I recommend you learn Japanese or a Latin based language because the romantic languages of Europe are beautiful. Btw Caribbean culture is dope as hell. ST04 Obviously not for him from the fact that he is learning it, and also there are definitely increasing number of Korean learners so they also don't find it useless either. Also gtfo with "certain language is useless" kind of bs. Who the f are you to devalue a language based on your definition of "usefulness"?
code-switching (going between languages in one conversation/etc) is normal for multi-lingual people :v it sucks when you suddenly start using the languages you know less when you somehow forget the (for example) english word instead of what it is in French?? and its like. why
Same but with english-turkish-german-korean-norwegian sometimes every language gives 1 word to sentence it is just so funny but it makes sense in my mind lol

I can relate to this so much. Born in Somalia, raised in United Kindom. Trying to balance two cultures is tough but super fun at times. It's like having access to two different worlds. Life is up and down no matter what though so learn from the tough times and make the most of the happiness in your life.
I had a Korean friend in Middle school and he Invited me to have Korean BBQ with his family. I remember being soooo excited about eating Korean BBQ because I had heard so much about it and I had never tried it. So he sends me the address where to meet him and it is in a park, my mom drops me off and he is there with some of his family and they are Barbecuing at a grill like hot dogs, burgers, and chicken. I asked him kind of confused, "this is Korean BBQ , it's just hotdogs and burgers this is American BBQ" he laughed, pointed at his mom barbecuing and said "Yeah, Korean's barbecuing." -_- Well that was 10 years ago and I have yet had an actual authentic Korean BBQ...
Do it! It's easier than you think and super interesting. Can only recommend getting into it. There's plenty of free online resources out there to start with.
I would think one of the major differences would be the hierarchy. Addressing older and younger people with appropriate tone and honorifics. That's not really a thing in America. We are all taught to honor our elders. And I think that's something we all stick to. Our elders are important no matter which ethnicity you come from. But we don't usually use formal speaking when around schoolmates or coworkers who are older. We generally tend to see each other on equal terms if we have the same job titles or are only a few years older. Most of the people I work with on night shift are young. Barely out of high school or about to graduate. But I don't see a point in having them address me formally even if I'm 10 years older. However, I will use formal tone when its appropriate. My boss or customers "Yes sir/ma'am."
barryzeunicorn im kinda sad about it buzzfeed sucks so much. They just lie about anything and dont take time to know the litterature on real topics. Like watch jordan peterson and realise some stuff.
I saw the name “Jay Park” without looking at the guy and was like “HOW DID THEY GET JAY PARK TO BE ON BUZZFEED?!?!” Then I saw that it wasn’t the singer😂 Loved this video though💜
I would love to hear what it's like for those younger students now, whether they face the same issues today as these guys did back when they were that age or if anything has changed in this post-bts-in-America time.
This video was sooo cute!! I love hearing about how ppl experience American culture. We have A LOT of bad but there is so much to explore here and absorb. I really hope you do more videos like this because I think if ppl see and hear about other’s experiences they can begin to be more tolerant.
This was a really cool video they should make this into a series for all types of people who come here. I would love to hear their experiences . Really fun video
This is actually sorta sad watching as a gyopo. The struggle when you have to learn english and not get accepted in a society that we had no choice to live in is actually really traumatic. So many states in U.S. still so judgemental towards Asians. And if we can't speak and understand Korean as well either we still aren't accepted in Korean communities. So like growing up the whole time for me it's been like "well wtf" I just hope people realize like Asians have struggle of their own too. ya feel
Lol YUP asians are not minorities here in land Southern California. Especially diamond bar, lol I love how mostly everyone here and from the female version come from Irvine, diamond bar. That's were it is for some good cuisine (Rowland heights). If you know Colima rd...you know
This video really helped me a lot. I’m not Korean but Chinese and Thai so when I was growing up, I was around my grandma and she would speak Chinese and I would understand but didn’t really think about it. My family started pretending like that’s not our culture (we’re also American) but it hurt a lot to almost have my own culture be hidden bc of family that was married in. Thank you and I hope people do come to an understanding with all cultures.
Yeah I totally understand you guys me too, living in Korea as a black guy it was not that easy but nowadays young generation became so civilized now Korea is the best country for foreighers to live comfortably~~ I enjoyed the video keep it up~~
I get so shocked when I see my friends walking around in their house with shoes on cause in Africa I better take that off before u step into the house😂😂
I live in an area where there aren’t a lot of Koreans in Michigan, so there’s little to no other Koreans in my area. I’m in high school right now, and I’m not very social, so when one of my friends told me there were one or two other Koreans in our school, I was kind of excited. However, they were different from me because I have Korean parents, while they were adopted by a white family. And not only were we influenced differently with culture, I am the only female Korean in my high school and we are in different grades. I don’t know the boys at all, so it’d be kinda weird to try to be friends with them. I really wish there was someone in my grade that was Korean and maybe have the same classes together.
Well, most schools in Asia overall, have Saturday school, and some of them have after school tutoring as well. I guess that's something unique to Asian countries itself. I am jealous of American and European schooling now.

Also gtfo with "certain language is useless" kind of bs. Who the f are you to devalue a language based on your definition of "usefulness"?
Minsang1st It's useless, get over it.
code-switching (going between languages in one conversation/etc) is normal for multi-lingual people :v it sucks when you suddenly start using the languages you know less when you somehow forget the (for example) english word instead of what it is in French?? and its like. why
Same but with english-turkish-german-korean-norwegian sometimes every language gives 1 word to sentence it is just so funny but it makes sense in my mind lol
This is the most purest thing I’ve watched in a while and just like with the girl version I had such a great time watching them and listening to their opinions and struggles. Especially seeing their reactions to our food a culture was very entertaining!!! Thank you!🥰
I'm glad you guys did this video because it's good to know how you felt in a new cultural environment. It's also very helpful to me even though my situation is the flipside. I moved to Korea a few months ago and I'm American. So thank you for the advice even though it was for Korean Americans, it still applies just the same. 감사합니다~
I can relate to this so much. Born in Somalia, raised in United Kindom. Trying to balance two cultures is tough but super fun at times. It's like having access to two different worlds. Life is up and down no matter what though so learn from the tough times and make the most of the happiness in your life.
barxada wardhiiglay yoo fellow soma 😁 i live in the netherlands we are neighbors haha
I like your comment.
HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAH
awesome
it's like when indians offer you chai and the pull out a "Chai" tea bag... not the same.
Josh are there any Korean restaurants nearby?
go to L.A. best KBBQ ever
I think it’s cool how they switch from Korean to English
Speaking in Korean : Looking at the subtitle
Speaking in English :Still looking at the subtitle😆

THIS IS THE QUALITY CONTENT I SIGNED UP FOR BUZZFEED videos like this are so good
Korean guys are hot as hell
True tho
Idk about him but I am
ScarlettP oh boy oh yea 😂
한국에 핫가이 없어요... THERE'S NO HOT GUY IN KOREA!!
Reported for fetishizing a culture
Please keep doing these Korean videos :') I freaking love them
I’d love to learn Korean if it means I can learn more about the culture and get to know people like these guys.
Do it! It's easier than you think and super interesting. Can only recommend getting into it. There's plenty of free online resources out there to start with.
The alphabet is pretty easy as well.
I love you guys casually talking each other like this. Great video.
그죠?
저는 우리도 미국처럼 개개인이
나이에 무관하게 평등했으면 좋겠어요! ^*
I can totally relate. When I moved from Taiwan to LA, a lot of the same struggles.
I only realised at the very end that I was smiling like an idiot the whole way through.
Narcissistjin Yayayayayaya me too😂
“I don’t think I think that much” 😂
i didn't know Danny worked with BuzzFeed!! any OWL fans here?? *karate chop arm* "thank you!"
I'm still confused Lul. I thought he was just some translator for OWL but he works for buzzfeed too???
YEET I NOTICED IMMEDIATELY
Overwatch League :) He's the korean translator for OWL. Overwatch is a game btw.
isn't he just friends with evan?? (0:21) i dont think they work at buzzfeed
barryzeunicorn im kinda sad about it buzzfeed sucks so much. They just lie about anything and dont take time to know the litterature on real topics. Like watch jordan peterson and realise some stuff.
the casual language switching in this video is delightful, clean switching accents and languages mid word
It's amazing to see how they revert to Korean on a dime like that and then the conversation flows so naturally.
이런 컨텐츠ㅠ 미국에 살고있는 학생들에게 큰 힘이 되는거같아요ㅠㅠ 나만 그렇게 느끼는게 아니였어..
@1:46 @1:54
When he makes English and Korean together I find it so satisfying
Mixes*
“I found out there was no school on Saturday”
All of them: ahhhhhhh!
😂😂😂
Mind blowing
More videos with Danny please. He is hilarious! 😂
korean sounds so chill
So like growing up the whole time for me it's been like "well wtf"
I just hope people realize like Asians have struggle of their own too. ya feel
Lol YUP asians are not minorities here in land Southern California. Especially diamond bar, lol I love how mostly everyone here and from the female version come from Irvine, diamond bar. That's were it is for some good cuisine (Rowland heights).
If you know Colima rd...you know
DV Yes!! I live in DB and Colima’s food is just SO GOOD
Isn't GG Tiffany from Diamond Bar??
I live in Diamond Bar and I'm about to check that out!
I first heard of DB and Flushing from AOL Korean chat rooms (long ago).
Northern California’s Union City is about like 65% Asian! It’s crazy the Bay Area is filled with Asians
I love korean bbq
Ok
wut
Yep i'm korean just i think bbq chicken is best in korea
Lol
wut
This video really helped me a lot. I’m not Korean but Chinese and Thai so when I was growing up, I was around my grandma and she would speak Chinese and I would understand but didn’t really think about it. My family started pretending like that’s not our culture (we’re also American) but it hurt a lot to almost have my own culture be hidden bc of family that was married in. Thank you and I hope people do come to an understanding with all cultures.
Their use of Konglish is so natural & speaks to me so loudly!
i see Evan i click. That laugh huhu i melt
Me: watches 400 Korean dramas and 20 movies
Also me: can only say hello, good bye and Noona.
dude. same. or "oppa, hyung, oma" etc.
Same 😅
Omg yes
Yeah I totally understand you guys me too, living in Korea as a black guy it was not that easy but nowadays young generation became so civilized now Korea is the best country for foreighers to live comfortably~~ I enjoyed the video keep it up~~
I'm a Chinese girl 🇨🇳 who is born in Canada and grew up in Canada 🇨🇦 and I can relate to these 4 Korean guys 🇰🇷
Why do I love this so much😭 Korean sounds so amazing
if buzzfeed makes this a series for all asian-american identities, i would love it so much. i would even re-subscribe :P
4:55 the most relatable moment in this whole video😂😂😂
I get so shocked when I see my friends walking around in their house with shoes on cause in Africa I better take that off before u step into the house😂😂
Glad I saw this. Former high school teacher at a multi-cultural school in DC. Really cool guys with great personalities.
“If you can’t speak English it’s not a stress for you, it’s a stress for the person you’re talking to” BEST LINE OF 2k18
0:50 JAY PARK IS THAT YOU
Em W. That what I was like that
I love this so much!! Mix of Korean and english when you are speaking, so cool. Learning Korean. 여러분 감마입니다 , video 정말 좋아해요!!
AshleeLoveit I switch between Korean and English mid-sentence without even realizing it 😅 I’m glad you’re learning korean. Keep up the good work!
Sorry do you mean 감사합니다 ? What is 감마입니다? Just asking, if not please correct me
I think you are looking for the phrase 감사합니다, and good job on trying to learn korean it's not easy🖒
Gotta love the kimchi cap
I had to come back on this video! We definitely need this group again. Eye opening but really funny.
I love how they're all so fluent in both languages!
But why make fun of the eyes? I think they’re attractive and adorable :).
None of you noobs noticed, but Danny Lim is a Korean Translator for Overwatch League
Bring this video back now plz UA-cam gods!!! America needs this now
Their accents r so adorable.
And there's something about the Korean language that just makes me feel warm n fuzzy inside.
Well, most schools in Asia overall, have Saturday school, and some of them have after school tutoring as well. I guess that's something unique to Asian countries itself. I am jealous of American and European schooling now.
Ah they're cute 😊
I wonder if any of them served in the ROK military. None of them was actually born overseas, so these guys did an amazing job becoming assimilated
Jason Suh if they go back before a certain age they have to do the two years if i recall correctly
rich90553 it is a sensitive issue, but the war has not officially ended and therefore I would have thought more highly of them if they served
Woohoo! 너무 재미있었습니다 !! THIS WAS SO GOOD! As a Korean, I am seriously so happy that asian culture is rising immensely around the internet:))
u know how good it feels to talk to people from ur country when u are abroad
