I didn't make it super clear but the BCM was the defective part that needed to be changed. Harley Corporate had one Overnighted to my local dealer.
Dam for all the other people without 42k subscribers bike goes to the shop and put on waiting list for a month maybe two lmao
My 2016 road King has had the same issues with starting and the abs and security system. I could find nothing online pointing to the BCM being the problem. I ended up diagnosing myself with a wiring diagram I found online and was able to fix it.
All 10 of my Harleys have done the same thing /PLUS/ I can customize and personalize every one of my Harleys to the moon and back. You guys crack me up with all of the “My bike is better cuzz” bullshit. I have over 100K on four of my Harleys as well as a few thousand on a Virago and before 2001 I had as many on the HonYams I had too. The only ones that ever “failed” me were the Kawasakis (they were fast as a bat out of hell though) and the one shit pile Suzuki I tried. Cut with the my dick is longer than yours bullshit.
What does bcm stand for
Per Google it is a Body Control Module. I wonder if that is the same as an ECM, engine control module?
Dude I appreciate your honesty! Unlike other UA-cam influencers you are obviously not bought and paid for by HD. Thanks man!!!
This is crazy man… my father always taught me never buy first years model. Sorry you had this problem man…
There is ALWAYS an excuse for HD riders. It's never HD putting out crap products.
@@Txcowboy80I’ve had 4 Harley’s since 1989. Never had issues with ANY of them. You can keep saying it, doesn’t make it true. Seems like Harley stood behind the product and had it fixed. I am sure you can hear issues like this from every manufacturer.
@@Ickshter2112 absolutely every brand has issues here and there, but HD fanboys think the HD brand is immune to criticism.
@@Txcowboy80, lol as you take your new Mitsubishi in for a recall!😂

Could not agree more.
In 2019 I bought a 2004 Yamaha Road star Silverado for a total of $2800.
It needed a new enricher cable .
Last year needed a new battery.
Have put 14000 miles on it in that time bringing total mileage to
35 thousand + on second set of tires and have not had a problem with it, haven’t even adjusted the clutch. Yes this motorcycle just turned 20 years old.
I got two words for you techies posing as bikers (not you Hegshot), ROAD KING! Low-tech, no issues. Screw all that tech.
Totally Agree Man , Simplicity is better IMO . Less crap to go wrong . When I'm riding I want to hear the sound of that engine while rolling down the road . Ain't that what true riding's all about ? Hell yes it is !
I just bought a 7 year developed RKS 2023 with 6000km experience on it,….flawless…..❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I would like to see Harley include a 3 year factory warranty with their new bikes.
If they don’t charge extra, that would be an awesome idea
@@KodakMostHatedif they don't charge extra... that's hilarioua
Or,, You could buy a Ricer and not need a Warranty...........................................................
If you buy me a 2024 Honda Goldwing, I will say you are correct@@conceptchannel1112
@@conceptchannel1112 My ricer comes with a 3 year warranty.
I'm not a Harley guy but I like to visit your channel and see what's up.
Definitely shouldn't be having those kind of problems right out of the gate.
Thanks man
Bad deal !!! My POS DUCATI stopped working and left me stranded !!!🤔🤔🤔🤔🏍 who knew that I needed to replace the fuel filter every 125,000 miles !!!!!! 😂😂😂😂😂😂 best bike I ever had , sold it with 205,000 miles on it 😊
Man they are telling you the same thing they did to me when I had a radio issue, to " VIDEO TAPE THE PROBLEM" or bring it back. They updated the radio twice on my 2019 street glide and so far its working.
Good on you Helping fellow Riders who may encounter same or similar problems...Cheers!
You're scaring me! Most of us don't have contacts at Harley corporate so we may just get shafted with a fresh monthly payment and no bike! I want one but I think I'll give them a year to sort these things out.
Harley corporate told me they can't do anything to help me other than call the dealer be a middle man. They can't do anything else. My video on my channel explains my horror story
Great video man! I've had a 2024 Street Glide for about a month and a half now, about 250 mi on it an absolutely love it! Coming off for 2016 Fatboy. Only issue I've had is losing sound out my speakers which was temporarily corrected by pulling the main breaker from the fuse panel and reinstalling it a couple minutes later. Since then I've gotten both downloads and no issues again yet. Like you said new design new problems, got to be patient but hardly knocked it out of the park with these new 24s! Best of luck with yours!
Great video brother, having many of the same issues on my CA 23.5 CVO, and most local dealers, thank you for taking the time to make this. I have done several videos on my various bikes and dealing with HD issues, but glad you got some assistance. Maybe I need to link up with Matt as well.
Great video… I felt the same way about the floorboards on the 24s! Great it all worked out in the end! Ride Every Day and Enjoy It!
Thanks brother
You handled this well. We need more Harley lovers like you. 👍
That same starting issue happened to Thrashing Supply on a 2024 CVO Harley loaner bike. He was on the beach at Daytona.
I seen that as well
This is happening to sooooo many of the new 2024 models. Great bike easy fix. Enjoy it!
Thanks for the video! my '24 RG has the same no start issues and now im getting Key FOB not detected while riding. been to the dealer 5 times so far. Will be calling harley next week after seeing this.
Great info, I got a 2024 street glide and knock on wood no issues so far (250 miles). Sad to see quality issues with parts/bikes now a days but I don’t think that’s ever going away. I picked up a 2023 KTM 350 EXC-F and with less than 100 miles I was on my 3rd motor. First one decided to blow up on my way home from the dealer after only 25 miles.
Thanks for the heads up! I just bought the same bike/same color. No issues yet but only about 100 miles so far. Cleveland is still mostly cold.
Probably lucky that you are a popular youtuber. Us regular folks may not have gotten the attention you did.
Thanks for the video. I have the CVO ST. Only issue is the stereo sound sometimes not coming on. Have done the reset three times. Hopefully there’s a flash out there for it I’ve been traveling and haven’t had time to mess with it.
But I got to tell you I have a brand new center console boat with three Mercury 600’s. Two of the motors needed new PCM’s, and then a couple of alternators needed to be replaced. I tell you that only to make a point that it’s the technology with all these modern electronics in our different machines and not a Harley specific issue. My RV is the same thing.
We all want bigger, faster better, but that comes with having to put up with all the problems while they get sorted out. Once the punch list is complete it sure is fun.
I'm planning on purchasing this bike in the future. I appreciate your honest reviews.
I got mine from Pikes Peak HD, put about 450 miles on it a couple days later, I haven't had any issues with it. Same whiskey fire and black. They did a really good job on these bikes, just some kinks with the new tech on them.
When I picked my 2024 Road Glide up, they brought it outside and shut it down. They went through the controls, I got on it and it would not start, same issue as yours. They pulled the master fuse, put it back in and hadn’t had a problem since. I have just under 400 miles on it now. Hope it doesn’t creep up again
Ive got a 2021 street glide special ..that happen to rwice in a year's time,,a good friend told me to pull the fuse,,smh
That is called a clue.
Hard pass.
Thanks man. I hope there's no other issues with yours
@@HegshotRides Have almost 500 miles on it now. Took it to the dealer today to do the new infotainment update. It was a 30 mile ride home so I connected my phone to listen to some Tom Petty. The infotainment screen will show what is playing but after a few miles the music was still playing but not showing on the screen Gonna call them Tuesday and see what they say. I’m OK with working some of the bugs out in the tech but will have an issue with engine performance if that happens. I have to say this is a great bike and runs like a scalded dog in sport mode!😎👍
"Sport" mode? SMH...@@OverlandUSAHD
I appreciate this 👍🏼 Helps a ton!
Sorry you went through that. Glad you had everything resolved. Ride safe, everyone.
You get what you pay for anyone can make a pig look pretty if they put makeup on it, Harley has been selling a beer budget product and charging champagne prices.
I use to be a Harley Fan Boy but I got tired of getting RIPPED a new ass!! Overpriced & then you don’t get enough for your money, you have to cam your engine up to create more Hp because they’re slow asf! Once you finish upgrading the suspension & everything else it lacks, you then realize you’ve been ROYALLY PHUCKED!…
Mine was having similar issues, except I keep losing the stereo sound. And was getting trouble codes on the dash. They did every update. Haven’t had a chance to go for a decent ride because of the snow. But like you said, we pay enough money for him, we shouldn’t have any issues from the get-go.
Hey mine did this I just pulled the main fuse to reset the bike and it fixed the problem hope it helps
There is an update for the os but be careful because it can possibly brick the system. My bike is sitting at the dealership with 200 miles on it and it won't boot up.
We pay top dollar for shit that needs improving from factory, indians are lookin little better purchase for the money
This is great information. Thank you for sharing!
How do you feel about the wind buffeting? I traded my 2020 RGL on a 24 Onyx Pearl RG and the wind is brutal. I added the HD 10” windshield but the wind is still rough. I’m waiting for aftermarket windshield makers to catch up. Your thoughts on the buffeting?
What was the date you purchased the bike ? I bought mine in Vegas this February and so far only losing the speakers issues but no starting issues yet.
Good information Hegshot. Literally just picked up my new 2024 Road Glide today. Same color by the way.
Thanks man. the color is sweet.. Enjoy your new bike brother!
I’ve got 3400 miles on mine no issues other than running 85 in heavy rain back from Daytona choked it up a bit temporarily.
Glad you got the issues worked out, the 24 Road Glide is beautiful,, good luck with it, ride safe, love the channel 🏍️🏍️
Thanks brother
My neighbor has an HD....always problems with it. Mainly the M8 motor.
Jochen's folly. RIP, HD
Love the content man, local to CHarleston as well. Just bought my first Harley in Oct. 2015 Street Glide Special. As a short rider, your earlier videos especially helped me out a ton. Hopefully you do some sort of meet up soon, I would love to shake your hand and thank you in person! Ride Safe Brother!
Thanks brother
Glad you put this video out. I plan on buying a 24 SG or RG. Hope I don’t have this problem but thank you for letting us know. Love your videos. 🤙
Thanks man
The Thrashin’ Supply guys had the same problem with the bikes they rode at Daytona this year. Sounded just like what yours sounded like.
Loving a Harley is like loving a hooker.
Its gonna cost you and people are going to laugh at you.
Great heads up. Thanks
Really like the channel and I just got the 24 in white onyx pearl. Hoping it ends up going OK. Did you put the Harley chopped two pack on? I like the look
OK, you explained it at the end, thanks
Thanks man. The white onyx pearl looks great too
I have the same bike - 2024 Whiskey Fire and Black Road Glide. I think it's going to be the most popular color combo lol....though the Sharkskin was but guess we'll be a sea of Whiskey Fire Bikes! I have 500 miles on mine (live in WI, so although we've had a mild winter and I've been able to ride some still weather limited). I haven't had any issues starting or anything like you described, I did have some of the early speaker issues and what not that was fixed with the software updates. So far mine has been solid, but I am keeping an open mind and calm demeanor. I know that buying the first year model for so many changes I'm likely to experience weird issues and I accepted that before I signed the paperwork. That's not a Harley only issue, but basically ANYTHING you buy the first year of (motorcycles, cars, computers, software, etc) you have to be chill about being a bug tester to some degree. I am confident that Harley will fix anything that comes up and we'll have a solid experience with these bikes for years to come.
Thanks for the review buddy sorry I missed you at Daytona!
I’ve ridden Harley for 20 years. I now ride BMW and will never go back.
so they installed the stock bcm which was running the stock firmware whereas you had the bcm that was flashed with the new firmware?
Dude great video I have the exact same motorcycle and mines was doing the same thing thanks for your help
Dude, I'm glad you got it sorted out, but now I'm super nervous because I just picked my 2024 yesterday.
Don't worry, Harley Davidson most likely knows what the issue is, you are just going to have to pay another $5 to $10 grand to fix it, it's Harley baby.
Are you sure you didn't buy a washing machine with handlebars??
I hopenyou don't have any issues. Ride Safe, Brother
Thanks for this. Bought a 2024 Roadglide but haven't got delivery yet. Dealership said another week or so. Hopefully there won't be any issues but I'll know what to look for now 👊
Love your content sir! Thank you for that.
Same issues when I bought my 22 Indian Pursuit. Almost identical issues that took multiple trips to the dealer, and eventually Indian had an engineer get involved because the new bikes are so full of computers and electronics.
Very frustrating, but finally all good now. I'm sure they will get it figured out.
My friend has a 2022 Indian Challenger with nothing but computer problems and starting issues. It’s a total POS for $38k. 💩💩💩FJB 🖕🇨🇳
First year model blues. Kind of have to expect “something” to be a problem - It would be strange if there wasn’t something popping up in a brand new model. Glad you got it sorted relatively quickly.
I got almost 1k on mine. No problem so far
I just found out that our dealership is charging too much for parts. I’m gonna start buying my stuff from other dealerships. Even if I have to travel hundreds of miles to get them. Great review and glad your issues got worked out with your bike.
Think I’ll hold on to my ‘19 Limited for a while. Like others have said, this was a year of big changes and time is needed for the bugs to be worked out. And nice to see you in my neck of the woods. I’m in the Daytona Beach area and will consider going into Orlando or Sanford if I want to get a new bike.
Thanks for this.
I am glad that a bought my rg st 2023 in last in 2023 mine run real fine 😉
I have a ‘24 Street Glide and no issues. Two things I see being done incorrectly. First is you have to let the infotainment completely cycle before pressing start button takes about 30 seconds. Second only press then release the starter button do not hold the starter button down. Time will tell.
30 seconds to start a bike? what is it, a diesel? lol
Hahahahaha
Yeah, the infotainment system is a computer and needs to boot up. Kind of a pain but still love the bike
@DaemonWulf7 apparently you have to wait for the glow plugs to heat up the infotainment center😂
@@PitbullSoco ya gotta love how throwing new tech at something makes it less efficient. i can only imagine being the dumbass in the group with a 2024 goin "hold on, guys.. i gotta wait for my computer! don't leave without me!"
Man i really like the new colors and designs of the road glide and street glide. I ride a limited so no changes for them except color. Sweet bike i like the blue and green too.😮 I have heard of that no start issues on other 23 cvo.s
just wondering what a BCM is other than a defective part and what it does..?
Body Control Module
Does the sissy bar from last gen transfer to this one do you happen to know?
The only issue I had was an ABS and a triangle over the ride mode section of the bike. I turned it off and turned it back on and so far so good. But I will definitely be asking about issues related to this model, and see if I can stop something before it gets out of hand.
Man i feel your pain when you lose trust in your bike because constant issue i had the same problem with my bike that i bought new and after 3 separate issue on the bike could not trust it anymore to go on trip so i sold it and went for another brand of motorcycle and so far so good , and dont fear to go on long ride anymore peace of mine it a must for me anyway. Ride safe mate and hello from Montreal Quebec.
The issues you describe remind me of issues I had on a 2008 BMW K1200GT. BMW shop had no answer and after 30k miles I sold it for a Kawasaki Concours. Last BMW I will ever own. Glad to hear HD took care of you. Sure is a beautiful bike. I’m gonna hang on to my 2008 Screaming Eagle Road King while the gremlins get worked out. Love the channel. Cheers 🥃🥃
Thanks brother
I've been looking at the BMW K1200/1300S for some comfortable backroad fun. I've always been in love with the looks of the bike but stories like yours are pushing me towards a Concourse or VFR.
In 2021 i bought a brandnew Sportglide. The front suspension had “dip stick” and the suspension was like a Rocking horse! They put new SKF low friction in it. In the first 1000km there was also orange rust all over the tailbone and brake! This was coming out the diagonal tube from the rear side! At least they glued it with kit?!.!.?
Great video. Thank you. 💪🏼🇺🇸
Found me a couple nice VTX 1800s, and a Raider 1900, cheap, low miles , no tech, just fuel injection. Been years, dependable, like new . I just like getting on and going. . Maybe one day I will be in the Harley league.
They are really sweet looking. Ill upgrade in a few years. Till then my 17 RGU will keep me going.
Great video, thanks for sharing.
I appreciate Harley, but own a Kawasaki 650 2015... changed the oil regularly, one battery change, and we're still rocking and rolling in 2024. No other issues (yet). I will admit that I only have 21k+ miles though.
I love all of my motorcycles. Each of them are different. My Sportster, Triumph Tr-6 with a hard tail and magneto,my little BSA C-15 250 singles, my Airhead BMW'S , and especially my favorite my URAL side car outfit. Built like a tank. Wish they still came with the machine gun. Perfect for the Zombie Apocalypse.
I had same issue with H OG owners group. My bike died on side of road 75 miles from home. HOG told me they had no tow trucks available on a Saturday at 2pm. I’m also with you on passing up other dealers to get good service. I drive 300 miles round trip to get my bike serviced because of the quality of service.
I haven't had to deal with HOG Tow yet but I've also got Towing on my Insurance and Verizon cell plan. I like make sure the bases are covered.
I use AAA with RV that covers motorcycles and it will even cover another bike riding with us. Only needed it twice both rear flat related. Once hauled to dealer that was open and once to my home. Worth every penny.
@@SCBiker58, I have AAA too but haven’t had to use their towing service yet. I carry a plug kit for flat tires
@@bobhat2001 I carry a plug kit as well but first instance we ran over a huge shoulder bolt that the hole was the size of a nickel. I couldn’t plug it and tried. The second was we were parked downtown and someone took a knife to a brand new rear that had maybe 300 miles. Pissed is an understatement.
Is it yours to keep? I know some folks that got bikes to ride and review.
I had issues with my 23RG CVO..NO start...coolient dump..on over flow..on a hot start once..aka engine at running temp..then couple days later on cold start..dumped half quart thru over flow..coolient level was correct both times..have pictures..dealer saw them..looked at bike...never found issue to cause it to come out over flow...coolient level never exceeded.recommended level..no start was fixed..but I felt the same on a very expensive bike
Ya this is partly why I wait 1-2 years before buying a recently updated bike. Takes a couple of years to work out some of the kinks.
Is that the body control module? Glad you got it fixed. It sucks when you don't trust your ride to get you where your going
What camera mount are you using?
I have your same bike. Whiskey fire on black. 32 miles on it. Hopefully I won't have those issues but now i know what the problem is.
Hey Hegshot I have the same problem on 2024 RG only have 30 miles on bike. I appreciate your information. HD will pick up bike 3.25.2024. I hope they know about BCM.
I had a similar problem with a new Indian Chieftain...was also an ECM issue...they replaced it on warranty then never had a problem again. I guess that can happen with any brand.
What set up you have with video footage
Good video. Is that carbon tank piece just one screw and it pops off?
2 screws on the tank piece
The only reason I get another Harley at almost 80 years old... If I had a 75 ft boat... And needed a very expensive anchor😂😂😂... Good stuff, thanks for posting...👍👍👍
I'm curious what Harley guys think of the restyle of the fairing. I think it looks far better than the old one. The media center is also a huge improvement.
Thrashin Supply boys were in Daytona riding on the beach and one of the demo bikes did the same thing, turning over but not firing up, think I’ll keep my 22 RG SPEC til they work the bugs out, think that electronic dash will be an issue, once the elements get to it
What helmet are you rocking in this video
Great info. Still working on my break in.
Question for ya, I saw you use a Shoei helmet. Which model is it, and how do you like it? Thanks, ride safe
its the Shoei Noetec 2
@@HegshotRides thanks
Hopefully they get it all worked out.
I went to look at a 24 RG... First one wouldn't even start. Apparently all of these out of the factory need some kind of ecu flash. The second one started but it was incredibly rough. I know Harleys shake but holy shit it felt broke. After a rough start. Such a bummer.
I have the 2024 happened to me last week at 600 miles.
What helmet is the camo one? Thanks.
I've got a 2017 street glide new motor was back to the dealership to replace the oil pump
People make sure when you trade your bikes in that the bike your purchasing is the contracted properly or warranty will not pay until the issue is corrected. I traded for a 2012 heritage in January 2024 and did not pay attention to the milage on the contract, they put the milage from the bike i traded in on the contract. It's been in for steering steering bearing work that Harley in Texarkana TX decided not to repair it correctly by using the same old worn out parts but packed them with new grease. I received the bike back and the issue was still there. At the present time it's setting at Lonestar Harley in Tyler Tx on a rack in the shop torn down waiting on parts. Warranty won't pay at the moment because milage discrepancy on the contract, so now I've got to wait two more days for Harley to fix the discrepancy so warranty will pay. Haven't got to ride this bike but about 100 miles since January and most of that is riding back to the shop for repairs. It's bad when you ask the shop maintenance boss what all new parts did you put in the steering stem and says! We only repacked the old bearings and had to overtighen the stem bolt to get most of the slack out. I wanna go visit the man that said it but I'd end up in jail, that's taking a chance on killing someone if that was to break going down the highway. The expression on my wife's face when she heard the man say what they had done. I'll be purchasing a Indian if i ever decide to get another bike. This is my second go around with Harley Davidson anyways there won't be a third.
Okay. A new bcm fixed the problems. Thanks for the headsup!
Another reason not to buy anything from Harley the first year.
never buy 1st gen anything
Ever
Never buy HD at all
That's for certain !!!

Just for clarification purposes :
What is BCM on a Harley?
BCM Dynamic Load Isolator for Harley-Davidson Motorcycles
Custom Dynamics® Dynamic Load Isolator (DLI) isolates the motorcycle's Body Control Module (BCM) allowing for the use of almost any aftermarket lighting product or electrical accessory. Simple plug and play installation provides isolated power, accessory & ground output banks.
Thanks for being honest about your issues - Geeez😢. I get what you got when I go out to restaurants when I get my half and half tea - it’s called 🍋 LEMON… sorry man hope you get it straight
You must live in the Jacksonville area?
I got into a “discussion” with my local Harley and told them I wouldn’t buy until it’s been out for a couple years. He poo poo’d my concerns as unfounded😂
At about 170 miles I got a P2304 code ignition coil b primary control circuit high.
The most reliable bike I've ever owned was a 1982 Yamaha 650 Seca air-cooled 4 cyl. Bought it brand new in '84 when I was stationed in California. Sold it in 2000 with 102,000 miles on the stock motor.
Still had good compression and ran great...needed new carbs. Most of the issues with vehicles today relate to unreliable computer chips/electronics. I wouldn't buy a 1st-year release of any vehicle today...they need a couple years to iron out the glitches. Nice bike...glad they seemingly have your trouble figured out. It's frustrating to spend that much on anything and have those problems.
I was stationed at Point Mugu in 83 to 86. Some great riding, but I don't miss all the nuts
liked video. may 2024 Road glide broke down in north baja mexico with less than 600 miles on it. bad alternator. Hog roadside assistance was no help
I should have bought. 2023 when my local dealer was practically giving them away to make room for 24’s.
