you only pay for the rides. In Tivoli Gardens you have to pay for entry.
Interesting thing about Bakken is that the rides are individually owned, so Bakken themselves can't decide to just get a new ride. Kinda like Wiener Prater.
But I agree, they need a new coaster
Exactly. That's why it has such a fun fair atmosphere to it. Having individually owned rides, shops, restaurants and other attractions just means there's never any overall theme going on anywhere. I imagine it's very tricky to find funding to pay for any new major rides, when the individual owner and operator will have to bear the entire cost for it all on his own.
They have tried building a huge coaster for years, but the neighbours to Bakken constantly complain about the plans to do so
@@MikkelJankovic Wait really? I'd love to learn more about that, do you know where I can find more details on that kinda stuff?
@@MikkelJankovic When he mentioned the nearby neighborhoods, there was no way those residents would let that happen while it’s already on protected land 🥲😅
@@psychedelicelle Yup. It already took them several years just to get the wild mouse built, and it took about 30 years to build the themed area based on the Matador TV drama.
One thing that wasn't really mentioned is that this park is super easy to get to. Just a short walk east of the park is Klampenborg train station, which is the Terminus of the C line on the Copenhagen S train. That means you can get from Copenhagen Central up to Bakken, every 10 minutes all day, in just 15-20 minutes. Plus with some regional trains every 30 minutes which funnily enough also stop at BonBon land. So yeah it's super easy if you're in Copenhagen to just take the C line to Klampenborg, spend a few hours at Bakken, and then take the C line back to the Central station and enter Tivoli Gardens.
We drove, which is why I didn’t mention it, but that’s great to hear it’s so easy to access!
Love that you guys review and show off our weird and smaller parks in Denmark as well as classics like Bakken.
The thing about Bakken is that it is much more cozy than other parks.
We would often go there, then out for a picnic and maybe back for one more ride or a snack. Or it might be the place you end after taking a walk in the surrounding forrest.
Some people even go there just to drink beer with friends.
The cozyness of Bakken, the fact that all walks of life is there, not just kids or people craving thrills, but even the drunks, pensioners and fashionable teens is what makes ot special for me. 💜
(Not to say it's better than other danish theme parks)
The interesting bit about Bakken is that the ground is splitt into many parcels and owned by a number of showmans. The newest ride - a KMG Move It - replaced a 40 year old Zierer Flitzer. It is therefore quite hard to place any kind of coaster if a solid flat ride or another restaurant uses much less space and plays in more money.
Bakken is very limited by the requirements set by "Skov og Naturstyrelsen" - you already mentioned it, but they are not able to expand, they need to keep noise levels down and also many neightbours complain both due to noise but also due to the visible aspect. They also have a height limit, I think it's 30m above ground level or something - Rutschebanen is the tallest they are allowed to build. That's also why their S6S tower is dug into the ground. It sucks, but that's the name of the game
Aw. I was more charmed and pleased by Bakken than you. It’s the European Knoebels. Get the wristband, ride a lot, relax with a good meal, soak it up, visit the park and the beach next to it. A great full day for me.
I see exactly what you mean! As someone who is from a major city, Chicago, in the US, I can totally understand understand where he is coming from not being too impressed. Chicago closed our original amusement park not that long ago, but I can tell it had been horribly outdated here. I wish I grew up Danish!
I was thinking the most original of an amusement park Chicago can get since our city burnt down in the 19th century!!!
This is amazing. Dude you under hyped this place and promoted other parks. Apples and oranges. It’s over 500 years old. What an amazing piece of history that hasn’t been destroyed by nature or war. You have to appreciate that.
He talked about several things it does well. There are just way better parks than this
I would love to spend the entire day here as a fan of arts, architecture and photography. It's a great mix of the beautiful and bizarre and seems like a hoot. There were some seriously cool-looking flats that we don't have in the states that I would love to check out and the food looked marvelous. A Premier sky rocket 2 coaster like Tigris would be good here given the space restraints.
I am from Denmark and TRY TORNADO!
@@idkk5264 Tornado looks amazing, especially psycho mode when it's really spinny 🙉
Very nicely put together video and very entertaining as well. Thanks for posting this.
Imagine talking about your childhood at Bakken and saying "it was so great with these rides in the very beginning" even though it's far from the beginning.
Amazing video!!!!!!!!!❤❤❤
The clown dude (pjerrot) is actually also in Tivoli. And the character has a very big background.
Yes, he goes back centuries, to the commedia dell’arte.
I don't get why people find Pjerrot scary. He is a clown. A funny man. He does shows for children three times a day.
He is originally a character from the Italian comedia dell arte. Pjerrot is also an icon of Tivoli. There is a bust of him. He is the main character in the pantomime plays. This is much more like the original Pjerrot than Bakken's version.
Here is a question I could not find the answer to.
How did the tradition of putting your hands up on a roller-coaster start?
What year and what coaster started this?
The old rollercoaster was amazing before they remove the breakmen.
Bakken gives me the same vibes I used to get from Old Indiana as a kid.
Can only agree, i understand every point you guys had. I pretty much agree with everything you said!
That mascot tho 😭😄
Hi hello how coster studio how is it going. Wow oh my goodness bruh this video vlog is awesome 👍 and such Banger's bruh stay safe my friend and i egee with what you said nice Park but you are right it doesn't look like much people are there.
Finally, I saw a vid early!!!
Another great video and you hit on i lot of points I haven’t though of but 1 quick question will you ever be doing the This is how we roll raffle from Christmas
Yes! We will be messaging the winners today.
@CoasterStudios, will you be going to seaworld Orlando anytime soon?
Speaking of Tornado. It would be cool with a top 20 most intense roller coasters or something.
Tell me you're American without saying you're American: "Bakken needs an RMC" 😆
I meannnn😬🤷🏼♂️😂
@@CoasterStudios If you could find the finances and make the nimby neighbors have their mouths shut, then there actually is a pretty solid spot where you could fit in a Raptor. In the south of the park close to the Tornado and Sky roller, where the Bumper cars are and right up against the Bakkens Hvile show. That spot is almost perfectly sized for a Raptor or Sky Rocket 2. Both of which would be really solid choices for the park. Though it is located right at the split line of 2 of the most conservative rich municipalities in the whole country, who are often opposed to this kinda stuff. But hey one can dream.
Then again development is really slow here. The Wild mouse took about 5 years to get approved, and the Matador TV Drama themed area seen at 0:55 was in development since 1983! And it didn't open until 2015, all because of having to get the funding for it and get all the legal permission. And that area cost the same to build as Fønix so there's that too.
I found this park in my history textbooks
Ive done magic with the Mascot when i was little😂😂
One Day i would go to this park in the near future & ride Tornado, & i would maybe make that coaster in my top 10/20 of my fav coasters in my opinion.
I mean Bakkens woodie was really just made worse from one thing. The instalation of the Kumbak trains. Before that it had brakeman trains like on its clone in Linnanmaki and afaik it was hauling and giving unbelievable airtime. But nope. The Department for nature who owns Rutschebanen decided to automate the ride to not bother dealing with the legalities of having a brakeman.
As for Bakken like Wiener Prater every ride is owned by independent showmen (or in the case of Rutschebanen the Danish government), so it's up to them if they can afford a new coaster. The Wild mouse itself took several years of planning to get going, and the Matador area that's seen in several shots, themed after a Danish TV drama from the 80's, took over 30 years to become reality due to having to find the money for it and the planning permission.
As for new coasters, one thing I could see as being very likely would be a clone of Sandys Blasting Bronco or something like that. Eastern Denmark has zero launch coasters, and that layout is so compact it would only take up the space of a few stalls and or flat rides. Alternatively an Intamin Hot Racer could be a good fit, but apparently Tivoli Friheden in Aarhus might be getting one of those as a replacement for their disasterous inverted coaster "Cobra".
Fun Fact: It also inspired Walt Disney to build the theme park.
It sounds like how Cincinnati's Coney Island used to operate before they just decided to pull a Michigan's Adventure and add a bunch of plots of grass.
1583?! 🤯
yeah yeah whatever😂
Lesssssssss gooooooooooooooo!!!
Please do a review for Disney Studios Paris
We will!
Hi! Maybe you could add a "Sarah's opinions" portion at the end of the video, if she has a different opinion on the park or has something to add that you didn't mention.
Gives me an Indiana Beach vibe
NOOOOOO not the EuroNet atms
we go to Bakken every year
2:58 am I seeing that woman right?
Yea 😳
Yep, same one that provides the 'tunnel' at 3:12 :D
The Mascot that you didnt like is actully also the ondest amusement park Mascot, and i know that you probably world Think no thats not true, mickey Mouse or something like that, but the thing is that mickey Mouse Fame from short films and not original from disney land, so evn Theo you May not knew the Mascot you didnt like Called Pjerrot is the ondest theme park Mascot to, just thougth you should know🙂
I agree with you, Taylor... clowns 🤡 are evil 😈 goblins!
If this is the oldest hence the defunct west point park and leap the dips in pa both Denmark yep and I love the clowns more should be present at parks they go along with places of fun shame they get a bad rap ..
