Love all of your videos, especially the budget tool builds. Keep ‘em coming!
SO impressed with your talent and willingness to share it with others. This is now on my build list :)
Definitely a nice build! I enjoy your videos, because you go into detail about your builds. You also include the oops factor when you have to make an adjustment or have figured a better or easier way to get to the end result. Thanks for sharing the files for this build.
What a cool collaboration! Thanks for sharing!
This video is well worth the time it came out to. Yes, we all can learn a great deal from your effort here. Thanks!
Appreciate someone who makes their own tools.
I've already made my own welding cart, engine stand, and a cherry picker with larger flotation tires. Makes all the difference being able to work on the "heavy" equipment out in the dirt. Nice to see Eastwood already has a motor speed controller available along with the dies. As I now see my next project.
WOW !! Watch the whole video !! SWEET Machine !!
I watched the whole way through and was completely fascinated.
I had no idea what you were making until the end.
Great job. Great mind.
Thanks.
Great job Karl I definitely think I will be building 1 of these class. Thanks for the video.
I love these long in depth videos. Keep Em coming. Great Job
Will do thanks for watching!
Awesome content as always and providing the DXF files is really amazing!
Well done! Always great when craftsmen share info like this.
Right on thanks man!
Seriously cool! So many channels are about the big dollar tools and it's amazingly refreshing to see someone create their own tools but also share the how to so that just us regular guys they have a shot at building them!
Right on thanks man! I want to share as much as I can!
Karl, another awesome build... can't wait for more. You my friend are truly inspirational. Thank you for sharing this experience.
You’re so welcome Ron thanks for watching I appreciate it!
Oh....I've been waiting for this! This is the one tool I really need to start building my Restomod street truck. Thanks Karl! Great video.
You’re so welcome and cheers!
Literally building this right now! Salvaging the drive and bushings from the baleigh 24” that wasn’t quite cutting it and fabbing the rest. You’re absolutely THE MAN! So kind of you to share the files and all of you knowledge. Been fabricating and building cars for many years, self-taught and I’ve picked up on so many little things in your videos, whether its a tad different way to think about something, a technique I’ve never used, or even just a couple words that made something click! Keep up the good work!
that baleigh stuff is so outrageously priced i think you can find it all cheaper in Alibaba if you look close i believe its the same stuff maybe im wrong its funny every tool company sells the same exact machines different prices they might tweek it a little paint it what ever but...
hello Carl, you are not only an amazing humbled guy, but your metal work is also super great. Thank you so much for putting so many great videos on youtube. Learning is fun, especially from a pro like you. You should teach in a vocational school, God bless you and your family
Aloha Karl, the long video doesn’t seem long when you teach us so much. It’s unbelievable that you are willing to share those files. You inspire me to try and make things on my own for my projects when I could just buy it off the shelf. Mahalo for sharing you knowledge. 🤙🏼
Aloha! It’s my pleasure to share as much information as possible to keep the industry going! There’s so much that we can all do to help each other
Just finished building the main body and stand! Drive system and all the gears etc are on the way! BTW people, eastwood is having a sale right now and I also found a 10% off coupon that doesn't seem to get old. It's "bleepinj". With the sale price plus 10% off it was about 425 after tax and another 20 for shipping. Thanks Carl. Your videos are always playing in the background in my shop and they help keep my ADHD in check and me on target. 🤙
Great episode. Really enjoyed the whole episode. Thanks again Karl for sharing your knowledge with us.
You’re more than welcome. I enjoyed making it!
It wasn’t till about two years ago a metal supermarket was built near me. Before that, there was nowhere to get metal from without driving 100 plus miles. Love that place!
Gratz on your sorta 1yr anniversary. It has been a lot of fun watching you guys!
Thank you so much! It’s been a hell of a year!
Great tutorial! I wish I had 1/8 the talent you have! Amazing.
Great news! I’m going to get started on it this weekend. Your videos are the best! Thanks so much.
Right on cant wait to see what you come up with
Karl sos un GENIO!!!, Thank you my friend for sharing your craft with such generosity. A big hug for you from Bariloche, Patagonia Argentina
I have been wanting to get one a Bead Roller, but I never thought of building one, but now I have no excuse. Awesome
Great video! Always a joy to take part of your projects, tutorials and knowledge :) Keep up the good work!
Thanks! Glad you’re enjoying it
1 hour and 38 minutes of juicy awesomeness. Thanks Karl, well done mate!!
Thanks Andrew glad you like it!
Keep up the tool builds, they are so inspiring. Got tons of ideas thanks to Make It Kustom Metal School! Thanks Karl!
You’re so welcome Brian thanks for your support!
What a great build tutorial! Pure quality.
Thank you sir!
Wow this project turned out fantastic. Great design, great application, fantastic workmanship, and welding. you are a true educator the way you explain and show how to build correctly. Just one thing, to keep some of your subscribers happy, paint it pink.
Worth every minute watching. 👍
When you modified the Bushings to remove the slop, I 've heard a machinist call the method "swedging" . He said that he used to do it to pistons to make up for "oversized" cylinders walls. Great video you made !!
Amazing class about fabrication and technics to make useful tools, you inspire me so much, legend
Well that sure did brighten the day. Great video. Thank you for all the time and effort which you had taken to entertain and teach us.
You’re most welcome thank you!
Awesome work yet again Karl, a joy to watch
Thanks Mark!
The Florida pool pump motor bearing repair guy When Service Calls Longwood approved ! that was good info, MIK
Such a cool video. A thoughtful design, actually making it with a CNC plasma, and a great videography and editing. No wonder it has so many views.
Great job.
I use 16g all the time, be great to roll a bead in it now thanks to you. Thank You for sharing
To prevent the chip strand from get too long just pause in your feeding of the bit. This breaks the chip and also gives the cutting edge a chance to cool which will prolong the cutting edge. Also, some coolant made for drilling and lathe work wouldn't be a bad idea either.
Another solid video, sir!
Like my granddad used to say "I love work. I could watch it all day!"
Yeah I definitely think I should get a drip feed at least for cutting. Rapid tap smells great but doesn’t do much for cooling 😂
@@MakeItKustom Even WD40 works better than nothing. At that point I started laughing and said "You didn't need to tell us you aren't a machinist" :-D Great build btw! I want one now!
@@MakeItKustom Flood coolant is the best but splatters the camera.
Thanks Karl! Nicely done. 👍🏼
Wow that was definitely one of the best detailed videos you've done yet and the over all project turned out amazing, I lean something everytime I watch one of your videos. That would be a awesome tool an looks kool as well. Thanks for all your work, an keep them coming.
Well thanks man! I know it was a long one but I’m glad we did it all in one shot. Love building tools and I always will!
Thank you for all you do. This was great, all your videos are great
Awesome awesome and enjoyable video! Thank you so much for taking the time to make this video Karl.
You’re so welcome! Thanks for watching
Fantastic tutorial as usual you are by far the best relatable teacher to me on UA-cam
Domo Arigatou 😊
Right on Kurt it’s so nice to hear that! Cheers thanks for watching!
A charm to watch your videos, again and again, you are a source of inspiration, I love the ease you have to build things, to invent simple ways of making tools, a greeting from Spain.
Thanks so much! Cheers
Impressive vid’s, after many years, passion in real life, taking time! Beautiful.
Awesome, love the elbow grease with customization…. Even tools.
Right on Karl! Awesome build.
Thanks Stacey!
Any great job by a man with mad skills. These videos are so educational to me as I am a beginner at this metal working thing. Thank you Karl.
You’re so welcome!
Awesome! You hinted at this around a year ago, been anxiously waiting for this video!!!
Ha ha yeah it’s definitely taking a lot longer than I had hoped
I will never need such a machine but DUDE I sure enjoy watching your creativity .... awesome.
Thanks so much!
I can see he is brilliant at what he does. Like his tutorials. I am sure many people don't or can't afford, nor have knowledge of using a milling machine. Making all these machines is beyond me.
Great tunes makes watching your videos even more pleasurable. Some of the music people play is mind numbing.
Chilled lunch hour watching some great work.
Right on Gavin! Stoked to have lunch with you! Lol
Thank you Karl...you are awesome...and a hell of a fabricator ...that bead roll turned out great....love your channel...
Keep coming bro
..
Thanks Gregory! Cheers!
Hey Karl, another great tutorial. Always a good thing to know how to make your own tools. The quality of many store bought tools is lacking. Thin metal and cheap parts seem to be the hallmark of today's tools. Building them yourself insures the quality of the final product. And if you build it, you know how to repair it instead of replacing it. Thanks for sharing your expertise and we'll see you next time.
Thanks so much Kieth! I love building tools for those reasons and also I find it by knowing exactly how it works you kind of know how to use them as well!
@@MakeItKustom Will you be making any more of your tucking hammers with the nylon plate and the shrinking stump brackets?
*Karl, just for entertainment only you should check out Jimmy's World and the Jan 16 '22 Beechcraft Bonza C35. Flaps and V-tails were magnesium and got **_crunchy_** over time showing a white powdery corrosion. Each of those V tail stabilizers (aka ruddervators) prolly 48" x 10" x 1" thick are bead rolled aluminum and ...(wait for it)...$10K a pop. That's six billion dollars in Canadian... I mean $13,000 each in Canadian money. Either way they look very simple and I'm sure you have to get them inspected by FAA etc but hey... looks well within your capability.*
Legendary build Karl. There are never enough tools in our sheds, no matter where we are in the world. Cheers from Australia 🇦🇺 😀
It is clear that provided you have a metal lathe, a milling drill and everything you need, you can make your equipment yourself, it is not at all within the reach of an amateur. Here in France, getting a second-hand horizontal lathe, milling machine costs a real fortune, everything is in the hands of particularly greedy merchants.
2nd. time watching your channel. Dude you have it figured out! Keep doing what your doing. You are extremely talented in how you present your topic. Your passion for what your doing is easy to see. I thoroughly enjoyed this video!
I love how you use different tools to get the job done even when they weren't intended to work for that application. Great Video 📸
Thanks Jason cheers!
Great video so enjoy hand made stuff and the more complicated. Thanks for showing both ways.
Most welcome!
Nice film and that roller works solid . Nice to create with your friends and family ! Keep em comin’
I have no desire or need for a bead roller however your videos are so entertaining and educational,I always pick up something I can use,you are a very engaging inspirational guy thanks!
Thanks man I’m so glad to hear that. Even though you’re not planning on building when are using one you can use some of the information in the video! Cheers
Currently collecting parts to build this. Thanks for sharing
Absolutely awesome video, who knew your channel could give even more than it already does! Thanks for the cool future project Karl.
You’re so welcome and thanks for your support!
I have the Eastwood setup for my garage. Im just starting out and didn’t want to make my own. I’m getting a feel for how the machine works and becoming more comfortable using it. Even though I currently won’t be making my own, your video gave me a way better understanding on the setup of this tool and what to look for when operating one. Yes the video is long, but totally worth it! Thanks!
That’s awesome! And since you have one already if you want to upgrade it, you have many of the parts
Great episode. Good information. I have the sane Eastwood motor on my rig. 16ga. Seems to push the motor to its limit, but if you start off with a lighter pressure, slowly increase and double up on your passes, it will do the job.
Yeah it would be nice if it was a little bit more powerful but I think it will work fine for what we’re doing
Great video, it sure was worth to wait!
Never too long on this channel. Thanks man
You’re welcome Darren thanks for watching
Awesome video Karl! I will definitely download the dxf drawings so I can build one of these, as soon as I finish building my cnc plasma table. These long format videos are phenomenal!
Right on John I’m so stoked that you like the format. I wasn’t ready for it to be this long thought maybe it would’ve been better in two
I like your cheer!
I like your positive outreaching motivating charisma!
I like your builds!!!
I like your content!
I like your channel!
Keep it up and keep bringing your devoted always smiling great talent!
God Bless everyone!!
Thanks so much I’m glad you are digging the channel! Cheers
Thank you very much for your spirit of sharing it
brilliant show I watch every one .
what a great video. I love seeing a young man with so much talent and work ethic sharing his techniques. your parents should be proud.
Thanks man I am so grateful to have great parents are proud and supportive
Took me all day to watch this, I got a good bit in before work then a tease at dinner break, then Finally got to finish it up to cap off my Friday evening 👍
Right on Tom cat! Stoked you got to see it all. Brenda says hi!
@@MakeItKustom well hello back sweet lady B ☺️
Man this is the kind of stuff that inspires me to want to learn new trades you sir are truly a great artist at what you do and I thank you for all the informational videos and keep up all the great work 👍
Thanks so much man I appreciate you!
Good job dude! Very smart, accurate and simple! All the best in your metalworking endeavours!!!!👍
Thanks man much appreciated!
Awesome bud and hopefully can get to building one soon
Another great one you guys, long but so worth it. Karl buddy you HAVE to get an anvil in your shop. 100 lb. plus anvil with nice sharp edges. So much nicer for getting square bends with a hammer!
Thanks for all the info and the DWG files.
You’re so welcome in and yeah I’ve definitely been looking for an anvil that’s not astronomically priced
The peace between the motor and the tool is a Lovejoy Coupler
For the love of joy!
G'Day Karl, Most Impressive mate! Also, Thank You for being so generous, with your handy work. Regards Johno
Well thought-out,Very nice work, Great video, thanks for sharing
It’s a love joy coupling! These are very forgiving! Great video!! Keep up the awesome work!
I was looking for this comment. Thanks
And the rubber insert is called a Spider.
Thanks so much Andrew!
Wow, another great video on how to build a homemade tool for the shop 😀, well done 👏
Thank you so much!
Thank you so much for the video. And thanks for the files and part numbers too. Awesome video.
You’re so welcome and I hope that they are useful to you!
Thanks for the complete tutorial of your bead roller.
You’re so welcome!
Karl, Couldn't agree more with Dave Butcher. I use a 2 litre garden spray bottle (with pressurising pump) filled with whitewater (soluble oil coolant at 5% dilution) - just spray it at the drill to keep the end cool and wet. Otherwise excellent - I particularly like the tab and slot approach. Keep up the excellent work.
Damn Karl, that things awesome. Great video. Totally enjoyed watching this video. You always make me look forward to the next video! That's a good thing. Love the channel. Keep On Keeping On Brother! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Outstanding man! Thanks for the ideas. Maybe later I’ll build one, but for now I’m just gonna improve my small one.
Dude, you're just cool and love your craft.
Always Awesome to watch.
Awesome job!! Very informative
Wicked video, great bit of kit for the shop
Literally building this down in Florida now because of you. Thank you so much! Watching every video
Did you have a problem with the files ? I have a buddy with a plasma table not able to pull up the dwg files said he needs dxf files or png ?
@@alantreadwell5369 I have not got there yet ordered the metal and all the parts but think you can convert the files ? Open the DWG in AutoCAD. Hit 'File' the select 'Save As' to bring up the file saving options. In the next dialog you can select DXF as the required output. Select 'Save' to create your DWG file
@@alantreadwell5369 Or there are free DWG to DXF converter available online. Heading to Plasma cutter today so I'll find out
Awesome build, thank you for sharing.
Nice video Karl. I'm not a machinist either but worked with some. When you are doing multiple holes in the same place you can put a stop on your mill vice and push the item against it. Saves marking out each item. Drill and tap a thread it the end of the vice jaws to fix a stop to.
Thanks Dave! I’m learning lots in the comments on this one
Thanks for sharing! Great content and information!
Yay!!! my chows woke me up from a dead sleep at 4am (c).. and come to find out you just released a hour ago.. Wish my older brother (51) was as cool as you are (he's on one of his "hate the world and everyone in it moods".. lol)
Oh man hopefully you didn’t watch it that early in the morning! Lol
@@MakeItKustom yeah I watched it.. lol I wonder how well it'll do made out of 8 inch C channel (atleast its straight) compared to my 7 x 12ft 1/4" rusted plate in a shape of a banana.. lol
Great show. Keep them coming...
New Zealand 🇳🇿
Looks amazing and works great. I'd put a guard over the gears at the motor side to prevent something from falling into the gears. Tools, clothing or fingers, etc. Enjoy
Yeah guard even came with it! Thanks chuck
Karl, you are an amazingly talented young man, keep it up.
Thanks so much
That is very impressive my friend looks the bees knees great video again
