Chris D'Elia posted the convos showing that he asked them their ages, then stopped talking to them if they were under 21, all the women then dropped their accusations without filling charges. He never went to court or had to pay anyone off, once he told his side of the story everyone left him alone. By then he had already been dropped from tv shows and endorsements and the public at large had made up their minds and moved on.
Too bad he's still kind of a dick regardless.
And he's not even funny about it, either. His brand of comedy is to be an asshole but he's not even good at it.
The way I see it, the comedy world didn't lose anybody of significance when Chris was shunned by the public.

RIGHT ON. You said it exactly how it went down. Chris is one of my faves right now, going to see him in a couple months. I actually see his "cancelling" as a good thing, because now he can just say whatever he fuckin wants. It just sucks that no one redacted any sort of allegations in the news, so his name was never publicly cleared and he's gonna have that with him... But REALLY his fans, like me, are stronger than ever and sticking with him and fuck with him HEAVY.
He also paid them off but you left out the bit that proves he's a piece of trash because you're offended by it.
Comedians like Bill Burr, Dave Chapelle, George Carlin, etc. are necessary for all of us to be able to laugh at ourselves & think for ourselves instead of listening to the media, politicians, religion, etc.

My context, as a trans person (female to male) about your age is that 20 years ago when I transitioned most of the trans women I knew couldn't leave their homes without being insulted or worse. Trans men had it better because they could blend in better, but some trans women just don't. I met a gay couple (two transwomen) and one was young and pretty but always wore heavy pancake makeup. I was told the reason was that she was followed home from a gay club by a group of men, was jumped, and beat up and had her face slashed with a swichblade. She had to hide the scars you see. More effeminate gay men I knew ran the same risk. They just never knew when a member of "the heterosexual community" was going to yell filth and throw a bottle at them, or worse.
I knew a gay man who was badly injured by a drunk driver. He ended up in a long term care facility, body broken and brain damaged. First thing his parents did was ban his longtime partner from ever seeing him again, as they thought homosexuals were evil. Since there was no such thing as gay marriage then, this was perfectly legal as they were his legal guardians. It was all just part of life, at least in Colorado Springs where I lived, probably other places too outside of major cities. It just wasn't talked about the way it is now, and everybody couldn't immediately communicate with the entire world on social media using a phone. People were more isolated. Take it from me, the world is a better place now. The world you grew up in, to really put it in context, was a world where people like us were pretty much invisible, unless a heterosexual thug wanted to hurt us or a heterosexual politician wanted to pass laws against us. Dave Chapelle getting flak from people now and then, while he rakes in millions and lives like a king, is the preferable world.

@@lendog725 Not every person that flys the confederate flag is racist if that's your presumption. Lynrd Skynrd flew the confederate flag at all of their concerts, even in Oakland, California in 1977 and they weren't racist.
The Confederate Flag that still exists is the standard that was used in battle to be able to discern a Confederate unit from a Federal unit. That is the truest description or meaning of the controversial flag.
Now it means something else. To some it is a racist symbol. To others it symbolizes the stoic drive for Independence , Liberty and Freedom upon which your
country is based.
Therefore in some cases this flag is a symbol of thinking and belief that should be reviled. That does not mean that it should be eradicated because it flies for another reason whenever it is displayed.
I say it flies as a symbol of defiance of being forced to do anything. It symbolizes your right to do for yourself as you choose and it is probably the only form of true Americanism that exists. In its purest form it symbolizes the Bill of Rights, the rights of the individual American.
There is much more to this subject.

Really great comedy takes intelligence. Without intelligence, you end up with stupid, but not funny. And this is why Dave Chappelle is truly a top tier comedian. We need more Dave Chapelle’s. So many “comedians” have forgotten what comedy is supposed to be; nothing is off limits. Dave is incredible, he’s funny as hell and gives zero fucks if you get butthurt.
I don't think they forgot what comedy is. I think certain groups have made it impossible for comedians to be funny. Those groups are the minority of the population but scream about things the loudest and have zero sense of humor. Too much in their feelings.

But I believe I saw a Netflix on them and after a few years they were educated on the confederate flag and hated being associated with it. I could be wrong but it follows with the ignorance created with how people grew up and still do in those areas.

First of all I love you guys reactions. My comment here is in reference to saying going to school and having a good grade point average means no one should question you. Disagree completely. I can study and read text books just the same as someone in school. A degree is not a guarantee never to be wrong. Also studying certain subjects does not guarantee aptitude in those subjects. A good example of that is the fact that people go to driving school and pass yet there are so many bad drivers out there.
It is better to keep an open mind for the chance of being enlightened than to assume you are smarter for whatever reason. More schooling, older, etc. Being humble, honest, and hungry is the best way to learn.
I think you guys are good dudes though. Smart and funny.

I don’t believe you can cancel anyone unless the supporters and fan base are behind the cancellation. So a group can say an artist or comedian or actor is canceled but if their fans don’t agree with it, that’s all they’re doing is talking.
You should react to Dave's speech at the induction of Jay-Z to the Hall of Fame. So good! Also, there is a performance by Eminem & LL Cool J that is pretty cool that is from the same induction ceremony.

He’s definitely been performing since the 90s. I saw him in 1993, at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. He was doing a thing about cunnilingus, and asked me in the audience what I thought about it? I was so gob-smacked I didn’t have a clue what to say, as I had no experience on the subject, especially as I’m gay and I wasn’t OUT at the time!

The allegations on Chris D'elia weren't true. It was vindictive women trying to get him cancelled. He never met up with anyone underage, and all allegations were proven wrong when he released his evidence. He WAS meeting up with lots of ladies on tour, and is therapy/counseling for sex addiction and on the up and doing better. The man and his real fan base are stronger than ever.
