10:00 100% Agree with this, a lot of "Poorly Aged" games are considered like that because they dont have a modern control scheme and younger players get frustrated with how different schemes are in comparison to how streamlined they are nowadays.
Yeah it's kinda funny how playing Goldeneye or Perfect Dark with an N64 controller comes back as naturally to me as eating pizza or sweating profusely, but I can't aim for crap in these or any games that use modern controllers. Now if I can get the XBLA versions working with keyboard and mouse on PC It'll be game over for those meat sims.
Fun fact, both goldeneye and perfect dark had dual analog controls. It required dual wielding n64 controllers and was clunky as heck, but it technically works!
9:05 That's probably the screen you're playing on. This game was made for playing on CRTs, which are much brighter and have a much better dynamic range than modern LCD monitors.
yeah, every few years I play goldeneye again to double check to see if it's actually good or if it was nostalgia. and NO, it was NEVER nostalgia. Even now GoldenEye does things in a unique way that I've seen almost no other fps do. the way you have to seamlessly take cover on your own and juggle when to shoot baddies, and how less realistic NPC ai actually makes the game better - like how they can shoot through their dying comrades but you can't, adding a level of danger. No other game feels like GoldenEye does. though Perfect Dark feels close and Timesplitters games are close, but not really there. Incidentally I'm breaking down all the game's mechanics to figure out what's so unique about it because I want to make my own GoldenEye style game at some point.
Originally, Goldeneye was meant to be an on-rails Time Crisis esque shooter and you can kind of see elements of that in the final product. The way the A.I. reacts to your shots is so over-the-top and so satisfying, I love it. Its something they STILL havent gotten right in any Bond game since. Like Goldeneye Rogue Agent, a game that came out 7 years later, feels so damn stiff. The enemies dont react to your shots at all aside from the final blow. I appreciate Perfect Dark and Time Crisis as an overall package, but Goldeneye is just so much fun when you want something more straightforward, simple and action packed. You're definitely studying a game that's truly special. Good luck!
Goldeneye reloaded is just okay. I agree. It was bad. But it was just okay. Also grab the updated xex file, there are a lot of quality of life improvements. Most notably the lighting is much better now.
I didn't even know this was a thing tbh... wow. Playing this game on split screen with my friends after school was the absolute best. I miss those days... we'd play this at my house, and dynasty warriors 3 at another friend's house... simpler times.
Hey, since this comment section is naturally going to be full of Goldeneye fans, maybe you guys can give me some insight. I grew up on the N64. Played something from damn near every genre on the system, except FPSes. I don't get the love, having tried them over the years. Be it with friends in multiplayer on Goldeneye itself, Perfect Dark or that weird Turok multiplayer only game, or in single player with Goldeneye, Perfect Dark or Turok 2 (couldn't get my hands on an OG Turok 1). What am I missing? EDIT: Except Speedrunning. Holy shit do I love Goldeneye Speedrunning.
Tomorrow Never Dies on PS1 was awesome, I sunk way to much time as a kid into that game. Criminally underrated channel, I've been subbed a while, consider this my coming out comment.
I love MGS. I actually just finally played and beat MGS3 and MGS4 for the very first time back in January. It was incredible. I want to do a video on the series one day but I definitely want to do it right
The tank lvl is actually one of the hardest. Other than the one where yoi have to save the scientists or whatever. ...i dont care im just tryin to see them polygon toes girl....if she aint sendin you feet and toe pics...does she even really love you...ask yourself that
Pretty sure the people calling it “overrated” are too young to have an opinion on what is and isn’t influential in the gaming scene. If you never played a game where it’s only option at release was to run it on a crt at maybe ~15fps until like 2 npcs and an explosion on screen simultaneously cause it to hit 5fps then you’re still little more than a baby in the gaming industry😏

How in the world you only have 79 suscribers? This review is golden, keep the good work man!
It would take him another year for the algorithm to show his channel to everyone.
He only had 79 subscribers a year ago? Holy shit what a growth he's had since then.

Goldeneye is a god game and is still better than any of that CoD fishing game thing.

I Watched and really enjoyed the gameplay for the remastered version ( I had already watched the gameplay for the original version ) both were good

It might be overrated and "broken " now BUT BACK THEN THEY WOULD HAVE BEEN PLAYING IT ALL DAY LIKE WE DID
The tank lvl is actually one of the hardest. Other than the one where yoi have to save the scientists or whatever. ...i dont care im just tryin to see them polygon toes girl....if she aint sendin you feet and toe pics...does she even really love you...ask yourself that
I liked the video but I don't understand American humor.
That intro 😬
And then half life came out and goldeneye was dogshit
nah
Nightfire was dogshit with the half life port though
