Eddie did an interview in the late 80s, about having to fire Charlie as his head of security, because Charlie was just popping off on everyone. It was hilarious!
I went to see James Brown in a little club in L.A. on the Sunset Strip in the 80's. Rick James got out of jail that day and came directly to the club to get on stage with James Brown...it was wild! RIP to him and Charlie Murphy.
Dave made references to Black Magic (hair grease), Delirious (Eddie's hit solo standup), Cold-Blooded (one of Rick James' hits) and so many other things you would not know without growing up at that time.
I remember watching the first episode and me and my friends were hanging out and then the Clayton Bigsby skit came on. What a way to start off one of the best shows ever. That cemented dave Chappelle as one of the funniest comedians ever in my opinion.
I can't imagine how it feels for Eddie these days, Charlie really looked out for him and was there for him so much during his career. RIP Charlie Murphy but also my thoughts are with Eddie cause I dread losing my big brother like that
Not only was Charlie Murphy funny as hell but he was also in the Navy and he practiced martial arts and he was his brother Eddie Murphy's bodyguard for a little while before he got his comedy and acting going. You ought to hear Joe Rogan talk about some stories that involves Charlie Murphy. Wild s***
By the way, This one was more iconic than the Prince one. Dave Chappelle talked about how people would always yell at him in the street even when he was with his family “I’m Rick James bitch”
Charlie was a gentleman. I saw him at SFO, and I nodded, and he waved back. The flight was delayed and I was sitting across from a woman and her 12 year old soon. We got to talking I said Charlie Murphy is sitting over there with a small group. The kid went up to him and asked for his autograph. He couldn't be nicer. RIP Charlie 🙏

That is one of my favorites from Chappelle show. I've seen it 50 times but bust a gut laughing every time. Glad you all showed this one.
Still making me tear up 20 years later 😂
Eddie did an interview in the late 80s, about having to fire Charlie as his head of security, because Charlie was just popping off on everyone.
It was hilarious!
Charlie talked about it on this show in the deleted scenes. The scene is called that's my brother

Rick James is the greatest black rock star of all time.
Most people I know can't name more than 3 songs he has
the King of Punk Funk
I don't suppose Jimi Hendrix rings a bell huh? James is obviously a legend tho.
Don't forget about Chuck berry and Jimi Hendrix they are in the conversation aswell
There’s one more scene of Charlie, Murphy, and Rick James, the ending to this story is the best part.
