      I got on my buddies from a Honda 250x and holy crap. That’s a lot of power. He’s new and got stuck in this hilly section and I rode it out for him. I don’t think it was his best decision to start on a 700, what do you think @atvondemand

    • @6k932
      @6k932 2 роки тому

      @@ashh2748 he should’ve gone with 400 because the 700 is too much power. I’m 15 and I have a 700 but that’s because I have experience with powerful quads

    The Raptor 700 is the first quad I've owned. Its extremely fast, extremely comfortable, the suspension is outstanding and its not snappy at all. Ive ridden motorcycles my whole life and utility quads but this is a nice change. Sure, you probably wont hit 3rd gear on the trails unless you want to send it, but you gotta watch out and not ride like an idiot. I also think Yamaha should bring back the classic Banshee.

    I bought one after riding dirt bikes for years. It’s extremely quick and nimble and a fun trail machine.
    I put 22” rear tires on it and dropped a tooth on the front sprocket. I did this because we have a lot of mud on the trails in the southeast and the stock tires didn’t work in the slop.

    The motor is pretty great for trail riding. If you get slowed down or completely forget to downshift it can usually chug right on up a hill. It is softer on the top end if you are a fast, experienced rider, but you can still go faster than most people ever want to. Did they talk about the mileage? It's pretty good if you're not constantly power sliding.

    Ive had my 06 SE model since it came off the showroom floor and since then put a six pack rack, skid plates, HMF slip on pipe with fuel controller, set of 2" ITP off set wheels, put a 13 tooth front sprocket on and a trail tech computer.. with regular maintenance this thing goes forever, its got over 11,000 miles and counting with nothing broken yet (knock on wood) couldn't ask for a better all around bike!

    I enjoyed my 660 I had set up for MX. It was a little heavy compared to my 250R, but I still liked it and I wished I never sold it.
    Thinking about selling my MX 250R now as I don't race anymore after my back injuries. Sure wish someone would buy it..... PEP ZPS suspension, LSR A arms, swing arm, fullbore, bored to 265...
    That 700 looks like it would be a good GNCC quad with a couple mods.. Maybe even an open class MX quad with a longer swing arm, wider a arms, good suspension, and a few other things

      Logan Curry I know this comment is over a year old now, but I actually just started looking at a 2018 Raptor 700 and was absolutely blown away by the price. A dealership near me has one almost $1k under MSRP, and here I am expecting the price to be over $3k higher! Should be purchasing within the next month or so. The Graphite color on the new 700’s is just gorgeous.

    My dream quad is a Polaris outlaw 525 irs or without irs doesn’t matter but I’ve gotta say that the Yamaha raptor 700 is a really close second. They just really need to bring sport quads they’ve completely forgot about an important segment. I get that Yamaha still makes them but it’s not the same without any competition.

    This quad awesome i just got mine on Saturday blue and white 2016 raptor 700 and this quad is a monster and tears up all of the hills i hit haha awesome review btw i watched this vid even before i got it ha anyways its a nice quad I suggested whoever wants to get in off-roading I recommend this quad from my experience it has nice handling and awesome power doesnt have the best torque like the yfz 450 but the raptor 700 would beat it in a race anyways its a nice quad!😆

    • @ATVonDemand
      @ATVonDemand  8 років тому +2

      +760 Desert rat Congrats on the new machine!!! We almost agree with everything you said 110%. The Raptor produces considerably more torque than a YFZ. The Raptor doesn't rev as high in the RPMs but it produces a LOT more torque. That's what makes the Raptor such a hill killer. Either way, we're glad you love the 700 as much as us. Your 2016 is even better than the one in this video. Yamaha just keeps making it better. Thanks a lot for watching our test and for taking the time to share your experience.

      @ATVonDemand  9 років тому +2

      yamaharaptor69 While we liked Yamaha's power upgrades in 2015, what we were expecting was a 49 inch wide version with updated suspension. After all, most of the trails being cut these days are 50 inches at the narrowest point and many are being cut at 60 inches wide for the growing UTV segment. A wider Raptor would be more at home on the track, dunes, and desert trails. Watch for our version of this machine in the next few months.

    Did they make one with an automatic trans? How does shifting work? Is it just a foot shift or does it have a manual clutch?

    • @ATVonDemand
      @ATVonDemand  3 роки тому

      They never made an automatic 1. It has a foot shift with a 5 speed transmission and reverse with a manual clutch just like a dirt bike. OK so dirt bikes don't have reverse. Anyway, if you are interested in a sport quad and don't want to have to use the clutch Recluse is a clutch company that makes auto clutches For manual shift machines like the Raptor. If you have any other questions please don't hesitate to follow up.

    People, hear me out, especially if you are a rookie with quads/bikes and you are looking to buy one of these!
    I wanted a quad for a Long time and once I got some spare money I wanted o buy a quad, some Chinese model with 200kw or so, just to drive around and get used to it.
    Then a friend of mine who knows about bikes told me "Maaaan if you are buying a quad you need to buy THE REAL DEAL and that is Yamaha Raptor"
    So I checked it out, saw all the videos about it and was like Yeeeeeah I'm gonna ride it so bad like these guys I see on videos.
    I had it for 15 days and I had like 4-5 rides before I fell into a BIG HOLE like 4 meters deep.
    I was speeding like a moron because this machine ASKS FOR MORE THROTLE, it is amazing really, IF YOU KNOW HOW TO USE IT.
    While I was flying towards the ground aside my quad (And that was like 1 second, or maybe 2), the only thing that was going thru my mind was "This is it, I'm dead, this is how I die"
    Luckily I just had a totally destroyed knee and I am still recovering, it was 2.5 years ago. It will never recover to how it used to be, but I am really grateful to God that it was just a knee, I'm happy to be alive :)
    You need to hear this also, just to think thru if you still want to buy a monster like Raptor and don't have much experience.
    After the first operation, witch took place 10 days after fall I spent 3 months in bed, laying on my back because I couldn't move to side, not to mention stomach. First month I had to take a pee in bed, in medical bottle because I couldn't go to bathroom!!!
    You think that this corona lockdown was bad, just imagine spending all of that time in bed, unable to do anything on your own, you would literally die if you don't have someone to look after you :D
    Months and months of therapy and walking with help of those hand sticks and to cut the already long story short, I got to just one conclusion - IT WAS TOTALLY NOT WORTH IT. :D :D And thank you God for helping me in that situation

    I have a question can someone explain to me what to do when you buy a new raptor 700?
    I heard that you have to do all gears at the same time so you won’t damage it.
    Need help !

      We've loved the Banshees we've owned through the years. They were fast but they just don't handle and aren't as comfortable through. Maybe we will review one in the future. They're such a thrill to ride.

    • @Snags243
      @Snags243 5 років тому +1

      ATVonDemand I agree with that, the banshee is waay over powered for its handling capabilities but once you put some after market suspension and other bits and pieces it becomes a handling beast!. But that would be awesome if you do a video on the history of banshees, there’s nothing on UA-cam about them

    one thing the 700R is horrible at is doing big jumps or just doing alot of jumps in general,
    the hybrid frame is just not strong enough for that and will break at some point

    • @ATVonDemand
      @ATVonDemand  2 роки тому +1

      We have heard of some people cracking their frames near the footpegs who do a lot of jumping. Our head editor did the same thing to his Banshee .ack in the day. Every ATV frame will break at some point. The Raptor is much more reliable than any 4 by 4 when it comes to riding hard. Bottom line, ride it heart it will break.

    I'm new to atvs I'm 6'6 140 lbs I was wondering what a good atv for me is I wanna ride trails would the raptor 700r be good?

    • @ATVonDemand
      @ATVonDemand  7 років тому +3

      prettyboyzay of all the sport ATVs past and present, the Raptor 700 would be ideal machine for you. It fits larger Riders rather well. sport ATVs like the Raptor 700 are ideal for people looking to get into spirited, slightly faster paced trail riding where a light Exile machine with excellent suspension works best. for more casual exploration, hauling tons of gear along for the ride or spending a lot of your time wallering in the mud, you may want to check out the Grizzly 700 4 X4. it's pretty fast in sporty but a good sport ATV like the Raptor 700 will hide from most other vehicles in the woods. let us know if you have any other questions. thanks for watching.

    it seems like the people here know what theyre talking about so im going to ask a question and would love feedback. im buying my first quad ever (no previous experience riding) and im 23 years old. is a yamaha blaster a good quad to start or will i get bored of it because it's slow? don't really know how to tackle this. i have about 1200 to spend so i obviously cant get something amazing but i want to know what direction i should head.

    • @ATVonDemand
      @ATVonDemand  9 років тому +3

      The Blaster offered perhaps the most performance for the money of any sport ATV ever made. The same holds true on the used market. Try to spend a few hundred dollars more and buy a late model Blaster with hydraulic disc brakes for the most trouble free performance. Good stock power and adding an exhaust, removing the airbox lid, and rejetting make it a lot more fun. There are lots of upgrades out there, or just buy one, ride it for a year or two and sell it. If you buy a nice one and take care of it you will hardly lose any money when you sell it in a couple of years.

      @Agile_Mind 9 років тому

      Thank you. And Jacob I will most likely not get a banshee as my first quad. My best friend owns one and the thing is no joke. I'd rather ride for a year or two then get a banshee

    • @kenshinhimura9387
      @kenshinhimura9387 9 років тому

      Do NOT get a blaster. They are a kids quad made for little children. You will be furious at how slow and tiny it is. A nice 400 class race quad or a Raptor is a good starter quad. You can putt around all day long on a 4 stroke and when you get better you can give her some gas and have fun. I've been riding quads since I was a little baby and race quads are very tame if they are 4 stroke.

    • @TakeThis_L
      @TakeThis_L 9 років тому

      Schlomm you should get the banshee, tbh when i got my first quad after like idk maybe after 2 months maybe, you realize you want more power. And then you have to go through the trouble of selling it and buying another one.. just go with the better choice, and don't get a blaster.

      It could be if you understand the risks and take your time learning the ropes. if you respect the machines larger size, the engine is beginner friendly. Assuming your old and large enough to handle one.
