Not to mention "WAT POW-WER!" years ago i used 'fuck yo couch" for real....my friend & i were moving his Couch & we Couldn't Get It Thru The Door. Never Laughed So Hard.

Eddie did an interview in the late 80s, about having to fire Charlie as his head of security, because Charlie was just popping off on everyone. It was hilarious!
Yess, thank you! So glad yall finally did this one! Dave is the GOAT! This sketch introduced Rick James to a whole new generation. People said "Im Rick James bitch" so much everywhere after this is for years that its hard to understate the cultural impact Chapelle Show had on the world.

I went to see James Brown in a little club in L.A. on the Sunset Strip in the 80's. Rick James got out of jail that day and came directly to the club to get on stage with James Brown...it was wild! RIP to him and Charlie Murphy.
I remember watching the first episode and me and my friends were hanging out and then the Clayton Bigsby skit came on. What a way to start off one of the best shows ever. That cemented dave Chappelle as one of the funniest comedians ever in my opinion.
By the way, This one was more iconic than the Prince one. Dave Chappelle talked about how people would always yell at him in the street even when he was with his family “I’m Rick James bitch”
I can't imagine how it feels for Eddie these days, Charlie really looked out for him and was there for him so much during his career. RIP Charlie Murphy but also my thoughts are with Eddie cause I dread losing my big brother like that
Dave made references to Black Magic (hair grease), Delirious (Eddie's hit solo standup), Cold-Blooded (one of Rick James' hits) and so many other things you would not know without growing up at that time.
Charlie was a gentleman. I saw him at SFO, and I nodded, and he waved back. The flight was delayed and I was sitting across from a woman and her 12 year old soon. We got to talking I said Charlie Murphy is sitting over there with a small group. The kid went up to him and asked for his autograph. He couldn't be nicer. RIP Charlie 🙏
He's a habitual line stepper

Charlie talked about it on this show in the deleted scenes. The scene is called that's my brother
There was a part 2 to the Rick James story, but most people don't react to it. It has "Rick" behind a bar wearing a cowboy hat.
