My friend just bought me a welo opal pendant for my birthday and I am OBSESSED. It's only about half the size of my pinky nail, but it's absolutely gorgeous with strong flashes of red, green, and golden yellow. I have another uncut opal that I really want to make into jewelry one day. It's a pale, powder-blue opal with flashes of green and blue on one side. That one is about an inch by half an inch by half an inch or so, but after trimming off the potch and shaping it, it would probably not be much bigger than the pendant I just got. Gods I love opal so much.
Loved the vid as always. omg.. that soft gem, i was scared that it would shatter haha. i still wish that the close ups of the gemstones were in video instead of stills. it would be awesome to see the sparkle and color gradient of all the gems as the light shifts.
🍝🍝🍝🍝🍝🍝 Loved this one! Bill is such a lovely humble guy and yet sooo clever! Love the high level of expertise you guys have yet you're all really down to earth fun and relatable! Makes learning fun and easy. ❤️
I just LOVE color! I don’t wear jewelry anymore though. It makes me nervous with all that jiggling. I like to see the colors on people. Your gems are beautiful but I could never wear those big ole things! I’m 5’2”, and 72 years old (little ole lady). Subscribed!
Guys. I had no idea JTV was, like. An actual shopping network channel. With, like, an online store. I didnt realize until I saw a JTV vending machine that dispensed $25 gift cards to the website. I legit thought it was just the UA-cam channel.
I thought the rubellite is gorgeous but the sphalerite is absolutely breathtaking. But the fact that it's delicate means it would be difficult to be used in jewelleries right??
Yes agree its rich color and high dispersion or 'fire' (which is three times higher than that of diamond), makes it truly an outstandingly beautiful gem. You are right it is challenging to cut and fashion, due to it being a softer gemstone. However you can still wear and enjoy it in jewelry but with care.
First I would like to congratulate you on finishing your masters. I would imagine that a BS in gemologist would be one of the most difficult degrees that you could imagine, but a masters I don’t even think that I could begin to understand what is involved. Second, I live in central Maryland and have a fair collection of various types of rocks ,minerals , and stones. I was wondering if anyone knew where I could take them to get analyzed and specify what types they are. I have just about everything from sandstone to possible meteorites and if nothing else than to have them cataloged. Any help would be appreciated.
A local college with a mineralogical department could probably help you with that. Some colleges have a geology department that could also help you, especially with minerals.
I have a stone like the rubelite you showed. I shine my grewn laser through it it lights up red, it also lights up red with uv. And it changes a bit between purple red and blue in sunlight while its turning. Any clues??
I would loved to have seen a photo the entire rubelite in it's original state (after it was cleaned up of course). If I heard right, it was almost 50 pounds?
Liking your channel now but sometimes you talk too fast. I just stop and listen multiple times. Great information for us lovers of the gemstones. I am newly certified but need experience to put into practice!
Hey I'm from Trinidad a country in the Caribbean. You brought to gemstones and when I'm older I want to be a gemologist. I want to thank you
I love opal. My wedding ring has opal. I didn't know that opal comes in different colors like the blue one. Wow
You can't say you love it,if you dont even know about it 😊
I absolutely love Sphalerite. I have a 36ct cushion cut. It is also from Spain. I love my opals too.
My hubby loves his sphalerite too. We collect together. Our largest is 19 carat. I would love to have a big opal like that someday.
I like that quote very much "In gemstones, not all flaws are fatal". It can be applied to many things in life. Great video.
Here Bill: 🍝🍝🍝🍝🍝

The red rubellite looks gorgeous. The color is so pretty and it's huge! I love it!
Me, having just ordered glass stones on Amazon to fill up a vase I have:
"I'm something of a gemologist myself..."
Lots to cut if you have a facet machine.

You finished your Masters? Congratulations!
How do you cut a stone? Like a Diamond
you don't cut them you grind them with either industrial diamonds or diamond paste.
Could you imagine being the guy cutting, rubbing these knowing you could F up a very expensive pc mtrl.
