      ***** First of all, by your own logic your god must have an builder.
      On that fact alone, your argument fails.
      But lets forget all your false logic, and trow you a bone, lets say the universe is created, and the creator doesn't need a creator, what evidence you got that the creator of the universe is the god mentioned in the bible?
      Lets also forget the fact that everything in the bible is proven wrong, about how the universe works and its history.
      See how much of reality we have to ignore for your ''argument'' to work? We even need to ignore the words of your god.
      And even now you fail, because if we ignore all that, you can still not prove the creator of the universe is the guy mentioned in the bible.

      this one guy I dueled with in a comments section wanted me to watch a 40+ hour playlist of "Truth" wherein it was a repetitive compilation of the same old, same old creationist arguments. It claimed to present evidence, said evidence being their own faith.

    • @TheUltimateRare
      @TheUltimateRare 9 років тому +5

      +Robert Lindey the answer is the question. It's a closed loop. God created himself.. at least that's what they claim. It's the only possible way :P
      It's not hard to understand.. if god created everything.. he is everything.. If the universe didn't exist.. he is also nothing. all at once. I ask you.. what does that mean to your question? By that logic.. nothing created everything. But i thought atheists think that! That's because everyone does. The word "god" = nothing
      inside religion That's how it works. you might as well pray to nothing as that's what god really is. Nothing and everything at the same time. It's the only way it could be possible..
      If they were correct. lol

This guy learned well from his brother Rush, on how to give parts of a true story, and leave other true parts out so as to create the narrative that their position is correct.

    I'm SO glad the host stopped short of claiming mother theresa was a good person, when in actuality she DELIBERATELY made people suffer agony so "she could get close to god"! She went out of her way to ensure the people in her care were denied basic medication, as she felt that the only way she could be holy was to witness suffering. and BOY did she cause a lot of it! Not only that but she accepted blood money from dictators and drug dealers!

    ...and then they counter (or so they think) with, "But god has infinite complexity," thereby making the entire argument even more convoluted, confusing, and, by definition, confusing. It's just an argument they cannot win and one where they have to violently shove back the goal posts.

    As someone who is a Catholic and beileves in a God. I refuse to let my beilefs change my view on how the world should be run. And my religion is just what I personally believe, and half the stuff on the Bible isn't even accurate. So it shouldn't be taken as 100% accurate. The minor details aren't true. Just be a good person and never. NEVER let your beilef be reflected on other people.

    Regarding the moral equivalence of Hitler and Mother Teresa, perhaps Chris Hitchens can help.
    Shit, I can even make a case that Hitler was morally superior - in that his life, and the effects of the same, led to a greater increase of good than did Teresa of Calcutta.
    And if I wanted to keep it real, I might point out that both of these individuals are effectively caricatures in that neither one is truly known as they were in themselves. Hitler was no more the Antichrist than Anjeze was a saint.
    The degree to which we ascribe honorable and/or dishonorable traits to key historical figures is largely determined by which chair we're sitting in.

    @secular talk Just a note, at 6:30 you mention radio active carbon dating as if it could be used to determine the age of the earth. Radio active carbon 14 only has a half life of 5,730 years so it's only good for a few tens of thousands of years. Also, only for once living matter which obtained the carbon from the atmosphere. Radiometric dating using uranium-238's decay to lead-206, with a half-life of about 4.5 billion years, is more useful and uses mineral crystals.

    Jesus is about 2000 years late according to Bible. Mark 13:29-31 (KJV) "29 So ye in like manner, when ye shall see these things come to pass, know that it is nigh, even at the doors. 30 Verily I say unto you, that this generation shall not pass, till all these things be done. 31 Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away."

    The problem with holy books and morality is that it simply teaches what to think, instead of how to think. IT teaches that in sunday school, you should parrot back the ten commandments to Mrs. Smith, because that is what she wants to hear, and what she thinks you should be able to do. You are never asked to explain why, and on the off chance you are, the expected answer is that God will punish you if you break any of the commandments. Then, as adults, you'll go around nodding your hea to authority figures and parroting back whatever phallacy they want you to reply with. This is how we end up with modern day Nazi's that don't even understand that they agree with Hitler, and that half of our population are fascists. They hear the boogy man words they've been conditioned to fear and they shrink away, and they throw them at the people they disagree with without really understanding what any of them mean.

      If he believed, or believes, Jesus to be god, then he is willfully violating the bible -- Jesus worshiped a god who commanded not to put any before him. So either Jesus was god worshiping himself, or they are putting Jesus before the god Jesus worshiped.

    • @billlipton8965
      @billlipton8965 10 років тому

      Justin Griffith God wouldn't worship god -- that is the perpetual sequence Kyle refers to. God would need to accept itself as god. But consider god's condition, by definition god is everything ... picture awakening with no prior memory, none of your five senses, no need to eat or drink and no facility to do so. All you know is that which is inside you mind and the awareness that you exist.
      That's the problem god would have.
      Since there is, as far as you know, nothing but your thoughts, how much of an egomaniac would you be? Any thought that references another, or something external to your pure thoughts, would be irrational and totally unconfirmable -- there is no external where you can test any hypothesis.
      To worship and external requires there be an external.
      The best god could do would be to accept its own thoughts.
      Note that all the religions insist there is another place -- an existence external to ours ... a heaven and hell ... our frame of reference has senses and internal and external ... but think in terms of not having that ... just the ability to think. an egomaniac? really?

    Not to mention the fact that Egypt had a strong hold over Canaan in the supposed time of the conquest by joshua or that architecture attributed to Solomon has been carbon dated to be from the time of the omride dynasty hundreds of years later or even that biblical descriptions of locations supposedly from the 14th century bc and older have much more in common with 7th century versions (meaning those stories were probably written in the 7th century bc).

    I don't know with the Hitler vs Mother Theresa thing. Mother Theresa isn't a good person.
    It seems logical to say that Hitler is worse, but Mother Theresa was so sickly bad too that I don't feel comfortable with saying either one is objectively worse.
